L: lamb with spinach and cucumber
D: chicken thighs with cheesy celeriac chips (a lovely stodgy carb-like dinner which I needed as feeling poorly)

BerylStreep · 22/02/2018 23:31

Rshard · 23/02/2018 07:46

Morning all

Yesterday’s food
B - cheese omelette
L - tuna salad mayo
D - sausage casserole broccoli

Hope you enjoy the cooking/eating with JM abbey!

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 23/02/2018 08:55

Food yesterday.
B: poached eggs and fried chorizo
L: courgetti, pesto and halloumi
D: celeriac dauphinose and roasted duck leg.
I've hated celery and celeriac for years but cooked it loses that bitter celery taste and is wonderful! Who knew!
mimosa and plant i do keep a vague eye on calories as I stall if I go too high (and I'm nowhere near goal weight!)

YoLoHogwomanay · 23/02/2018 09:24

Just an observation, the thread has been a bit quiet this week compared to usual.

Usually means people are going off plan carbing it up .... Hmm

YoLoHogwomanay. Yesterday I had a 300ml tub of double cream, blueberries, a whole tub of chocolate Oppo and a lot of nuts - I guess your theory is correct!

prettybird · 23/02/2018 09:52

I've still been KOKO on HFLC - but have got back into some bad habits re snacking when not really hungry - even if they are HFLC snacks Blush

I've also not been drinking enough water Blush

this may have something to do with with I have put on a couple of pounds Blush although I do still seem to be losing inches Grin

YoLoHogwomanay · 23/02/2018 10:05

Grin @ confessions!

While we are at it, I made chocolate protein fat bombs this week. My God they are good. And I have eaten too many of them.

YoLoHogwomanay · 23/02/2018 10:09

But on a good note the following conversation took place at the vending machine:

DC: Mummy, would you like a chocolate bar from the machine? (obviously wanting it themselves)
Me: No thanks, mummy doesn't eat chocolate bars. (cue disbelieving looks from passers by as I am clearly a woman who loves her food)

On the positive side, I continue to find this WOE relatively easy and don't find myself craving rice, pasta, potatoes, chocolates and sweets. Halo

TheWayOfTheWorld · 23/02/2018 10:20

I've not been posting as busy at work and haven't had dinner last 2 (or 3?) nights so nothing much interesting to post. Been eating sausages, creamy coffee, babybel, celeriac risotto, BC friendly chilli. Trying to keep water up.

I did take this month's "ski trouser" pictures if anyone is interested in seeing my pasty tum!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 23/02/2018 10:21

I told someone the other day that I haven't eaten bread, rice, pasta, potatoes etc since 8th Jan and they were incredulous. "But what do you eat?!" Sandwiches for lunch and large portions of carbs on the side are so ingrained into our eating habits...

nekobus · 23/02/2018 10:42

Morning all! Been on track since Monday, after my half term hiccup, feeling less bloated but will stay off the scales until next Monday so I don't have a case of the fuck-it's when I see I've not lost Blush
Confessions are the carb creep of an 85% choc every night and a few too many almonds and spoons of almonds butter...

Rshard · 23/02/2018 10:44

No huge carb creeping from me, but have found myself snacking more than usual. Only ham or cheese but still

TimeIhadaNameChange · 23/02/2018 10:59

I've been doing better this week (well, since Sunday, but that's my usual slightly more relaxed day anyway). Until last night. DP had bought some crisps which he wanted me to try as he thought they'd changed the recipe (they had) - I had a larger handful than I'd planned on having! But then dinner was a disaster, as I'd done a cauli-rice mix to have with some pork, but the rice was foul. It was from a packet, smelt terrible and tasted worse. So all I had was pork, which meant I was still hungry. So I then got a protein roll out the freezer and had that with butter, and then another handful of crisps.

I did manage to avoid the bar of Galaxy he had open on the side though, though I was tempted, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

TMI - Need some advice about constipation. Have struggled all week, it's coincided with a loss of appetite. I don't feel uncomfortable but I'm very aware that I'm not as regular as I was. I was regular to the point of same time everyday and sometimes twice. Stools are very hard. I'm drinking between 2-3 litres a day. I'm wondering if it's eggs / dairy?

I start most days with Greek yoghurt and 4 dried apricots, lunch is salad leaves with boiled eggs and cheese (sometimes chicken and roast veg or mackerel) dinner - cheese and chorizo omelette / chicken and veg. I have been having some dark chocolate most days - one or two squares. I use cheese to fill me up, any ideas for high fat things I can eat that are non dairy? Salad and eggs doesn't fill me up. Ivehad no nuts since starting. Think I'm week 5 now.

Help!

LeapinLizards · 23/02/2018 12:12

I'm still KOKO and no carb misdemeanours to report. But I'm on the home straight for my get-together with old friends next weekend so that's focussing my mind. I'm planning to go off piste (food-wise, we're not skiing) esp as dry february will be over. But not sure how much. I don't want to return from a few days away having undone all my good work so I'll need to go easy and stay mindful.
Thewayoftheworld, post the ski trousers pics! It's great to see visual results - even better than the scales, I think though my obsession remains!
Well done to those who are seeing the results.

Almahart · 23/02/2018 13:04

Ha ha yolo I've been catching it Upney had two glasses of wine and a bag of chips last night. But back on track today. I didn't care cheat on e in my first bootcamp but am not in a massive rush on this one.

Chips are my weakness - I have a simple remedy though, get off at a different train station - then they're just not an option

Rayna37 · 23/02/2018 13:14

Yes TheWay would love the ski trousers pics!

Totally on plan with family visiting though maybe not as much water some days. Roast chicken with lots of veg on Weds, hm chicken saffron curry last night both went down v well. Also no snacks for ages and a couple of days with just coffee and cream for breakfast which would have been unthinkable before this WoE.

However will be going off plan with a Pieminister pie tonight, DHs favourite as he's been ill for days and off his food (and rejected all the other options we have in) and a guilty pleasure of mine which needs eating from the freezer. I'm not too worried, will be super strict on everything else. Glad that he's totally on board with HFLC as a healthy lifestyle and rarely tries to lead me astray. Was frustrating seeing my stepfather worried about eating cheese but happily tucking into toast and jam and biscuits; I told him if he survives another 10 years (not being too harsh, he's healthy but 75) guidelines will move on he'll look back and say ah, you did tell me sugar was the problem and fat doesn't make you fat!

BIWI · 23/02/2018 13:37

@VenusStarr:

Not going as frequently is common on low carbing, and it doesn't mean you're constipated - as long as you're not uncomfortable. However, if your stools are very hard, this would suggest that you're not drinking enough, and possibly not eating fat - or fibre

Are you drinking enough water? You're not on the spreadsheet so I don't know how much you weigh - but the minimum you should be drinking is 2.5 litres. Depending on your weight you may need to drink more - go the spreadsheet and check the table in rule 6 to see how much.

I start most days with Greek yoghurt and 4 dried apricots

Why the dried apricots?! These aren't allowed on Bootcamp as they're way too carby - 36g carbs per 100g. If you're eating them for the fibre, then you'd be far better having some berries or some nuts/seeds.

lunch is salad leaves with boiled eggs and cheese (sometimes chicken and roast veg or mackerel) dinner - cheese and chorizo omelette / chicken and veg.

How much fat are you using here? Are you adding an oily dressing to your salad, and/or mayo? Are you using butter on your veg? Are you roasting the chicken (and eating the skin!)? And what are your portion sizes like - are you eating enough?

I have been having some dark chocolate most days - one or two squares

Nothing wrong with this, as long as it's a high cocoa content, and you don't have more than 2 squares

I use cheese to fill me up

You should be looking at your protein sources here too, to make sure they're high fat choices - e.g. chicken thighs rather than breast

any ideas for high fat things I can eat that are non dairy? Salad and eggs doesn't fill me up.

Of course it won't! You need more fat and also more protein.

I'vehad no nuts since starting. Think I'm week 5 now.

Which means you can move to Bootcamp Light, so you can introduce nuts/seeds and/or berries - in moderation of course!

It also doesn't sound to me like you're eating much veg - this is really important as this is where you'll get your fibre.

@Plantlover

Do you not struggle to get back on the low carbing?

If I have carbs I really find it difficult not to want more and more and more! They really seem to affect my brain!

Yes they do - there's a theory that sugar (which is what carbohydrate is) is highly addictive. Certainly eating high carb foods can be very pleasurable, and it 'lights up' the reward centre of the brain.

You just have to recognise this, and rein it in as soon as you can.

Remember - you, and you alone, are responsible for what you put in your mouth!

BrassicaBabe · 23/02/2018 15:02

I'm sooooo nearly at goal weight. Only 2.5lb to go. I'm planning my first Indian takeaway tonight. And my plan is to have the curry only. No rice. And no beloved garlic naan. Keeping the faith!! Grin
