Morning!

Here's what you have all been waiting for!

I love this week, because there are always some fabulous results - and those who really didn't believe it was going to work are always amazed!

Oh yeah, hot and sour soup! Forgot about that, I love a soup starter (usually get chicken and sweet corn but that'll be out on BC)
And no problem! I can offer hand holds when people are having booze free weekends Halloween Grin

AthelstaneTheWhoooOOOooo · 25/10/2019 19:53

urgh. long day.

B: coffee with emergency almond milk, as run out of cream
L: pate, yoghurt
D: ham & mayo wrapped in lettuce leaves

Not food of the Gods today. Hmm Too tired, too short of ingredients, too short of time. Bah humbug.

Am finding the no alcohol slightly easier. It's over a month since I gave up, and is harder by far than giving up smoking. Still feel like I'm just waiting until I'm allowed again. Which is why I'm sticking to BC for a few more weeks at least!

(my shopping habits haven't caught up, oddly, so I have quite the stash of on-offer fizz building up in the utility room Confused. It can wait for Christmas, and I need to twig that I don't need to buy it.).

AthelstaneTheWhoooOOOooo · 25/10/2019 20:04

Christ, i'm grumpy. Reasons to be insanely cheerful:

  • my cat's nasty lump is only a fatty lipoma, not worse
  • I RAN up the station stairs today - with a bounce and without losing breath
  • loads of work finished this week so clearer conscience

BUT HORMONES ARRRRGH

  • which is also good, because i usually have an yobbo aggro day right before dropping a couple of lbs

[forced] Grin

Angry Bitch.

StabMeReapers · 25/10/2019 20:20

Geez, what came over me there? I never call females bitches. Thought it was funny. Sorry Athelstane Blush

AthelstaneTheWhoooOOOooo · 25/10/2019 20:27

hah at you, Stab! Grin

Seriously, no need to tiptoe about because I pretended to be scared by Peter Gabriel Grin.

I am fortunate in that much of my work involves having heated conversations with engineers - so language is generally set free to romp through golden fields of offensiveness.

AthelstaneTheWhoooOOOooo · 25/10/2019 20:29

I like to think I have taught as much as I have learned

StuntNun · 25/10/2019 21:31

Stab the stall in weeks 3-4 is nothing to do with switching to Bootcamp Light. It's not even a proper stall as you are still losing weight over this period. The weight loss is temporarily masked by water retention caused by an increase in the hormone ADH (anti-diuretic hormone).

BIWitch · 25/10/2019 21:32

Thank you for explaining that @StuntNun - I know you have done before, but I always forget! Blush

prettybird · 25/10/2019 22:04

I made the "charred roasted broccoli and halloumi" that someone can't remember who posted on the last thread. It is scrumptious Smile

Used shallots rather than onions and a wee bit extra olive oil.

StabMeReapers I was a bit the same when my teenage dc (several years ago) decided to be vegetarian. Me: "OK, but you have to eat vegetables" My 'vegetarian' friend ate cereal and toast for breakfast, sandwich and crisps for lunch, tea might be a pizza - with a smear of tomato and a couple of slices of mushroom. That's not a vegetarian diet, its a carbohydrarian diet.

@Ketomeato bulletproof coffee, also known as butter coffee, is essentially coffee blended with butter (or coconut oil if you're vegetarian). That classic 'bulletproof' has butter plus MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides).

It is a way to make your coffee 'creamy' without adding milk or cream. It can be a great way of getting fat into your diet, especially early in the day if you are doing some kind of time-restricted eating. Some people swear by the combination of high fat and caffeine as a 'brain food'...

My first mistake was to add a dod of butter to my black coffee, and stir. It was just coffee with a pile of grease on it. Then I learned to whizz it with the blender (with or without extra cream). Blending it emulsifies the fats in the butter and honestly you'd not know that it wasn't some kind of creamy latte..

StabMeReapers · 25/10/2019 22:41

It's not even a proper stall as you are still losing weight over this period. The weight loss is temporarily masked by water retention caused by an increase in the hormone ADH (anti-diuretic hormone).

Good reminder. It’s still weight loss, just more like a pound or so rather than the glorious 3-10 that so many experience in the first two weeks. Hadn’t remembered ADH either.

All of this is worth bearing in mind for the next few weeks. I know everyone wants to eat FLGV one day and wake up six stones lighter Grin but as foot-stompingly-disappointing as that may be, it ain’t gonna happen!

StabMeReapers · 25/10/2019 22:43

That's not a vegetarian diet, its a carbohydrarian diet.

Ooh, fancy. Grin. And so true.

TheGhostofRaynaJaymes · 25/10/2019 22:48

Some good stuff on here to keep me focused, we have family staying but so far so good with the food!

B: 2 scrambled eggs with mushrooms
Snack of Manchego
L: egg cheese tomato mayo mix (I used to like this as a sandwich filling) on spinach and cucumber with olive oil
D: bolognaise courgetti with Parmesan and a bit of cheese afterwards.

Nonononon · 25/10/2019 23:07

I'm really looking forward to Monday's weigh in! Still feeling slinky and just caught sight of myself in the mirror when brushing my teeth and defo look like I've lost weight!
Not even over week two yet so I won't get my hopes up too much haha!

SittingontheSidelines · 26/10/2019 00:07

I'm hoping to loose weight 20pounds by Christmas, that's 2pounds a week. And I was doing ok till I was out tonight and had a cocktail, but I rarely drink and it was a special occasion so it was a considered decision and I'm not likely to drink again till I have wine with Christmas dinner.

SittingontheSidelines · 26/10/2019 00:10

Oh and I didn't touch any of the food that was on offer. However I am lying in bed feeling hungry now, probably as a result of all the sugar in that cocktail. Going to ignore the pangs and go to sleep.

AthelstaneTheWhoooOOOooo · 26/10/2019 06:52

Not weighed to find out if true about filthy temper/loss yesterday, and too late now as had bucket of coffee. Very relieved to be feeling normal again today.

B: bucket of coffee with almond milk
L: no idea yet
D: roast chicken with some sort of broccoli/cabbage/mushroom baked medley

Picking up cat meds this morning, so this afternoon is going to be... interesting.

Rshard · 26/10/2019 08:01

Love the phrase carby twats - added to my vocabulary!

It was me that posted the charred broccoli recipe prettybird, was in the Times last weekend and I still haven’t had chance to do it. Glad it was so good!

Ate 3 meals out yesterday and stayed on track, found a poke bowl cafe and they had buttered greens and courgette noodles as base options - was lovely.

absopugginglutely · 26/10/2019 08:09

Morning all,
Today's the visiting Granny day so I'm going to try and swerve as much as possible but I can't imagine today's going to be perfect!
I weighed myself today and noticed that depending on where I place my scales on the bathroom floor there are huge differences! I really need some good scales, anyone got any recommendations?
Happy LC weekend all :)

Glenthezombiebattlingostrich · 26/10/2019 08:30

Good morning everyone

Spent yesterday reading loads on low carb and going through the last couple of bootcamp threads. As well as crocheting and sewing.

BIWI, I am sorry I genuinely forgot to eat for a fair chunk of the day. I was just not hungry. Ended up having Chinese for tea. I had duck with cucumber and some satay chicken with the sauce scraped off. I could try saying breakfast was creamy tea, lunch another creamy tea and some pork scratchings? Not enough water either yesterday either.

It looks like I'll be intermittent fasting from next week! Hate coffee so tried chai tea with coconut oil in and it was delicious so I'm having that instead.

Off to the shops today to stock up on more delicious food (Aldi sea salted butter is amazing).

Are most people doing bootcamp strict during the week then light at the weekend? Been looking at fathead dough recipes, low carb pastry and lasagna type foods to have on a Sunday, need to stock up on mozzarella and cream cheese!

SittingontheSidelines · 26/10/2019 08:32

@absopugginglutely mine too. I try to place them in the same position every time so hopefully it's consistent if not entirely accurate. Mine are incredible ancient (no high tech like battetiesGrin) but I tried some new ones and they were no better. Our floors are way to wobbly. and yes I do shuffle then around a bit to see if I can get them lower. I also stand on very lightly and jump off quick, and don't weigh when my hair is wet.

Rshard · 26/10/2019 08:39

I line up the scales with the strips of wood on the bathroom floor - not that I’m anal about such things

SittingontheSidelines · 26/10/2019 08:43

@Glenthezombiebattlingostrich I shall continue BC and not go to light. B I don't drink (apart from last night) after the couple of weeks without sugar (apart from last night) I've lost my sugar cravings so don't need fruit or dark chocolate, nuts I can't control so best not to go there. Also I do not want to fall mouth first into Christmas. I figure that if I'm strict till then at Christmas I can go mad on the cream and cheese (which I'm also restricting currently) have fruit and cream puddings and a little bit of dark choc, the odd glass of wine, so feel like I'm getting some celebratory food without launching into a three month binge. Anyway that's the plan. I've still a lot to loose. Sorry it's such a long response.

VeryLittleOwl · 26/10/2019 08:56

That's the first time I've ever weighed the same the morning after a curry as I did the day before :) Turns out that not only is the cauliflower bhaji at the takeaway absolutely delicious (I was expecting something deep fried in batter, same as onion bhajis, but it was cauliflower in a bhaji-flavoured sauce and no batter in sight), but they'll do it for me as a main dish for £5.95, so that's going to be my order from now on, that'll be more than enough for me.
