Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - our last week!

It's odd, thinking back to when Bootcamp first started, how different things were. 9/10 weeks doesn't seem like it's a very long time, but it seems a very long time ago since we began, and we were in a very different place - with Covid-19 - to where we are now.

It is all feeling much more optimistic. Hopefully things will continue in this positive vein, and we can all get back to some kind of normality - or whatever is going to pass for normal now.

I hope very much that this Bootcamp has done what it set out to, i.e. to refocus us all and get back into the swing of a healthier way of eating, a healthier mindset and ways of caring for ourselves.

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet

Next Monday will be the final weigh-in, so I hope that this last week is a successful one for us all.

Ooohhh I like the sound of the happy scale. I too am struggling with the lack of loss on a daily basis. Last summer I managed to lose a stone in 4 weeks on bootcamp but this time it’s week 3 for me and I’m only 5lbs down so far. It’s very much to do with the fact last summer I was doing body pump 3 times a week and walking over an hour a day but still disheartening!

We’ve got the first of our 3 bbqs of the weekend tonight. Our friends are bringing salads and I’ve got some lovely homemade chicken kebabs, prawns, steaks, halloumi and grilled veg so should be delicious!
We had our garden completely transformed last week (hence all the BBQs) from a total wasteland into what the builder described as “the only way is Essex comes to south London” Grin and I’m very put out that it’s looking fabulous but I can’t get the perfect after shots because my neighbour has his washing out Hmm

@cad186

Down to 9st 1 today, hoping to get to 9st by the end of bootcamp so nearly there! As I'm so close to my goal weight it is taking longer to lose but fingers crossed I'll be at target by next week. I'm reading The Obesity Code by Jason Fung at the moment, very interesting reading, has anyone else read it? Also ordered The Art and Science of Low Carb Performance too so that is next on my list.
Have you watched any of Jason Fung’s videos on Youtube? I would highly recommend them, along with others who post videos on low carb/keto/carnivore.

How very dare he, Turnedout. Doesn’t he know Bootcampers await said photos with bated breath?
@ShagMeRiggins, it was actually moving and profound, really.
I concur with @ShagMeRiggins and @StuntNun that weight is only part of the story. Our bodies hold weight differently at different points in our lives.

I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight but can't fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes thanks to my enormous stomach and c section shelf.

1WildTeaParty · 30/07/2020 16:57

@ShagMeRiggins good to see you again!
I was moved and profunded :)

Dr has found "something" in my left breast today. This is ahead of the smear and bloods for the excessive bleeding tomorrow. On fast track to the breast clinic but won't be seen for 11 days now.

God it's all a bit relentless atm. I've been having pain for months but i thought it was chest pain... anxiety or maybe heartburn.. but it's not it seems.

Anyways. This place has become a little space for me the last ten weeks. Hope you don't mind me sharing. Unfortunately i had to take the kids to the appointment.. so now dd has been beside herself over the C word all afternoon. I can't talk about it outloud so needed to write it somewhere.

I feel really tired you know.

Still. If my magical 2lb holds I'm 1lb exactly from 2st. Maybe the blood tests will nudge me a few grams too Grin darkhumour

BIWI · 30/07/2020 17:45

I'm sorry to hear that @Takingontheworld - but at least it's been found and you have an appointment soon.

Share away - if we can help you in any small way you can be sure that we will Flowers

I might even put my Big Stick away ...

Blimey Taking Flowers. Underneath the banter you still come across strong which is good, and much needed until more medical info is forthcoming.

BIWI · 30/07/2020 18:22

@Takingontheworld how old are your DC?

Mimosa1 · 30/07/2020 18:23

Thinking of you @Takingontheworld - good that the drs are taking this seriously to find out what's wrong and that you're being looked after. Please do keep posting (and if you fancied including a pic of your gorgeous garden / BBQ palace, I'd love some inspiration!)

Sorry for the TMI but I'm definitely having a heavier period since restarting this woe.

MrsKoala · 30/07/2020 18:25

@Wormthatturned it kind of happened by accident. I’d been growing out years of box dyes and going to a local salon who used Wella or Redken and was never quite happy with the colours. I had lots of build up and layering and banding of darker colours and it was really brassy where I was trying to lighten all the darker colours. They decided to switch to VS colours and contacted the colourist there for advice. She came to the salon and saw me and a few other customers and went thru the colour wheel and what I was trying to achieve. What I wanted was not a block helmet colour but still dark round my eyes then getting lighter from cheekbones down. So it was softer but without the maintenance of highlights from the roots. I’m sure any good colourist would go thru what you want and put together a style specific to you.

Not so great photo taken by h, but you can sort of see what I have.

They're under 10. One is oblivious but the other has classmate and close adult who have cancer so she immediately zoned in when mentioned.

I actually have sod all time to be ill and i feel more well now than i have done in a long time so I reason that its highly unlikely I am terribly ill. Just a bit shocked right now I think.

MrsKoala · 30/07/2020 18:31

Oh no @Takingontheworld. Sorry about my crass vain post. It wrote it this morning and forgot to press post. So hadn’t seen any updates. What a shock. It is good they’ve found it early and you are being fast tracked. Fingers and everything crossed for you. If you need any virtual support I’m sure we are all here for you. Xxxxxxx

Rshard · 30/07/2020 18:33

Takingontheworld · 30/07/2020 18:38

Oh please don't apologise mrs koala! Love a bit of hair chat.

Love Mumsnet, love Bootcamp.

WATER! WATER! WATER!

MrsKoala · 30/07/2020 20:10

Grin actually it’s the guinea pigs bedroom but they are avid readers so we built them a library.

I think I started my first bc in the October 5 years ago and fortunately because I generally stick to lower carb/Keto in between and go back to bc whenever I’ve put on weight (I’ve had a baby since then too) that I’ve been able to keep weight down and then don’t need to lose much when I com back to bc. So I do find it comes off quite easily now I know what I’m doing. Which is cheating a bit I suppose. I’m going to koko tho as I’m feeling really good atm and for the first time in ever I don’t have a flab bulge over my bra strap - altho that may be because I’ve had to move to crop tops as I’m so scraggy at the front I’ve got not much to put in a bra.

After years of misery counting calories and doing horrible diets I can say this woe really works for me in more ways than just weight loss.
