Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

Hope you’re feeling better Shag

I bought some of the ludicrously expensive LoDough and just tried it out. Made a little pizza. It looks worryingly like packing material and tastes like that too. Not too bad as a vessel for pizza toppings but not great either. I kept wondering what was in it. Feel a bit sick now.

I don’t think I’ll buy it again. I’m going to try other ways to make bread like things.

I’ll do a longer reply to you lovelies later, but I’m the meantime guess what I haven’t had enough of today...? WATER! WATER! WATER!

I cannot overemphasise how important this is to loss, skin, and general well being.

Also FAT! FAT! FAT! The good kind, obviously.

We are lucky enough to live in a part of the world where water and good fats are in abundance. Let’s take advantage of them. Mwah!

Chicken fajita bowl for tea

Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!
RozHuntleysStump · 18/09/2019 19:45

Your tea looks nicer than mine Yesqueen ☹️

YesQueen · 18/09/2019 19:56

I can recommend it Grin
It was chicken, a green pepper and some shallots cooked in a sugar free fajita spice mix. Iceberg lettuce, avocado, a couple of cherry tomatoes, lots of black pepper/salt and lime juice and sour cream

Rayna37 · 18/09/2019 20:22

I had similar: fajita beef, it was really good. Thin steak strips, red onion, peppers, courgette, mushrooms, garlic topped with grated cheese and sour cream. The carb count from the veg would be a bit high for strict BC (maybe swap red onion for shallots and only use green peppers).

I make my own fajita seasoning, can't recall if it's on the recipe thread so:
1tsp each cumin, chilli powder, paprika, garlic granules, oregano and some s&p. Super cheap, sugar free and you can mix it up in bulk and store in a jar.

SittingontheSidelines · 18/09/2019 21:25

Away at the weekend and over indulged. It's taken till today to get back on it so I've fasted and just had a small chicken salad.

RozHuntleysStump · 19/09/2019 07:45

The lodough thing has doubled my blood sugar! Can’t be anything else. God

Cauliflowerpower · 19/09/2019 14:40

Hey everyone - checking back in AGAIN! LOL 3rd times a charm.

We are back from a break at Butlins and finished it off with 2 days at Paultons park (home of Peppa Pig world)... We needed Booze to get through it... and now look like Peppa's less attractive aunt.... Sigh. I also have developed a terrible cough and have started on high dose steroids for my arthritis so either I'm not sleeping due to the steroids or I just drop off and start to cough....

In other news we HAVE got back on the wagon. I made the MOST delicious Cauliflower cheese soup and we had that for dinner Tuesday and Wednesday, I have chicken legs out for tonights. Oven is out of action so looking at some kind of casserole.

Todays food

B - Sausage bacon and mushrooms
L - MASSIVE salad with cheese and salami
snack - babybel
D - Chicken casseroley type thing with courgette and aubergine

Weighed in at 18.6 on tuesday and already showing a little down today.

Seriously try the cauliflower cheese soup - easy and amazeballs.

I'll put the full recipe up on the veggie recipe thread. From a site called "My Keto Kitchen" (not me though!)

but in short

Melt butter, fry garlic, add cauli (i used a whole bag of frozen) fry for a bit, add chicken stock and cream and season, simmer 10-15 mins until tender. Cool slightly and blend until smooth. Add parmesan (I also added cheddar) The recipe adds fried bacon at this point too which I did but you can leave it out.

YUM IT UP!

ShagMeRiggins · 19/09/2019 18:34

Not eating much of anything but by God I’m missing WATER today! Trying to catch up now. Cauliflower soup looks utterly lush. I misread Yum It Up as Vulva, at a glance on my phone.

SittingontheSidelines · 20/09/2019 02:48

Just posting my dinner of spaghetti bolognaise without the spaghetti, sliced green beans, baby corn and tenderstem broccoli.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/09/2019 03:13

Can someone slap the chocolate out of my hand? Please?

I am incapable of having 'a couple of squares' and eat the whole bloody bar. The rest of the time I'm well-behaved. I need proper bootcamp to start.

ShagMeRiggins · 20/09/2019 07:00

Why are you even awake at 3am MrsTerry let alone making use of your time to eat
Chocolate? Confused

Cauliflowerpower · 20/09/2019 11:36

@ShagMeRiggins please dont put soup on your Vulva, thats just wrong....

@MrsTerryPratchett - Mmmmmm terrys chocolate oranges were 75p in Tescos... I might have put 1 or 4 in the basket for Xmas gifts Mmmmmm PUT THE CHOCOLATE DOWN DEAR

Right

having a bit of a day - very fractious child this morning (up at 5,30 crying for 2 hours nearly for "DADEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" who had already left for work... then I have endured a very boring audit this morning which did not go entirely well... GAH

B - Bacon and Sausage - didnt really eat more than just the bacon as didnt have time before the audit....
L - Massive salad with cheese and Chicken
D - Lovely chicken casserole I made last night served with courgette, aubergine and tomatoes and may fry a few green beans tonight to go with it.

Have a good day Peeps.

WATER!

Mimosa1 · 20/09/2019 14:45

@Cauliflowerpower I have been there withthr Dadddeee. DH tells me that the DC do this the other way when I'm not there and I'm sure it must be the same in the Cauliflower household!

I've had a mini woosh and down to 78.3kg but I don't have that lovely feeling of being full, which a poster on a previous BC thread called "eating in" yet so I reckon I'm not in keypads. I don't mind - I'm still losing and happy for it - but would like not to constantly be thinking about my next meal iyswim

Still - onwards and downwards. Only 5kg to go down to where I was last year according to weight diary. Sigh...

Cauliflowerpower · 20/09/2019 14:48

Mimosa - hang on in there - the not thinking about food will come... its quite liberating when it does! When I started this last bootcamp I got to a point where I could quite easily not bother with breakfast and not need snacks either. I'll be glad when I get to that point again too!

Cauliflowerpower · 21/09/2019 10:02

Had a sneak peek on the scales today and surprised to see -5lbs already! Very happy with that although I know Tuesday might say different and its prolly all water...

B - omelette with bacon and cheese
L- going toa local carnival so will take a salad and might see if there are any lc options
D - undecided but either curry or chicken takeaway

princessbear80 · 21/09/2019 19:08

Haven’t been posting much but I’m still going nearly four weeks in now!

Seem to be eating a lot of eggs!!
B- egg salad
L- another egg salad Blush
D- not hungry

Must drink more water, weekends are always harder!

venusandmars · 21/09/2019 19:26

@princesbear80 isn't that interesting - lots of eggs, then not hungry!

princessbear80 · 21/09/2019 22:34

They were boiled eggs mashed with butter venus so I think it’s the butter filling me up more than the eggs.

Ineedachange · 22/09/2019 08:28

Hello Peeps Smile
So here I am looking to start Keto. Our family returned from two years in the US in May. Not only have I stopped all the running and CrossFit I was doing completely but I’ve been on so much weight as we seem to be constantly celebrating the fact we’re home.
I did the South Beach diet years ago after having DS and I’d largely maintained it until we went to the US. But now, it’s all shot to be bits.
I started Slimming World in September as I bought and was inspired by the Pinch of Nom book. My whole family loves the recipes but it’s really it’s not doing anything to help me lose weight. And I feel to heavy to run.
So, please, can I join in with you?

BIWI · 22/09/2019 10:57

Welcome @Ineedachange! You are more than welcome to join us, but just to say that Bootcamp isn't really the same as Keto. Yes, we keep our carbs low and the fat high, but we don't count carbs, so it's not quite as strict as a true keto diet would be. (Although you could make it so!)

OP posts:
Ineedachange · 22/09/2019 11:05

Thank you BIWI. Essentially I need to give my metabolism a kick, I feel that big the better to start with and transitioning to low carb. I’ve been eating too many carbs lately and alot if fruit with Slimming World and it’s just puffed me up.

SittingontheSidelines · 22/09/2019 17:10

Yes yes. Two lovely celariacs purchased in Morrisons yesterday. It's only the second time I've found them in months. So tonight it's steak and celariac chips with tomatoes, mushrooms and cabbage. I can hear my tummy rumbling as I write.

ShagMeRiggins · 22/09/2019 17:28

WATER! WATER! WATER! (Even though it’s raining...) Grin
