Starting tomorrow's thread early as I'm not around in the morning

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So far there seem to be some great results already, so I'm hoping they've continued over the weekend.

I love this week because the first weigh-ins are often spectacular, but also all those who were less than convinced are amazed how much they've lost!

It really sounds to me like people have really got to grips with this WOE, which is fantastic.

Here's to you all, and wishing you a good result on the scales tomorrow. (Or with the tape measure or the clothes you're trying on, if that's your preferred method of monitoring progress!)

Pity poor Greebo, who is currently making her DH a birthday cake that she cannot have even one single solitary crumb of...Sad

I genuinely don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I usually make an exception for my own baking because, well, it's delicious. Not today though! I shall be strong and KOKO. Grin

Ninkaninus · 25/05/2019 08:35

I empathise and sympathise Greebo - I made a carrot and walnut cake with mascarpone icing for my OH last week. I stayed strong and so will you!

ChippingInLowCarbing · 25/05/2019 08:35

Greebols 🌷 assuring you, reminds me, to just have faith & not get frustrated when I’m not losing weight, which I haven’t yet! I’m loving hearing about your show and keeping my fingers crossed they spot the slim maid who would be perfect for some fabulous part you’d love!

Waswittyonce thanks 🌷because the appointments take so long to get with the NHS I think it’s going to take a while to sort out the knee (hip/ankle). But I have an Orthopedic Consultant appointment mid June with a woman who is supposed to be brilliant, so hopefully that’ll be a good start.
My Dr has ordered blood tests for a number of things, so need to get that sorted. Mix in this WOE & hopefully it’ll all come right. I’m away for work and the bed is killing my back/neck, so the headache could well be that. I might get some electrolytes anyway today.

Maybe you need a sign to put on the door ‘Yoga In progress’ 🤣

How are you doing today?

TheWaiting. Come on, back up on the wagon! Sometimes we need to learn (or re re re learn 🙄 a lesson), hopefully this lesson will stick. Write down how you felt after you had the pizza, read it next time you’re tempted. As someone else said, look at both weeks together, you’ve done well and as others have said, you need to look at the overall trend.

youwanapizzame. Your dinner would have been much nicer than delivered Nando’s. If you get tempted to go there for dinner, be really careful. Some of their sides sound like they’d be good, but they’re REALLY high in carbs. Some bits are ok though. (I looked online last night, I haven’t eaten there in years).

VeryLittleOwl. Sorry you’re having an unpleasant time adjusting. It only affects me a little bit (I think being vegetarian helps) it trashes my nice ‘once a day first thing’ routine and I ‘go’ again in the middle of the day which is inconvenient. Meat takes much longer to digest, so if the veg are sitting on top of meat they will fight to ‘get through’ & this can cause ‘explosions’. Are you eating a lot more meat than normal? Or a lot more veg? You could try having your salad/veg first and meat after. It’s why they say we should really eat fruit before a meal not after it.

Congratulations, considerations, hard Paddington bear stares etc as required to everyone else! 😊

My NSV which I was TOTALLY thrilled about (after the bloody scales not shifting) was my Blood Sugars being 5.7 (normal range) when I tested yesterday! I am thrilled, thankful, over joyed that this WOE allows me to control my blood sugars so I don’t have to take medication for my diabetes. (I still have a way to go as that’s only one reading, not ‘all the time’ but overall they’re down loads compared to before climbing back up on the wagon. I just need to learn how to STAY on it!).

1stMrsF · 25/05/2019 08:48

@Turnedouttoes at that sort of a place the pork scratchings might be home made as well. Mmmmmm

This is my second BC and I have now lost over 2st. There have been plenty of ups and downs, stalls and falls (off the wagon) but each time I KOKO. I'm in the car driving to France for half term. The last time we were doing this, I had packed the tiny number of clothes that still fit and felt so miserable about my size. This time I've got shorts and skinny jeans and new tops in a smaller size and I feel so much more confident.

This WOE does work - amazingly well. If you've made a slip up you won't have to go back to the beginning. You don't have to give up just because one meal was off plan - that's the old yo-yo diet mentality. Just get back on it next meal and drink all the water and you'll be fine.

I'm weighing in today for Monday as I won't step on the scales while away. Am going keep LC as much as possible (but can't say there won't be wine) and then onwards and downwards when I get back.

Have a great weekend everyone

Ninkaninus · 25/05/2019 08:48

Well done on that blood sugar reading Chipping!

I bet it feels amazing to be seeing concrete evidence that your health is 100% better on this lifestyle as opposed to off it.

When bootcamp is over I’ve decided I am going to start taking weekly readings as a way of loosely monitoring my bloods. I need to keep at it long term, and it’s so easy to succumb to carb creep (in my case more like leaping and striding!).

ChippingInLowCarbing · 25/05/2019 08:51

youwanapizzame

Errr I've said it before but does anyone get a feeling when they're losing weight? Like a tickling in the tummy? Add sometimes (usually when in bed) I feel it and think "ooooh I'm eating myself " weird I know...

Yep. Weird! 🤣.

I’ve never had that, no, I can’t decide whether I’m relieved or disappointed 🤣

Sitting I might have asked you last time you posted, I can’t remember - sorry. Have you recread the rules in case you missed something? Are you drinking at least 2 litres of water? Are you eating plenty of veg? I’d add a big leafy salad to your lunch for example.

As for TMI 🤣 this is MN, I don’t think there’s any such thing anymore. Certainly not on these threads in regard to bodily functions!

MrsBB. Excellent!! Well done 🎉

Greebo. How many DH’s do you have?

...because it’s surely not for this one?!

Oh, lovely, chocolate! Which one shall I have first? Ah, yes, wine! Do I want red or white?

?!?!

I’d be mixing concrete not cake! 🤣

I’m finding it hard enough to resist eating the strawberries & apples as I cut them up for the kids. Cake I’d made...wayyyy too much of a challenge, but I’m safe as it’s nit going to happen!

Ninkaninus · 25/05/2019 08:53

I get that funny fat dissolving feeling too.

MrsBertBibby · 25/05/2019 08:55

That's fantastic, Chipping!

ChippingInLowCarbing · 25/05/2019 09:08

1stMrsF. That’s lovely that you’re feeling so much more confident. I hope you have a lovely week in France, wish I was coming with you!

Nink. Thanks 🌷The thing is I know it works. 7 years now I’ve known it works. I’m just stupidly unable to stay on the wagon and I go from LC to Carby Twat over night, no such thing as moderation. I’m like the kid who is never allowed sweets then gets pocket money and walks home from school via the sweet shop... 🙄. As a non egg eating vegetarian I find really hard, it’s fine at first but I get bored with such a limited range of food & it kills my social life. There’s also a lot of other baggage, BUT I need to find a way of doing it, because it’s this or medication. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ChippingInLowCarbing · 25/05/2019 09:09

Thanks MrsBB 😊

TheWaiting · 25/05/2019 09:50

Thanks @venusandmars! You’re right! Back on the horse today and even more motivated. Your graph looks fab! I’m realising that it won’t be linear but to keep at it to see results. Thank you

TheWaiting · 25/05/2019 09:53

Have a great holiday @1stMrsF! That feeling of fitting into smaller clothes and feeling happier with myself is what’s motivating me to pick myself up this morning and get back on plan.

venusandmars · 25/05/2019 09:55

Busy day, but food all planned out (that's one of the things I love about this woe)

B - mushrooms fried in butter, egg, fried salami
L - avocado, cheese, salad
D - confit duck leg, broccoli, leeks

VeryLittleOwl · 25/05/2019 10:14

Venus - thank you, I shall be patient a bit longer :)

ChippingIn - always veggies/salad first. Stems from when I was very little and would eat my meals in order from least-liked to most-liked, so get the vegetables out of the way, then eat the meat, then potato-fest at the end (especially if it was Sunday and it was roast potatoes covered in lots of gravy).

I think this is the fourth guest changeover day I've had since bootcamp started and yet again the leftover cookie dough has gone in the bin. Scales still stuck, but I definitely have PMT and since that normally means I put on 2-3lbs, staying the same is an improvement and I should start to see them move again in a few days.

prettybird · 25/05/2019 10:19

I'm going to struggle (again) with getting my veg in. Leaving late afternoon to go to Parkhead to support Glasgow Warriors in their Pro14 Final against Leinster. KO at 6.30, so it will probably be after 9 but the time we get back (hopefully including time for celebrations Wink. The concession food there will be a carb fest - so I'm going to have to resort to my "out and about" staple of Babybels and Pepperami Hmm

My radishes are now big enough to eat in my raised bed (had a few yesterday straight from the ground) - but I'd forgotten to sow a 2nd row 2 weeks ago. Blush Also have some cut and come again salad leaves that I can start cutting: the brassica (mizuna, pak choi etc) based one, which was sown later is ready before the lettuce based one.

1stMrsF · 25/05/2019 10:21

@ChippingInLowCarbing thank you Smilethat's brilliant about your blood sugars. One the excellent benefits of finding BC and then reading about LC is that I've been able to explain it to my mum who has now lost 1.5st and returned to prediabetic levels. She's still on medication, but a reduced dose and hoping to come off it entirely.
@TheWaiting thank you. It's a very motivating feeling, which is why I'm still going! I found this thread just before I started the last BC and it was very helpful with that
Brilliant benefits of carrying less weight. Mine are reduced chub rub (maybe by the time it's hot it won't be a problem at all?) and I'm also very excited about rollerblading on holiday this week. I did it anyway last time, but it should be easier and hopefully more elegant now!

m0therofdragons · 25/05/2019 10:22

Park run completed but god it was hard - hilly, lots of sheep poo and hot. Survived so will go and drink a gallon of water now and have a shower!

EatenAlltheEasterEggs · 25/05/2019 10:59

Bit of a day yesterday. Didn’t have breakfast and didn’t eat anything till about 2pm because I was busy.
L: 2 eggs fried in butter, mozzarella thin cheese slices x 3, salami x 3, coleslaw and Boursin
D: (at 10pm!) 2 x Broghies with various bits of leftover curries (chicken, lamb, spinach, cauliflower)
1 x vodka and slimline tonic which was bought for me at a function I attended which I could not refuse and was very nice.
The good thing was I came home and my partner, brandishing an open bottle of prosecco said ‘you drinking then?’ And I said ‘no’. Pleased that I didn’t do my usual ‘in for a Penny’ thing.

Scales are showing a further 1.5 pounds off. It really is noticeably slower this time but still downward.

Hoping for more regular meals this weekend and a further pound loss at least.

I’m in awe of you motherofdragons with your running!

FizzyPink · 25/05/2019 12:13

What does everyone buy from M&S? I’m struggling not having treats this weekend as I usually would and keep seeing M&S mentioned for snacks......what’s everyone buying?

Summery1 · 25/05/2019 12:36

Greebol & Ninkanius in awe that you could bake without tasting! I've not had cake since we started, but those lovely smells would really up the ante.

I've done a weigh, and I think I'm down a lb this week. I'm annoyed at myself to be disappointed at this, as it took me 7 months to lose 7lbs with SW. (Because I didn't stick to plan - SW works if you can stick to it). I love this plan.

I believe that as humans, we are, through evolution, programmed to eat as much as possible at every sitting. For millennia, food was scarce. Additionally a certain combination of carb and fat (I think it's 2:1,) is irresistible to us. Rats given unlimited amounts of cream OR sugar, did not get fat. Rats given unlimited amounts of icecream did.
Cakes, biscuits, pastry, milk chocolate, pavlova, chips, battered fried food, crisps, bread & butter - they just make me want more. But they're SO caloric. SW 'allow' these in moderation, but I don't do 'moderation'. It's easier for me to have none of these.

I'm just musing to myself, trying to stay motivated. Summery you can be slim or eat whatever you fancy. Not both.

I've had 1 or 2 awful meals this week. I did fried cauliflower rice. I used duck fat (from the back of the fridge) and then butter. It was greasy and unpleasant. With leftover chicken, it was a horrid meal. But I got better organised since, with lots of veg.

Anyway, with a little planning this WoE is healthy and manageable to me. There is delicious food that can be eaten (without measuring, yah), and food that is barred, that I struggle to moderate anyway. I've just had a fabulous cup of coffee with cream. Jeans are comfortable. Life is good!

Now to shift 1lb before Monday!

Summery1 · 25/05/2019 12:38

Turn pork scratchings I think for one. But don't eat tons of them.

felippertyfeck · 25/05/2019 13:00

Rayna37 · 25/05/2019 13:27

Well done on your parkrun m0ther mine was AWFUL. First run since my half last Sunday and honestly after the first few metres I felt like I'd just picked it up again after 13.1 miles! Dreadful. Got a stitch half way round too. Not sure if it's fuelling issues or just need to ease back into it.

Rayna37 · 25/05/2019 13:29

Turnedouttoes The deli 3 for £7 has some great bits: rollitos, marinated prawns, tasty chicken pieces.

FizzyPink · 25/05/2019 13:42

@rayner37 those sound excellent. Can’t say I’ve ever had a pork scratching actually so off to try some of those as well
