Final Week of Low Carb Bootcamp ... or is it?!

BIWI · 22/06/2020 06:53

Morning all!

Spreadsheet is here

This was, initially, supposed to be the last week of a 'short, sharp shock' Bootcamp. However, I know that many of us have really got the bit between our teeth and it seems too soon to stop!

The very lovely Guardian of the Spreadsheet @AthelstaneTheUnready already took the precaution of adding a few extra weeks to the spreadsheet, so at the moment we're all set to go up until w/c 20 July.

If, though, you only signed up for 5 weeks and feel like you're being lured into a false promise, obviously you can still have this as your final week Grin

Whatever you decide - welcome to week 5.

Hopefully the doldrums of weeks 3 & 4 will have passed, and the scales will start to move again.

Remember to KOKO - put down all those slices of cake and cheesecake - and stay focused on cutting the carbs. Don't forget to keep your fat intake high, and keep an eye on the things we've introduced in Bootcamp Light.

Good luck Flowers

I’m utterly rubbish at excel so this may be bollocks but what I do to put my number in is click in the box I want to update, then click in the box to the right of where it says fx at the top left, then type the number in there and like some kind of unspeakable magic it updates in the box near my name. Don’t ask me how! Athelstane is the one you need to shout out to. She is the high priestess of such witchcraft.

prettybird · 26/06/2020 23:03

@AthelstaneTheUnready - threeoleary is having difficulty with the spreadsheet.

BIWI · 26/06/2020 23:07

@Threeoleary are you trying to access the Google Sheet on a mobile or tablet? If so, you'll need to download the app first.

(Or wait till the Lovely Guardian of the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, @AthelstaneTheUnready sees this!)

The scales have gone 1/4 ,lb into another stone this morning and I had a glass of wine ( first one since this bootcamp started ) and a little bit of bad sweetcorn in my mexican style veg mix last night.. still not counting anything as the earlier whoosh this week was gone again the next day, but feeling hopeful .. Smile

devoncreamtea · 27/06/2020 09:00

I ended up having way too much wine last night and feel grim this morning. 😬
Annoyed with myself as scales were moving nicely down. Hoping that 2 decent days before Mon might help claw things back.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 27/06/2020 10:29

am luddite just fell out technology tree

except excel. we love each other.

LostaraYil · 27/06/2020 10:50

I had a couple of small gin and slimline tonics yesterday, and because we were sitting around the fire pit I couldn't resist one toasted marshmallow. I'm not weighing till Monday, so I hope it won't show! I didn't have a terrible headache after the gin like I did when I had wine, so I will stick to spirits only in future.
Athelstane, I hope your shoulder improves.

Rshard · 27/06/2020 12:59

How have you managed to hurt your shoulder athlestane?

BIWI · 27/06/2020 13:00

Falling out of a technology tree apparently! Grin

Is sweet corn really bad? I googled babycorn and it said 0 9 carbs with something like 0.4 fiber per babycorn so I've added a couple to salads here and there. ...

prettybird · 27/06/2020 13:40

Iirc, baby sweet corn is ok (I think because you are eating the whole thing, so a lot of it is fibre) but sweet corn kernels are not

BIWI · 27/06/2020 14:09

It's called sweetcorn - a bit of a clue in the name!

(But as @prettybird says, baby sweetcorn is OK)

Makes sense. Mild panic there 😂

We've been out and ended up at McDonalds. The smell was torturous and i was completely unprepared as it wasn't planned so I've drank a diet coke and didnt so much as sniff a chip. Not ideal but an absolute miracle. Cheeseburgers are my first love haha

Hopeislost · 27/06/2020 17:11

Well done @Takingontheworld !

I haven't managed to stick to the plan. Ended up in hospital with an injury and was stuck with hospital food for a full day. The scales now say I have gained 2lbs. Am being super strict now!

Takingontheworld · 27/06/2020 18:02

Hope Oh no!!!! Are you ok?

We went to walk the dog and the heavens absolutely opened and then the kids started raving that they were starving and DH and I realised we'd all skipped lunch by accident Blush bad parenting. Youngest saw the opportunity and begged for a maccers, so we went to pass the time and sure enough the rain had gone by then.

However i actually bitterly regret the diet coke. The physio made me give up diet pepsi months ago as it was really worsening my weak bladder. Boy was she right. We had to cut our walk short and I nearly wet myself!!!!!

Rshard · 27/06/2020 18:06

Ouch athlestane, but BIWI is right - your posts are v funny 😂

Well done takingontheworld, that’s impressive willpower!

An ouch for you too hopeislost, hope that you’re ok?

venusandmars · 27/06/2020 19:06

hopeislost I had a couple of days in hospital earlier thus year. The food was DIRE!!! Sweetened orange juice, sweetened muesli, toast and marmalade for breakfast. Macaroni cheese for lunch followed by pudding . Sandwich and fruit for tea.

Luckily I had my dh bring me in a load of M&S food. I was eating avocado with a mozzarella and tomato salad for breakfast. All the nursing staff said "oh that looks healthy and delicious". Yup.

I know the NHS can't afford avocado's but I honestly think there should be more encouragement to bring your own food.

Had scrambled egg and sausage for lunch today, and tonight is vegetarian Moussaka. It's delicious and there's a portion left for next week sometime.

I've made a slow cooked lamb curry, all ready for tomorrow. Dishes like that taste so much better after being in the fridge overnight. It will be tasty, spicy, melting luxury. With some garlic, fennel seed and carroway seed inspired broccoli and green beans. Oh I wish it was tomorrow already!

prettybird · 27/06/2020 19:33

Dh and ds are having pizza from Sarti's this evening (ds' belated Father's Day present for dh). They've just gone off to get it (May have to detour a bit to avoid the closed roads after yesterday's incident in Glasgow city centre Sad)

I'm going to have an omelette and some left over Greek Salad Shock

Hopeislost · 27/06/2020 19:43

@venusandmars Yep, the food was pretty dire! And the only drink I was given was a tiny cup of orange juice with each meal (which I left!) I asked for water and was given a v small cup. Also not allowed visitors or to walk around due to Coronavirus.

BIWI · 27/06/2020 20:11

I'm really sorry - I can't remember who posted this, but I cooked this recipe tonight

... and it was absolutely gorgeous! Can highly recommend.

It serves 2, and there were three of us, so I served it with two packs of tenderstem broccoli, roasted with a sliced onion in lots of olive oil.

Delicious.
