Final Week of Low Carb Bootcamp ... or is it?!

BIWI · 22/06/2020 06:53

Morning all!

Spreadsheet is here

This was, initially, supposed to be the last week of a 'short, sharp shock' Bootcamp. However, I know that many of us have really got the bit between our teeth and it seems too soon to stop!

The very lovely Guardian of the Spreadsheet @AthelstaneTheUnready already took the precaution of adding a few extra weeks to the spreadsheet, so at the moment we're all set to go up until w/c 20 July.

If, though, you only signed up for 5 weeks and feel like you're being lured into a false promise, obviously you can still have this as your final week Grin

Whatever you decide - welcome to week 5.

Hopefully the doldrums of weeks 3 & 4 will have passed, and the scales will start to move again.

Remember to KOKO - put down all those slices of cake and cheesecake - and stay focused on cutting the carbs. Don't forget to keep your fat intake high, and keep an eye on the things we've introduced in Bootcamp Light.

Good luck Flowers

Morning! And thank you SO much BIWI for the bc and bc extension! I will certainly stick around.
On the subject of sticking - scales sts this week. But have had AF this week and had a couple of wines, so seems reasonable. Hope for a downward turn soon!
Got to rush out to work so will check thread later. Fingers crossed for you all!

Almahart · 22/06/2020 07:23

2bs down. First week for me so am a bit disappointed but I had a lot of wine yesterday for a Father's Day dinner.

This week there will be a lot of outdoor socialising so that might make tings trickier. Should have done this in strict lockdown, would have been a doddle!

Final word on the leek and celeriac mash - I added toasted pine nuts . I know, not allowed in first week but they were delicious

Elpheba · 22/06/2020 07:30

I’m 100% sticking! One pound down for me which I’m pleased with as I was very much off the wagon last Monday and Tuesday. Was DS’s bday and I lost the plot and was tempted to just jack it in. BUT (restrictions permitting) we’ve decided to go to in-laws in four weeks time. I’m 11 pounds down on when I lost saw them and now have a new mojo to try and lose a decent chunk more before we go. Especially as I’ll be in a swimming costume! So hooray for BC continuing!

Notlostjustexploring · 22/06/2020 07:40

Can I come back and join please? I did start off well, but I hit my lockdown wall a couple of weeks ago and I was just too tired and miserable to care about anything much at all, let alone eating well. I seem to have stepped off my self pitying spiral and once again desperately want to improve my health.

So thank you for extending Bootcamp!!! Gives me a second chance!

SparklesAllOver · 22/06/2020 07:46

Thanks, BIWI and Athelstane, so pleased you are extending Bootcamp, really grateful for this as finally getting back into control of my body. Will weigh-in later as working but it appears I have lost more from my upper body, I guess everyone is different but I would love to lose some weight from my legs so hopefully that will happen if I continue this, which I intend to do. Might have a measure later to see if cm lost.
Good luck to all bootcampers, hope you have had a successful week.

nowlook · 22/06/2020 07:52

Thanks! I'm especially pleased because this is only week three for me.

10lbs down in the first two weeks (I'm thrilled!), so hoping for some NSVs over the coming two.

That said, I am giving myself a kick up the arse. I've not eaten enough fat and didn't drink enough water this weekend. I think IF allows me an excuse to slip into old habits like eating once a day: my 16:8 looks more like 23:1 which of course is not sustainable. Trouble is, I'm not hungry when I'm doing this woe.

But, I shall be better today.

Laska2Meryls · 22/06/2020 07:58

Hooray! Worth getting down on my knees for !! Oh mighty ans venerable Lady of the Big Stick BIWI
So week 4 and only 1lb down despite really sticking to it .. But I am not daunted.. The Quest goes on ! Grin

LostaraYil · 22/06/2020 07:59

Thanks so much BIWI and Athelstane, I will keep going hopefully for a long time yet! Also thanks to everyone else, I'm loving the support and chat on the thread.
2lbs down this week, despite the wine last night. I'm finally back in work today so I'll see how that affects my eating, but usually I'm better at IF and being sensible when I'm working.
Hoping for a good weigh in for everyone!

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/06/2020 08:01

Morning thanks for the extra week. 3.4 lbs off since last week but I did put a little weight on so 3 lbs off in the past fortnight.

Rshard · 22/06/2020 08:03

Thanks BIWI and athlestane for carrying on with the full 10 weeks! I think that boot camp came along at exactly the right point in lockdown for so many of us, hence getting stuck in.

Another 1lb gone for me, so 9 in total which I’m really happy with.

Wishing everyone a good week 5!

Takingontheworld · 22/06/2020 08:06

Hi All.

I had a semi-scheduled weekend 'off' and am full of bitter regret. I had a small portion of mash on saturday and yesterday roasties and a yorkshire with dinner, alongside fruits and some extra treats like chocolate.

Felt sluggish, awfully bloated and spent this morning in agonising stomach pain. I hated how it made me feel and it's made me realise I actually just don't want it. We had my inlaws all w.e and with it being fathers day etc we were doing alot of work on the garden and I wanted to not have to overthink or resist-i didn't binge or gorge, but after 4 weeks on less than 25g carb per day my body was not happy.

Because of this I'm going back to the start for this week, no nuts, fruits etc. Gonna try IF better too and REALLY focus on my water esp with the heatwave due.

Mindset has shifted from weightloss->needing to feel good again.

Puppermint · 22/06/2020 08:08

Thank you so much BIWI and Athel for extending bootcamp, these five weeks have flown by. I have a long way to go so am in this for the long haul this time.

That said, I'm half a pound up this morning. But I did have wine fri, sat and Sunday and a few low carb treats for my birthday so I'm fine with that. In previous years I'd easily have put on half a stone with a good weekend off track. I'm also due my period any day and I was 4lbs lighter on Friday so I know it's just a wine induced blip.

Not sure of the plan for today but know it includes lots of water, water, water 💦

Have a great Monday everyone Grin

nowlook · 22/06/2020 08:08

@Rshard
Completely agree about the timing. I suddenly went from "Oh, I can't wait to get back to some sense of normality" to "Shit, I can't possibly go out looking like this" a few weeks ago Grin

BIWI · 22/06/2020 08:10

Almahart - you're disappointed with 2lbs, when you've had both wine and nuts?!

Another one here who will definitely be around for the full ten weeks -and agree about the perfect timing.

I’m now entering the plateau stage, I thought it would be more like week 5 for me and it is. No real weight loss but no real gain either so I’ll take that. Still got a long way to go though so it had better bloody pick up again...

greengoose21b · 22/06/2020 08:32

Grrrr...damn those sticky scales. Since June 8th I'm down a grand total of 0.8 pounds.

I'm barely cracking 1000 steps a day in lockdown home working though, so if I weren't on this WOE I think I'd be packing the pounds on at a steady rate.

Wormthatturned · 22/06/2020 08:41

Morning all! Thanks for the official extension. Think it's going to be needed here as I'm my scales are a bit stuck. By standing on my toes and squinting I awarded myself a 1lb loss this week - but that was mainly points for endeavour in the hope that achievement will follow. Soon, please!

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 22/06/2020 08:56

Morning.

No official loss this week but I'm due on this week so probably that.

On Friday I was down 1.5lbs and my lowest since before kids so holding out hope for next week.

NigellaAwesome · 22/06/2020 08:57

Good morning! Thanks for new thread BIWI and extra spreadsheet columns Athelstane.

2 pounds off this week, bringing it to 14 pounds total this boot camp, just over half way to my goal. Oddly, those 2 pounds off occurred between last Monday and Tuesday, and I have resolutely stayed the same weight each day since, but I'm happy in the knowledge that I am sticking to it 100% so things will move when they are ready.

Navigated a bbq heavy weekend (both days) where others were having wine and puddings. I allowed myself a bowl of strawberries and cream, and that was it. 😇

I still track on MFP (I need the accountability and visual reminders) and use keto sticks. I average about 9% carbs, 21% protein and 70% fat.

I hope everyone has a great day!

BlusteryShowers · 22/06/2020 09:06

I'm keeping going with it definitely. I've put on 2lbs after a takeaway on Friday (followed by the leftovers on Saturday Confused) so it's well deserved. Got right back on it yesterday though so hopefully they'll come off as easily as they went on. Yes? Surely?

I have had some compliments this week too so it's keeping me motivated.

Sauvignonismysaviour · 22/06/2020 09:07

Thanks BIWI & Athelstane for the spreadsheet & extension! I'm definitely up for carrying on til July 20th especially as it's my birthday on Wednesday and there will be banoffee pie and fizz

FINALLY 2lbs down after a relatively well behaved week.
3lbs to go til I'm where I want to be on the scales. Having said that, it is just a number and when I get there it might not be enough so I might need to re-assess. Those last couple lbs are always hard to lose and I know this week is going to be a bit naughty on Weds & Fri. To know we've got a few more weeks of chat and support is fantastic news in this quest!

Hopeislost · 22/06/2020 09:13

Am grateful for the extension as I still have a long way to go. 1lb off for me this week, although half of that just negates last week's gain.

I stuck to my plan yesterday although I didn't eat all my strawberries; they tasted too sweet! I ate the rest of my clotted cream with a spoon!

Freetodowhatiwant · 22/06/2020 09:21

Morning all! I’m so pleased we are going to carry on thanks @BIWI and others who help. I can’t seem to edit the spreadsheet from my phone and have had to relinquish the laptop to a child but I’m 139.5 which I am l am very pleased to say is actually 3lbs off! I will update later but if anyone’s bored and doing their own please feel free to add me too.

I did put on a pound last week so it was probably just making up for that. But it also puts me firmly in the 9s. Hurrah! Just hope I can keep it up. I have a couple of social things this week which I am very much looking forward to as my life has felt very small recently and I can’t wait to get out and see some friends. There will be wine but I will try to keep it in check.

Laska2Meryls · 22/06/2020 09:26

I am going to have to do an all day car journey on Wednesday so need ideas for non messy LC food to take.. thought of
Hard boiled eggs, ham and cheese rollitos , maybe egg muffins. ..its all a bit samey though
