Hopefully some good results to report!

Pretty bird

That Amazon link doesn't work.

Is it the 13.99 stuff?

prettybird · 21/02/2018 20:33

It was £8.10.

I'll try the link again

Erythritol Natural Sweetener 1kg https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077V1RFCC?ref=yopopma_swf

@Plantlover

The thing is, when you eat carbs again, especially refined carbs like that, you're re-filling your glycogen stores - so it's not really fat that you're putting on.

The key to losing it is to get back on the low carb wagon as soon as you can, drink plenty of water, and up your level of exercise, and you should soon see it shift!

poster perpetuallybewildered - that happens a lot, which is why we tend to report NSVs (Non Scale Victories) as well as SVs. I mind, at one point last year, one friend, who hadn’t seen me for about a month, said she was amazed how much I’d lost in that time. She was gobsmacked when I replied that I’d maybe lost a couple of pounds, but no more. I’d lost noticeable inches, but the scales weren’t playing ball!

Just KOKO and you’ll get there.

Gammeldragz · 21/02/2018 21:58

rshard DD is fine, she'd had awful tummy pain for a week, so bad she was just down and whimpering all the time, couldn't sleep, painkillers not helping. Saw two GPS and out of hours and apart from giving buscopan for bowel spasm, no help at all. Took an xray to pick up bowel impaction as she'd been pooing every few days so thought that wasn't a problem. One suppositoriy and a dose of movicol and she's already much improved. It's been a trying week with her being on so much pain, plus other extended family shit going on, but I didn't resort to carbs (apart from a couple of cereal bars and southern fried chicken yesterday) as much as I could have. So, still feeling quite strong. Haven't done any work on my assignment though as head has been all over the place...

Food today
2 creamy coffees
Bag of smokehouse flavoured almonds (65g at

Plantlover · 21/02/2018 22:58

BIWI

So what do you do food wise? Do you ever eat refined carbs? Since I have never maintained after losing weight I need to know how I need to eat in the future.

BerylStreep · 21/02/2018 23:18

Well, have started eating again today, after what ended up a 44 hour fast. The fantastic news is that I'm back down to 92.4kg on the scales Grin.

Food for today:

B. Breakfast muffin. Creamy coffee and AM&C

L. Poached chicken, crunchy salad in hm mayo and coleslaw

S. Cheese and pecans. Coffee with AM&C

D. Shepherds pie with celeriac topping

Still off the booze, although tonight felt harder. Only a week left to go.

MumOfAPickle · 21/02/2018 23:41

Food today:
B: 2 x scrambled eggs with butter
L: leek, mushroom, bacon, caulk bake
D: bolognese sauce with salad
S: shitloads but all low carb. Feeling tired and coldy so snacking increased. Had smoked salmon pate with cucumber, a whole pack of roast beef slices, 2 x small squares of low carb choc

Can I ask what HM stands for please? I'm sure it's obvious but my befuddled brain just can't work it out Confused

abbey44 · 22/02/2018 00:45

HM - home made...?

YoLoHogwomanay · 22/02/2018 01:29

plantlover as I understand it, maintenance is a matter of trial and error. introducing small amounts of carbs and observing how it affects you to see what your tolerance levels are. there is a maintenance thread which you can go and read to see some of the previous bootcampers experiences in maintaining. some also do intermittent fasting as a way to maintain I think.

I'm sure the main thing is not to fall face first into all the bad food habits of the past which got you to your heaviest weight in the first place. BC is not just a 10 week fat blitz, it's a journey for many into understanding lifelong eating habits, how better to deal with emotions/stress/sleep problems/cravings/sugar addiction/alcohol reliance etc, and how to make huge life changes and learn how to take care of your body and mind better. Welcome, by the way!

I've got a long way to get there so I'll be worrying about maintenance when I'm nearer to goal. But mainly for me this WOE in one form or another is for life.

ragz hope your DD is ok now. sounds horrible for her.

Rshard · 22/02/2018 04:26

Glad your dd is in the mend ragz, sounds really stressful though so good for you for staying strong!

Yeah, home made abbey, I couldn’t be bothered to type it all out!

Blimey beryl, how did you feel at the end?

Almahart · 22/02/2018 07:56

I’m managing 12:8 at the moment and have nearly shifted my huge slip up over the weekend

I made a yummy crumble type thing yesterday by just frying ground almonds in butter and adding to berries and ff yoghurt. It sounds wierd but was really nice and totally hit the spot - I really wanted something with a cup of tea when I got in

BerylStreep · 22/02/2018 07:57

Rshard it felt fine. Not in the least hungry and probably could have gone on, but thought it best to eat.

Rshard · 22/02/2018 08:18

That’s good beryl!

Your ‘crumble’ sounds lovely alma. Might steal that idea!

Bluntness100 · 22/02/2018 08:34

Agree, you need to see this woe as for life to maintain, uou can introduce moderate amounts of carbs and then just reduce every now and again to maintain but it's really a lifestyle choice. You need to eat healthy.

I've maintained for years on it, I tend to fall off when something impacts me,,,moving house, changing job, stopping smoking, breaking my ankle and being sendentary and once I'm properly off it for a period, I pile weight back on because I revert to eating crap extensively with no discipline.

Bottom line is stuffing yourself with chocolate, pizza or cake is always going to make you pile on the pounds, but a healthy diet which is also moderately low carb, with occasional treats will keep you at your target weight.

It's really easy to fall back into old eating habits, it starts off slowly at first, and we need to accept that as those eating habits is what made us fat in the first place, and it's still going to make us fat if we do it again.

littleladylawyer · 22/02/2018 08:54

Beryl Shockat 44 hours! I think I would have passed out!

Hope everyone's having a good week. In terms of maintenance, I know that it's not realistic for me to say I'll never have some pizza, or chips, or a cake again, but I hope to keep these as occasional treats. I know they will lead to water retention so I think if I do have them they will need to be as an isolated treat and then straight back on the wagon.

I'm also playing about with small amounts of peas, beans and humous which don't seem to be affecting me too much, although I'm trying to keep the majority of my meals low carb. It's all a bit trial and error for me!

Destinysdaughter · 22/02/2018 09:21

I've been trying to make Southern fried chicken, using Parmesan and almond flour, but can't seem to find a way to make the coating stick to the skin, so it ends up with the coating being cooked, but the skin is still soggy! Does anyone know how to make this successfully?

prettybird · 22/02/2018 09:50

I make chicken nuggets using a mix of Parmesan, ground almonds and flaxseed (and generous seasoning and a pinch of salt).

I coat in egg and then dip in the mixture and then bake for c30 minutes. Dh and ds think that they're great - as good as, if not better than the Lidl Southern "crumbed" goujons Grin

I use pieces of skinless chicken breasts - never tried anything with skin. Would deep frying help get the crispiness you want? The other think you could try is marinating in yoghurt before adding the "crumb" coating, so that it sticks.

Rayna37 · 22/02/2018 10:10

You know one of the best things about this WoE? No crumbs. I have my parents staying, and crumbs on the side every time I turn around. Shock

StuntNun · 22/02/2018 10:26

Rshard a former Bootcamper created a wonderful low carb berry crumble recipe.

BumbleBeef30 · 22/02/2018 10:37

I’ve eaten practically no carbs since Monday. Yesterday I found that I had put on 1lb so I upped my fat and water intake. This morning I find that I’ve put on another pound! I don’t understand why. Am I eating too much, too little?

ShagMeRiggins · 22/02/2018 11:01

Destiny’s do you pat the chicken with paper towel beforehand?

Rshard that made me laugh. I am constantly wiping the millions of bagel and biscuit crumbs in our kitchen whilst simultaneously cursing the pesky Carbers I live with.

Bumblebeef why practically no carbs. What does that mean in real food terms? Can you give us a food menu?

As for the gain, it might just be a weird fluctuation. Those happen, they’re a real thing. Maybe you should just weigh weekly?

ShagMeRiggins · 22/02/2018 11:07

Sorry, the crumbs comment was to Rayna, not Rshard

Rshard · 22/02/2018 11:11

Thanks stuntnun, that recipe sounds delicious, I’ll definitely try it

YoLoHogwomanay · 22/02/2018 11:43

shagme i love the term "pesky Carbers". I think you've coined a new BC phrase. I get the crumb clear up every day in my house too. it's so annoying!

bumble don't stress about daily ups and downs. they are normal whatever you eat. you can fluctuate by 4 lbs or do each day up or down. it's usually not directly related to what you have eaten. just look at it across weeks or months. and chill!
