Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - our last week!

It's odd, thinking back to when Bootcamp first started, how different things were. 9/10 weeks doesn't seem like it's a very long time, but it seems a very long time ago since we began, and we were in a very different place - with Covid-19 - to where we are now.

It is all feeling much more optimistic. Hopefully things will continue in this positive vein, and we can all get back to some kind of normality - or whatever is going to pass for normal now.

I hope very much that this Bootcamp has done what it set out to, i.e. to refocus us all and get back into the swing of a healthier way of eating, a healthier mindset and ways of caring for ourselves.

Flowers

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet

Next Monday will be the final weigh-in, so I hope that this last week is a successful one for us all.

Hi, I messed up my shopping and have got 2 cauliflowers to use.
I remember seeing the quiche someone made using cauliflower as the crust.
Sorry I can't recall who posted it, but has anyone saved the link for it please.

MrsKoala · 29/07/2020 14:05

We are also having a bbq this weekend. I always do chicken drumsticks and burgers for the kids but then something else for us. I think this time it may be steaks. I also have always some kind of slaw salad and oily marinated aubergines which I love all charred and smoky (I do a version of a Nigella ‘forever summer’ salad with feta, mint and chillis sprinkled over) - apols to the poster who finds them slimy Grin but I love them. Can’t remember if it was @BrassicaBabe ?

OneFootintheRave · 29/07/2020 14:34

@Rshard

Thanks BIWI for the new thread, can’t believe this is week 10! This boot camp has been a lifeline for me and came along at exactly the right time in lockdown.

I’ve stayed the same this week, first time this bootcamp so ok with it. Well done to everyone who is posting a loss on the scales, looser jeans or feeling healthier and happier.

I’ll be hanging around after this week for sure.

Same from me, this thread appeared like magic at the perfect moment, for the first time in my life I was ready to make a diet change and I honestly believe I will stick with it. Thanks so much @BIWI.

Ah @venusandmars, good to hear of another with weird weight fluctuations!

Just had lunch of the last of my fathead dough in some mini pizzas, very envious DP here so think I will make them as a treat next week for us both!!

Has anyone tried it cold and leftover? I need a 'packed lunch' (and breakfast) for Saturday after getting up at 5am. It's my last day of work the day before, so I am expecting to be battling a slight hangover after a glass or two of cava on the Friday night!!

Any access to a microwave 8track?

No experience with fat head pizza but I believe it’s egg-based dough and I’m not keen on cold eggs.

On the other hand, you could be our guinea pig and report back?

ShagMeRiggins · 29/07/2020 15:47

Ooh, and I had an interesting trip down memory lane last night re weight and why I’m wasn’t on board with this lockdown Bootcamp (didn’t go off the rails, but didn’t get on board, just here for the craic, really.)

I must remember to post about it but I’ve just finished making chicken soup, a large batch of tuna salad, and about to do some devilled eggs because for some reason the spirit has moved me.

Husband away this weekend taking eldest back to university so clearly I want lots of items for me and the other three to eat without my having to cook much! Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 29/07/2020 15:50

Hey! Where did my hair post go?!

What I said was that I got my hair done and would leave it to y’all to decide which is before and which is after. Totally amusing myself...

Lovely thick hair @ShagMeRiggins. I hate mine, it's so fine, and a lot fell out over the last year due to work stress. I went to the hairdresser last week and he chopped it all off.

@AWryGiraffe I am in the Dordogne. It's absolutely beautiful. We are barbecuing tonight, but I missed all the bbq chat before doing the shopping. Aubergine slices sound gorgeous. I can also recommend thick slices of courgette, well oiled.

@Freetodowhatiwant well done on the new start. Thanks

BIWI · 29/07/2020 17:20

Pah! That's nothing Shag. Mine was so grey it was mortifying.

StuntNun · 29/07/2020 17:35

Turned this courgette salad is a firm favourite of mine for barbecues.

The 0% fat yogurt was pretty awful even with extra thick double cream mixed in. The mouthfeel was all wrong.

ShagMeRiggins · 29/07/2020 17:36

I didn’t show you my grey, BIWI. I don’t have loads but I do have this huge strip across the front of my hairline—very Cruella DeVille.

Not enough grey to go grey in a good way, but enough in a concentrated and highly visible area to make me resemble a Disney villain. Nice.

Hope you’ve had yours sorted by now. Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 29/07/2020 17:39

StuntNun that salad looks so fresh and easy. Must admit I was judging it a bit until I saw it say to “add dressing of your choice” Grin

BIWI · 29/07/2020 17:51

Oh yess! The relief was tremendous. I know that we should embrace the grey, really, but I look so worn out and tired and old that it really doesn't suit me. My SIL on the other hand, looks amazing with hers.

OP posts:
ealingwestmum · 29/07/2020 17:51

That’s not grey Shag, don’t people pay £££ to have tonality like that? Both pics are good!

Mine was so grey is mine IS TOTALLY grey in my case. Only I could work for a major hair colourant company in the 90’s; have free access to product and become 100% allergic in one application. I reacted so badly and looked like the elephant man, with the skin on my head constricting to what felt like a head 10 times smaller. There’s a reason there’s a disclaimer to test EVERY time on the box 😱

ealingwestmum · 29/07/2020 17:52

Ah, makes sense...cross post Shag

BIWI · 29/07/2020 17:54

OMG @ealingwestmum that's awful!

OP posts:
ealingwestmum · 29/07/2020 17:58

The good thing is that it’s been one less thing for me to worry about though!

Ifeelfat · 29/07/2020 18:04

Interesting conversation about going grey - it’s very relevant to me atm as just yesterday had to decide if I was going to go for it or... not. Like Biwi sadly I’d love to embrace it but can’t yet, it just makes me look too washed out. Hairdresser suggested multicolours and interspersing it, so actually going lighter but not grey, yet. Love it, it’s pretty natural I hope. Certainly better than anything I’ve managed with a box from Boots...

Btw StuntNun, I bloody hate courgette but seem to have 3 in fridge. Never occurred to me to try them raw... genius! Lunch tomorrow, in sun, hopefully.

Rshard · 29/07/2020 18:46

Can relate to the grey hair conversation. When the hairdresser reopened, she could only offer enough time to do my roots or cut. That was a no brainer.

Your hair looks lovely shagme and ifeelfat.

Takingontheworld · 29/07/2020 19:04

No grey hairs here but am attempting curly girl method. Mostly still in the confused phase tbh.

Mystical gain gone.. plus a few grams extra Grin

14.1.2.. comeonnnn 13s!

Saw my sister today. We talk about weight all the time and she didnt notice weight loss either.. I'm honestly beginning to feel like it not real and I've just got dodgy scales. Wtf.

Takingontheworld · 29/07/2020 19:06

Also really kicking myself for all the times I took "start photos" only to fucking quit. The one time in a decade i actually lose weight and did i take any pictures? Did i fuck!

ShagMeRiggins · 29/07/2020 19:43

ealing here’s the Cruella spot. Grey!!

There’s a reason there’s a disclaimer to test EVERY time on the box

Have to admit I had a moan when I was asked to take a patch test (different hairdresser I used to go to because my regular one couldn’t see me until end of August—fuck that—) but it’s turns out that the hairdresser I did see has developed her own allergy to certain types of dyes so I’m now suitably chastised and won’t moan because I do know anyone can develop an allergy to just about anything at any time. Blush

Roots or cut no brainier, Rshard, why do they even ask?! Grin

Taking take some pictures now. Right now!!! It will still be worth it.

Tonight I’m having chicken soup for dinner and shall spend the rest of the evening surreptitiously admiring my hair.

Happy Wednesday!

ShagMeRiggins · 29/07/2020 20:02

Roots or cut no brainier, Rshard

Brainier is obviously my hoity toity French half coming out...Hmm

ealingwestmum · 29/07/2020 20:11

I think you’ll find the industry describing your quirky colouring as ash blonde Shag Grin
