Morning!

Here's what you have all been waiting for!

I love this week, because there are always some fabulous results - and those who really didn't believe it was going to work are always amazed!

OP posts:

Oh no hold up..... I just used an app to change my hair colour and it looks fucking awful grey Sad I had this image of sleek shiney grey hair (the type that 20 year olds have dyed) the reality was very different.. Grin
Well that excitement was short lived!

I could always dye it a funky colour though.. I've always been against dying my hair because the natural colour was always lovely and I didn't want to ruin it (sorry for the brag) but now if I have to dye it I might as well make the most of it.

Cauliflowerpower · 22/10/2019 16:38

@MrsTerryPratchett! LOL that made me chortle!

@stabmereapers - Yes That is a better way of looking at it. Positives and all that. It just made me feel a bit icky! Anyhoo its all a lesson isnt it?!?!?!

@Nonononon - LOL I was pretty delighted recently to note that my grey hairs are coming in Pure WHITE! Like my Granny. She had beautiful hair....

@BIWitch (getting the hang of the halloween names!) I was reading about the carrot and the stick a few days ago, I though Hmmmm what about a carrot stick... #fail!

prettybird · 22/10/2019 16:44

I get blonde highlights and copper tones put through my hair - sort of like my natural colour (a sort of dark strawberry blonde) but better (which means I can get away with only doing it twice a year or less Wink). The highlights serve to disguise the increasing number of grey hairs Grin

I'm lucky that even post menopause I have masses of hair - very fine but lots of it Grin

Rshard · 22/10/2019 16:53

Naturally dark so at 45 I lots of greys which I do dye, but my hair is also really curly which hides the greys pretty well but then - wham full on badger stripe! My dd has a silver chunk of hair at the nape of her neck, looks quite cool

Rshard · 22/10/2019 16:53

A missing ‘have’ in there !

prettybird · 22/10/2019 17:00

I would have a grey streak at my left temple: it looked striking on my mum and grandmother, who both had dark hair, but in my lighter hair, is better disguised by highlights Wink

I'm with you nonono. No way am I going to the expense and time commitment of dyeing my hair. Bring on the grey! Ita partly political for me: I teach teenage girls and want them to see that it's ok to reveal your true hair and face to the outside world!

Day 2 nearly done. Feeling better already. Still have terrible restless legs though. Last time I did bootcamp it went away after a few days so here's hoping...

Notwatchingtvtoday · 22/10/2019 17:44

Hi I'm joining in a little late as I was away last week. I did the May boot camp and have managed to keep the weight I lost off, although a couple of pounds crept on last week. Im aiming for half a stone off before Christmas.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 22/10/2019 17:46

Rayna37 That sounds better that my unimaginative effort, and I think I have all those as well, so am off to give it a go right now - thank you!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/10/2019 18:42

47 here, and just noticed grey hairs coming through this year. Only they're bright white. Shouldn't be that surprised as I started life with white hair, which only started fading to darker blonde in my late teens.

Not planning to do anything about it, even if it turns out to look... less than optimal. I've never been all that to look at, and while I didn't mind dying my hair unnatural pinks, pillar box reds, etc when I was younger, I'm mentally really uncomfortable with dying it (or indeed, wearing makeup) in an attempt to look 'normal', or 'better'.

Think it's a mix of feeling like cheating people into thinking I'm something I'm not, and defiance about the fact society expects you to try. Maybe.

Anyhooo... food.

B: coffee with cream
L: avocado and bucket of yoghurt
D: brisket with the veg it cooked in, and broccoli with butter

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/10/2019 18:43

Restless legs = start taking magnesium tablets.

Works for me - once just before bedtime and massively helps.

PrimaDonna123 · 22/10/2019 18:48

Back from my lovely pamper afternoon, with a new set of v glam lashes for no other reason than I fancied cheering myself up. And it worked - now look like 🕷🕷 Grin

I am naturally blonde so even though I’m nearing mid 40s I don’t have any noticeable greys, just go a little bit lighter with every passing year.

Nonononon · 22/10/2019 18:54

Yeah I'm in the camp of, really can't be arsed having to dye it every 6 weeks.. atm it's still very bowl and it's only the first greys showing through (they're very silver!) So I'll see how I get along with it because they grey I just did on the app looked awful but idk if it'll even go low that! It's exciting exciting my body change before my eyes in such a way! I'm trying to get used to the thought (fact) of ageing as I really don't want to be hating how I look in a few years time (for the rest of my life).
Anyway, sorry for the little derail!

Food!
Had another bowl of the broth with oorj and veg (lots and lots of green in there)
Feeling lovely, was almost medicinal and I even got dd to have a cup of broth! (She said it was her pretend coffee Grin )

Nonononon · 22/10/2019 18:54

Still very *brown!! 🤣

MrsGarethSouthgate · 22/10/2019 18:54

Rayna37 That was amazing!! Fajita in a bowl is now one of my new favourite meals, the spice mix was lovely.

Am very full now, with some delicious leftovers for tomorrow Smile

stayathomegardener · 22/10/2019 18:54

Your posts make me smile @Nonononon ; you are very enthusiastic Smile

I henna my greys, trying to cover up the regrowth of a permanent dye from four years ago. Looks pretty good, super cheap but messy (and looks very carby)

KondoKonvert · 22/10/2019 18:55

Hello all!

I went to a friend's house for lunch today and I hadn't mentioned to her I was doing this WOE so was a bit concerned I was going to go way off plan. She gave me vegetable soup, a range of cheese and a plate of salami. Apparently my other friend had mentioned it to her at the weekend and she researched it so she could be supportive. Thought it was so lovely of her!

Nonononon · 22/10/2019 18:56

And *pork ffs! 🤣

Sorry should have re-read before I posted BlushGrin

princessbear80 · 22/10/2019 19:02

Day two complete for me.

B boiled eggs, slice of cheese, tomatoes
L leftover sausages, celeriac mash, courgettes cooked with butter
D chicken thighs with olives, salad, cauli rice

I want to make the bone broth nononon was the method/recipe on thread one.

Been dying my hair since I was 18 and wish I’d never started!! Will look like a badger when I grow it out, which will be one day soon as fed up of the dying cycle.

Loads of water... off to drink more

Almahart · 22/10/2019 19:04

Thanks @stabmereapers. Do you think stress is affecting your weight loss then? I was doing lots of outdoors swimming which really helped but finding it much harder to fit in now that the days are shorter.

Lunch was lamb kofta and cauliflower rice and was really delicious so that gave me a lift

Dinner will be cauliflower cheese I think.

StabMeReapers · 22/10/2019 19:18

KondoKonvert that’s interesting, and lovely, but I want to flag some things.

First, why didn’t you mention your WOE to your friend?

Second, why were you willing to possibly abandon your WOE for a meal where it was—clearly—avoidable?

Third, there is zero shame stating our dietary (not solely in the sense of weight loss) preferences.

It’s clear your lovely friends were supportive, as they would be if you were vegetarian or lactose intolerant or gluten free or allergic to shellfish.

What I’m trying to say to all Bootcampers is that there is no shame in stating “I’m on a healthy way of eating and my goal is to lose weight, so I won’t be eating x or x, but thank you. Can’t wait to see you”

Nonononon · 22/10/2019 19:27

Thank you stayathomegardener Smile

Now, to bring the tone down a little bit.. ive had diarrhoea sort of on and off (mostly on) for the past week or so. I eat plenty of veg so what could be causing it? Is it just my digestive system getting used to all the fat/lack of carbs?

KondoKonvert · 22/10/2019 19:33

@StabMeReapers I totally see where you're coming from and I agree! I'm not shy about it per se, but I've never had a single dietary requirement in my life and it takes a little getting used to!

Wibblytummy · 22/10/2019 19:39

Manic day here.
B: ff Greek yogurt & a coffee
L: Burger, cheese, mushrooms, lettuce cucumber.
D: Bolognese on a pile of butter fried courgette and broccolini, sprinkled with cheese Halloween Smile

Slightly terrified of how next 48hrs will go. Off tomorrow afternoon to a big family get together. Tomorrow has a huge pre planned catered meal that I've no control over and a big birthday cake too.
Then Thursday I can cater for myself but I've no idea if we're in the house or going out so not a clue what to take. Then home midday Friday. Thinking I'll make a frittata for my breakfast on Thursday and Friday and have half an avocado to serve with it. Lunch on Thursday has me stumped what to pack and can store safely there.

Bigger fear is the nibbles. There will be nibbles as far as the eye can see and I'll have to sit on my hands to not steal a crisp Halloween ConfusedHalloween Confused
