Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

B Egg butter coffee
Water
L Smoked mackerel with shredded cabbage lettuce shallots and mustard mayo
Water
D courgetti +cream and cheese sauce with roasted broccoli and smoked salmon
Water
Rosehip tea

YesQueen · 28/08/2019 08:40

Still at my lowest weight so far. I'm using weight diary light app if anyone else likes to track daily, it does you a graph and averages I like stats
B - egg mayo when I get to work
L - goats cheese salad
T - same as yesterday as meatballs need eating!

Cauliflowerpower · 28/08/2019 12:32

So new scales have me at 18.5.... (spiteful buggers) and not near 15 like the broken ones say. I knew it wasn't true as clothes would be looser (however I did like it!!!) Never mind it's a number which can be lowered and I'm dreadfully swollen at the mo. So some of its fluid. I wasn't swollen during bootcamp.

Right

B - sausage and bacon
L- selection of meats and cheese and loads of salad
D- cheeseburger casserole again. With courgette and stuff.....

Omg cheeseburger casserole was great. Just needs a bit more herb/spice to jazz it up but a winner. Dh liked it too!

Water water water :)

venusandmars · 28/08/2019 13:22

Ooh wildheartsease (love wild pansy btw) I'd forgotten about mackerel... and your courgetti cream and smoked salmon sounds delicious. Both on my list for the next few days. That's what I love about this thread :)

B - butter coffee
L - fried egg, mushroom
D - Mexican tacos (without the taco) so chilli minced beef, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes, cheese

SummerSazz · 28/08/2019 13:29

Sloping back in after a horrendous couple of months with my mum being ill and then passing away. 2 holidays on top of that and I'm 1/2 stone over my lowest weight this year when I was properly low carbing and exercising lots.

So, back to it now. Been good food wise for 2 days, no alcohol and Pilates in the morning so feeling a bit more back into the zone which is good Smile

I'll keep checking in here to keep on the straight and narrow and would ideally like a stone off by Xmas but will take the 1/2 stone to get me back to the 10's and just into the 'healthy' BMI

Feels good to be back 💪

venusandmars · 28/08/2019 13:30

cauliflower just go from the current number, and believe in it.

I'm wondering if you're eating quite a lot of processed meat. My balance is generally more veg, (and eggs) with a bit of meat / fish (mostly not processed). You might be retaining water because of the salt / processed foods?

Cauliflowerpower · 28/08/2019 14:21

Yep - I'll shed more water/fluid as I get fat burning again. and yes its just a number (although a mean one!!! :) ) I will be doing an egg "muffin" style breakfast or yogurt going forward but working through what we have as I know that's a bit too processed.

I know the water retention is from carbs, heat, arthritis (not helped by eating rubbish) and being FAT (see again - not helped by eating rubbish)... So should have a good loss this week! I did in the first week of BC and hoping to carry on the good work.

Cauliflowerpower · 28/08/2019 14:23

@SummerSazz sorry to hear about your mum. Flowers

Cauliflowerpower · 28/08/2019 15:15

@BIWI Oh and am I going mad? Just went to look at the chicken recipe thread and can't see it...

BIWI · 28/08/2019 15:17

On no! Sometimes they lose their sticky, for some reason. I'll go and have a look

BIWI · 28/08/2019 15:20

@Cauliflowerpower the thread is still there, on page one, but it has lost its sticky. I've asked MNHQ to reinstate. Thanks for letting me know!

Glad the chicken thread is still there. I find our recipe threads inspirational. They distract from what you can't eat by offering so many interesting choices that you'd like to try :) .

1Wildheartsease · 28/08/2019 18:24

SummerSazz - so sorry to hear about your mum. You have done really well in only putting on 7lb in these circumstances. You will soon put those away again.

Cauliflowerpower · 28/08/2019 19:18

Found it now@ thanks. I have since chicken thighs for tomorrow!

8Track · 28/08/2019 19:58

Slinking back in as I was awol although have stuck firmly to this despite copious offers of ice lollies, cold beer and cider and seaside chips over the past week!!

I've been weighing daily and was gutted to find I'd put on 2.1kg overnight at the start of the week!! Never weighed daily before, and always felt quite bloated with a period due but BLIMEY! Dr Google says it's within norms, although I had 48 hours of grumpiness when I thought I'd put loads on.

Back to my loss now, although not lost any more yet. I know last week I didn't drink enough water so am keep on top of it this week (and am working in a much nicer office so can actually actual cess water!).

I've got some work exam results on friday so am scheduling in off plan foods and drink - whatever the results I'll consume far too many alcohol carbs so am going to have whatever I fancy for dinner. It may ironically end up being steak steak and peppercorn sauce though!

SummerSazz · 28/08/2019 21:21

Thanks @Cauliflowerpower and @1Wildheartsease, it's certainly been a rollercoaster....

Greek yog for breakfast chicken, halloumi and mayo salad for lunch and ham with cauli cheese for dinner. Keep forgetting the water which was key on my last bootcamp along with 16:8 fasting

Menus planned for tomorrow so am feeling very positive and not tempted to reach for booze which has been a lot bit of a crutch recently.

princessbear80 · 28/08/2019 22:13

Thanks for the welcome —back— BIWI

I’ve tried rtft but don’t have enough time so I’m just going to jump in here. Read the first 13 pages. Some great photos and food ideas.

I’ve now done two days. First mini goal is to stick to this for the two week boot camp, then next goal is half a stone.

My food so far (I hadn’t planned to start yesterday, so not much variety yet)

B (both days) - chunk of cheddar and tomatoes
L (both days) - salad with chicken, bacon and mayo.
D yesterday was smocked mackerel salad, and today was celeriac chips.
Loads of water!

Must get meal planning and shopping.

princessbear80 · 28/08/2019 22:14

yasqueen that meatball meal looked great, I’m going to do something similar either tomorrow or Friday.

SummerSazz · 29/08/2019 08:46

Pilates done this morning and ff yoghurt for breakfast - aim is to get back to 16:8 as soon as I can but am still hungry in the mornings at the moment so that will have to wait!

Good luck tomorrow with the exam results @8Track 🍀

💦💧 💦💧💦💧💦💧💦💧💦💧💦

Keep drinking!!!

venusandmars · 29/08/2019 09:37

Just logging today's food plan

B - butter coffee
L - tuna salad
D - omelette with cheese, mushroom, spinach; then rhubarb fool

Cauliflowerpower · 29/08/2019 10:15

Feeling so tired... Can't wait for this to shift.

I've done 2 full days, surely should be a size 10 by now?

B - bacon + sausage
L - salad
D - Chicken thigh recipe - and roasted veggies of some description

Must go fill up my water bottle - I've only had x2 coffees so far...

I must try the butter coffee... I find the idea offputting but I committ to trying it... Maybe Saturday though... :)

Have a good day LCHF-ers! :D

venusandmars · 29/08/2019 14:11

Cauli the first few times I tried butter coffee I was out / away from home, was low on dietary fats and I just put a lump of butter in my coffee cup (much to the astonishment of my dining companions!!). Tbh it was just like a sort of greasy coffee, and I didn't know how people could drink it out of choice.

Then I read the instructions and now I add hot, strong filter coffee to a big knob of butter (and sometimes MCT, and sometimes double cream). Blend with a hand held stick blender. It is completely different - creamy, frothy. I honestly wouldn't know it had butter in it.

Try a small cup first.

It really fills me up, has no carbs, is great if I'm doing intermittent fasting, and helps to balance out a meal that has less fat (and usually more protein and carbs from veg).

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/08/2019 14:57

I've had butter coffee before runs, I don't really bother at other times. But the caffeine plus fat really works. I must try that again because my running has been a bit blah recently.

I'm hovering tantalisingly close to a mini goal. If I just watch the alcohol, dairy, hidden sugar (ribs this week) and tomato, I could be there in three days. I will probably be there in two weeks! Slow and steady. As @1Wildheartsease you said, if I'm too strict it feels like work then I slip. Better to have a rib and wait a week.

Rshard · 29/08/2019 15:24

Have just caught up with the thread following my holiday to the land of the carbs, which I did consume and enjoy, but back to it as of today. So lovely to see that the thread has been so busy and some newcomers!

After reading about the M&S bang bang chicken salad upthread, I popped for one at lunch, bit pricy but so good - thanks for the recommendation! Spotted a reduced swede so we’re having cottage pie for dinner.

So today’s food
B - Greek yoghurt, black coffee
L - aforementioned salad
D - hm cottage pie, broccoli and cabbage

All the water!

1Wildheartsease · 29/08/2019 16:02

I was just the same about butter coffee. It took me ages to try it - because it sounded revolting! However it is great for adding fat and really satisfying. (I still like cream best but now tend use that as a treat/dessert!)

FIRST TIME METHOD:

  1. I think of unsalted butter as cream
  2. Put soft 'cream' in a cup and add just enough hot filter-coffee to melt it and provide something to mix.
  3. Wizz with stick blender until satisfyingly frothy.
  4. Add the remaining coffee to fill the cup.
  5. Imagine a sprinkle of choc on top of the froth :) and drink.

I really enjoy it now and sometimes even add MCT oil. My son prefers coffee made with coconut oil - for the extra flavour. I'm still working on that one... it sounds a bit revolting.
