Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

chipping that's a long time you've had your knee problem, are you getting any kind of medical support?

Do you eat butter? and have you tried butter coffee (1oz butter whizzed into coffee with a blender)? It's like the best ever latte and I sometimes have it as a breakfast replacement. The caffeine and the fat give me an energy boost and it has some protein...

ChippingInLowCarbing · 26/07/2019 22:43

@BIWI PHD protein shake

@venusandmars

Mildly for years (locks in certain positions etc) moderately since Nov (lots of swelling and various things) quite severely since March - did cancer ‘walk 10,000 steps a day every day’ I’d been doing that most days, but during March did 8,000 on a specific walk and 2000-10,000 more on everyday livung’ It was hurting more as the month went on but it eased up after I’d walked for a bit so I pushed on through. Been crated, seen occupational consultant, now seeing a physio - tempted to get another OC apt and see about some injections

I’ve trued Bp coffee & ‘butter coffee’ but I really can’t stomach it. But plenty of butter in veg!!

Notwatchingtvtoday · 27/07/2019 10:03

Morning all
I did post yesterday, but seems to have disappeared into the air, so maybe I forgot to press post.
Had a busy week, which has been a lovely distraction. I’m in the south and it has been so Hot, but it’s raining today and if i could I would seriously considering running round the garden with no clothes on 😀
My scales are definitely nudging downwards, very very slowly but I’m happy with that, I’m trying to stick to boot camp with the odd extra. I’m hoping to be a 1 lb down by Monday.
Last night we had a Charlie Bingham curry, I just had the chicken and sauce with some roasted beans and broccoli, it was surprisingly excellent. So maybe thats The way forward for a Friday night curry.
I don’t want to make my previous mistake which was to add in carbs onto of the high fat, as others have said it is definitely an either/Or way of eating and I know that I can’t mix them.
Lovely to hear how your all doing, some of the posts did make me smile and hope your knee starts to feel better soon chipping . By the way, I only add about 8gms of butter ( I weighed it just for you) to my cofffee and whizz it with a stick blender. I do have 2 or 3 a day though and have virtually stopped drinking tea, which is not a sentence that i thought I would ever type.
Anyway KOKO and water, water, water....

Notwatchingtvtoday - if you're posting from your phone, MN does have an irritating habit of "eating" posts which then disappear into the ether. Of course, it only does this on long posts Confused and only does it intermittently Hmm so that you forget to Copy before posting, just in case Angry

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/07/2019 17:52

@prettybird you could make a vat of hollandaise and just dip everything into it. Everything.

Almahart · 27/07/2019 18:25

Has anyone made anything particularly delicious recently?

I had mushrooms in creme fraiche with tons of black pepper and parsley last night. That was pretty good

SittingontheSidelines · 27/07/2019 20:30

My new favourite, very quick and easy, is prawns, mushrooms and avacado, seasoned with garlic pepper and cayenne pepper, tossed in olive oil and pan fried. Serve with tenderstem broccoli, green beans and baby sweet corn. Fage Greek on the side.

YesQueen · 27/07/2019 20:41

@Almahart a sort of JO recipe
Fry off some chopped shallots and a mix of chopped mushrooms until soft/golden. Add chicken until cooked. Add cream and whole grain mustard to taste, salt and pepper. Bubble until it looks sauce like. Sometimes needs a tiny bit of lemon juice to lift it

Notlostjustexploring · 27/07/2019 22:44

Today 17:52 MrsTerryPratchett

@prettybird you could make a vat of hollandaise and just dip everything into it. Everything.

Why is there not a "like" button for posts!!!! Yes a million times to the above!!

My dinner tonight was pretty nice. Chicken with a parmesan crust, side of green beans sauted with mustard seeds and broccoli with pesto, cream cheese and marscarpone stirred through. Piss easy to do too.

Almahart · 27/07/2019 23:25

Ooh those all sound good, thank you

prettybird · 28/07/2019 00:20

Here's the roulade, before I took it along and after one slice had been taken at the very wet garden party Smile

I'll post the recipe up tomorrow on the "Desserts and other sweet things recipes" thread. Raspberries were from my garden and were the only "real" carbs. Essentially it's just a load of egg whites & a tiny bit of cream of tartar, 3 tbsps of erithrytol (as my "sweetener choice") rolled up with lots of cream and raspberries. It went down very well Smile

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/07/2019 09:38

Just checking in to say I'm still here, still KOKOing - still haven't had a chance to weigh myself this week.

On top of the usual school holiday madness, my mum has been taken ill and is in and out of hospital. She's in terrible pain and can't keep food down at all. A scan says there's a thickening of the bowel that needs investigating, so we're waiting for a colonoscopy. So that's fun. Sad

BIWI · 28/07/2019 12:40

I'm sorry to hear that @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal Sad

Hope that they can sort things out for her soon, and she can get her pain under control

OP posts:
prettybird · 28/07/2019 12:47

I hope it's not too serious Greebols

Almahart · 28/07/2019 12:50

Greebo very sorry to hear that, I hope you get some reassurance soon

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/07/2019 13:11

Thank you all. She suffers from diverticulitis so we are hoping it's "just" a flare up of that. Nonetheless it's horrible that she's been left in such pain - not to mention, she's really hungry as she can't keep anything down. When I called her earlier she was celebrating as she'd managed to keep down solid food - a whole spoonful of plain yoghurt! - for the first time in 72 hours.

Anyway, in brighter news, I thought I'd post a couple of photos, to show my progress. One from this morning ('scuse the mess, DD's room is the only one in the house with a full length mirror) and one taken on stage in April - most recent pre-BC full-length photo I could find.

I'm delighted with the difference. Thank you BIWI for everything - and all of you for the support. Xx

Greebols those pictures are fantastic. You look amazing! And I hope your mum starts feeling better soon.

I'm currently seeing no progress on the scales, but I think I'm definitely losing fat. My stomach seems to be deflating and it's having that sort of immediate post pregnancy/melted candle look about it. That improves, right...? I would like to start seeing shifting numbers though!! I'm an engineer. If it's not reflected in the numbers, it's not real!!

prettybird · 28/07/2019 13:40

I've posted the recipe for the meringue roulade in the "Desserts and other sweet things Recipe thread" Smile

prettybird · 28/07/2019 13:41

Fab picture Greebols StarFlowers

You look amazing!!!!

Rshard · 28/07/2019 16:05

Great photos greebol, hope your mum is ok

Almahart · 28/07/2019 17:12

I actually keep looking back at your picture for inspiration Greebo

SittingontheSidelines · 28/07/2019 18:00

Wow @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

ChippingInLowCarbing · 28/07/2019 19:03

nitwstching thank you for weighing your butter. 8g doesn’t seem much & might be bearable! Currently the stick blender is hiding from me (fuck knows where as the kitchen is tiny!! I suspect the cupboard of doom, but couldn’t see it when I looked earlier. I’ll have to empty it properly)

greebols you were never going to look like ‘the fat maid’. I’d happily take your ‘before photo’ as my ‘after’ photo, but you do look extra fab in your most recent photo 😊🌷well done xx. How’s the run going? When does it finish?
