Morning all.

Sorry if you're chomping at the bit to announce your loss this morning!

Here's the spreadsheet

Some great losses already posted, so well done.

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway.

I have been away so couldnt add on Monday , but it looks like I have lost 3lbs ( cant remember what I entered as starting weight on the spreadsheet, which i cant access atm) .. really Happy with that , ive been carrying on BC pretty much after the last one , so wouldnt expect a big loss ..

ShagMeRiggins · 23/10/2020 13:45

@Jdhshekr (thank you @prettybird for the tip, hope I don’t overwhelm anyone with notifications as I normally only tag people when I really really need them to see the post)..

Anyway: have OCD relating to food hygiene and cannot freeze food...

Enough said. Sorry, didn’t mean to put you on the spot. Flowers

@BIWitched

Of course it is! The very lovely *@AthelstaneTheUndeady* will add you to the spreadsheet - what's your starting weight?
@BIWitched *@AthelstaneTheUndeady* Lovely thank you! Starting at 11 stone 12
poorbuthappy · 23/10/2020 13:51

@ShagMeRiggins - I was never an adventurous eater, there's family folklore which states for a few years in my youth I only ate tomato soup and burnt toast. I never ever ate veg...honestly never ever. I didn't even like chips when I was a kid.
But I was extremely active (used to dance) and it didn't affect me negatively so my mum just let me be fussy,
It wasn't until I was in my 20s that my food world opened up and that was mostly because of partners being very good cooks!
Now I eat most things Grin although I will always maintain that heat / hot is not a flavour and why on earth would someone eat food which is so hot you can't taste anything!!!!! (common "discussion" with DH)
I have never eaten so much veg as I do on this WOE, and yes it has opened up my horizons a lot.

BIWitched · 23/10/2020 13:59

@Laska2Meryls

Indeed it was - we had some problems with it, so it was re-worked - here is a link that should work!

prettybird · 23/10/2020 14:01

ShagMeRiggins - that's why I substitute the @ with a * and put another asterisk at the end of the name (I'm using the word rather than the symbol in this sentence to avoid unintended bonding Wink). Unless, as you say, you're wanting to "call" someone Wink

Totalshambles · 23/10/2020 14:19

Not checked in for a while but been very good. Kids on half term from today so not getting much downtime. Got the seriously low carb bread and was so excited but actually when I had a roll I found it felt very heavy, maybe I had got used to not eating bread. Was a nice suprise to realise I hadn’t missed it as much as I thought. Still the option to have a piece of toast and cup of tea is there if needed!
Resisting weighing til Monday but I don’t feel that much as come off this week..
Hope everyone well. Will catch up with the thread later.

I've got a few questions that I'm hoping you could help me out with!

What do NSV and FLGV stand for?

Is the purpose of eating high fat to stay full and not eat other stuff or does it actively cause us to lose weight? Ie if not hungry should you still eat high fat?

What can I snack on on a fri and sat night? I've bought some pork scratchings but I'm worried all my other options such as cheese though low carb are calorific. Also could having lots of snacks on a Friday and sat night, even if low carb cause a big problem?

Thanks!

SpookyTheGhoulfriendScarer · 23/10/2020 14:31

I'm going to make some zoodles with garlic and jalepenos. I'm planning on having a
tin of mackerel in oil with it.

Do I cook the mackerel first in the frying pan, eat it as is on top of the cooked zoodles or cook it in beside the zoodles?

I confess I read the first half of your comment and missed the bit about changing to * bookended. Blush
Laska2Meryls · 23/10/2020 15:29

Great Thanks BIWI

ShagMeRiggins · 23/10/2020 15:29

NSV— non-scale victory such as a compliment, a size down, a looser bra, great skin...

FLGV— fuck load of green veg

First, you need to go and read the FAQ thread that I've written!

NSV = non scales victory - e.g. an item of clothing fitting, or someone commenting on how much weight you've lost

FLGV - fuck loads of green vegetables!

You should always eat high fat - this is a high fat WOE. Eating fat doesn't make you fat - it's good for you and it also helps to keep you full. Importantly, it doesn't provoke a release of insulin, as happens when you eat carbs.

You shouldn't be snacking on Bootcamp - because you shouldn't be hungry between meals.

That said, there's nothing wrong with eating cheese (as long as you don't have a dairy issue) - and we don't worry about calories on Bootcamp!

But I'd ask you - why are you planning to snack? If you've eaten a proper dinner, and it's all been low carb, then you won't be hungry anyway. So why the need?

BIWitched · 23/10/2020 15:38

As the mackerel will already be cooked, all you're wanting to do is to heat it through. So I'd cook the zoodles and at the last minute of cooking add the mackerel.

Glad you’re feeling much better @VeryLittleOwl and thank you for asking, sadly shingles is a lot worse than I could have imagined and today seems to be the worst day by far. If anyone has any remedies for the pain I’ll try anything!
The anti-virals I’ve been prescribed recommend a low sugar diet so there’s that to keep me going.

I love the idea of weighing on a Friday to give you weekend motivation. Last Sunday we went out for a roast and I had sparkling water instead of my usual prosecco and extra veg instead of potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding and I honestly didn’t feel like I was missing out at all which is amazing!

Good luck to everyone who finds the weekends testing!

Oneborneverydecade · 23/10/2020 16:17

I'm finding the M&D 3 for £7 deli selection a lifesaver for picnics atm. Although even the Rollitos couldn't save a crap day at Chessington with my family today

Chuffed to have stayed the same after eating out at Miller & Carter last night, though I think my TOTM may mean I'm up on Monday Sad

I apologise if anyone gets an email on my account - I need to get more savvy with the * I think

Not a problem. I’m aware it’s mad, but I’ve lost count of all the times I’ve made something lovely, decided to freeze half of it to eat in the future, then absolutely freaked out once it’s defrosting that I’m somehow doing it wrong and food poisoning is going to get us. I’ve ended up throwing away so much perfectly good food because of this that I just don’t freeze stuff any more. It does mean that I have to eat everything up within a couple of days thought, which can get really really dull...

FizzyPink · 23/10/2020 16:31

Oh what was crap about Chessington @Oneborneverydecade
I’ve heard some good things recently so was considering it but perhaps not

fizzfridays · 23/10/2020 16:43

Congrats on the nsv @plumstone

@EarlGreyHot I've always found weekends the most difficult too. I think planning tasty meals and making sure you are well stocked with low carb options at all times helps. For me it's also making sure I have proper meals, otherwise I tend to be picking and grazing all weekend on convenience foods, especially since lockdown where ever night is a film night!

@Turnedouttoes that sounds awful, hope you feel better soon Thanks

Today has been good so far:
B: nothing as at hosp appointment
L: Bolognese omelette (this would be even better with mozzarella too, like lasagne)
D: duck leg, cauli mash, leeks

Happy Friday everyone!

Superspecs · 23/10/2020 16:46

@BIWItched thanks for all that great info, I'd read the FAQs but think I must have glossed over the fat bit!

You're right of course, I shouldn't need to snack and I'm not hungry, it's just something nice to do in front of the telly after a long week! I'll try and curb it, maybe eating tea later will keep me occupied and do the trick. I also bought some olives.

I think fundamentally I just need to trust the process (and stop snacking!) I've done so many diets over the years with very conflicting advice but this one seems the most sustainable long term. I'm not really missing carbs at all, but I'm still into habit snacking and having larger portions than I need :-( anyway hopefully I'll have some NSVs and SVs ;-) and that will give me the momentum to try even harder!

And dinner with a FLGV is a must!

Superspecs · 23/10/2020 16:47

And thanks also for the explanation @shagmeriggins !

Superspecs · 23/10/2020 16:49

@fizzfriday bolognese omelette sounds amazing! Also thinking you could also lasagne-ify it with a few thin omelettes as sheets!

plumstone · 23/10/2020 16:52

Thanks @fizzfridays, also can you tell me more about the Bolognese omelette please - I love omelettes and could eat one every day for the rest of time.

Hope the appointment went well!!

I absolutely get you - but this is a habit, isn't it? It's like having to have some nuts along with that glass of white wine! Olives are a great idea though.

StuntNun · 23/10/2020 17:16

@Oneborneverydecade next time you're at Chessington go to the Smokehouse BBQ for lunch. You can get a big plate of pulled pork and coleslaw in there and there's even a bar!
