Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - our last week!

BIWI · 27/07/2020 08:18

It's odd, thinking back to when Bootcamp first started, how different things were. 9/10 weeks doesn't seem like it's a very long time, but it seems a very long time ago since we began, and we were in a very different place - with Covid-19 - to where we are now.

It is all feeling much more optimistic. Hopefully things will continue in this positive vein, and we can all get back to some kind of normality - or whatever is going to pass for normal now.

I hope very much that this Bootcamp has done what it set out to, i.e. to refocus us all and get back into the swing of a healthier way of eating, a healthier mindset and ways of caring for ourselves.

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet

Next Monday will be the final weigh-in, so I hope that this last week is a successful one for us all.

Ah, I didn't realise that was the case during BC lite. I've been overdoing the Diet Coke so I shall cut down. Thanks @BIWI

BIWI · 01/08/2020 11:47

While you can have artificial sweeteners in Bootcamp Light, it's occasionally and in moderation. So if you can cut it down/out that's much better.

BIWI thank you for your advice yesterday. I wrote an email this morning and included your bit about rewarding my skills!!! I’ll see what happens next...🙂

BIWI · 01/08/2020 23:59

Shall I claim commission? Grin

Good luck and I hope it works out for you Flowers

Hi all.

Been KOKO.

However last night we hosted friends as I really needed the distraction and now I'm nursing a heavy 6odd gin hangover and i definitely are crisps and a bun on a burger last night plus whatever i can't remember. Gutted about that as i don't even like buns! Dunnonwtf happened.

I was so close to 2 st! Can't bare to look at scales.

Right back on it today. Not sure i can face food anyways!

StuntNun · 02/08/2020 07:52

It happens to all of us Taking just get back on the wagon straight away and you'll be fine. If you do have a weight blip then it will come off again quickly as it's usually due to your glycogen stores refilling along with stored water. If you want to get rid of the stored glycogen more quickly then aerobic exercise will burn it off.

Takingontheworld · 02/08/2020 08:14

Interesting. Cos according to my emails I also bought a treadmill (and a mattress?) At 1am.

Rshard · 02/08/2020 08:17

Oh taking, that second message of yours made me proper 😂

Wormthatturned · 02/08/2020 08:42

Great instincts @takingontheworld, a treadmill AND a mattress.... clearly keeping all your options open!,

FizzyPink · 02/08/2020 08:52

Oohh @Takingontheworld what mattress did you buy? Weirdly I was also browsing them at 1am last night after deciding once and for all that the cheap IKEA pile of springs DP bought before we moved in together is not fit for purpose!

Takingontheworld · 02/08/2020 08:53

🤦‍♀️ honest to god.

It appears the neighbour and I have also agreed to co-adopt a cat that keeps breaking into our houses so I also need to work out how I'm getting out of that because I already have a bastard cat that destroys everything as is.

And this is why I don't drink!

MrsKoala · 02/08/2020 09:02

Grin is this really after only 6 single gins? That’s so funny. Best hangover cure I know is a couple of dioralyte (or similar rehydration) sachets and a couple of paracetamol.

Spent the day at Hastings yesterday and I had some ice cream as a planned treat. Had a lovely dressed crab and salad for dinner too. Thinking of a massive fry up now as I’m quite hungry this morning. In fact, I’ve noticed myself getting really hungry the last few weeks. Which is strange as usually by this stage I can take or leave food. But now I get really angry and snappy and a bit shaky/dizzy about every 4 hours till I eat. Confused

Mimosa1 · 02/08/2020 09:45

😁 @Takingontheworld that sounds like some evening !

I really recommend Hypnos mattresses btw. DH and I bought one last year and it's fab.

I'm losing weight slowly - 200g in 10 days. I've been having a lot of Deliveroo as it's been so hot and I wonder if that's the culprit - things look low carb but perhaps they are not. I am going to continue weighing in here on Mondays once BC is finished. Huge congratulations to everybody who has made it the whole 10 weeks!

Takingontheworld · 02/08/2020 09:51

I'm pretty much teetotal most of the year round... i probably drink once every 4 months if that!
Thee gin tasted so pretty. It was like i was drinking cordial 😳 did not pace ones self as i should have given then the lack of drinking generally making me quite a lightweight.

I've bought an Emma Mattress it seems. Guess we'll just hope for the best there since it wasn't on my radar previously.

Was really hoping to hit the 2st mark tomo but that ship has definitely sailed.

Still. If i don't weigh then I can maintain my 1st 13lb loss this bootcamp and thats good for me.

Bit sad this is officially "over" but I'll continue to weigh in here for accountability Smile

BIWI · 02/08/2020 10:57

Even if it's officially 'over' we're all still going to be here @Takingontheworld, chatting - I keep the chat threads going, and start new ones before we get to (if we have!) the next Bootcamp

Hello! 👋🏻

This has been another hectic week, Mr. Numbs was injured on his way to work a few days ago so now things are quite fraught at home. However, this has meant I've been taking DC out for some VERY long walks, using map my walk to see how far I'm going and how much I'm burning. It's made such a difference to my weight loss!

I feel sad that the bootcamp is coming to an and but I'm really glad to see that people will still be talking even after it's over. I'm so impressed that I saw the bootcamp and jumped in so quickly without hesitation, but I really wanted to make it very clear that I attribute that to BIWI, Athelstane and all of the amazing people here! I honestly would never have been able to stick to this without all of you, and I'm actually on track to being a reasonable weight again. I had started to believe I never would be again. I'm getting a bit teary eyed now Blush. I wish there was a proper way to thank everybody 💖

@BIWI , will you be starting a new bootcamp for new recruits? If you ever plan to, I would very much like to somehow tell MN how amazing your bootcamp is. I actually only found it because another poster created a whole thread to thank you for her weight loss. Also, if there's ever any other way I could help, please let me know Smile

😂

Do we all just stay together on a little chat thread like our own cohort or are we supposed to also join next bootcamps if we're still fat? Grin

nowlook · 02/08/2020 13:54

@Takingontheworld

Even the slim ones go onto the new bootcamp from memory!

How are you feeling now? I ate a curry last night and it was lovely treat. Guilt is a wasted emotion, so I'm just getting back on it.

In other news, I have fabulous new hair. Took four and a half hours to sort the roots, the highlights and the cut, but it's taken years off me (100% grey here!).

I am unfortunately ballooning in the heat though.

NumbsMet · 02/08/2020 14:25

I think I have enough padding to get me on to the next three or four bootcamps Grin will I have to wear a disguise? I could change my username to NotNumbsMet, nobody would be any the wiser! GrinGrin

8Track · 02/08/2020 14:29

Hope you're feeling better @Takingontheworld. Love the drunken shopping exploits!! I was the drunk one on friday - my own zoom leaving drinks. Up at 5am yesterday for an event, took my low carb food and didnt feel too bad!

Had a planned night off at a curry house, enjoyed every last mouthful. And I didnt just shovel carb for the sake of it!

Enjoying a sparkling wine in the sun today, finishing up the bottle before it goes flat of course. Whole baked mackerel tonight, might do some kind of butter sauce. And some patty pan squash, I think I'm going to mandolin them and do a sort of gratin. Or maybe baked like a jacket spud....who knows?!

Sorry to hear about Mr Numbs - was he cycling? I hope he is better soon and that all is well for the rest of you.

I love the chat here too. It is working for me and keeping me from regains even when I can't lose :)

1WildTeaParty · 02/08/2020 15:28

Wishing you a quick recovery @Takingontheworld and hoping that there are no more surprises from last night. (It is good that you haven't hacked the pentagon or agreed to invade a small country)

Remember to hide the computer in 4 months time when the gin is out again :)
