Morning all.

Sorry if you're chomping at the bit to announce your loss this morning!

Here's the spreadsheet

Some great losses already posted, so well done.

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway.

Think I did okay today. Been drinking fruit tea or coffee all day, along with a few glasses of water. Food was a salami sandwich on the low carb bread with a few cherry tomatoes, dinner was roast chicken with buttered runner beans and buttery mashed swede, served with mayo.
Went out for a walk . Am in lockdown from tomorrow evening and have spent my last day of relative freedom cleaning mould off the bathroom ceiling. Oh, the glamour Grin

SailingandSauvignon · 22/10/2020 20:25

Good evening
Get well soon to anyone feeling unwell.
I have had an 'ish' start. I have made the decision to have nuts (

Midlifemission · 22/10/2020 21:15

Argh I feel like the thread slipped away from me today as I was on zoom for a very intense 4.5 hours and needed a screen break afterwards.
I have been adding various things to my food shopping as I skimmed to catch up - meatballls , corned beef and radishes !
Sorry to hear of people feeling unwell and those struggling with stalls.
The phrase it’s a marathon not a sprint springs to mind - but I am guilty of worrying that it won’t go fast enough to keep me motivated too!

tea69 · 22/10/2020 22:43

I joined today at 167lbs.

Sorry to hear people aren't feeling well. Get well soon.

I ate today:

Eggs and almond coffee
Meatballs and cauli rice
Chicken leg with skin - yum! - and stir fried green vegetables
Snack mid morning was some chicken

prettybird · 22/10/2020 22:56

Had a good day: left over courgette and shallot frittata, couple of snacks of one slice of Emmenthal, two slices of salami and a chunk of pâté, 2 small chunks of Parmesan and then had carrot, neep and cabbage soup in home made ham stock.

Must go and drink some more water.

I'm going to be breaking my run of getting to bed before midnight though as I'm staying up to watch the not very Presidential Debate keeping my fingers crossed that Biden doesn't rise to the Orange One's baiting

SpookyTheGhoulfriendScarer · 22/10/2020 23:24

Ha! Finally caught up with the thread! Thought I'd better check in.
I finally got around to buying those electrolyte tablets from Holland & Barrett. The fruit flavour was amazing after nothing but water and the odd coffee here and there! I also managed to fit in a hiit T25 DVD workout!! Its the first time I dragged the dvd player out since losing 2 stone. What a difference!! I could actually do some of the excercise moves properly rather than just jiggling along to the music 😂

I ended up being sick at 2am this morning. I realised I never drank enough so thinking could be this? Felt much better today.

Breakfast was leftover chicken with mushroom sauce. I missed lunch because my children decided to make my life hard today. I did make a beautiful steak dinner, with butter roasted asparagus, buttered sprouts, cauliflower mash (made from scratch with spring onions and cheese), roasted tomatoes, garlic mushrooms and pepper sauce Grin

Superspecs · 22/10/2020 23:28

I had a good day followed by a rubbish evening. I opened a tin of Chicken korma which turned out not to be that low carb, but I ate it anyway with cauli rice, then I ate TWO packs of pork scratchings, and I don't even like them that much!

Here's to a better day tomorrow.

EarlGreyHot · 23/10/2020 07:22

Happy Friday everyone. Hope everyone has a good day.

Does anyone have any top tips for surviving the weekend? I only started on Monday so the next few days will be the first real test... I found a recipe for chicken doner with lc tabbouleh (using cauliflower rice) so will make that tomorrow night as a fakeaway. Hoping it's tasty enough to feel like a treat!

Yesterday:
B - black coffee and some cheese
L - scotch eggs and mayo
D - meatballs in tomato and veg sauce with steamed broccoli and parmesan
Lots of water and black tea

PurBal · 23/10/2020 07:29

Been weighing regularly this week (I'm a kg person so always have to convert) and happy with progress. Worried about this weekend as I'm visiting and staying with a friend so I've no control over the food. I told her I'm doing low carb but I'm not sure it sunk in. When she serves up risotto "because it's healthy" so I can't even separate the carbs I'll let you know.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/10/2020 08:29

Weighed and no loss again today. Must admit to being slightly concerned because apart from the one line of low carb chocolate, I've stuck to it rigidly. Avoided dairy yesterday and drank as much as I could. I hope it's just my period interfering.

BIWitched · 23/10/2020 08:41

Which low carb bread have you been eating @MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously? I wonder if there's something in that? Ignoring the chocolate for now

MaudesMum · 23/10/2020 09:01

I ate out for the first time in ages yesterday, and found a couple of low carb choices. I started with some goats cheese on a salad mainly of celeriac with some green leaves, and then had roasted salmon on ratatouille. Turned down the puddings and avoided the bread. BUT I did fall at the alcohol-related hurdle - I had two glasses of wine over the evening (and a whisky when I got home). In my defence, I was attending a theatre for the first time in 10 months, and my habit over 30+ years of theatre-going is to accompany it with a glass of wine or two, so there's definitely a learned behaviour type of thing to change.

poorbuthappy · 23/10/2020 09:04

My best tip for the weekend (apart from avoiding well meaning friends!) is to weigh on a Monday and a Friday (if you're not a daily weigher obviously).
It either spurs me on to continue if I've done well - or spurs me on to sort my head out if it's not gone well.
I weighed last Friday morning and it was 1lb off which turned into 3lb by the Monday.
I've weighed this morning and am very happy. This will keep me on the straight and narrow for the next few days.

Happy Friday everyone!

Lyrata · 23/10/2020 09:06

I sympathise so much @MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously - I’m feeling really anxious about the weigh in. I really hope I see some good news. I normally see quite good losses on this WOE and particularly when I’m heavier. I found it so disheartening to see a tiny loss on Sunday when I’m my heaviest ever. But I also thought it might be my period week (I don’t get them any more but I do get occasional very light spotting which I think I saw) last week so perhaps this week will be better.

Today I’m having FF Greek yogurt for breakfast, leftover moussaka for lunch and the remaining cauliflower “buffalo wings” for dinner. We have loads of cheese slices in the fridge because somebody (not me) made a massive(ly tempting) grilled cheese yesterday so I need to resist the urge to nibble.

Mimosa1 · 23/10/2020 09:08

Oh no, @PurBal ! I have a friend who is one of those too. Fingers crossed all goes well. I'm finding it easier to stick to this woe these days which is good. I've had a few slip ups but have been doing this consistently since mid July, which is the longest I've stuck to anything... and it's working, albeit more slowly these days. Dh and I have made a commitment to stick to it til Christmas, but I'm already planning to join the January boot camp after my Christmas holiday.

Hope everyone has a pleasant low carb high fat weekend :-)

StuntNun · 23/10/2020 09:11

@EarlGreyHot what is it that's worrying you about continuing to eat well over the weekend? Do you have any habits or traditions that might scupper you? Do you think you might be tempted by alcohol? Planning your food is the best way to avoid getting derailed. Have a lovely big (low carb) fry up one morning or do a Sunday roast with loads of veggies.

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously how often do you expect to see a loss on the scales? Weight loss isn't a linear process, your weight will go up and down even if you were eating absolutely perfectly. Bear in mind that low carb bread is only relatively low carb so it could still take you out of your ideal weight loss zone. Also it often contains seeds which are extremely calorie dense and are fibre rich which can lead to bloating/water retention.

plumstone · 23/10/2020 09:12

Morning All,

Hope everyone that was feeling ill is feeling better. Bit of NSV this morning, pulled on my black skinnies, and the button and zip closed with no problem - this is very exciting as a month ago I was thinking I was going to have to buy a new pair for the winter - now, maybe not!

What was planning to be a quiet work day, has now become chaotic, with a trip into town to do stuff for my boss - could really do without this and he could probably manage it all himself, but was very sweet about it.

today was going to be (when spending most of the day pottering with one eye on emails):
B - Greek yogurt
L - HM pumpkin soup
D - Cheeseburger pie

ITs now:
B - Greek yogurt
L - spinach omlette
D - pork chop, broccoli and brussels - already cooked just needs re-heated when I get back home.
All in all very disappointing for a friday - I like "nice" food on a Friday as its the weekend!
W - will be minimum 3ls aiming for 4.

I drink a lot of sparkling water - this is OK I mean as opposed to still?

KOKO everyone and have an epic weekend!

Jdhshekr · 23/10/2020 09:16

The Friday and Monday weighing is a really good idea.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 23/10/2020 09:24

Morning all, I hope those who have been feeling ill are startI got to feel better.

My weight is slowly moving downwards, it is very much in 1/4 to 1/2 lb drops, but those 1/4 lbs all add up, a 1/4 lb drop a week, would be 13lbs so just under a stone over a year and 1/2 lb a week would be 26lbs so just under 2 stone over a year. Not too shabby I say 😀

EarlGreyHot · 23/10/2020 09:35

@StuntNun where do I start with the weekend habits?! There's the wine and crisps of an evening, the Saturday morning visit to our local bakery for sourdough and fancy buns, pizza with the kids... sorry this is beginning to read like carb porn Blush

Plus in the past when I've tried lc I've had a cheat meal on a Saturday so there's that association to get over...

I have taken the advice of weighing in today and am very pleased with progress so that has strengthened my resolve somewhat. I'm hoping the chicken doner and tabbouleh fakeaway will feel like a treat for Saturday's tea. Will also stock up on some good quality sausages and bacon etc for fry ups. DH is low carbing so doesn't want to have a drink this weekend either. Let's hope we can encourage each other not to break!

I'm also a big emotional eater but find this WOE helps me identify that craving vs real hunger.

Anotherducker · 23/10/2020 09:57

😂 at carb porn.

Sticking with Bootcamp has been easier than I’d expected because I feel so much better for it. My mood is even, appetite is balanced, IBS is calm. I think it’s bringing on a period (which is good as they’re very uneven in a high carb diet)
My energy levels aren’t great though. Went for a longish walk yesterday and it was a slog. Waking up really hot in the night as well which is unusual for me.

Most surprising of all Ive nearly finished my burger cheesecake that I thought was a disaster.

prettybird · 23/10/2020 10:00

Advice for the weekend is planning

Make sure you have plenty of water around - sparkling water if you like it. Try cucumber water (a jug of water with a few slices of cucumber in it - amazingly effective). Slices of lemon and lime for flavour too. Plenty of herb teas. Cold infusion teabags are also available and people have said they're good (never tried them).

Plan sone nice meals: eg steak with Boursin or duck breast with a FLGV. Check out the recipe three ads for more ideas.

Make up a batch of low carb coleslaw that you can "snack" on if you get the munchies - will help up your FLGV count. Boil some eggs so that they're available too.

Enjoy a weekend breakfast of Avocado with a poached egg.

Plan, plan, plan - and then you'll find you're "in the zone" - maybe not this weekend but soon - and are no longer tempted by your usual "weekend habits". Grin

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/10/2020 10:10

BIWitched The low carb bread is the 'seriously low carb' brand. Says it is 0.9g per slice and 30 calories. I only had 2 slices. Even the chocolate was only 2.5g and was only once.
I've not lost anything this week so far. But, I do have my period and idk if that affects things.
All that said, my appetite has reduced since starting bootcamp, so I'm now eating more in line with what non fat people eat. I feel like I'm eating a healthier diet too, so all that is very good.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 23/10/2020 10:18

Forgot to say, we are eating at a Bills Restaurant this weekend, chosen as I know they are good for low carb options.

Would you mind having a look at the menu and telling me what my best options would be?

I like a starter or sharing platter (I would only eat the bits I’m allowed and the rest will be hoovered up by my family) and main course if possible.

I was thinking the fried halloumi sticks to start, Or is there a better option?
then either the steak or naked burger or sea bass or grilled miso salmon (no rice) with anything carb replaced with green veg or salad (dressing on the side) and a side of greens with bacon

No desert, will have a herbal tea Or decaf coffee

Thank you, I know this is my tricky bit of the weekend so trying to plan in advance

BIWitched · 23/10/2020 10:28

IME Bills is really not great for low carbing!

None of those sharing platters have much that you could eat I'm afraid. The halloumi sticks are breaded, so that would rule those out. And avoid the chicken skewers as they are marinated/coated in something very sweet. I wouldn't be surprised if the salmon was the same.

I'd go with the steak with a side order of broccoli or greens for your main, but I can't see anything in the starters that would be low carb.

Sorry!

I avoid going there now simply because there's so little I can have - and because when I'm there I usually end up ordering something I shouldn't!
