Xin nian kuai le!

Happy Chinese New Year. We're in week 8, and 8 is considered a lucky number in Chinese, so hopefully this week will be a good one for us all Grin

Here's the spreadsheet

A very cold week is ahead of us, so hope you all stay warm and safe

Well Happy Birthday to me! 54 today. I got on the scales feeling thinner and noooo I have put on a couple of pounds so that is just c**p.

On that basis I have said fuck it and have a fried egg, on low carb scone plus 2 chocolates for breakfast and not dark 85% either. Shock

On the bright side I have a lovely necklace, some marvellous odd socks and some books still, undelivered but on the way!!

Drastic action is going to be required so I am going to start intermittent fasting from Monday. Hoping to stay on here for support and kicks up the backside because on non fasting days I will be low carb it. Just hoping it will start to reverse my upward trend.

BlackMozart · 03/03/2018 09:51

Rayna that made me laugh!

Bluntness100 · 03/03/2018 10:02

I'm still feeling a little pissed off. I've went from "gosh I'm really losing weight"to " ffs how fat was I, how am I still not there yet".

I've no desire to stop of give in, just feeling pissed off with myself for putting weight on in the first place and mind bogglingly not really noticing. 😔

TerfsUp · 03/03/2018 10:18

Sorry you've had a bad week, BIWI. I hope next week is better for you.

And, not to ignore everyone else - koko!

BIWI · 03/03/2018 10:31

Also had to cancel our planned trip to Somerset to see BIL and MIL. Fabulous gastro pub/hotel, in the middle of the countryside. Said countryside and pub of course now unreachable because of snow ... Angry Sad

BIWI my sympathies. I missed out on two outings this week because of weather. But my birthday present books have now arrived, donkeys have been sorted and I am curling up with said books and a cuppa.

Twoo · 03/03/2018 12:45

Happy Birthday Black’. Flowers. Hope you have a great day and those around you spoil you !

abbey44 · 03/03/2018 12:48

Happy birthday Mozart - enjoy your day.

I've just got back from my fat-freezing session. Wow! It wasn't a bit how I expected....I'd expected pain, discomfort, bruising and got none of those. I can just feel all those stubborn little fat cells curling up and dying, just waiting to be flushed out over the next few weeks. She took some 'before' pictures (which look dire, but I'll be glad of them when it's time to do the 'after' pics) and said I had the perfect tummy for this. First time ever my jelly-like middle has been called perfect, I have to confess. But apparently, the squishier the fat, the easier it breaks down and hence the better the result.

It's a really odd sensation - first there's a gel-soaked cloth that goes on, and then the suction handles....they're a bit like an extended nozzle on a carpet cleaner, oblong, and they fit over the bit that's to be reduced. Then the suction is turned on and all the fat is sucked into the handles - it's amazing (and a bit horrifying) how much excess there is! - and the temperature goes down to -5. You don't actually feel anything other than a bit of tightness, a bit like you're wearing a snug elastic belt, certainly not an unpleasant feeling at all. You sit back, have a coffee, read a book and chill ( Grin ) for an hour while your flabby stuff is annihilated and then come home.

So now all I have to do is wait for it all to be flushed away....

Oh, and a massive morale boost this morning - saw an 11 on the scales for the first time - ok, it's 11.13, but you know, it's broken the 12 barrier. Made my day.

BerylStreep · 03/03/2018 13:04

Happy birthday Mozart!

Abbey that sounds really interesting. Can I ask how much it cost?

Yolo I buy my almond flour in big 1kg bags from the Asian supermarket. I think it costs about £8 for a bag, but lasts ages.

I fell off the wagon a bit last night. Had friends round and had some bhajis and samosas. I also had some oppi ice cream and a fair bit of fizzy wine (which I actually didn't like that much Shock). I just need to climb back on today and get on with it. Daren't weigh myself today.

BlackMozart · 03/03/2018 13:31

Aw thanks everyone! DB is coming over so I’ve taken some low carb brownies out of the freezer to keep me away from the naughty chocolates.

Abbey yes that does sound interesting. I’ll need to be a lot closer to goal before I consider something like that!

Anyone got any recommendations for a crepey throat/neck area? My face is ok but neck not so much. ☹️

abbey44 · 03/03/2018 13:39

Beryl - it was £200 for this session, and any subsequent ones (if I feel the area needs a bit more zapping) are £100. I know it's not cheap, but quite honestly, I'd do anything to get rid of my out-of-proportion tum!

abbey44 · 03/03/2018 13:47

Mozart - duct tape and a ponytail to hide it...? Grin

Rshard · 03/03/2018 14:08

Happy birthday blackmozart!

I’m also interested in preventing a crepey throat, I’ve been using a firming cream I got in my M&S beauty advent calendar which seems to be making a difference. But this is my fear as my mum’s is a bit turkey like - sorry mum!

Your procedure sounds fascinating abbey. I was looking at bikinis yesterday in a wistful way, so I’d be tempted to try something like that.

ilovecherries · 03/03/2018 15:40

Happy birthday, Mozart.

Still completely snowed in here (and poor husband similarly snowed in 200 miles away). I only came here (to the family house, DH and I are living away for a couple of years because of his work), because student daughter had big hospital appt she wanted support with. That was on Tuesday and still here, was only meant to be a flying visit. Trudged to the shops with a rucksack today, and basically bought what was available food-wise. So there will be some interesting concoctions.

Bluntness, I had a bit of a meltdown in December based around 'how could I have let this happen?' And 'I've lost 50 lbs (at that point) and I'm still not nearly there yet'. I felt quite despondent, furious at myself, and also really sad about it all.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 03/03/2018 15:51

Happy birthday BlackMozart hope you have a lovely day!

I've just made the chocolate brownies from that cookbook (with almond flour) - the texture on top looks a little different but hopefully they will hit the spot. I was very excited to be able to lick the spoon clean for once Grin

Abbey interesting to hear that the treatment didn't hurt per se - I've read up a bit on it for spot reduction and I'm not very good with pain... look forward to hearing about your progress. Price sounds good - think it is £400 where I am Shock

BIWI · 03/03/2018 16:03

Happy birthday @BlackMozart!

Happy Birthday, BlackMozart!

My anticipated BClite supper didn't come off after all, as I developed the most horrendous nausea, retching and stomach cramp mid-afternoon. It's passing off now, but still pretty queasy and can't face the idea of food or water - although there's some diarolyte in the cupboard I should probably dig out.

Still, it's a 26 hour fast, and counting, and that's supposed to be great for longevity Hmm

Twoo · 03/03/2018 16:09

I’d like to ask a question to all those ladies that have Tom Kerridge’s Dopamine Diet book. On pg 233 is a recipe for Cumberland sausage & onion gravy. It states it’s 38g of carbs per portion Shock. I think this is high for a ‘low carb’ recipe. Why is it so high in carbs? Can it be the onion in the gravy? (If I did it I’d replace with shallots anyway)

prettybird · 03/03/2018 16:30

Twoo -I've just looked at the recipe. Yes, onions rather than shallots will be adding to the carb count but the real culprit is the 100ml of balsamic vinegar Shock(which you then reduce to concentrate the sugar it Hmm) Confused Either try it without the balsamic vinegar and just use chicken stock (preferably home made) or use a small amount of apple or white wine vinegar.

Twoo · 03/03/2018 16:41

Thank you Pretty’ id totally overlooked the balsamic! Yes I will substitute it out if I do it. The book generally is quite good but a lot of the stuff still needs adapting to suit our woe.

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 03/03/2018 17:09

Twoo lots of his recipes are high ish carb, he states in the intro he stuck to

prettybird · 03/03/2018 17:20

He also uses a lot of "alternate" sweeteners. I'm ok with using them on occasion, I know that some people are concerned about the side effects of some of them (erythritol can cause problems with some people - although not for me; but inulin seems to have benefits as a prebiotic) and as a whole, I do think we need to be weaning ourselves off the regular "need" for sweet stuff. I think he puts erythritol into some things, at best, out of habit: eg the almond soda bread and even in some of his meat dishes, or at worst because he assumes that people (or he) can't re-educate their palates to not "need" that sweet edge.

Nan0second · 03/03/2018 17:54

Happy birthday blackmozart!
I missed the conversation about where the nice brownie recipe is... that sounds like something I’d like to try although I am mostly on boot camp proper rather than boot camp lite still...

ASDismynormality · 03/03/2018 18:25

Happy birthday @BlackMozart, hope you had a good day Flowers

BIWI · 03/03/2018 18:28

@Twoo I think Tom Kerridge was very lucky in that he was able to lose his weight probably eating a high level of carbs.

Men, unfortunately, tend to lose weight quicker than women do. Not really quite sure why.

I'm a bit dubious about some of his recipes, as they are relatively high carb, use a lot of processed ingredients (Bisto chicken gravy granules anyone? Hmm), and also artificial sweeteners.
