Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - our last week!

It's odd, thinking back to when Bootcamp first started, how different things were. 9/10 weeks doesn't seem like it's a very long time, but it seems a very long time ago since we began, and we were in a very different place - with Covid-19 - to where we are now.

It is all feeling much more optimistic. Hopefully things will continue in this positive vein, and we can all get back to some kind of normality - or whatever is going to pass for normal now.

I hope very much that this Bootcamp has done what it set out to, i.e. to refocus us all and get back into the swing of a healthier way of eating, a healthier mindset and ways of caring for ourselves.

Flowers

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet

Next Monday will be the final weigh-in, so I hope that this last week is a successful one for us all.

Dh makes a mean courgette sauce for pasta...I have mine with runner beans or broccoli..
Grated courgette, garlic, chorizo or bacon fried in a little olive oil, then add cream cheese , parmesan chilli flakes and a little sour cream.. .. Tis yum !
Im still sticking at the same I think, or maybe a pound down, which I am happy with..

FizzyPink · 31/07/2020 10:01

Gosh @Takingontheworld what a worrying time for you. Hope we get an update of some good news over the next few weeks 🙏🏼

I’ve been getting fraustrated at not breaking out of the 130s over the last few weeks and weighed myself this morning and I was 130.0 Went to the toilet a few minutes later and decided to weight again and 128.4!! Totally not cheating right Grin
I did also have a couple of glasses of prosecco at our BBQ last night so expecting to see that reflected in tomorrow’s weighing

Mimosa1 · 31/07/2020 10:04

I'm in the week 3 + TOM stay the same phase. I'm glad I was pre warned. Can't wait to see the scales start moving again though.

I have the day to myself today, hurrah! I'm planning to go for a very gentle jog/walk, in between work and a bit of tidying. Hope everyone stays safe in this heatwave! I d discovered that Pop no sugar added organic kids ice lollies have under 4g of carbs per serving so I may have to have one in the garden later.

Mimosa1 · 31/07/2020 10:05

And congrats @Turnedouttoes ! It's not cheating AT ALL!! I'm excited for you - I've got a bit obsessed about starting from a new number too Grin

devoncreamtea · 31/07/2020 10:57

@Takingontheworld - I’m sorry to read your news. What a shock for you all Flowers great to hear your positivity though - and others have said - I’m looking forward to some good news for you.

Well I have now weighed and have gained a good 5lbs. BUT, my shape is still the same - if anything better - and it isn’t showing on my tummy which is my most hated area!! So I’m pretty confident it’s not fat but glycogen stores or whatever it’s called. And a stricter bc for a few weeks will get me going again.

I am going to a dinner party this evening of a lovely friend. Really looking forward to it as she is great fun and very warm and good company. I’ve got a nice dress to wear which I really like as it is long (I’m V. short So long dresses are usually out for me !!) and I will take my warm socks (it’s a Hygge party!!) looking forward to child free time!

In other news I got my new contract and I notice I am not on the next scale. There was chat about ‘rewarding my skills’ etc etc ‘budget allows’ in my interview, but I was I nervous I didn’t take everything in!
Any advice on how to broach this with line manager from any of you much more savvy women?!? Thanks!

devoncreamtea · 31/07/2020 11:01

Amazing poo Laska 🤣🤣🤣 result!

And I misread ‘Guinea Pig’ as ‘Quinoa Pig’ which took a bit of unravelling. Clearly got carbs on the brain 🤣

Dear [line manager] (or 'hi'/'hey' depending on how formal they are!)

Thanks for sending through my new contract. I'm very much looking forward to starting my new role on [date]. However I do need to clarify with you the scale that is stated in the contract, as it was my understanding from my interview that I was to be paid at a scale higher than this.

Please could you clarify this for me? Naturally we need to agree this before I start.

Many thanks
Devoncreamtea

*Don't be apologetic or defensive about it in anyway, and keep it short, factual and (obviously!) courteous.

My own rule of thumb is always to ask myself 'what would a man say?' - as we women tend to be too cautious/apologetic/underselling of ourselves.

...but they’d write with even less words as the reading concentration is lower (again generalising and being very sarcastic).

I may have spent too long in the financial service industry Grin

Takingontheworld · 31/07/2020 11:36

Magic 2lb loss yesterday appears to still be there! 🤞

devoncreamtea · 31/07/2020 11:41

Thanks BIWI that’s perfect!

Totally agree with being socialised into feeling embarrassed to ask for things/refuse things/recognise our worth. I will tackle this today!!

BIWI · 31/07/2020 12:26

You might even want to add in:

... it was my understanding from my interview that I was to be paid at a scale higher than this given your desire to reward my skills

Are there any low carb frozen things??? Ice lollies etc. I am sooo hot. My at home desk is 30.5°!

ealingwestmum · 31/07/2020 16:21

Frozen yogurt with some berries Choux?

And I raise your 30.5 to 37 here; 39 degrees in my loft studio! 🤮 I can’t do heat anymore.

And then back to breathing tomorrow...

ealingwestmum · 31/07/2020 16:38

and chunks of plain chocolate...

Choux · 31/07/2020 16:49

@ealingwestmum oh Lordy I feel for you. I cannot focus here at now almost 31.

Do you just put a tub of Greek yogurt in the freezer then? And are we allowed berries or are they a treat / cheat for desperate times like these?

ealingwestmum · 31/07/2020 17:18

It is sour Choux but I hold back on adding sugar to the Greek yogurt just so I can indulge in the other stuff, but I think BIWI will advise against this treat! I mix it with some double cream and freeze in silicon and pretend it’s a milk lolly from our younger days Wink

MrsKoala · 31/07/2020 18:17

It was 36 degrees here in Kent. Utterly blissful! I love it Grin I’ve just picked 3 ice cream tubs of blackberries and 43 ripe figs from my tree and a carrier bag of apples. I’ve given half the figs to my friend who is the only other person I know who eats them and I’ve eaten 2 but they were eye wateringly sweet, so I dread to think the sugar content. Not sure what to do with them as they don’t last long once picked and can’t be frozen. I may have to just eat them all on Monday Grin

Mimosa1 · 31/07/2020 20:32

It's soooo hot.

To the pp looking for a cold treat, recommend the kids Pip ice lollies for a treat under 4g of carbs. I promise I'm not on their payroll!

I'm sorting through clothes at the moment. I have far too many clothes. There are some that are distinctly too small for now I'm keeping though on the hopes I'll get in to them soon!

NigellaAwesome · 31/07/2020 22:53

I thought it was hot here in France. 41 yesterday, and 39 today. Went out for dinner and had omelette and salad. Dear Lord - I sweated and sweated buckets at the restaurant, whilst I swatted hundreds of vicious midgies who were eating me. Topped off by DS accidentally knocking a glass of wine over me and the poor woman sitting behind me. Not the best experience I have had. Still in love with France though. Spent much of the day in the river.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/08/2020 09:15

Google ice lolly moulds. They’re everywhere—lots of supermarkets and Amazon. Ours are the £3 plastic sets.

We freeze Fanta, Diet Pepsi, sometimes vodka tonic Grin. Basically fill them with whatever you fancy that freezes and boom, there’s a lolly.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/08/2020 09:17

Also nice with tea in there. Just make it how you take it then freeze.

Laska2Meryls · 01/08/2020 09:19

Major NSV this morning ! Am back into my denim shorts !! Last worn 2 summers ago! .. Oh yes....😄

Mimosa1 · 01/08/2020 09:51

@Laska2Meryls you look fabulous!

I've had a frustrating week of STS. I know it's week 3, but this never happened on previous BCs if it doesn't shift, I know I can try cutting out Diet Coke and diary but I'm hoping it's week 3 gremlins and at least I'm not gaining. I've got 10+ kg to lose so it's frustrating.

BIWI · 01/08/2020 10:22

@Mimosa1

I know I can try cutting out Diet Coke

You shouldn't be drinking Diet Coke anyway!!!
