Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet

So we've got through the pesky weeks 3 and 4. Hopefully, if things have slowed or stopped for you, things will get going once more. Don't expect big losses each week though - losses will be around 1-2, possibly 3lbs each week (depending on how much you have to lose). But rest assured that each of those pounds will be fat.

And this is what a pound of fat looks like!

Hope you all have a good week Flowers

I've stopped the butter coffee because I think it might be upsetting my digestion (the coffee, that is). Pity because it was an easy way to eat a lot of fat. So today I make butter chicken soup. Same principle - homemade chicken stock blitzed with butter (and half an avocado). Added in some chopped chicken. OMG! It was like the creamiest chicken soup ever - reminded me of Cambell's condensed soup from my childhood.

I've got more stock too, so I'll do it again tomorrow with left over cooked veg.

L - cream of chicken and avocado soup
D - salmon, buttered leeks with crispy pancetta, roast tomato, stir-fried kale

KondoKonvert · 15/11/2019 17:25

That soup sounds amazing @venusandmars

Food so far:

Breakfast: big breakfast of bacon, eggs, avocado, fried mushrooms and cauliflower.

Late lunch/snack: Camembert with a couple of slices of salami

Dinner: tbd...DH has just announced he might have to work late so can't quite tell exactly how late he'll be. Toss up between something from the fridge or a chicken kebab takeaway without the pitta.

Twit · 15/11/2019 17:53

@venusandmars I use decaf coffee, would that be ok for your stomach?

Another good day, although I've had the raging munchies and really craved those carby fuckers. I got through it alright, but aaargh. I could do with never having those cravings.
Weight wise I've stayed the same...which is really really good news. I'm going to weigh myself daily again to see when (hopefully if) I bloat again so that I can be prepared next time.

Nonononon · 15/11/2019 18:05

Hi everyone, sorry been super busy with work, had inspections these past two days so been run off our feet!
On the plus, all my colleagues said that they can see I've lost weight (I can totally tell too but it's nice when other people notice Smile) and I had to buy a size 12 pair of skinny jeans as my size 14s now just look like baggy slim lines which I don't like Grin

Food today.
L: 3 hm pork and courgette meat balls, salad and lump of smoked cheddar. Cream coffee.
D: bag of mixed salad leaves, 3 LC sausages and half a pack of boursin Blush

venusandmars · 15/11/2019 18:38

@twit yes decaf might be OK, but it's a bit like de-alcoholised wine, a lot of extra processing to lose the bit that you wanted in the first place Grin And the butter soup was so good that I've been looking through all the soups in my freezer to see which ones would benefit...

Doilooklikeatourist · 15/11/2019 19:15

Challenging day
Marzipanned the Christmas cakes ..
A teeny sample might have been tested ( bloody lovely ❤️)

Doilooklikeatourist · 15/11/2019 19:17

Your version Sounds delicious

SittingontheSidelines · 15/11/2019 19:24

I'll be trying thatv@venusandmars

ShagMeRiggins · 15/11/2019 20:20

A big welcome to moleeye and glad you joined us. Amazing losses in first two weeks! Do keep posting, even if it’s just to record your own food—I’ve found that helps a lot of people!

OMG it’s gorgeous!

ketomeato I’m always amused by how delighted we are with the food we are allowed on this way of eating. Between your ice cream and venusandmars’ soup, it’s OMGtastic right now.

Ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs and loads of mayo for lunch—had to be quick as no veg in that didn’t need to be cooked and I was working.

Tonight is a donner was meant to be steak and FLGV but husband is back for the weekend and didn’t tell me he needed the car to shop, I thought he’d take his motorbike as all I asked for was steak and tuna for fuck’s sake. Anyway, I’ll eat my lettuce tomato and onion and pretend I’ve had my vegetables today. Hmm

venusandmars · 15/11/2019 21:00

ShagMe ultimately it is about a balanced diet. That is balanced over a longer period than a day, a meal, an hour, an mouthful.

I once read that the most nutritionally balanced foodstuff was parsley. But you can't eat parsley for every meal so you have to balance the nutrients out over a longer time period.

Anyway, if today had no veg, don't stress. But if your week had no veg...

moleeye · 15/11/2019 21:08

Thank you @Rayna37 @SittingontheSidelines and. @ShagMeRiggins

Have had 6 squares of 70% cocoa tonight 🙈. The baby was asleep and the OH had taken the eldest to her swimming lesson.

But I've done 4.5 litres of water. Hoping that helps cancel it out!!

It's hard with all the croissants, bread, sweets, cake etc in the house for the kids. Am sure there'll be slip ups along the way

Will be back tomorrow to post.

The recipes sound YUM!

absopugginglutely · 15/11/2019 22:15

Hi all just checking in.
I’m liking the 16:8 fasting though it’s hard not having my creamy coffee in the morning!

L: Tuna mayo and green salad
D: Roast dinner with Flgv
3x litres of water

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 16/11/2019 08:23

Accidentally glutened myself yesterday with black pudding (didn't think to read the label. Idiot.) and so have spent a lot of the night with UDC and dreamt I was giving birth!

Planned food today:
B: coffee with cream, bacon and tomatoes
L: smoked mackerel fillet and salad
D: LC bolognese sauce with butter fried courgetti.

Water, water, water!

venusandmars · 16/11/2019 08:59

Got an event mid-day so it'll be early lunch and dinner.

L - butter cauliflower and spinach soup
D - sausage and kidney casserole with stir fry Kale, mushrooms fried in butter and some spinach

prettybird · 16/11/2019 09:33

I've been up a pound all week - despite keeping to The Rules (although I had a few nuts) Confused. Am hoping that a really strict weekend and bucketloads of water will move the scales downwards. Halo

To be fair, it was the same last week and I still managed to lose 1.5lb by the Monday. Smile

Nonononon · 16/11/2019 14:36

I had a big lunch, was starving after getting only a few hours sleep last night (due to work, not actually being unable to sleep) so I had: bag of mixed salad leaves, half an avocado, 3 sausages and half a pack of boursin..
Still feeling slightly hungry so just had two pieces of pork scratching.
D: will be another salad with either tuna mayo or bacon and avocado.

Doilooklikeatourist · 16/11/2019 16:46

Had scrambled eggs with butter for breakfast ,

Then inspired by @venusandmars I made a lovely soup by frying some leeks and mushrooms with butter , some garlic and cumin , sea salt and black pepper , adding chicken stock ( from a cube ) then whizzing in half an avocado and some double cream
Will make it again

Out for dinner tonight with some old friends , we have a terrible habit of talking too much and drinking a bit too much wine ...

rosesandsunflowers · 16/11/2019 17:31

I was naughty last night and had one two many glasses of wine with a friend! Today I've felt rubbish so won't be doing that again soon.
B: 2 eggs fried in butter on top of baby spinach
L: a very poor English fry up - substituted bread and hash brown for smashed Avo.
D: we want to have an Indian takeaway - please can anyone recommend what sort of things we can order? I think we need to avoid our normal dishes as I fear they will be too carb heavy. I may make some cauliflower rice to go with it.

BIWI · 16/11/2019 18:05

Week 6 chat thread is here

Have posted it early as I'm away now until around lunchtime tomorrow

OP posts:
venusandmars · 16/11/2019 21:01

rosesandsunflowers one of the things about this way of eating is that alcohol gets processed faster and has a bigger impact - your body uses alcohol before fats as an easy source of 'fuel' plus there are few carbs to absorb it.

BIWI we can tell you're retired now because this is only Saturday and you don't need the new thread till Monday Grin

rosesandsunflowers · 16/11/2019 21:32

@venus thanks for the info. Completely makes sense. I've felt shocking all day - been drinking lots of water to compensate.

DownUdderer · 17/11/2019 00:39

I’m down 5 pounds for November. I’ve been good this week for the most part. I haven’t planned ahead for today so I’ll do the best I can. Good work everyone.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 17/11/2019 08:53

Yesterday was odd, in the end. Had pate for breakfast, a planned cheat of a slice of birthday cake, then bolognese and courgetti for tea.

It was odd in that previously, a slice of cake would have been licence to eat the entire house. This time, I had my small slice and walked away. It was a pleasant sensation, I will always enjoy cake, but I didn't need anything else / more. And I won't be having anything similar now until DD's birthday in the first week of December, and I might be able to quietly swerve that. I am prepared to pay the price of being slightly windy for a day or so, but I am so over grains generally. It's amazing.

First Christmas / birthday shopping with DH today, so a quick breakfast of pate and cucumber slices. Lunch may not be necessary, tea will be roast beef and buttery veg, with yorkies and roasties for everyone else!

The scales may not be be moving, but my knickers are all falling down and my trousers are too big!

ShagMeRiggins · 17/11/2019 15:40

but I am so over grains

This made me laugh, GreenWillows—it reminded me of something one of the girls in Clueless might have said.

I’m here, I’m on plan, just working loads and being energised by that. KOKO & WATER! WATER! WATER!

absopugginglutely · 17/11/2019 15:58

@IWillWearTheGreenWillow brilliant! I know what you mean about how good it feels to be in control with sugar, so liberating!
Amazing how pervasive sugar addiction is in our lives!

My dad’s been visiting here this weekend and I feel like I haven’t stopped cooking all weekend but completely managed to stay on plan despite buying in all his sugary/ carby favourites and visiting loads of coffee shops that sell cakes and which were away free mulled wine!
He loved my creamed spinach and mushroom side dish too!

Today:

B: scrambled egg and smoked salmon

Snack: baby bell, celery stick, spoon of almond butter.

Dinner will be meat balls and flgv.

I got a really good Celeriac soup recipe from my dad too so I’m looking forward to making that if (I can ever find celeriac anywhere!)
