Morning all!

We have four weeks left; time, still, to lose at least another 4lbs or so

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hopefully some good results to report!

Well done to DS PrettyBird! A well deserved break for drybruary.

I'm hanging on to the fact there is just over a week to go for dry February. I had a piece of work that has been hanging over me for a year, and today I just thought I'd make a start. 4 hours of solid work and intense concentration later, and I got it finished. It was nowhere near as bad as I thought, and I'm sure the combination of this WOE and the lack of booze helped me to get it done. I feel very satisfied.

Athelstane I'm so sorry about your cat. Thanks

prettybird · 20/02/2018 19:46

Athelstane - is it kidney failure?

Our first Siamese male "crashed" when he was 9. The vet spent 2 days trying to rehydrate him to see if that would kick-start his kidneys again but he didn't respond, so we had him home for one last night (during which he - heartbreakingly - re-visited old haunts on wobbly legs Sad) before taking him back to the vets to be put to sleep Sad

Wow - so many posts to catch up on today!

Athelstane - so sorry to hear about your cat Flowers

prettybird and Rshard great reasons to be proud Smile

cherries - as ever, what you say in your post is so much more eloquently put than in mine, but yes, 59 was a wake-up call for me too, and the year since then has been overhauling so many aspects of my life. I'd hoped to reach my target weight by my birthday (last weekend of bootcamp) but five stones in five months was just a bit ambitious. Still, I'm well on the way, and so many old habits have been broken and replaced with good ones that I will get there. And my 60s will be better than my 50s, now I've got the hard stuff under my (quite a bit smaller) belt Smile

Grimbles · 20/02/2018 20:55

I got into size 14 trousers. They are still a tad too tight around the bum and lower stomach so I'm sticking with my 16s for the moment. But I got them on and done up no problem. Grin

Littleladylawyer

That's interesting to know!

Does anyone know which sweetners taste better than others?

Thanks in advance!

Plantlover · 20/02/2018 22:04

Whoinowswherethetimegoes

I bought a loaf of hi lo bread in Sainsburys today. It was reduced to £1 something. I think it has 5 carbs a slice.

Haven't tried it yet so I can't comment on how it tastes!

Does anyone know how many carbs are in lidls high protein rolls?

Athel sending good wishes and hugs at such a tough time 💐💐Congrats to the proud mums on those son’s and daughters successes and enjoy your glass of bubbly and red wine 🍾🍾
plantlover I have just started using erythitol (?) as a sweetener in puddings and most low carb books (Tom Kerridge, Sarah Flower etc) use this or Xylitol as a sugar substitute. This last one is very very bad even fatal to dogs I believe so no dropping bits of brownie on the floor if you have a dog. Stevia is also suggested but by the sound of it much trickier to use because it can leave an aftertaste if you use even a tiny bit too much and everyone has a different level of sweetness that they need. Too much trial and error and faff for me 😊
I say started using but in fact I am very nervous about making sweet things even with a substitute so in fact have only used it in a single helping of my emergency chocolate pud but it worked exactly like sugar and looks very similar. I am going to make some brownies this weekend and then put them in the freezer in small cubes immediately!
I will make the ones in Sarah Flower’s book. I’ve made a few things from there and I really like how they’ve turned out.

blackteaplease · 21/02/2018 11:05

[Hugs] for Athel . Sorry to hear about your cat. Don't disappear from the thread though, we are here to support each other.

Destinysdaughter · 21/02/2018 11:13

Athel that's so sad about your cat, I know I will be devastated when my lovely ball of fluff goes. I understand if you don't want to post for a while but will be thinking of you. Flowers

Re sweeteners, Splenda is 0.5 gm carbs per tablespoon and tastes perfectly fine. I've used it in cakes and puddings successfully.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/02/2018 11:21

Athel - another person sending you condolences. Hope you're doing as well as you can. xxx

Hit a new low this morning. It's amazing how much better BC works when you actually stick to the rules (sorry, BIWI!)! Am going to be uber strick for the next few days and hope I see a nice loss come Monday.
