Morning all.

Sorry if you're chomping at the bit to announce your loss this morning!

Here's the spreadsheet

Some great losses already posted, so well done.

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway.

@Rayna37 I enjoyed your yoghurt insights 😊 and what a great weight to have 🤣

fizzfridays · 22/10/2020 13:51

@IncurablyCurious hope you're feeling better.

@ToastCosILoveIt hopefully bootcamp will be the re-set you need to get back on track. I think sometimes that counting or tracking calls can be counterproductive as you don't then get in touch with your hunger cues. On calorie controlled diets I would sometimes get to the end of the day and be desperately looking for something I could have with the 150cals left in my budget because I was 'allowed' it, when I wasn't actually hungry at all.

@BIWI pic below- let me know what you think!

Week 2 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - the first weigh-in!
EarlGreyHot · 22/10/2020 13:52

@ToastCosILoveIt I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to advise but my other half reckons that the odd cheat meal can help him reset if his weight loss slows down. There may be some water gain initially if you were back on the carbs and booze? So it may be that the loss on the scales will be there next week if not this one.

Either way, going back to the carbs isn't going to help you so keep at it. Perhaps looking at your portion sizes if you stalled before this?
Don't lose heart!

BurningGubbins · 22/10/2020 13:56

I have steered clear of radishes for about the last 35 years because I once mistook one for a strawberry as a child... maybe it’s time to try again...

Congratulations @Jdhshekr! I am in the same boat - I can now fit into my marker sundress that I wore once (on honeymoon). Tbh it now looks a bit young for me but I don’t care!

Rayna37 · 22/10/2020 14:04

@Jdhshekr

I tried on an old sundress from the Legendary Summer When I Was Thin this morning. I haven’t been able to get the zip even half way up for 7 years. It zipped right up! It’s still a little bit tight to wear (which is fine as it is currently the end of October and I won’t be able to wear such a dress for the next 6-7 months, but I could honestly cry with how happy it made me feel. Which is a bit crap of me but I don’t care.

This isn’t a 2 week bootcamp miracle BTW - I’ve been low carbing for about 3 months now so it’s well earned.

Love this post!

Can anyone advise me if celeriac mash freezes ok? I'd like the thought of not having to rely on DH being home to skin the beast for me.

Anotherducker · 22/10/2020 14:25

Get well soon to the poorly people.

Congratulations on the losses too.

Yes I’ve frozen it successfully.

Waitrose also do a bag for a quid that’s ready chopped. I go just for that Grin

Jdhshekr · 22/10/2020 14:43

Thank you! I’ve lost nearly a stone and a half. I’m sure lots of people lose faster than that but I’m now only about 9lbs off my goal weight so I didn’t have loads to lose. I’m very impressed with myself for sticking with it as I am useless at diets usually.

StuntNun · 22/10/2020 15:05

@ToastCosILoveIt so you've lost 16lb in 11 weeks? That's a pretty good rate of weight loss. It's typical for weight loss to stall for a week or three and then you seemingly lose three pounds overnight. The amount of exercise you're doing could easily cause water retention which masks fat loss and a night of alcohol certainly won't have helped. I would just get back to Bootcamp and try not to worry about your weight for now - it will come off in its own time.

BIWitched · 22/10/2020 15:44

@ToastCosILoveIt

Hi, checking in as I need some motivation. I started my own kind of bootcamp on 6 August (now adhering to this one with the exception of using My Fitness Pal to track food intake). I quickly lost 8lb in the first two weeks (okay, some water) but then took many weeks to get the next 8 down. I have now stalled at 150lb and am even going up.

I did have a long planned dinner out last Friday with friends (before the London tier 2 kicked in) and wine was drunk in large quantities. However, I am paying for it as I am currently 2lb heavier than I was last Friday! This is depressing as I am doing weights (with a trainer) three times a week, plus a yoga class and a spinning class and at the weekend walking at least six miles a week on each day.

Please help, what can I do? I am also doing 16:8, usually starting about 9am and eating my last meal by 5pm.

My average weight loss can be counted in ounces each week, if that. I only have a stone to go and am peri-menopausal, all of which I know is not helping...

Firstly - all of what @StuntNun said!

But second, why are you tracking your food? That's not Bootcamp - what are you trying to do by that? Are you trying to keep your calories low, by any chance?

If you only have a stone to go, your rate of loss will slow anyway. And it's often the case that your weight will go up - for no apparent reason!

List out for me what you've eaten and drunk over the last 3 or 4 days, and let me see if I can help.

BIWitched · 22/10/2020 15:49

@frizzfridays

Hmm. It's hardly a food that would count as 'unprocessed' though, is it? Why would you want to eat that when you could eat something like Total or one of the supermarket's premium Greek yoghurts? You're not a vegetarian, so I can't see why you would need this!

The one I buy is Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Greek yoghurt - these are its ingredients:

INGREDIENTS: Natural Greek Yogurt (Cows' Milk)

It's 4.1g carbs per 100g, and 10.7g fat, which is also a lot better than the Alpro one which is only 3.3g.

CrepuscularCritter · 22/10/2020 15:50

Thanks @TeddyisaHe. I'll try and get to Waitrose for the chopped celeriac too. I fractured my wrist a while back and raw celeriac is a bit too robust for me to cut now.

Rshard · 22/10/2020 15:59

Sorry to read that folk are poorly, sore throat and cough here which is making me crave hot tea for some reason. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Love hearing about the clothes NSV’s, it’s a great feeling!

Takingontheworld · 22/10/2020 16:15

Just checking in. Have lost nothing, not a bean, for two weeks. Quite cheesed off but also weirdly at peace with this nonsense now, it's just how it goes. Hoping to get on another losing streak soon.

Another to add to quick meals: tesco finest meatballs 12pk are 1.3g carb for 4 meat balls. We've just had tonight with kale and broccoli.

Don't stress about it - this does happen.

Just make sure that you haven't allowed carb creep! And that you're still eating all the fat and drinking all the water.

LemonSea · 22/10/2020 16:25

Hi all, sorry to hear some ill people.

B Fried egg
L Tinned squid and leaves
D Spiced beef mince and roasted celeriac

Period pain today, every month I hope I have finished with periods (I am 53) so that’s disappointing. Hoping to hit the sofa for the rest of the day.

fizzfridays · 22/10/2020 16:29

Hi @BIWitched- love the spooky name!

Yes it's definitely on the processed side, and fat isn't great. I've been advised to avoid dairy over the next few weeks whist healing as it can cause more mucous production which is not ideal after nasal/sinus surgery. In this situation I thought this would be an acceptable alternative temporarily, or for those who can't do dairy at all but would like something yogurt-like!

Don't worry, I will be back to my 5% fage as soon as possible! I adore cheese and dairy so no fear of me taking up plant based alternatives long term. The thought of being cheeseless for a few weeks is rather depressing but hopefully will help me expand my recipe repertoire.

BIWitched · 22/10/2020 16:30

Ah! Right, I see. That sounds miserable!

Flowers for good healing.

Hopeislost · 22/10/2020 16:37

@fizzfridays If you need a non-dairy yoghurt the Alpro Plain No Sugars is zero carb.

Oneborneverydecade · 22/10/2020 16:40

@jdhshekr congratulations!

@takingontheworld I'm having a static week too. I'm hovering at 1/4lb below 13st - it feels like a dangerous place to be ha But like you I've realised that that's how it is with this woe. Next week you'll probably get great results without changing anything ay

My tiny breakthrough this week is realising that when needs must I can tolerate fruit tea

I've been stuck at 13st 1.5 for what feels like forever, so bladdy annoying!!!

BIWI my fats been higher actually I think, deffo low carbs, possibly even too restrictive maybe as just so busy. Can barely stop to breathe atm!

Hoping for a woosh soon.

NorthOfAmazing · 22/10/2020 17:33

Sorry to hear so many people are feeling poorly and well done to all the loses too.

I’m still fighting off my ridiculous gain , being very strict today and already on my 3rd litre of water ... feel slightly like there’s a lake in my stomach !

B poached eggs and avocado
L HM leftover pork belly ( as in I cooked more than one portion yesterday , not like I couldn’t finish it off Grin ) with salad
D will be chicken wings ( actifry crispy ) with a load of coleslaw and buttered spinach

Quite fancy something casserole-y next ... will go trawl through the recipe thread.

KOKO everyone

MsAwesomeDragon · 22/10/2020 18:01

I'm sorry to hear about poorly people. I hope you all get better soon. Flowers

I've drunk 2.5 litres of water so far, most of it at school. Skipped lunch again as I was too busy, but had a snack of cucumber and corned beef after school and that will keep me happy til dinner. Not sure what we'll have for dinner, as that's dh's job. Next week will be my responsibility to cook, so will be trawling through the recipes threads for stuff I can batch cook and freeze for lazy/busy days.

I do miss ready meals/bung in the oven convenience food for those days when cooking is the last thing either of us want to be doing.

Lyrata · 22/10/2020 19:37

I just made an absolutely massive tray of cauliflower “buffalo wings” with hot sauce and creme fraiche for dipping.

They were a bit naughty as they had ground almonds in the crispy coating but they were my whole dinner (nearly 600g of cauliflower) so hopefully I won’t be punished too badly.

Other than that, a tiny bit of left-over lamb moussaka for lunch, with roasted peppers and mushrooms, and a coffee with double cream for breakfast.
