Morning all. Just a quick check in to see how everyone is getting on
Some great losses here - especially @DrBuckles!
The reason the losses are so great, especially if this is the first time you've moved into low carbing, is that as well as losing water, you will have used up the glycogen stores in your liver and muscles.
When you eat carbs, the body turns them into glucose which is used firstly for your immediate energy needs, secondly stored as glycogen for later usage - and fat when the glycogen stores are exceeded.
As well as water and glycogen you will also have burnt a little fat.
But what makes this diet different from a low calorie or low fat one is that other diets don't deal with the glycogen.
Of course, once you've used up the glycogen stores (and lost the water) you'll now start to move on to losing fat. But this will be at a lower rate than you've seen this week.
So @IStillMissBlockbuster what can you see from here on? Clearly it depends if you're following the rules or not!
Some people see their initial larger loss spread over two weeks, so if you haven't lost much this week don't despair!
Weeks 3 and 4 are notorious for seeing little or no loss, so be prepared for that. Your body is shifting from carb burning to fat burning, and from week 5 onwards, weight loss should resume.
If you haven't lost much or anything this week, have a look back over what you were eating and see if you can spot anything that might have impeded weight loss. Already I can see that some have identified that too much snacking, or too much dairy might be an issue. And certainly not enough water will also be something you need to deal with.
As @Almahart has done, go back to the rules and ask yourself honestly if you've been following those.
KOKO and hope that this week is a good one for us all
