Morning!

Here's what you have all been waiting for!

I love this week, because there are always some fabulous results - and those who really didn't believe it was going to work are always amazed!

OP posts:
Rayna37 · 21/10/2019 11:08

VeryLittleOwl I'm increasingly beginning to doubt carb counts too. I've always tried to use swede and celeriac in moderation as while better than potato, to me it's obviously got to be a good bit higher than greens etc. I don't think I'll ever understand how shallots are so much better than onions though all sources are in agreement on that.
Also on packaging though. A couple of recent examples are the Meridian Almond butter is I think 2.6g carbs which is crazy for something made from 100% almonds - my normal Aldi version is 6.5(ish)g but has been out of stock for a couple of weeks. Also I glanced at some tubs of sandwich filler in a Spar recently and it had an egg mayo that was apparently 29g (how?!) yet a tuna mayo sweetcorn one that was about 2.6g - impossible!

6lb loss for me and I started last Tuesday. Very pleased with that. Blood sugar is back down and stable. I also just noted that I am now just 'overweight' on the NHS BMI thing. So that's good. I'm also usually a large now where I started this in January at a xxl size 22. Now I am a comfortable 18 and looking forward to being a 16 which I haven;'t been since I was about 19 and I started putting weight on!

Well done everyone. Keep going. It really does work and try not to get into the rut of eating the same things everyday. xxx

Cauliflowerpower · 21/10/2019 11:51

Well done everyone. I've lost 11 lbs this week so very happy with that. I said 10 on the other thread but obvs cant count. Very happy with that as had a cocktail and a couple of wines on "date" night!!!

I LOVE soft play. I'm sat in one now happily looking at my phone for 5 mins. This one has a twin discount too so only have to pay for one win win win. Food is terrible for this WOE though so we'll have lunch at home.

B - cream cheese pancake and bacon
L - didn't eat much breakfast so possibly that with extra salad
D - Peri peri chicken and salad or veg

Food prep later. Might make a soup for lunches. I'm feeling chilly so need something to warm me up!

Have a good day people 😁

@Rayna37 I am the queen of bargains, always buy yellow stickered meat and freeze. Try and shop at times things will be reduced, never really buy junk anyway.
Funny you mentioned the beans and pasta you ate in your 20's, because me and DP are early 20's Grin. I'm sure there are cheap ways to do this way of eating, but there's only so many eggs one can eat!

prettybird · 21/10/2019 11:53

I'm well chuffed: 2.25lb down to 12 stone 4 & 3/4lb. Grin That's on top of the c.3lb I'd lost the week before Boot Camp when I did an egg fast Smile but also had also had wine at the weekendBlush

So only 5lb to go to get to my Christmas 2017 weight Smile (when I'd managed to lose 3st over the May and October Boot Camps in 2017) and 1st 2lb to go to where I got to by Christmas 2018. Blush

I'm starting to feel more hopeful that I might make it Halo

dripdrops · 21/10/2019 11:57

Congrats on all the losses!

Had a busy Sunday out in London with friends, but stuck on track. Went to honest burger so just skipped the bun and had salad instead of fries. I do find eating out low carb so much easier than if trying to go low fat or something like that.

Going to roast a pork shoulder and have with cavolo Nero and cauli/broc cheese for dinner. Now it's getting colder and darker I'm starting to fancy winter comfort food, especially at lunchtimes. Need to start cooking up some big batches that I can microwave at work.

Cauliflowerpower · 21/10/2019 12:01

Oh and @Ryana I find that odd that others find that odd!!! I love a yellow sticker bargain and I have a heaving chest freezer.... with that and my cupboards I think we'd come through a zombie apocalypse 🤣😂😳

lurknolinger · 21/10/2019 12:08

I lost 4lbs last week, which I'm chuffed to bits with. This was week 4 for me as I started bc as soon as I got back from holiday.
I've now lost 13.2lbs in 4 weeks, I know a lot of that will have been water weight, but still it's nice that it's gone. I hope that this will give others some encouragement to stick with this WOE as the results can be amazing.
Lots of lovely recipe ideas being shared, the cheese crusted omelette and stroganoff meatball meal are on my list this week, so thanks to whoever posted those.

venusandmars · 21/10/2019 12:19

@VeryLittleOwl re carb counts, also we learn over time how our own bodies react to different foodstuffs. I can tolerate a small amount of beetroot, which is well into the red zone, but celeriac dauphinoise makes me put on weight, and throws me out of ketosis. I think it's how my metabolism reacts to that particular combination of vegetable carb and cream and cheese. It's a bit the same with swede chips. Maybe my unconscious body hears the words 'chips' or 'dauphinoise' and just makes itself fatter Grin

I still have them as a better alternative to potato, but I try to watch the portion size although I didn't last night as I ate a glorious mountain of chilli and cumin spiced turnip chips

Food today:
B - avocado, butter coffee
L - spinach (and left over vegetable) soup
D - courgetti Bolognese

@glenthebattleostrich that sounds like a good plan for the week, thinking ahead, eating beforehand and taking safe snacks is the way to do it. Watch out for the non-alcoholic drinks, mocktails are often stuffed full of sugar so know in advance what you will order (soda and fresh lime, a nice cup of tea, a herbal infusion....)

@stuntnun, yeah I have an ancient solid bag of sugar. My friend calls it 'Diana's sugar' as she is the only person who eve has it.

In other news, someone has spray painted graffiti on the side wall of my house Angry Angry Angry It has various anti-royalist statements, sectarian stuff and 'Boris Johnson is a fanny'. Might be true but I don't want it painted in red on the side of my house! It's been a morning of dealing with police, council anti-social behaviour squad and insurance company to try and get it removed. My normal calm demeanour has vanished.

prettybird · 21/10/2019 12:26

Had a roast rolled should of pork last night (£2.92, reduced, for a 1.5kg joint Smile). The crackling was lovely - I'd bashed some fennel seeds with some sea salt in the pestle & mortar and then rubbed it into the day before roasting. Served it with roasted vegetables ( giant courgette and some carrots from the garden, plus neeps, leeks and shallots, with some rosemary and a generous slug of olive oil), buttered runner beans (also from the garden) and roast potatoes for dh, db and my dad )

Ducking the Big Stick Blush I also made creme brûlée, using Tom Kerridge's Dopamine Diet recipe: ingredients cream, eggs, erythritol and inulin for the brûlée topping.

The menfolk all had wine while I nursed my oh-so-tasty glass of water Grin

venusandmars · 21/10/2019 12:28

@nonononon imo I don't think that the 3 day bone-broth diet is very 'boot-camp'

I understand the principle but where are FLGV ? Use the broth as a base but why not add cauliflower or broccoli or spinach or mushroom... or a bit of tomato some green peppers garlic and herbs and make gazpacho?

Wibblytummy · 21/10/2019 12:45

Definitely going to go and hunt the recipe boards for some comfort lunch recipes. I've got a tuna salad (tuna, eggs, mayo, baby leaf salad and cucumber) for lunch but craving something warm. I do love soup but I always miss having the bread to dip in.

Rshard · 21/10/2019 12:48

Oh venus, what a nightmare - hope it gets sorted very soon.

nononono, I thought similar as venus when I read about your bone broth, making into a ramen type thing

Twit · 21/10/2019 12:53

Hi all, some amazing losses, congratulations!
I've lost just over 4lb, which as I'm now on my period makes me very surprised (I also want to stuff myself in the week before)
Yesterday I had roast chicken and buttery broccoli and cauliflower both for dinner and tea, and 3 litres of water, so I'm happy with that.
Today...
B: egg
D: omlette with shallot/mushroom & courgette fried in butter and with a little sift cheese on top.
T. Pork belly and spinach

Lots of cheese today, but no snacking on it, unfortunately I'm one of those who need to watch their dairy. 😭 I'm off to aldi tomorrow, so will soon have a bit more variation 🎉😊

AthelstaneTheUnready · 21/10/2019 13:08

Nonononon, properly made stock is cracking for you, no doubt. But I wouldn't do it in week 2.

Reasons: the first two weeks are strict because you need to ensure your body is absolutely crystal clear that it is burning fat, not glucose, for energy. That involves some rearrangement of internal chemistry - for some people that physical changeover is speedy, just a week or so, for others it can take up to a month.

Let your body change, and settle into the change, before messing it about with something new. I'd leave the 3-day stock thing until you've done at least 4 weeks of low carb.

Nonononon · 21/10/2019 13:11

Ah ok thought as much!
Just sounded so tempting but then I remembered pork roast for dinner and the fact I'm allowed to eat crackling..

I think what I'll do with it is just have a cup before bed, I have my last meal of the day around 5ish so my stomach will be pretty empty by then and it'll be a nice warmer.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 21/10/2019 13:11

That sounds really bossy, sorry Blush, but I stand by it. Your body's doing quite a lot of work behind the scenes, and you don't want to distract it just yet.

My 2lb loss has stayed off I think (was a bit bleary and confused this morning, but it looked about right on the scales). Had lost an inch off my boobs, but that's back on again today, although lost 1/2" off my waist.

My face is finally beginning to look less like cousin to a red balloon, although I'm putting that down to no alcohol! Jawline is definitely looking sharper.

Nonononon · 21/10/2019 13:15

Ah ok I'll maybe do it towards the end of BC then. It sounds almost medicinal so I git all excited feeling like a witch brewing a potion but you're right it's still early doors so I'll give everything a chance to settle in first Smile

Nonononon · 21/10/2019 13:17

Yeah I've noticed that about my jawline too! Must be from the lack of carb bloat.

JFDI2019 · 21/10/2019 13:56

Wow, 7lbs down for me which I am delighted with.

Well done to all, great to see the losses and NSV's like reduced jowliness! Grin

ChocolatePiglet · 21/10/2019 14:05

2lbs off for me, which I'm very happy with.
I've stuck to plan, but I know I haven't been drinking anywhere near enough water...Need to up my game this week!

Nonononon · 21/10/2019 14:07

Well done everyone on these amazing losses!!

prettybird · 21/10/2019 14:16

I'm not measuring myself till I get back to 11st 13lb as that was what I was when I last measured myself well over a year ago Blush

But my jeans (bought when I'd got to 11st 13lb Wink), which had been getting noticeably tighter fortunately they'd stretched Wink, have been getting noticeably looser again Grin

stayathomegardener · 21/10/2019 14:25

2lb loss here. Stomach has definitely deflated.

This week is my water focus week.

Last week I really wasn't around a loo a lot of the time.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/10/2019 14:26

I'm a lb down. It doesn't sound much but ..... I haven't got an awful lot to lose Blush

Well done to everyone who's made progress this week. KOKO Smile
