Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet

So we've got through the pesky weeks 3 and 4. Hopefully, if things have slowed or stopped for you, things will get going once more. Don't expect big losses each week though - losses will be around 1-2, possibly 3lbs each week (depending on how much you have to lose). But rest assured that each of those pounds will be fat.

And this is what a pound of fat looks like!

Hope you all have a good week Flowers

I'm headed for a rocky weekend!

Friday should be fine and on plan! Then Saturday is DD's 6th birthday so we're taking her bowling and off to a pizza restaurant. Thankfully there are a few low carb options eg Caesar salad without croutons or a buttery fish without the potatoes. Then Sunday is my birthday and we're going to Tom Kitchin's pub in East Lothian. I haven't seen the menu but will do my best!

Doilooklikeatourist · 14/11/2019 19:54

Doing well today
Brunch Mushroom and cheese omelette
D chicken breast with tomato Passata , double cream sauce , portobello mushroom and roast cauliflower

Out for dinner and drinks with friends on Saturday , but I’ve looked at the menu , and think I can be ok ish

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/11/2019 20:29

Just had a delicious dinner. Cooked some smoked salmon and asparagus in butter, then stirred some courgetti through it. Added in a glug of cream, squeeze of lemon and some salt and pepper, and served. Sooooooo good. Smile

SittingontheSidelines · 14/11/2019 21:16

That does sound good @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal Sadly smoked salmon is something I can't bring myself to like. I really feel I'm missing out.

Lunch was leftover stew and veg. Dinner was see below

Week 5 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Coming to the end of the first half
venusandmars · 14/11/2019 21:25

@kondokonvert I was invited to the Bonnie Badger for afternoon tea (eek!) fortunately the person who invited me is also low carb so had arranged that everyone else would have cakes, scones etc, and that would have cheese and nuts. It took them a while to get it, but the more we all explain, the more options will be offered as standard.

tbh when I ate at BB earlier this year I thought it was very expensive and not particularly exciting. But then it was one of those days when my menu choices weren't that great and my dh's food was much, much better. Hope you have a wonderful birthday. Do you live in East Lothian?

absopugginglutely · 14/11/2019 21:28

Hi all,
Long day at school and parents evening until 8pm.
B: 1 litre water black coffee
L: Beef bolegnese, green salad 3 cherry tomatoes 1 sausage.
D: green salad, smoke tofu, avocado and salami
2x cream coffee
Soo much water to catch up on now 😬

KondoKonvert · 14/11/2019 22:27

Thanks @venusandmars! We're going for lunch (with 3 small children) so my expectations of lunch are fairly low 😂. Hoping for a walk on Gullane beach if it stays dry!

I'm just over the border in Midlothian but in a village on the East Lothian side IYSWIM...nearer Musselburgh than Penicuik! Are you fae these parts?

venusandmars · 14/11/2019 22:53

@KondoKonvert have sent a pm

venusandmars · 14/11/2019 22:57

I notice there are a lots of Scots on here - an antidote to generations of porridge and potatoes?

DownUdderer · 15/11/2019 03:17

I’ve had a lovely long hike today. I’m hoping my weight will be down tomorrow.

PCOSCanPissOFF · 15/11/2019 06:59

UUUUUURGH it appears I’ve hit the dreaded week 3 stall Sad

I also haven’t pooped (tmi) in 3 days and I normally go a few times a day ConfusedBlush

Please tell me constipation is normal and I just need to drink more?

B: creamy coffee
L: chicken, cauliflower and coconut cream curry
D: belly pork and mustard cream sauce, broccoli and asparagus

SittingontheSidelines · 15/11/2019 09:02

@PCOSCanPissOFF lots of water, lots of fat and a FLGV should deal with the constipation. However I find I don't poop as frequently or do such big poops (sorry) on this WOE. My poops are much pleasanter (sorry again) than high carb ones though.

Exitstrategist · 15/11/2019 09:44

Yes- I don’t think I’m constipated but definitely down to only every second day since starting a few weeks ago!

prettybird · 15/11/2019 10:10

A friend has just posted this on FB and it looks lovely - definitely going to be trying it myself Smile

https://smittenkitchen.com/2019/11/roasted-cabbage-with-walnuts-and-parmesan/

If it's good, I'll put it onto the veggie thread.

LittleSwede · 15/11/2019 11:22

Argh, having rubbish day meaning can't find motivation to cook proper food, can't even muster an omelette. Got a meeting with DD's teacher and Senco this afternoon re support, or rather the lack of it, and the impact on DD's anxiety levels. Spent last three days typing up notes and getting organised.

Dug out a low-carb bread which isn't really boot camp as it's not 'real' food, but it is at least only 3,7 grams of carb a slice so topped with a thick layer of butter and cheese the macros come in ok. Not ideal in terms of nutrition though. Am boiling an egg to go with. DH has bought cold meats, cheese and olives for later so don't have t think about dinner. Am aware I haven't had any vegetables or greens thought! Maybe I'll have a salad to go with the cold meats later.

So:
B carbzone bread with butter and cheese
L carbzone bread with butter and cheese plus boiled egg
D cold meats, cheese and salad

Probably dry white wine later too Blush

moleeye · 15/11/2019 11:59

Hello ladies, I found this thread when you were 3 weeks in so didn't have the confidence to join but I've been reading and following with interest.

I started 2 weeks ago and lost 11lb week 1 and 2lb this week. Friday is weigh day for me. Feeling very motivated and am at 199lb which sounds a lot better than 14 stone 3lb!!

I'm doing intermittent fasting as well which is really working for me.

Can't see much any difference yet. I turn 40 in Jan and go back to work at the end of March (currently on mat) so I am motivated to get back into all my smart clothes as cannot afford a new wardrobe!!!

The OH is doing it with me and he's 10.5lb down too 😂

If it's ok I'll check in with you lovely lot again

L - courgetti, chicken breast fried in butter, crumbled feta, oregano and mint
3 litres of water so far, 2 black coffees
D- will be rump steak, Brussels with pancetta, leek dauphinois and crispy kale

Ketomeato · 15/11/2019 13:17

I am making keto-ice cream and early reports say it’s looking promising! It’s basically egg yolk, cream, milk and sweetener and a dash of vanilla flavour.

Apparently it’s about 2g carbs per 100g and I’d guess that comes from the filler in the sweetener.

Ketomeato · 15/11/2019 13:46

OMG it’s gorgeous!

SittingontheSidelines · 15/11/2019 14:05

@prettybird we had cabbage roasted in butter Last night, no extras. It was delicious. Will try it with the Parmesan etc next time.

SittingontheSidelines · 15/11/2019 14:34

Hi @moleeye you'll get a warm welcome here. Well done with your losses so far.

Rayna37 · 15/11/2019 14:44

Just popping on to log food and wave hello to moleeye as I'm 40 in Jan too! I started bootcamping while on mat leave last Jan, also finding the thread a few weeks in then launching in after a bit of reading, learning and lurking! Had been low carbing for longer but found BIWIs rules extremely helpful and effective.

Hectic day yesterday: scrambled egg breakfast, egg & cheese mayo on salad plus yogurt for lunch, snack of nuts and mostly hm but pre-frozen curry dinner (few chicken tikka pieces, tomato aubergine curry, IPD onion bhaji and cauli rice). Half a pint of beer at the theatre (couldn't face wine in a plastic glass and had had a mad vomity-toddler filled evening before escaping out).

Today
B: epic 3 egg mushroom and leek cheese-crusted omelette
L: no packed lunch so chicken pieces from the hot counter at Sainsbury's and total yogurt
D: will be courgetti bolognese and some red wine.

PCOSCanPissOFF · 15/11/2019 15:08

What FGLV?

venusandmars · 15/11/2019 15:19

Fuck load of green vegetables Grin
