Final Week of Low Carb Bootcamp ... or is it?!

BIWI · 22/06/2020 06:53

Morning all!

Spreadsheet is here

This was, initially, supposed to be the last week of a 'short, sharp shock' Bootcamp. However, I know that many of us have really got the bit between our teeth and it seems too soon to stop!

The very lovely Guardian of the Spreadsheet @AthelstaneTheUnready already took the precaution of adding a few extra weeks to the spreadsheet, so at the moment we're all set to go up until w/c 20 July.

If, though, you only signed up for 5 weeks and feel like you're being lured into a false promise, obviously you can still have this as your final week Grin

Whatever you decide - welcome to week 5.

Hopefully the doldrums of weeks 3 & 4 will have passed, and the scales will start to move again.

Remember to KOKO - put down all those slices of cake and cheesecake - and stay focused on cutting the carbs. Don't forget to keep your fat intake high, and keep an eye on the things we've introduced in Bootcamp Light.

Good luck Flowers

Really pleased about the extension too.
I've recorded a loss of 5.5lbs this week - but that's really across the last 2 weeks, as last Monday I was .5lbs up but had seen 3lbs lower than that which was totally wiped out by me going off piste last Saturday night.
I was so annoyed at myself that I went back to Boot camp ordinaire last week and upped my water intake and exercise. It took me until Thursday to get back to the weight I'd been before (made me realise it wasn't worth it) and since then I've also lost another 2lbs which I'm delighted about.
Total loss so far of 12lbs so will KOKO

prettybird · 22/06/2020 13:58

Woo hoo! SmileSmileSmile

I've smashed my initial Boot Camp target: down 2.5lb from last week to 11st 8.5lb ShockGrin That's over 10lb this Boot Camp so far Halo

I'm going to make my new Boot Camp target to have lost a stone - with Bonus but not essential as I'll get there anyway Wink points if I can get to where I was at the start of Lock Down (c11st 3lb I'd actually got lower but it hadn't "set" lower, iyswim )

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/06/2020 13:59

STS this week so I'm happy about the extension. Thanks for extending!

Freetodowhatiwant · 22/06/2020 14:18

Well done @prettybird that's brilliant.

Thank you @nowlook re the separation. It's not easy, very sad after 20 years together but it's my decision so I am the one doing better emotionally if there's a comparison. Even though it's still hard and sad. We have two DCs age 5 and 7.

I have managed to edit the spreadsheet and it tells me that so far I have lost 7.9lbs on bootcamp (after a 1lb rise last week) so I am really chuffed with that.

I don't have a goal per se but overall I would love to get back down to 60kg and am currently 63.3 (I think). So maybe that's my goal.

IF travel plans go ahead I will be in a Mediterranean country two weeks on Wednesday for the whole summer. But we will see. It will be BIKINI time then too. Da da daaaaa. So it would be nice to lose at least another kilo in the next couple of weeks.

gruntley123 · 22/06/2020 16:15

@NigellaAwesome Woot, a brilliant week for you! I am slower but trying to keep up :)

TenCornMaidens · 22/06/2020 17:48

Jumping on, will read properly later. Have been trying keto for a few days and just want some support!

BrassicaBabe · 22/06/2020 19:35

Hi all. Checking in.

Day 15 without alcohol today. Fancy a glass 7/10. Could be worse. Finding a have more time when I don't drink. A double edged sword at the moment eh. After a drink I'd find that was my day pretty much done. I'd never head out on my bike, clean the kitchen or polish off paper work after the first glass of wine. But sans wine I feel I can get stuff done.

Didn't see the nine this morning but sure that's a temporary thing. Happy enough with that.

DTs birthday tomorrow so a family bbq. But happy I can control the food on that one!

I’m missing a fruit-like snack mid afternoon Ish, something cold and refreshing. Any ideas? I haven’t had any fruit yet since bc light.

Today I had
1pm buttered kale, fried egg and sour cream
3pm 4 x almonds (this is when I miss the something more refreshing)
6pm salmon filet and courgettes in butter
7pm small bowl Greek yoghurt

venusandmars · 22/06/2020 20:27

Would celery hit the mark? Or cucumber? Or a wee gazpacho like thing with celery, cucumber, a small amount if tomato, garlic, parsley, other herbs. Plus olive oil, salt, pepper sherry ? Make a big dish and keep in the fridge.

venusandmars · 22/06/2020 20:30

Maybe rhubarb compote with orange zest and ginger have I mentioned that rhubarb is actually a vegetable?

Ninkanink · 22/06/2020 20:38

I would have a handful of berries. Probably try to keep it to every other day or so.

An ice cold drink of sparkling water with cucumber and mint, or maybe with a couple of dashes of angostura bitters and a slice of lime, would be my second choice.

OneFootintheRave · 22/06/2020 20:44

@Freetodowhatiwant we are at the same point. I'm at 63.3 KG and my goal is 60KG but actually I'm going to say 59.99 and that way staying under 60 will be my benchmark.

My only worry is that (as has been discussed before) is that my tits could deflate and my 51 yr old face could look a bit drawn. Let's see.

All the support here means a lot. Thanks to everyone.

prettybird · 22/06/2020 20:46

....or make some of my summer fruits, mascarpone and Greek yoghurt (or cream) ice cream ("recipe" at the end of the last thread) - and restrict yourself to just a spoonful Wink

Why do you need to snack? By now, you should have switched from carb-burning to fat-burning, so you shouldn't be hungry between meals. Are you genuinely hungry, or is snacking just a habit?

How funny onefoot that we weigh exactly the same. My wedding weight ten years ago was about 58kg, mind you I was super fit Alf lifting really heavy weights so had abs and all sorts. I would love to be slightly under 60 too but yes I worry too about the face. I’m getting a dash of Botox as soon as we are allowed though! Got it last year for the first time and love it.

Yes I am actually hungry - well it’s more of an empty feeling - between lunch and dinner @biwi. I’m not really hungry before lunch or after dinner but that mid way point I do feel a bit empty. Those are some great suggestions though.

BIWI · 22/06/2020 22:06

You really shouldn't be snacking between meals though - if you're genuinely hungry between meals, this would suggest that you're not eating enough fat (and probably not drinking enough water)

OP posts:
Freetodowhatiwant · 22/06/2020 22:16

Maybe not enough fat or water then. I can handle the 17/18 hour fast and not eating until 1pm but the 5 hours between lunch and dinner is definitely more of a challenge. I don’t want to eat dinner any earlier though as that makes the evening really long.

Freetodowhatiwant · 22/06/2020 22:18

I posted it before but here it is again. Maybe because I don’t eat meat and didn’t have any fish today too. I don’t really fancy fish every day though. How would you tweak this? This is the first time I’ve had almonds as I just couldn’t face more veg and cheese or eggs.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 23/06/2020 00:13

Finally lost 2lb this week so I’ve broken my stalled streak. So one month on and I’ve gone from 16st 1 to 15 stone!!

Still got a way to go, obviously, but so thankful the scales have moved again today!

Fillet steak and turnip gratin for dinner. Still enjoying my food and not really feeling hungry any more so I’m definitely up for a few extra weeks.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 23/06/2020 00:18

Sorry @AthelstaneTheUnready I don’t seem to be able to update the spreadsheet - could you pop 210lb on there for this week pretty please! Flowers

Puppermint · 23/06/2020 07:08

Good morning campers, I've done a HIIT workout and am sat with a coffee contemplating the day. Scales have inched down a little, but not back to my BC low yet. Fingers are so swollen that I've had to take my rings off so hoping for big whoosh once AF shows up.

Yesterday's food was:
B: left over pork fried 'rice' with shallots, mushrooms, courgette, cauli rice, egg, soy sauce, garlic and five spice powder. Bloody lovely.
D: chicken breast stuffed with pesto and cheese coated in Parmesan and ground almonds, big salad with oil and vinegar dressing.

Also had about 4l water trying to flush out the extra weight. Will aim for similar today.

Rshard · 23/06/2020 07:39

Morning

Well done puppermint, I’ve been for a run and watered the garden and am about to copy your coffee. Warm already out there.

Dd and I are meeting a friend from work and her ds later, haven’t seen her for 3 months so looking forward to that

Ragwort · 23/06/2020 07:48

Very impressive morning Puppermint & Rshard, haven't done much myself apart from spend too long on Mumsnet, shower and wash hair, made three separate packed lunches Hmm and enjoyed a coffee with cream.

That chicken recipe sounds lovely, will try it myself.

I am still not weighing myself, my scales are completely wrong so it is disheartening to use them but I am already fitting into a size smaller clothes which is great.

nowlook · 23/06/2020 07:51

Crikey. I've watered the plants and sent an email (acknowledging another email). I have already had a litre of water though Halo

TenCornMaidens · 23/06/2020 07:51

Morning! Will do spreadsheet and so on unless it would be better to start on the next round? Breakfast this morning - bacon and eggs.
