Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

This woe obviously not Thai!

1Wildheartsease · 08/08/2019 20:01

I have addressed my (weekend only) love of a G&T by ditching the tonic. :)
Soda water is lovely... if diluted with gin (and lime and ice)

1stMrsF · 08/08/2019 23:38

@1Wildheartsease I have wondered about that. You have inspired me to try it, I have nice fresh limes which will help.

YesQueen · 09/08/2019 07:54

Made a really nice lunch. M&S rollito things, tuna pate, cucumber etc etc
Got to work and I've brought the wrong tub Hmm so I now have 9 meatballs for lunch. Just meatballs SadConfused

tea69 · 09/08/2019 09:32

I'm still here!

Everyone's meals sound delicious 😋

I've got a big birthday weekend coming up but as I'm hosting I can control it.

venusandmars · 09/08/2019 10:00

Happy birthday for the weekend tea69

B - scrambled eggs, crispy pancetta
L - spinach and garlic soup
D - tuna nicoise salad

NigellaAwesome · 09/08/2019 13:36

Happy birthday for the weekend Tea69.

I got down to my interim target of 85kg this morning, and I am absolutely delighted. That's 17.4kg lost (38 pounds). Next target is 80kg, with a mini celebration at 84kg which will equal 40 pounds lost, and another at 83kg which will be 3 stone lost.

I like to use pounds and kgs interchangeably, so that I have more milestones.

Keep going everyone. I think lots of folk may be on hols at the moment.

1stMrsF · 09/08/2019 14:02

Well done @NigellaAwesome I also like to mix up milestones- lbs or LG's list, lowest weight achieved and percentage weight lost. It's good to keep celebrating each time! KOKO!

B creamy coffee
L scrambled eggs, avocado and smoked salmon
D still pondering....

1Wildheartsease · 09/08/2019 18:38

B 1 litre water

L: scrambled eggs and butter coffee
1 litre water

SittingontheSidelines · 09/08/2019 20:11

@YesQueen I hope you enjoyed your meatballs, Grin

Happy Birthday for the weekend @tea69

I've had

Breakfast almond milk latte
Lunch cheese salad
Dinner salmon fish cake (tinned salmon mixed with onion and egg and fried) cauliflower green beans baby sweet corn.

YesQueen · 09/08/2019 20:59

@SittingontheSidelines I was a carby idiot and fell off the wagon. Felt like crap all afternoon which serves me right
We have nothing at work or close by apart from a vending machine. Just teaches me I'm fine with this WOE if I prep well

Tuna pate with cucumber for tea, more water and back to it Smile

SittingontheSidelines · 09/08/2019 21:48

Yes I agree. Preparation and water (water water). Glad you're back on it now.

YesQueen · 09/08/2019 21:59

I prefer this WOE. It's so easy to just eat your cereal for breakfast and sandwich for lunch and pasta for tea and then realise I haven't eaten any veg at all

This way forces me to eat more veg, and I've found I love cabbage and leeks together. Plus cheese and cream and crispy bacon and Parmesan and.. GrinGrin

Notlostjustexploring · 10/08/2019 14:49

I'm still here, mostly. I was at my parents last week and basically wrote last week off. So reading but not posting.

Despite not actually managing to stick to this WOE to the letter, therefore losing no weight over the last couple of months, I think my tolerance to sugar has changed. I comparatively overindulged last week with particularly sugary things. Nothing compared to my eating habits of my youth. Oh boy did I feel ill. Not dissimilar to overindulging in alcohol actually.

Today I've had cottage pie mix sans topping with a side of roasted broccoli (why I hadn't had this before I don't know, food of the gods!!)

Planning scrambled egg with buttery mushrooms and smoked salmon for dinner.

SittingontheSidelines · 10/08/2019 19:55

Lunch olives and salad
Dinner same as yesterday but fried cabbage instead of cauliflower.

1Wildheartsease · 11/08/2019 00:11

eggs and coffee with cream
water
spinach soup and red wine
water
cottage pie topped with cauli/parmesan (everyone love it - none left for tomorrow :) more red wine )
rose-hip tea

8Track · 11/08/2019 12:24

I've been reading and not posting since your lovely welcome to me - taken me a couple of weeks since some work exams to feel in the right headspace for this. I'm actually really looking forward to it Smile

Shopping order being delivered tonight, most of its attached here. Have a whole week of being office based so I can get into into a routine - is something like miso soup a possible idea to stave off feeling carb flu-ey?

Can't believe I'm looking forward to not drinking booze as well - this definitely tells me it's the right time to start!

8Track · 11/08/2019 12:32

Ooops actually now attached!

Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!
venusandmars · 11/08/2019 12:58

We had a great home-made curry night yesterday. And today I've made a big pot of curried cauliflower and chicken soup. Just right for this miserable weather!

8Track · 11/08/2019 14:03

Sounds delish! I've got a swede that needs using up - I'm thinking soup for lunches this week.

Did you just chuck some curry powder in venus, or more fancy than that?

venusandmars · 11/08/2019 15:42

Last night we had butter chicken, and paneer mutter (cheese and peas). Today I made stock from the bones from the thighs / drumsticks, added cauliflower and the leftover curries, blended. Yum, yum, yum.

I make a swede / onion / / cabbage / cheese bake:

Slice the swede (turnip in Scotland) and parboil for a couple of minutes. Slice shallots and saute in butter (lots of butter), mix the buttery onion and swede with sliced cabbage (or kale), and grated cheese. Mix it all together and bake in the oven. It is delicious on its own or you can have it with chicken or ham.

sitlux · 11/08/2019 15:55

Hi everyone, it looks like this thread is still active and while I haven't been part of it, I've been low-carbing since mid April and lost almost 12kg. Would still like to lose 3 kg (ideally by end of August) and I seem to have hit a plateau, although I'm still lc-ing. Here for recipe ideas and motivation.

Today's menu:
B - black coffee
L - omelette with mushrooms, cheese and spinach
D (plan) smoked mackerel and salad (baby spinach, radishes, red pepper, tomatoes, spring onions, cucumber) with olive oil and balsamic vinegar

Just realised how ignorant I still am with regards to lc, never knew that almond milk was no carb and that I could still do lattes...

SittingontheSidelines · 11/08/2019 16:00

For today. Lunch was just a snack of olives
Dinner roast chicken with dressed salad (leaves, cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber, celery, avocado, olives)

Notlostjustexploring · 11/08/2019 20:07

Venus is your butter chicken recipe on the recipe thread? I love butter chicken when I'm out and to do a good version at home would be amazing!! Also, I'll be trying your swede/shallot/cabbage bake!

Dinner is fajitas minus the wraps. I do miss the wraps, but it's pretty tasty!!

Sitlux welcome! If you are plateauing, I would suggest following BIWIs bootcamp to the letter for the fortnight. It's strict but it's quite good.

1Wildheartsease · 11/08/2019 21:16

4lb down on scales this am. Yippeeeee! Not sure I trust them but will take this chance to celebrate.

I have been stricter about dairy and eating (comfort) snacks between meals but mainly very strict about water.

B tea
L HUGE! roast pork and celeriac - cauliflower cheese - broccoli and kale - cheeseboard and red wine
D redbush tea - perhaps eggs but really full.
+3 litres water during the day
