Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

Ooh, Wildheart, your menus look delicious! How do you do the courgetti? I've never tried it, but am looking for things to go with nice hearty stuff like bolognese...

ShagMe, I took your advice and went for the oysters...and a glass of wine (well, it was included in the deal!). They were fab!!

Just hit a new low for me, 5.7kg off which is TWELVE POUNDS!! Wowzers. Well happy.

Rshard · 03/10/2019 18:46

Really like the sound of your fish/creme fraiche/mustard combo 1wild. I don’t eat much fish but would like to.

I had a device for courgetti wontletthose, it was a bit like a large pencil sharpener.

Pleasant surprise at a lunch after a meeting, with sliced meats and cheese available, plus some meat skewers - was lovely

Rshard · 03/10/2019 18:47

And well done on those 12lbs!

ShagMeRiggins · 03/10/2019 19:47

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe sonppeased to hear the oysters were good. If they’re like that this early in the season, bring on December.

Rshard I know the default is cakes and sandwiches, and everything these days is Vegan this and Vegan that, but how wonderful it must have felt to be offered LCHF options at a business meeting!

WATER! WATER! WATER! y’all...

1Wildheartsease · 03/10/2019 23:26

Courgetti is easy - and delicious. The rest of the family prefer it to pasta!

Spiralise a courgette per person

Heat butter/oil/garlic/lemon zest /herbs or spices in a frying pan. Stir fry the courgetti in this for 2mins. Ta-da!

absopugginglutely · 04/10/2019 20:18

Hi all I hope you’re having a lovely LC day!

I keep seeing people saying that they’re having Bolognese. Is the tomato Bolognese sauce not really

I’m on day 6 and am a bit bored of greens and meat/fish/egg for tea but I’m sticking with it.

Breakfast: Greek yoghurt with a dollop of double cream and cinnamon

Lunch: tin of tuna mayo with green salad.

Dinner: halloumi, rasher of bacon and green salad with radishes.

So far 2 pints of water will have more when baby in bed.

I have noticed two things:
Weird poo. In perfect large and small balls and a darkish green colour?

Sex drive: returned. Thank god!

absopugginglutely · 04/10/2019 20:19

That sentence was unfinished sorry Confused is the Bol sauce not really carby?

Rayna37 · 04/10/2019 21:43

absopugging I suppose Bolognese is a bit carbier than just plain meat/fish with greens but nothing that's not bootcamp suitable. For mine, something along the lines of mince (highest fat percentage you can find, and sometimes I do half beef half pork if batch cooking a big panful), olive oil, one can of chopped tomatoes, shallots, maybe a bit of tomato purée, splash of red wine, lots of garlic, dried oregano and basil, and sometimes I add some mushrooms or a green pepper. Serves about 4 so the carbs from the tomato are well spread out!

Rshard · 05/10/2019 10:10

I’ve always had bolognaise on this woe abso and take the same view as rayna

You’re right shagme, I was surprised at the buffet and dove straight in!

absopugginglutely · 05/10/2019 10:22

Rayna37 thanks that sounds gorgeous!
I’m still trying to get my head around it all. So is red wine low carb? And tomato’s, tomato paste/ shallots?

I’ve been avoiding these things because I’m still in week 2.

Rayna37 · 05/10/2019 13:16

absopugging ah ok maybe no wine if you're in week 2 (though not really a problem in cooking!) but as for the veg, check out the lists on the spreadsheet at the top of the thread. There's a good list split into green amber and red and lots of other useful info. Shallots better than onions, green peppers better than red and yellow much worse. Tomato is generally fine within reason.

You'll start to figure out what you can tolerate and still lose weight; I'm generally fine as long as I avoid the highest carb stuff like butternut squash, carrots etc most of the time.

Mimosa1 · 06/10/2019 17:59

Oooh that Bolognese sounds gorgeous.

absopugginglutely · 06/10/2019 18:50

I know I’m going to make it too!

ShagMeRiggins · 07/10/2019 20:45

Back from my annual conference, did okay with the exception of breakfast (hash browns—and all the right stuff!) and today’s lunch (no celery for the pâté so went for brioche, ate 1/4 of it)

My business is home/based so I am always in control of my own food. Again, I’m awed by those of you who navigate the muck and mire of unplanned schedules (oxymoron) and unknown offerings on a daily basis.

But I did get in my daily amount of WATER! WATER! WATER! Whoop whoop.

Almahart · 08/10/2019 08:13

I’m not losing at all at the mo and am getting a bit fed up about it.

I’m trying to get to a weight that I’ve only ever been at once before, and that was on a BC three years ago. My body just doesn’t seem to want to give up any more weight!

ShagMeRiggins · 08/10/2019 10:37

Almahart, just stick with it. You know this. You’re likely to whoosh at some point and even if you don’t this is a delicious, healthy way of eating.

Bootcamp starts soon but you don’t have to wait—maybe post your daily meals and we can chime in with potential adjustments? You’ve not much left to lose, right?

Rayna37 · 08/10/2019 11:14

Great article in The Times today about how cheese isn't bad for us and has in fact many health benefits. Apparently the report it references was published in August, shame there wasn't more coverage (that I recall!). Won't link because of the paywall but here's a little nugget to make us optimistic that the tide is turning on fat:

"Now, though, some researchers claim that cheese’s links with cardiovascular disease are tenuous. In newly published guidelines based on a two-year review of recent evidence, Australia’s national health service has relaxed its view on cheese, suggesting that it’s fine to eat full-fat dairy (unless you have heart disease) and that cheese may have particular health benefits.

In the UK the latest review by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition review, published in August, recommends that foods high in saturated fat, such as cheese, should be eaten sparingly, but for how long will this view last? Research part-funded by the British Heart Foundation has questioned the guidelines about the type of fat we eat and even the most cautious observers concede that the future for cheese lovers is brighter."

Almahart · 08/10/2019 11:46

Thanks shag. I should probably go back to listing out what I eat again.

On top of impending separation I think o am getting into peri menopause. Have a lot of spotting at the moment (sorry tmi) which I need to get checked out

ShagMeRiggins · 08/10/2019 11:54

Almahart while you’re getting the spotting checked out, ask about peri. I really wish someone had given me this advice at the time—might’ve saved me from my breakdown. Hmm

Almahart · 08/10/2019 11:55

Really? What was it that was particularly difficult? I am quite anxious about becoming anxious - that’s one of the things I’m worried about

ShagMeRiggins · 08/10/2019 11:55

Rayna I’m going to read it in a sec but do you (or anyone) know how to do a share token? I see Times articles shared through that all the time on the feminist boards and still can figure it out. Would be happy to share if I knew how. ConfusedConfused

ShagMeRiggins · 08/10/2019 11:56

Or I could just google like I just did and figure it out my damn self. #numpty

Off to try a share...

ShagMeRiggins · 08/10/2019 12:07

Alma I don’t want to scare you, it’s okay.

For me, I didn’t know depression and anxiety were potential symptoms. Given my personal history, I was probably more susceptible than most. It’s certainly not everyone’s experience!

If I had sought thorough medical advice I believe this could have been managed and I could have had support in place to help me recognise the downward spiral. As it was, it was about four years of hell from which I’ve only recently been emerging. I’m still not 100% “fixed” but now I have backup and know what to do, as do others in my life.

One thing I say with complete sincerity and gratitude is that the Bootcamp boards were always there for me, even just lurking. That, and Pokemon Go. Grin

Happy to talk Over PM if you have questions, but really better to see GP (and even if this is sexist I’d find a female in her 50s/60s).
