Final Week of Low Carb Bootcamp ... or is it?!

BIWI · 22/06/2020 06:53

Morning all!

Spreadsheet is here

This was, initially, supposed to be the last week of a 'short, sharp shock' Bootcamp. However, I know that many of us have really got the bit between our teeth and it seems too soon to stop!

The very lovely Guardian of the Spreadsheet @AthelstaneTheUnready already took the precaution of adding a few extra weeks to the spreadsheet, so at the moment we're all set to go up until w/c 20 July.

If, though, you only signed up for 5 weeks and feel like you're being lured into a false promise, obviously you can still have this as your final week Grin

Whatever you decide - welcome to week 5.

Hopefully the doldrums of weeks 3 & 4 will have passed, and the scales will start to move again.

Remember to KOKO - put down all those slices of cake and cheesecake - and stay focused on cutting the carbs. Don't forget to keep your fat intake high, and keep an eye on the things we've introduced in Bootcamp Light.

Good luck Flowers

@Wormthatturned

Well those meals all look fine to me - and I can see from the spreadsheet that you're losing consistently, which is great.

I'm wondering if your Fitbit is recording the carbs accurately?!

However, it does look like you're getting a lot of your carbs from dairy, rather than from veg/salad - and you've not been specific about the amount of fat that you're eating. Do you use an oily dressing on your salad? Are you adding butter to your veg, etc?

ShagMeRiggins I agree on the Article, that is bizarre! (My Yorkshire/Irish family stand with your French one on eating in under 20mins. What would be the point of something so hurried and joyless? Conversation heats meals.)

Morning all
Hope you're feeling brighter, Mrs K Flowers

Currently picking up some nice ideas on the mushrooms thread! Grin

Morning all! I appear to have magically lost 2lbs over night. If this sticks that'll be 1st 1.8lbs.

I broke the stone mark y'all!!! Is the curse over!?

🥳🥳🥳🥳

BlusteryShowers · 25/06/2020 09:29

Well done takingon! Such a nice feeling!

I haven't weighed today following my lapse last night but planning a good day today.

L - large salad with ham and egg
T- Pork Belly with cabbage and asparagus

venusandmars · 25/06/2020 10:07

It's another lovely day here and I think I've broken my creamy coffee habit - in the sunshine a glass of iced water is much better.

L - omelette with left over veg (broccoli, courgette, fennel) and some cheese
D - steak, mushrooms, salad

Laska2Meryls · 25/06/2020 10:50

So hot yesterday and travelling all day so i didnt eat much of my low carb picnic , did drink lots of water though..
Nice little whoosh surprise on scales this morning . But because I was very low in food ill.wait and see after today before claiming it !

Burnshersmurfs · 25/06/2020 11:29

Yup, Shag, it does have bonkers elements- but I'm adopting the weighing-and-logging-my-response bit, as that seemed to be the only bit founded on a genuine study. I think it'll help me stay on track, as, even now, an awareness of how pissed off and moody I am when I'm not eating well is often enough to keep me away from chocolate and booze.

Burnshersmurfs · 25/06/2020 11:49

On a brighter note, looks like today is a whole month back on the wagon for me- and I've lost 8kg (17lbs) and squeezed into my summer shorts although it's not exactly a good look atm

Ifeelfat · 25/06/2020 12:15

smurfs or shagme any chance either of you could post a copy of that Times article somewhere, it’s behind the paywall but I’d quite like to read it if possible.

Freetodowhatiwant · 25/06/2020 12:33

Gosh there are some good losses going on. Well done Burns TakingOn and Laska and others. Sorry to hear of your sadness MrsK the birthdays and anniversaries like that are always emotional.

I have had another weight loss on the scales today - 62.6 so into the next kilo (I was 63 something at the beginning of the week). Just hope I can keep it up and it wasn't a blip. I ate really well yesterday - did the celeriac mash which is lovely and comforting and filling - and upped my eggs at lunch. I have my night away with my best friend. who I haven't seen since lockdown and having been through quite a stressful time there will be tears and there will be wine. Hopefully I can at least stick to the WOE even though there might be a bit of wine.

I had two strawberries last night. My first fruit since BC Light.

I am definitely feeling slimmer and almost down to nine and a half stone which would be a great achievement.

I am glad you have been pulling apart the Times article. I wanted to read it but then couldn't due to the paywall so now it seems it's not got any sage advice for us!

BIWI · 25/06/2020 13:24

I'd love to read that article too, if anyone could post it?

Thanks for all the lovely wishes. I’m fine, just sad and missing him really. For his birthday last year we went to the Manga exhibition at the British Museum and we had a really nice lunch. He seemed so positive and determined to beat it. He was responding well to treatment and got married in August. Then in November it all went to shit. There are lots of ‘self inflicted’ judgements from people which makes grieving harder. No one wants to think it could be them.

Sorry, I’m getting rambly and tearful now. I’ll shut up! Grin

Just had omelette and salad for lunch and planning tofu with a coconut spicy broth and courgette noodles for dinner. I’m starting to feel a bit meated/cheesed out and am craving less rich food. It’s probably the heat - it should be 33 here this avo - Lovely.

Almahart · 25/06/2020 14:33

I'm sorry @Mrskoala

So so hot. Koko here. 4ibs down 9 days into boot camp.

I've noticed a sort of soft layer of fat around my hips that didn't used to be there. I can only assume it's to do with my age - am peri menopausal.

Not crazy about it tbh

Freetodowhatiwant · 25/06/2020 14:41

The soft fat @Almahart someone on here mentioned their fat seemed to go a bit more squishy when it was on its way out. No idea If there any science in it but I could kinda relate! If anyone has any more info on this or it’s just anecdotal do shout!

MrsKoala · 25/06/2020 14:47

Almahart - I now have lumps of fat on my hips at the back. I put my hands back with elbows at right angles and grab a handful in each hand - if that terrible description makes any sense? I hate them. I can look slim and shapely from the front but have this kid of square jutting out shape round my hips. When I get my boobs fixed I’m going to ask them about fat freezing. No matter how much weight I lose it never goes. In fact the more weight I lose the more prominent it looks. Sticking out. Being ugly and annoying in tight dresses and trousers. I try not to look at myself from the back anymore.

LostaraYil · 25/06/2020 14:55

Flowers Mrs Koala.
The sunshine and heat have left me feeling too floppy to do anything. Tried mowing the lawn but the mower ran out of petrol so I gave up and am just sunbathing and drinking lots of water.
I too have excesses of hip fat, and I feel like my skin no longer makes any effort to hold it up so my butt and hips are looking habit saggy and sad. I'm hoping they will improve with exercise and more weight loss, but can anyone recommend a good firming cream?

Almahart · 25/06/2020 14:57

Oh dear. So it sounds like this is to do with age

Freetodowhatiwant · 25/06/2020 15:14

I have a roll of fat on my middle back that only goes when I’ve been at my skinniest size 8 when people tell me ‘you’re too thin’. Even then I think it’s still there a bit. I too have thought about fat freezing or Aqualix injections but I’m also afraid of any bad repercussions or side effects. Oh and it’s expensive. There’s a lady not so far away from me who’s doing aqualix for £200 as she’s relatively new to it but you kinda also want someone experienced! My hairdresser had it done with her though on the stomach .

I can't link to the slightly crap in places article, unfortunately, as friend sent it on a doc, and it's probably not legit to publish here. The above is the study on which the article is based. The findings aren't suggesting that daily weighing is an unequivocal success for all, but have some interesting things to say in the discussion.

Rshard · 25/06/2020 16:46

Sorry to hear About your friend mrskoala, you’ve done so well to stay on track.

Woo boo for the losses!

venusandmars · 25/06/2020 18:54

So in the lovely sunny weather I walked to the supermarket, rucksack on back, shopping list in pocket. Got in, gathered items, went to checkout. Bloody hell, no money, no cards! Walked home with empty rucksack. Dh has gone off in the car and I can't be arsed to walk again in this heat. Dinner is left over omlette with salad. Followed by rhubarb and raspberry fool with cream and yogurt.

Final Week of Low Carb Bootcamp ... or is it?!
venusandmars · 25/06/2020 18:55

Steak will have to wait till tomorrow

Randomfatty · 25/06/2020 20:39

Hi everyone - melting here it’s so hot! Can’t wait for the thunder storms that are due tonight! 🥵🥵

Lunch - Chorizo, mushroom and basil omelette with a salad
Dinner - slow cooked lamb curry with green veg - broccoli, beans and asparagus- although I managed to put too lots of chilli in the curry! So it was very very hot! 🌶🌶🌶

Passed my exam yesterday with 80% so we’ll chuffed but too hot for any exercise today - so have been lolling around - just want to go for a swim 🏊🏼‍♀️🏊🏼‍♀️ May have to get a paddling pool for myself 😀

Hope you’ve all had a good day!
