Xin nian kuai le!

Happy Chinese New Year. We're in week 8, and 8 is considered a lucky number in Chinese, so hopefully this week will be a good one for us all Grin

Here's the spreadsheet

A very cold week is ahead of us, so hope you all stay warm and safe

Honestly, it will come - you just need to get through the first bit and then that "desperate" hunger seems to subside.

I will give you an example. I've had a busy day today - so far I've had:

Breakfast: creamy coffee
Lunch: none
Dinner: considering but not actually that hungry
Snacks: creamy coffee, babybel, 2 squares dark choc

I am honestly not that hungry, so I may finish chugging today's water rations and go to bed.

There will definitely be a week 9 thread! In fact I'm going to start it tonight, as I have to be up really early tomorrow morning.

Well I'm back on the wagon today after LidlRollGate.

B. Scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, avocado. Coffee with AM&C
L: Nothing much. Small slice of serrano ham
D: Roast chicken (with crispy skin) and celeriac & leek dauphinoise.
S: Another coffee and some macadamias

I can thoroughly recommend making the dauphinoise with leeks. I usually use shallots, but the leeks are divine with it, especially with lots of freshly grated nutmeg and a bay leaf. I made tonnes of the stuff >>greedy

Oh dear I am feeling v sad after tonight’s episode of Call the Midwife. Have finished off the bottle of wine I had for my birthday. Back on the straight and narrow tomorrow. Just have to stop sniffling now...Sad

SoMuchToBits · 04/03/2018 21:46

Been to rehearsal and concert today. Ds also playing in same concert. We took a packed lunch of chicken, bacon and avocado salad, but ds also had an apple and a chocolate brownie.

My friend sitting next to me kept offering me biscuits! But I declined. Didn't feel I needed one.

This evening have had pork tenderloin fried in butter with sage, mushrooms and cream/mustard sauce. Plus sprouts and butter.

Almahart · 04/03/2018 21:57

Fell TOTALLY off the wagon this evening

Feel like giving up Sad

Off to bed now. Back on it tomorrow I suppose

BlackMozart · 04/03/2018 22:08

I’m sure Almahart there are so many here who will understand that feeling. With 4 stone to go and not having lost for weeks I am one of them. But what I am holding on to is the advice on here many months ago that we can be trying to lose weight or not but either way the time will pass. So we might as well be trying.
With a good night/s sleep thing may look different in the morning.

Koko if you can.

My fridge is green once more ... sprouts, beans, kale, avocado, rocket & spinach were bought in abundance. We weren't badly affected by the snow but there was no way I was going out in it & stocks ran low. We had lots of meat in the freezer, just not as much veg to go with it as I thought. As I couldn't just at meat, I ended up having peas with one meal & raw carrots with another, previously two of my favourite foods. You know what, I wasn't that bothered to be eating them again. Likewise with the bit of apple & pear I had yesterday. It turns out I am more of a convert to this wOE than I had realised. I just need to stop the carb creep.

prettybird · 04/03/2018 22:28

Really struggled today (5 days of cabin fever so has run out of my normal low-carb snacks) but finished off with a lovely meal of pheasant (from the freezer) with Savoy cabbage and crispy bacon (the last two slices of back rather than streaky bacon used to bard the pheasant), celeriac Dauphinoise and brussels (again Blush) with lemon zest (inspired by comments on here). Ignore the two glasses of wine (purely for tasting purposes , you understand Wink)

Must go and drink more water.

Week 8 - Low Carb Bootcamp - lucky number for some!
ilovecherries · 04/03/2018 22:55

I'm fed up of bloody snow. There was no green veg in the supermarket AT ALL today. (No sausages, bread or milk either but that felt more manageable (selfish git). Did manage to get broccoli yesterday, but had eaten it. Decided we'd just need to use freezer veg and found a bag of cubed golden veg. Bloody HELL. 25 gms of carbs per small portion! The only other option was peas and sweet corn. So I had eggs instead for dinner, but that meant almost no carbs today, so now I'm itchy. Feeling grumpy, cross and fed up with everyone COUGHING their germs on me and leaving snotty hankies crumpled on the arms of chairs.

prettybird · 04/03/2018 23:04

I have also managed to have a Brexit rant today about if that is the impact that 4 days of bad weather has had, how the fuck will the UK cope with weeks of grid-locked border controls after a No-Deal or a Tariff Barrier Exit from the EU Sad

MumOfAPickle · 04/03/2018 23:26

Oh dear, sorry to hear people's troubles with getting food, it must be very frustrating. Sout East here so all our snow was washed away the day after it came - was like it never happened in less than 24 hours!
Tomorrow is a new day and a new week, chins up, fight the fuck its, you can all do this 😬

Food today:
B: none
L: bacon, eggs and buttered sprouts
D: beef chilli tacos (I had one very small soft taco and the rest just as the meat) with griddled courgette and salad. Had raspberries with 2 spoons of oppo ice cream for pudding
S: chicken wings

YoLoHogwomanay · 04/03/2018 23:34

I hear you prettybird. the future looks bleak. Your dinner however looks lush.

ilove I hope you manage to avoid the lurgy.

alma you will be fine. tomorrow is another day, according to Scarlett O'Hara anyway.

I've been stupidly chugging many more carbs than I usually do, though still low carb for anyone not on this WOE. I know it's the hormones (and stress) and I just don't seem able to fight it. My plan for next month is to NOT BUY THE CHOCOLATE in the first place. then its not here to be consumed.

The stress I'm under is a other thing. Carbs don't fix that so I will just get on with it like I usually do. I've decided that my menstrual indulgence in the chocolate is only for 2 days. plus I've now eaten all the chocolate so there isn't any more. I'm going to channel Scarlett now. I've packed my meals for tomorrow and am my usual super organised self. feeling back in control. And no, that is not a Brexit slogan!
