Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

That swede bake sounds good venusandmars!

Welcome sitlux - I agree about doing the 2 weeks of bootcamp. Applying the rules is an education in itself but it has a great effect on weight loss too.

Writing the butter chicken recipe here (don't know how to put it on the recipe threads - can work that out later...)

Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani)

Chicken marinade
800g chicken thighs / drumsticks
200g yogurt
tbsp. minced ginger
tbsp. minced garlic
tsp garam masala
tsp ground cumin
tsp turmeric
salt
chopped red chilli

mix chicken with all the ingredients and marinate for 3-24 hours
Cook the chicken pieces - either fry in a pan or in the oven.
Dissect the chicken into bite sized pieces.
(keep the cooking pan for making the sauce)

Butter Chicken Sauce
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion / shallots
1 tbsp. minced garlic
I tbsp. minced ginger
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp garam masala
I tsp ground coriander
0.5 tsp ground fenugreek
400g can chopped tomatoes
1 chopped red chilli
salt
300ml double cream

Add oil and half the butter to the chicken cooking pan...
cook the onions gently
Add the garlic and ginger (ooh the smell)
Add the spices (ooh, an even better smell)
After about 10 minutes add the tomatoes, chilli, salt.
Simmer for 15 minutes until the sauces thicken and is a deep red colour
Blend in a blender
Add cream and the rest of the butter
Add chopped chicken

Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with spiced cauliflower rice.

I think I managed to copy the curry recipe onto the recipe thread for you venusandmars

Notlostjustexploring · 11/08/2019 22:44

I'm kinda drooling just reading that, and I swear I can smell it.

Notlostjustexploring · 11/08/2019 22:47

Seeking a sauce inspiration. I've got two chicken breasts in the fridge that have been cooked with some fajita spice. I fancy chopping it up and serving with some sort of creamy sauce. Anyone have any go to staples?

8Track · 11/08/2019 23:12

NotJust I've seen someone post an idea for brocolli cheese with the stalks blended in which could be fab - in a sort of blue cheese sauce and spicy chicken way?

Or with sour cream, roast veg and cheese?

Tomorrow's meal plan (please send Big Sticks / advice etc as I'm very new! ):

B - black coffee at home
On the way to work - buy cream tub for work coffee!
B properly - coffee with cream; avocado and cottage cheese with black pepper
L - thai spiced swede soup with crackling if I fancy fancy a crunch
D - omelette with leftover bratwurst, cheese and mushrooms, with cabbage.

Good morning. This week, while sticking to boot camp food as much as possible I've been trying to stick to 800 cals having read the blood sugar diet book. Just a temporary measure, mainly because I know I eat too much, so to get me used to much smaller portions, a reset. I've been mainly fasting 8/16 as well. Anyway I'm 5pounds down so will keep going a other week. It was easier than I expected but will return to Bootcamp shortly.

Rshard · 12/08/2019 12:05

Sliding back in and waving to everyone. Haven’t completely fallen off the wagon but not been perfect either. Struggle a bit when I’m out of my usual routine but determined to be good until we go on holiday on 22/08.

I see that folks are logging food, going to do the same for some accountability
B - eggs and avo
L - salad, ham, cheese, mayo
D - Boursin stuffed chicken with broccoli and side salad

1stMrsF · 12/08/2019 18:03

Hello

I wanted to thank you all for your help over the past few weeks but I'm bowing out of this thread now. Finding this WOE too restrictive for me.

Wishing you all all the best!

And thanks again 😊

venusandmars · 12/08/2019 21:40

That's a pity tea I suppose we all find out own way of eating that works for us, our tastes and our lifestyles. For me this is perfect. I'm lucky that I love green vegetables, butter, eggs, steak...

I think there's a new bootcamp starting in the autumn. You might want to pop in then when there are lots of new people starting together..? Hope you find something that suits you.

1Wildheartsease · 12/08/2019 21:50

Accidently did pilates today (it replaced my much loved yoga class). Wasn't too bad.

YesQueen · 12/08/2019 23:21

I had a horrific day and my horse was found passed away in her field. The least said about today's food the better, it was mostly tears and coffee

1stMrsF · 12/08/2019 23:29

@YesQueen I'm so sorry Thanks

NigellaAwesome · 12/08/2019 23:38

Gin and Flowers @YesQueen. I'm so sorry to hear this.

1Wildheartsease · 12/08/2019 23:59

Oh no - that is terrible @YesQueen - so sorry.

Rshard · 13/08/2019 07:25

So sorry to hear about your horse yesqueen Flowers

1stMrsF · 13/08/2019 07:54

Ocado has just delivered the avocados that made up part of my dinner plans and they aren't ripe #firstworldproblems.

Lunch today will be a curried root veg soup. Bit carby but I'm trying to empty the freezer of stuff I'd put in there before I discovered this woe. I'll add some spinach to help balance the veg types and some cream to up the fat content.

WATER WATER WATER 💦

Notlostjustexploring · 13/08/2019 09:00

YesQueen I'm so sorry to hear about your horse. That must be very hard. I don't have a horse, but I have family who do and I get the impression that a horse is never, "just a horse".Flowers

VeryLittleOwl · 13/08/2019 09:07

YesQueen - so sorry to hear about your horse :( Flowers We had the same yesterday with an old pet ewe, who we found dead in the field yesterday morning. I was away, and DH had buried her before he saw my message that said she's too big to bury, I'll call the fallen stock people (I live in one of the few parts of the country where on-farm burial is still legal).

Despite a big slice of birthday cake, I've somehow managed to lose 2lbs since Friday and have come home at 10st 6lbs. It's a shorts picture morning and I'll admit that I had to lie down to get them zipped, but they are on and zipped up! Going to enjoy a carb fest wood-fired pizza at Mum's birthday meal out tonight and then straight back on it tomorrow.

Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!
BIWI · 13/08/2019 09:11

Sorry that this isn't working for you @tea69. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

And very, very sorry to hear your news @YesQueen Sad

... but in other news, I won a bottle of gin from MNHQ/Silent Pool.

I was offered the option of a bottle of Silent Pool gin or a Silent Pool candle. Well, is the pope and all that Grin

Thank you to all those who nominated me. I really appreciate it. Flowers
