Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

@Youwanapizzame boiled egg and cheese salad for me, lots of dressing. Fage Greek Yogurt for afters

1stMrsF · 25/07/2019 22:19

Dinner was a very 1980s 'Chefs salad' with sliced chicken, cheddar cubes, hard boiled eggs and avocado. Good easy food - I CBA to cook in this heat.

tea69 · 25/07/2019 23:16

I had fish and salad for dinner.

What's the recipe for roasted green beans or is it just green beans, erm, roasted?

prettybird · 25/07/2019 23:30

I just coated the green beans (pre-prepared bag from Lidl) in some olive oil, added some roughly chopped garlic and sprinkled with sea salt. They went in to the oven for a wee while with the oven chips (for dh and ds) that were already in there. Not sure how long - actually took them out for a bit and put them back for a few minutes when everything else was nearly ready.

Ended up eating the whole bag Grin as dh did baked beans for himself and ds ate his burger and then decided his hangover meant he couldn't eat anything else Wink

NigellaAwesome · 26/07/2019 07:42

Weather is due to break here today in France. Thank goodness, it has been 40+ degrees every day for the last 4 days. We went out for dinner last night (pate with fois gras and salad leaves) and between the blistering heat even at 9pm, and being attacked by flies and wasps, it felt like a bit of an ordeal. I looked like a typical Irish person beside all the beautifully coiffed women. Milky white / blue liberally dotted with red inflamed mossie bites, sweating profusely and red in the face. Added to our satnav adventure on the way back where I inadvertently had it set to cycle routes rather than driving, made for an interesting end to the evening. HmmGrin

Rshard · 26/07/2019 07:59

Think I need to get some green beans, sound lovely!

That sounds an eventful evening nigella!

After my egg fast I’ve lost 4.5lbs so very close to my mini goal of being in the 10’s, just 3/4lb to go.

Grimbles · 26/07/2019 08:12

I might give the egg fast a go after the weekend, still seem to be losing and gaining the same couple of lbs regardless so worth a go.

Grimbles · 26/07/2019 08:12

Roasted green beans are amazing, btw!

Almahart · 26/07/2019 08:19

I was thrilled to reach my target weight but I haven’t seen it since! Bobbing about just above it for a week or so now - 2ibs up this morning

Rshard · 26/07/2019 08:32

That’s exactly what I was doing grimbles, so I’m hoping that it’s given my system a kick

Morning campers Brew

Haven’t posted for about a week but not really sure how it’s managed to be that long(?) so thought I’d better check in, if only to prove that I am not avoiding the thread and therefore must still be on track Grin Wink

Admittedly last weekend I completely Thelma and Louise-d the wagon off a cliff at high speed Hmm Which was definitely a case of the fuck-it’s, feeling ill and general misery.
However, it was so bad I actually shocked myself - imagine if you will (or not), me sitting on the loo with major stomach ache putting the day’s food into mfp just to see how bad it had actually been and being Shock Shock Blush

So Sunday I had a word with myself about making bad situations worse, got a bit of a grip and started again and am now very much back on track, in control and therefore definitely not in the avoiding the thread camp Grin
The wreckage has been retrieved from bottom of the cliff and wagon is now in the workshop being patched up.

Been a busy week (genuinely) since dd split up for hols and have been trying to keep up with thread but didn’t manage to post so thought I’d at least make a start by sticking my foot through the door this morning and catch up properly later.

prettybird · 26/07/2019 08:52

I'm another one who was stalling at a weight, losing and regaining the same pound, for whom the egg fast worked in getting the scales moving downward again Smile

You do need to like eggs though! Grin

Even though I stopped the egg fast last week, I've still home through 24 eggs in a week between ds and me Shock

And I'm going to have 9 , nine Shock egg yolks to deal with tomorrow Shock. Am making a low carb meringue roulade which uses 6 egg whites and an ordinary pavlova (3 egg whites) for a friend's garden party.

Almahart · 26/07/2019 09:33

18pages it won’t take long to turn it around

prettybird I think I tried the egg fast at the wrong time in that it was after I’d fallen off the wagon a bit over a weekend and so it got me back to where I had been previously- really I wanted it to take me into new territory Grin

Also the sodding Boursin finished me off

Two weeks til holiday in France - I will be doing bc v light from now until then I think

tea69 · 26/07/2019 09:34

Thanks for the recipe @prettybird, sounds yum.

ShagMeRiggins · 26/07/2019 09:43

The wreckage has been retrieved from bottom of the cliff and wagon is now in the workshop being patched up.

I used to be a carpenter, I can help with those repairs.

Fondue night went well enough. Too hot to do it right but managed a delicious cheese sauce with baked baguette and steamed broccoli & cauliflower. More of a girls’ night than a dinner party, everyone was exhausted, and this sufficed for their dinner.

Lots of great conversation, lots of laughing, lots of privacy as husband is camping with the children. House to myself until Tuesday—bliss.

Currently being decadent and watching Tootsie (I know, but it’s still brilliant!), then perhaps a small nap, then treadmill, household chores, and a bit of getting back to clients/work.

I really, really love when they all go to Scout Camp and this is the last year so I’m making the most of it!

Fasting morning, FLGV salad after treadmill for lunch, then some form of suitable leftovers for dinner. Plus WATER! WATER! WATER!

ShagMeRiggins · 26/07/2019 09:43

Ps—is anyone here into Ottolenghi?

Rshard · 26/07/2019 09:49

Welcome back 18pages, i liked the Thelma and Louise comment!

I’m hoping for the same effect prettybird, feeling a bit queasy after yoghurt breakfast and have already been to the loo a couple of times if you know what I mean.

Bit jealous of your French trip alma, love it but not been for a few years but dh and I talking last night about going to Annecy next year. Where are you off too?

Your fondue evening sounds lovely shagme

Ninkaninus · 26/07/2019 09:59

Oh my goodness it’s really been 10 weeks!

Thank you all for your kindness and for listening when I’ve needed it, thank you to BIWI and others who’ve help run bootcamp. 💐💐💐

Well done to us all! 🥂🍾 I’ve only dipped in during the second half but I’ve been cheering you all on from the sidelines. We’re so lucky to have such a delicious, satisfying and healthy way of life to live by!

Wishing you all great continuing success.👍👍

venusandmars · 26/07/2019 11:16

@prettybird low carb meringue roulade.... ? recipe? please

Ottolenghi - I Love the recipes but my favourites are all a bit carby..

prettybird · 26/07/2019 11:26

I kept on meaning to post it up last year but I will post it up this year, together with a photo Smile

...which reminds me, I'd better check where my erithrytol is and that I've got enough Wink ....and I've just re-checked the recipe: it's eight egg whites, not six Shock

Notlostjustexploring · 26/07/2019 13:44

Oooo....spare egg yolk. Was there not someone with a recipe that involved stirring egg yolk through mushrooms?

You could have a very yolk heavy scrambled egg? Or is it possible to lightly poach just the yolks so you can get the best bit of poached eggs?

Although you can get cartons of egg white in most supermarkets. I bought it for doing the granola recipe as although I feel I'm a competent cook, separating eggs is beyond me.

prettybird · 26/07/2019 15:01

Mushrooms Envy

NigellaAwesome · 26/07/2019 15:38

Use the yolks for mayo? I do a lovely coriander and lime mayo, thinned with a bit of water to make a dressing.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 26/07/2019 18:57

@18pagesfrontandback goid to see you, I’ve been reading but lacking time to post too. Lived yiur T&L story - you always make me laugh 😘your wagon seems quite well repaired!! KOKO

Loving all the before/after photos. Thanks for sharing 💕 hopefully there will be a few more?!

prettybird looking good! So giid I didn’t even notice your car until someone else commented Blush I’m sorry you lost cleo - it’s very hard when they go. I know that photo was last year & you were 6lbs lighter, but I’m sure you look good in that same outfit now!

@ShagMeRiggins Fondue night sounds fun! Enjoy the remainder of your time ‘home alone’. As much as you love them it’s bliss isn’t it!

I haven’t been able to weigh in this week as I’ve been away for work - I’ve added in a protein shake every day because as vegetarian no eggs, without eating tofu I was barely getting any protein. I’ve enjoyed them, but I think the scales aren’t going to have approved if them! The powder itself too bad (5g carb) but I’ve been adding gage yogurt, cream & milk (to loosen it up a bit) I wasn’t able to get any milk alternative, but I’ll be home in Sunday so I’ll sort that out then & try with that.
Had loads of salad this week, rather than veg so that helps with my overall carb intake. It’ll be interesting to see what the scales say on Monday I feel dat & bloated, but it’s pissibly the heat not really helping snd my knee is still really bad so hobbling around isn’t helping me feel good about myself/weight/life. I’m really fed up
Of the impact it’s having in my life, I can’t hardly walk on it so it’s spoiling a lot of stuff and mentally I don’t feel good if I don’t get out for a good walk every day and despite the fact it doesn’t do much for weight loss it does make me more toned so I feel thinner and I feel fitter and I miss that

BIWI · 26/07/2019 20:17

Which shakes have you been using @ChippingInLowCarbing?
