Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

BIWI · 22/07/2019 08:23

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

Not losing anything here but am in week three and also maybe being s little bit too relaxed. I think from Monday I might start doing some intermittent fasting.

I did make a very easy freezer dinner - frozen smoked haddock, frozen spinach, cream and lemon, cheese and a beaten egg -baked in the oven. Was a lovely mix of fish pie and cheese soufflé. Recommend!

Mimosa1 · 15/09/2019 10:20

@Almahart I love the sound of that - recipe please!

I've had a mini woosh - down to 79.2 today. I think it's the GALLONS of water I drank yesterday (very hot where we were).

Almahart · 15/09/2019 10:30

I’ll add it to the recipe thread! It was lovely

Started today with a swim, now eating yog raspberries and seeds

venusandmars · 15/09/2019 11:35

@almahart you've reminded me of a recipe recommended by my friend for kedgeree (but with cauliflower rice).

Finely diced shallots fried gently in butter, add curry powder / spices of choice, add flaked cooked smoked haddock. Serve over cauliflower rice and top with chopped boiled egg and parsley.

Ingredients on my shopping list for tea tomorrow.

Rayna37 · 15/09/2019 12:15

Venusandmars there are a couple of kedgeree recipes on the fish thread, that's in my plan for this week too! Love it.

Had 2 sausages on the side of a mushroom omelette for breakfast but lacking inspiration for lunch.

Good day yesterday:
Brunch:
bacon eggs mushrooms fried tomato
Dinner: spatchcocked piri piri chicken with sautéed greens, both reduced in Tesco!

ShagMeRiggins · 16/09/2019 08:51

Good morning everyone. Water. That is all.

princessbear80 · 16/09/2019 09:02

Yes, water water water.

Monday morning weigh in for me, I’ve lost 7.5lbs over all (3 weeks) and can really see the difference in my body shape. My stomach is far less bloated.

YesQueen · 16/09/2019 10:50

4lbs UP this morning ConfusedConfusedHmmHmm
KOKO

Mimosa1 · 16/09/2019 18:28

Hi all,
Reporting in. I know I went overboard with the carbs yesterday (limited choice at the restaurants where we were) because I was ravenous today. I ended up having lunch at 11 and dinner at 4.30. Hopefully that's a reset for tomorrow!

RozHuntleysStump · 16/09/2019 18:39

Hey all. I’ve been back on the Bootcamp Wagon for this past week. I can’t believe it but I’ve lost 7lbs! I’m sure it’s not all fat etc but it is still weight and I am chuffed. My blood sugar has gone down too. Just checked it and I finally got it below 5. I could weep I’m so pleased. I joined the ramblers too and I feel a bit weird as I’m 40 and the youngest in my group by at least 20years but whatev I kept on and I’m absolutely loving it. Thanks again @biwi you’re saving lives here! And I’m very grateful.

I wish I hadn’t fallen off the wagon over the summer but I just have to be positive. I’ve lost over 3 stone so far following this way of eating.

ShagMeRiggins · 16/09/2019 18:43

Thanks again @biwi you’re saving lives here!

Yep. Through BIWI’s big stick (like it or not), compassion, research, and good sense, lives are saved.

This whole group (community) does that.

RozHuntley (I’m gonna have to look that up), bloody well done on a three stone loss.

WATER! WATER! WATER!

Seriously, everyone drink some water right now.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 17/09/2019 08:21

Morning all, just checking in , so good to see everyones posts, it’s been a very emotional few days here, with many tears, but have managed to limit the sweet stuff and have miraculously got back to the weight I was at the end of boot camp.
I’m amazed at how the low carbs is now the norm when eating and have a routine for breakfast and a go to of roasted green beans, cauliflower or celaric instead of a more starchy carb.
BUT typing this I have realised that I need to think about that for a really quick lunch, in pre boot camp days it would have been a sandwich or some soup, so any thoughts on what you all do when feeling a bit lazy would be really good to hear
Today
Water, coffee
B total Greek yogurt
L I’m going to make a baked egg Frittata, so I can have a slice easily when rushing around later in the week
D beef mince made into some kind of chilli or spicy loveliness with cauliflower rice

Notwatchingtvtoday · 17/09/2019 08:29

ShagMeRiggins I agree it is the community, thanks so much for putting it into words.

Also, thought it might make you smile that I think of you when I mutter water, water, water to myself but in my head it has a pirate accent Smile

RozHuntleysStump · 17/09/2019 08:30

@ShagMeRiggins my username is a line of duty reference!

@Notwatchingtvtoday I usually have salad for lunch. Tuna, chicken, cheese etc. I’ve got a lovely little pack up box I got from Paperchase and I make it if I’m going anywhere. Yesterday I took my little cheese salad and ate it right before my walk with the ramblers. The only nuisance is that I have to keep driving back to the supermarket to replenish my salad supplies! 🥗

My blood sugar this morning is 4.2. Praise be. And I’m 13.12 I started this at 17stone!

RozHuntleysStump · 17/09/2019 08:31

And yes, it is the whole community. I get a lot out of reading the past threads. I just meant the creation of the bootcamp woe itself. 🥰🥰

ShagMeRiggins · 17/09/2019 11:09

Absolutely, all credit to BIWI etc who lead us through this process. Wasn’t meant as a correction (I can see how it came across that way!), more of an addition to what you said. It’s wonderful that we all learn as we go along and continue to offer community and support.

Today ladies I am falling apart. Not diet wise, but emotionally. And I am now going to drink some water because I need to focus on the present, self care, caring for my children, getting through work, and improving my life.

So water it is.

Mimosa1 · 17/09/2019 12:44

Oh @ShagMeRiggins I'm sorry things are tough ( though it did make me smile that even though things are difficult you are still (quite rightly!) focused on WATER!!!). I hope things improve.

NigellaAwesome · 17/09/2019 14:18

Hello all,

I'm fucking around at the minute and self sabotaging. I started to listen to my self sabotage hypnosis last night, and actually might go and listen to it now before the school run.

I'm about a week behind on the thread, so will catch up later. @ShagMeRiggins Flowers & Gin with soda water.

Does anyone know when the next bootcamp is starting?

ShagMeRiggins · 17/09/2019 14:48

You have a self sabotage hypnosis? Do tell! (And stop self sabotaging. There. You’ve been told.)

Rayna37 · 17/09/2019 15:34

{flowers} for Riggins

I've done pretty strict bootcamp for a whole week and lost a measly 2.2lbs. normally I'd be perfectly happy with that but not for the first week back on the wagon, in times gone by I'd have expected much more dramatic week 1 losses when a good bit over target! Still, KOKO. Suspect I may have to admit that while telling everyone weight loss is 90% diet, maybe the exercise is more important than I think. I just did one 5k run in the last week and not even any yoga. So, I need to get out there, if just for a couple of 30 minute runs even if I am trying to have a break from actively training for anything. I know I didn't lose any baby weight until I added exercise back in.

Also can I just scream DH is now working IN A BLOODY CAKE FACTORY

Mimosa1 · 18/09/2019 08:10

Omg @Rayna37 ! Maybe the cake factory will work as aversion therapy?! clutching st straws also it would make sense that you haven't lost a lot this week if you haven't got much to lose overall? Speaking of baby weight I'm now at the weight when I stiff I the scales the day after delivering DC - four years ago!!! Gah. Next mini goal - 76kg.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 18/09/2019 08:18

Morning all
Rayna37 cake factory !!! Are they nice ones ? I wonder if it would actually put you off eating cake if your surrounded by them.
Better day for me food wise, it definitely helps me if I plan what I’m going to eat and think about it rather than stumbling into food because I’m suddenly hungry.
Also managed to drink a lot more water yesterday and again that really helps me to stick to the plan.

colouringinpro · 18/09/2019 08:31

Cake factory would be my doom!!!

Bit constipated here! I know, more water.... anything I might be getting wrong?

NigellaAwesome · 18/09/2019 13:48

Shag it's on the app store - Chill Pill Hypnosis by James Holmes.

Rayna I suspect the fastest way to go off cake is to work in a cake factory. All those mass produced ingredients - always makes me feel a bit queasy when I see food processing plants on things like the Food Programme.

I knew someone years ago who worked at our local crisp factory. He wouldn't touch crisps and would tell gruesome stories about overgrown rats due to the UV lamps they use to stop the potatoes going brown.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/09/2019 14:39

Also can I just scream DH is now working IN A BLOODY CAKE FACTORY

I have two friends... one can't eat almonds, the other can't eat jam. Factory experiences when younger. They saw what... fell... in... Envy Get DH to tell you what falls in the batter. Make it up if he has to.
