Final Week of Low Carb Bootcamp ... or is it?!

BIWI · 22/06/2020 06:53

Morning all!

Spreadsheet is here

This was, initially, supposed to be the last week of a 'short, sharp shock' Bootcamp. However, I know that many of us have really got the bit between our teeth and it seems too soon to stop!

The very lovely Guardian of the Spreadsheet @AthelstaneTheUnready already took the precaution of adding a few extra weeks to the spreadsheet, so at the moment we're all set to go up until w/c 20 July.

If, though, you only signed up for 5 weeks and feel like you're being lured into a false promise, obviously you can still have this as your final week Grin

Whatever you decide - welcome to week 5.

Hopefully the doldrums of weeks 3 & 4 will have passed, and the scales will start to move again.

Remember to KOKO - put down all those slices of cake and cheesecake - and stay focused on cutting the carbs. Don't forget to keep your fat intake high, and keep an eye on the things we've introduced in Bootcamp Light.

Good luck Flowers

Great ideas NowLook
Babybels and chicken kebabs on list.. yes water may be a prob, (but hopefully I can hang out until I get there ! Then start empty on way back ! )

bibliomania · 22/06/2020 11:08

Happy to stick around for the extended version.

I will pass over the unfortunate incident of the caramel wafers yesterday. Too sweet to even enjoy.

venusandmars · 22/06/2020 11:15

Jumped on scales this morning and was 1 pound off. Great. Stepped off and back on and was 1.5 pounds up. I've thrown the scales in the garage and I'm not speaking to them for a couple of days.

L - avocado, followed by left over broccoli and cabbage with a fried egg
D chicken and salad

venusandmars · 22/06/2020 11:22

Had 2 different 60th birthday events to attend at the weekend. First was a picnic so I took my own and resolutely refused all offers of cake, chocolate brownies etc. And ignored all the cries of "oh you're so good". No, nothing good about it, sticking to a woe that makes me feel good and healthy.

At the second event I accepted a glass of champagne in a sunny garden.

Maybe that's what my scales were reacting to: "refused cake - 1lb off"

(30 seconds later) "Sorry I just remembered you had champagne, take a penalty weight of 1.5lb"

Randomfatty · 22/06/2020 11:29

small move in scales but glad the bootcamp will be extended for a while as still have loads to lose!

I made the mayo recipe someone posted on one of the threads last night - very easy and very tasty - flavoured with lemon / lime coriander and some dried chilli - was very tasty with my kale salad last night.
L - today usual omelette with feta and salad
D - chicken thighs with something maybe roasted veg or courgettini

Randomfatty · 22/06/2020 11:30

@venusandmars I know how you feel - I had lost another 0.1kg but when I jumped back on it went up 0.3kg - so I give up as well! Sad Sad

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 22/06/2020 11:32

Stayed the same this week. Must KOKO - it's when I start to stall that I tend to give up 😕 still on OMAD so I must be due a whoosh, surely?

ealingwestmum · 22/06/2020 11:38

I think I barged my way onto last week's thread; I'd like to stay if I may and more so now it's been extended!

Travelled a 200 mile round trip this weekend to see my mother for first time since Jan for her 80th. Was so lovely to see her, but a little stressful, trying to ensure she remained safe as a high risk senior that has not seen a soul since lock down. We had take out pizza as the easiest food option, and I didn't have the heart to not eat as she is definitely from the generation that still thinks eggs and anything other than red top skilled milk is evil, and doesn't get this WOE. I thought I had been really missing stodgy carbs like Papa Johns, but it actually made me feel ill, the predicable post suffering of bloating and subsequent weight add did nothing but strengthen my resolute to get back on track.

CalendulaAndRoses · 22/06/2020 11:41

@venusandmars that made me LOL

how was your meditation training? I've had to cancel my week long training next month due to travel restrictions. Doing it online over a period of 8 weeks instead in autumn which doesn't fill me with joy but have promised myself a proper week's retreat next summer when hopefully things are back to normal re travel

Rshard · 22/06/2020 11:56

Ooh nowlook, I’m in Derbyshire.

NoraEphronsneck · 22/06/2020 11:56

Morning everyone, another one here determined to stick with it to the bitter end Grin

I've lost another 3 pounds so that's just over a stone now which I'm thrilled about it.

I didn't think I would lose any this week as I've got my period and have felt really sluggish, I also struggled on the water frontt his weekend as was quite busy rushing around so it went by the by.

I also had a yorkshire pudding with lunch (no roasties though) - which tbh wasn't worth it. I had raspberries and double cream afterwards which was delicious.

Being able to chat in this group has made a massive difference to me, and I feel so enthusiastic about doing this I don't recognise myself.

Will KOKO

Freetodowhatiwant · 22/06/2020 12:08

Being able to chat here has made a big difference to me too, just makes you feel you’re not alone. I’m packing up the house for my impending separation which is quite sad but whilst I’m doing it I’m trying on all my bikinis! I AM a 45 year old mother of two so I am never going to look perfect but I’m getting there. It’s when I sit down it’s a problem as there’s a nice couple of flabby rolls! It seems I can stand up and lie down but not go between the two.

Takingontheworld · 22/06/2020 12:29

Back on it like sonic today.
Managed to fast 15hrs and now just tucking into halloumi in garlicky tenderstem broccoli, cabbages, shit tonne of spinach and 3 sliced tomatoes.

Having my favourite tikka chicken for tea. Aiming for 16.8 tomorrow.

Final Week of Low Carb Bootcamp ... or is it?!
nowlook · 22/06/2020 12:30

@Rshard
I know! I remember from last year...but I'm weird like that Grin
Nice to see a bit of sun after last week!

SparklesAllOver · 22/06/2020 12:35

So, I had a loss of 0.4 this week. I measured myself though and thrilled to have a great NSV, have lost a total of 28.5 cms from neck, back, bust, waist, hips, thighs and knees. I feel slimmer and bra looser, haven't been exercising quite as much, but always go for a decent daily dog walk. Well done to all!

SparklesAllOver · 22/06/2020 12:37

Freetodowhatiwant, that made me chuckle about the bikini, totally get it!

nowlook · 22/06/2020 12:52

@SparklesAllOver that's amazing- well done!
I'm only week three and this is historically where I start to see a change in the way my clothes fit (or rather don't atm), so fingers crossed!

Freetodowhatiwant · 22/06/2020 12:53

Yes sparkles it’s how to get from standing to lying down. Falling back horizontally onto the sand might hurt but at least it will keep the rolls from rolling.

Rshard · 22/06/2020 12:54

Very well remembered nowlook! It certainly is, just had my lunch in the garden. We’re set for 30 later in the week too I believe

OneFootintheRave · 22/06/2020 12:55

Checking in!

I'm on board with the extension. I'm so glad I just happened to notice the original thread which appeared at precisely the right moment in time for me and for that I am eternally grateful. Who knows, I could be stuck in a rut still if it was not for that serendipity!

I won't weigh in today as I did my first proper one on new scales on Saturday and was too excited to keep quiet. I think I may stick to fortnightly or monthly weighing actually. I think there will be a slowing down for me now but I am sticking to plan about 90%. It's the odd weekend glass of red wine and the odd square of 80% chocolate where I cheat but overall the plan is working well and I have no intention of letting up yet. I have had some compliments and a few NSVs, it's awesome.

I have noted that celeriac and leek mash, it's just that celeriac is a bit rare around here. That cheesecake recipe I have stored for future reference and the frozen berry Greek yoghurt could be wheeled out in the future as a treat.

Just "sitting with hunger pangs" for a few hours and distracting myself with work or something has been an eye -opener for me and I am getting used to it. There is a big (relatively) outdoor meet up on Saturday so I will save up a few cheats as in glasses of wine for that but in the main the foods there will be meat, fish, cheese and salad. And, for once in years I am excited about wearing something nice that fits well. It's been a while xx

nowlook · 22/06/2020 12:55

@Freetodowhatiwant
I too look frankly fantastic in a bikini when standing up and viewed from the front.
Hope your separation is going as well as it can Flowers

Mixitupalot · 22/06/2020 13:16

Well done everyone!

So pleased we are KOKO with the bootcamp, my timeline is 2nd August as that’s my 10th wedding anniversary & DH has planned a date night at our favourite restaurant.

Anyway this week I have 2lbs off so pleased with that as I didn’t think I’d last anything at all. I went out with dd on Saturday and bought some new clothes. I honestly never bought new clothes much because I didn’t feel confident enough to wear them... now I feel ok.

PseudoBadger · 22/06/2020 13:36

So glad for the extension! 1lb today, which I have put on the spreadsheet but hope it's just a blip.

PseudoBadger · 22/06/2020 13:41

Oh and I also lost a couple of inches from various body measurements too so very happy!

PseudoBadger · 22/06/2020 13:42

(Should clarify the above is 1lb ON)
