Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

BIWI · 22/07/2019 08:23

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

Just checking in, great to see some new starters and restarters. Think I'll be on the BC starting next month as I'm currently 6lbs over target and having too many off plan meals and bloody office biscuits Lots of positives still (loads of great HFLC meals and drinking at a sensible level) but not quite LC enough to hit and stick at target. Definitely want to commit to a pre-Christmas effort or I'll go mad with the mince pies for 6 weeks or more like last year and that's no good!

Water
Coffee and cream

eggs cheddar tomato and butter
water

PLAN
Lamb and summer veg curry (hope it isn't too hot - I added a scotch-bonnet) served with Greek yogurt, coriander and buttery cabbage
rosehip tea
water

SittingontheSidelines · 04/09/2019 19:42

Lunch was cheese and tomatoes with kale crisps. I got a bit nervous with the kale after seriously incineration some roast veg yesterday so my crisps were a bit soggy. Nice though. I've been wanting to try them for ages.

Dinner roast veg with two fried eggs on top.

venusandmars · 04/09/2019 22:10

Confit Duck leg for tea...
With the 'confit juice' made into an amazing sauce (with added cream).
Plus a flgv...

YesQueen · 04/09/2019 22:17

Jolly Hog sausages for tea - really nice! I'm going to make cauliflower mash to have with the rest tomorrow

Mimosa1 · 05/09/2019 11:19

Full English breakfast for me this am in a local caf near DC's nursery (it's the settling in period at the start and i might have had to rush back but all seems to be going well). I love this time of year, everything feels full of possibility and new beginnings, much more so than dark and cold January anyhow, so I'm hoping it's a good time to tackle my woe. Up 400g today but still on the wagon. I find weighing daily is helpful even through the fluctuations. good luck all

YesQueen · 05/09/2019 11:39

@Mimosa1 me too, I use an app that gives me a graph Grin

Almahart · 05/09/2019 12:32

Just popping in to report that Pret has two salads, bang bang chicken and cauliflower salmon - 5.5 & 5.9 carbs per 100g (might have got them wrong way round)

I had the chicken one it was delish - salmon one a bit pricey for a work lunch think it was £6.50

Fabularse birthday. Our best friends took us, as a surprise, to Sat Bains restaurant in Nottingham - a 10 course tasting menu. Fuck me, how expensive that is! (And they paid Grin)

And DH is taking me to Barbados for a week, leaving on Monday.

I could happily turn 60 every week Grin

Not showing off, BIWI - sharing. And I'm delighted for you. Grin

SittingontheSidelines · 06/09/2019 00:39

That sounds fabulous @BIWI Enjoy!!!!

Today I ate

Egg wrap with marmite and leaves.

Sardines salad. It was delicious but a bit of a blunder, poured olive oil all over my carefully and bountifully prepared salad only to realise I'd picked up the balsamic vinegar by mistake. Reader, I ate it anyway

Oh and I might have had some water.

Hotdog19 · 06/09/2019 07:20

Hi low carb bootcampers! Can I start with you all today? I know the new bootcamp starts October, but got 4 stone to lose🙄😏 & eager to get going...famous last words!

Mimosa1 · 06/09/2019 07:29

Hi @Hotdog19 I started this week too. This thread will keep going in Between the boot camps. It just might be a bit slower (although doesn't seem to be at the mo Smile)

Hotdog19 · 06/09/2019 07:54

Hi @Mimosa1 Thank you! Had a practice yesterday, how does this sound (apart from the late night snack!🙄🤫☹️😩)
B: Two boiled eggs, 2 coffees with milk.
L: Can of tuna, pea-shoot salad, 1 egg, 1 avocado, 2tbs. mayo, salt.
D: soya mince, 1 tbs. olive oil, can of tomatoes, 2 tbs tomatoe puree, mushrooms & chilli powder served with raw spinach & cucumber & 3 plum tomatoes
Evening "snack": 100 g dairy milk bar! Argh!!! 🙄☹️ Bought after seeing chocolate advert, the power of advertising!
3 litres of water throughout the day. Please anyone feel free to comment, would love to hear your thoughts! Though hope your day ended better than mine!😱

1Wildheartsease · 06/09/2019 08:21

Welcome Hotdog!
Yesterday looks promising but wasn't quite boot camp Smile.

LCHF isn't something you can do and deviate from.

High carbs on your menu were :
-chocolate (have a few square of 85% dark choc instead)
-tomatoes and tomato purée (moderation required! When using tins/packets aim for ones with no more than 3g carbs per 100g )
-milk in coffee (use double cream)

  • soya mince looks high but rules are different for vegetarians so you need to check this.

I am no expert- BIWI and Stuntnun explain best. However, as I understand it, When you eat sugary chocolate etc. etc. your body goes right back to using - and demanding carbs. (Scales go mad/ carb flu)

Low carb eating is about not having carbs available in the body but offering lots of good fats instead. When you do this your body seems to register that there is plenty of food about but finds it easier to burn body fat.

The information at the bottom of the spreadsheet (link is in the first post from BIWI) is really useful on what you can or can't eat . There is s plan for vegetarians.

It seems tricky at first but soon gets easier.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/09/2019 10:43

Ok, I can scarcely believe it but...I appear to now be a size 8-10.

I've never been a size 8. Shock

BIWI · 06/09/2019 12:18

That's brilliant! Flowers

I think the nicest words I've ever uttered were in the M&S changing rooms, when I had to ask the assistant "do you have these in a size 8?" Grin

biwi your birthday sounds amazing. Enjoy Barbados!

Hi to the other new starters who can’t wait for boot camp to start - I did the same two weeks ago.

Has anyone tried any of the new (I think) tip tree mayos? The herb one isn’t that great. Takes like tartare sauce, makes me want chip shop fish and chips. It seems too low in carbs for mayo too - not sure the info is correct. Something like 0.3 per hundred grams.

Was meant to be having sausages and celeriac mash for dinner tonight, but I forgot to get the sausages out of the freezer. Might treat myself to a nice steak instead.
