Morning all. Very excited to hear the final scores!

Here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing this Bootcamp

We'll keep this chat thread going, and when it finishes, we'll start a new one so that we can keep the support going until next Bootcamp.

Congratulations cleareyes - kudos to you for resisting too much temptation on holiday.

My own ambitious target is 24lb before Christmas (which would get me just under 12stone) but I'll be happy with a 1lb a week (c.18lb). But to do that I need to maintain this WoE Smile .....but of course I will Wink

I'd like to get to 10stone 9lb by 16 May next year (20th wedding anniversary) so only 2 stone 13lb to go Grin

Shred Level 1 Day 7 today. No Pilates until 5th September as my instructor is on holiday Sad - but I might think about a couple of runs (I like running but I hate starting running again after a very long gap) in the interim, since I'm also missing out on the 3.4 mile cycle ride to the class.

StuntNun · 22/08/2017 14:54

As a rule of thumb you're supposed to stay under 50 calories during a fast period when intermittent fasting, otherwise it breaks the fast. There isn't any real evidence for this though, it's just a general recommendation. The reason is that the metabolic changes that take place during fasting are time-dependent and having a creamy coffee is likely to reset the clock. Unfortunately most of the research into fasting is done on animals and only uses alternate day fasting so it's difficult to extrapolate to other fasting methods.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 22/08/2017 15:50

rettynird 24lbs is absolutely doable, and I'm so happy you didn't laugh at my 30lb ambition!

StuntNun, thanks, got it now.

Hmm
ClearEyesFullHearts · 22/08/2017 15:51

rettynird? FFS.

wombattoo · 22/08/2017 16:26

Welcome back ClearEyes
NOMORE Apologies about the yoghurt, I thought Total also did natural yoghurt. Blush Re the IF, I generally eat my 'evening' meal about 4.30 - 5. I then don't eat my breakfast till about 9am - that is a 16 hour fast, so it's not undoable

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 22/08/2017 16:35

@C4pinkwheels don't forget to include the superbugs food and waste weight probably at least 1/2lb each. [Smile] Well, here's hoping your over this ........ next yearShock. Don't forget you're probably start stalling with the new exercises, and getting all buffed up. Take and #names

@ClearEyesFullHearts brilliant news .8lb is only the 1 superbug from C4 or cup of fluid so fantastic. Good luck with the Poo - put a book in the loo ready for the evacuation timeframe or to use as a fan.

I'm also >200lb targeting, at 205 today so will join yer in the race to the end of month. Doing just a little Hiit and cycle to work during the week. Got jobs to do this weekend so no long ride Saturday.

MOIST · 22/08/2017 17:44

I am beyond carby twatness.

Birthday cake for breakfast (with cream!)

Left over Indian takeaway for lunch

More evil bastard Kendal mint cake (I fear I am addicted)

Haven't planned tea yet but it might involve chips and gin.

I haven't gone so far off piste since I started this. I promise I'll be back in it tomorrow.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 22/08/2017 17:45

Cheers, Grah

Out of curiosity, how are you managing your extreme (to me) cycling while low-carbing?

Apologies if you've addressed this before , but my husband trained for a very big cycling event think mountains, think baguettes three years ago and was relentless about it. Simultaneously I was low-carbing and preparing our dinners that way, but later came to learn that his breakfast and lunch weren't LCHF at all as he needed the carbs for rigorous exercise. (The fecker still lost loads more weight than I did Envy.)

He's put some (a fair bit) back on and is riding only once a week now. Does LCHF dinners with me when home, but still has plenty of chocolate and bread and potatoes.

I know that weight is ultimately about what we put in our mouths. He hasn't grasped this yet.

But I also know that regular exercise has numerous health benefitsit's not all about being slenderand will help stave off flab and shit.

Ultimately my question to you all is do you have difficulty finding energy for hardcore physical pursuits Wink while doing LCHF?

ClearEyesFullHearts · 22/08/2017 17:55

promise I'll be back in it tomorrow.

I'll hold you to that, MOIST.

C4pinkwheels · 22/08/2017 18:28

Moist stop it, stop it at once. You deserve nice lchf food not evil sugar, this isn't going to make you feel good, you've got this you really have. Please don't undermine yourself this way. Now off you go on a 20 mile hike tomorrow to the top of Buttermere Fell.

BIWI · 22/08/2017 18:40

@ClearEyesFullHearts

This is a really good book for you/your DH to read

If you're properly fat-adapted, you should be able to perform just as well if not better than when you're eating carbs.

cleareyes great work STS.

C4 a year of antibiotics Shock those bastard bugs messing with your scales!

I am struggling a bit Confused haven't gone off lchf but really tempted, just want to eat. Feeling very anxious about the holiday, always nervous spending time with my parents and especially so when I am trying to eat well. DM was talking about greeting us with fresh langos (essentially fried potato bread) and I thought 'I have to tell her about the woe' so I said I am avoiding some foods that don't agree with me including wheats. The response was accepting if patronising and then competitive "of course I don't like to eat bread either" so of course I have made her feel bad about her own eating.

The big thing worrying me, I think, is that I won't have the willpower to stick to the woe. There will be serious temptation, I will be feeling anxious, I will be in holiday 'fuck it ' mode, and one thing might lead to another. I don't want to break the woe but I am panicked about my self control thanks anxiety for creating this scenario

Last night I was alone and the DDs just weren't going to bed without a lot of screaming and I shut myself away in the kitchen. I suppose it is a small NSV that I didn't shovel the contents of the biscuit cupboard in my face which would have been my previous reaction. I did self harm a little though so reverting to other unhealthy coping mechanisms Hmm

In a slightly more pleasant NSV I have had a few compliments and DH said that my face looks more like the "old me".

Hello, I'm new(ish) to this! I did Atkins about 8 yrs ago and lost about 2 stones in 10 weeks. Since then it's all gone back on plus more, then some baby weight and now, since I gave up the fags a few months back, another half stone. End result is I am 14st2 and 5'5".

Have been pretty much zero carb for the last couple of days. Feel a bit crappy but guess that's the carb flu kicking in so hopefully it's working!

Today's food:

B. Cheddar cheese chunks, some green olives, mini chicken satay skewers

L. 2 x McD's cheeseburgers (no bun or sauce - just the burgers with cheese!). Packet of pork scratchings.

D. Steak with wilted spinach and garlic butter

Friday is going to be difficult as we normally have a curry - would I be ok to have say a prawn madras and mushrooms no rice or breads obvs!

Also, are the barenaked rice and noodles allowed?

MOIST · 22/08/2017 21:15

Evening namaste bitches

The lakes holiday is going quite badly tits up. DD2 is falling apart. Think we'll be heading home tomorrow.
Given my addiction to the evil bastard Kendal mint cake it's possibly not a bad thing.

lilydaisyrose · 22/08/2017 21:23

Hello!

I've been invited over here by @ilovecherries (thank you!) who has given me some great advice already. Here's a copy of my post, I'd really appreciate any advice you experienced LCHFers can offer, thank you!

Hello!

I started LCHF yesterday morning but I am now a bit confused! Before starting, I read the dietdoctor website in detail & think I'm following the principles, however, according to MFP, my carb intake is still quite high. Can I please run my meals past you & see what you think? Please be gentle, I'm trying.

For info - I was over 18 stone last time I checked, which was 12w post partum. I'm 8m post partum now and breastfeeding around 6-7 times in 24 hours. I think I'm probably around 19 stone or just over now. I am gearing myself up to weigh again this week to give me a starting figure. Due to breastfeeding, I am aiming for a moderate carb allowance of 50-60g p/d.

Mon 21/8:-
B - 2 x hard boiled eggs (I realise I should have added some fat to this meal)
S - creamy coffee made with whole milk
L - avocado, mozzarella, vine tomatoes, basil leaves - drizzled with ev olive oil. 10 raspberries.
T - brocolli, cauliflower & carrot in homemade cheese sauce made with whole milk.
S - green tea with jasmine

Tues 22/8:-
B - Bowl of f/f Greek yogurt with raspberries & blueberries & sprinkled with cacao nibs and 10g chopped nuts. Creamy coffee made with whole milk
S - Co-op Mango & Coconut chicken skewer things
L - ham, cheddar, brie, avocado with big fresh salad, drizzled with ev olive oil & full fat Aldi mayo on the side. 20 raspberries.
T - homemade bolognaise with grated cheddar on top. I cooked this with olive oil to fry the onions, I realise now that I should have used coconut oil.
S - couple of cups of tea with milk + green tea with jasmine

Over the next few days, I was planning to have:-

  • omelette/scrambled eggs with chopped veg
  • bacon & mushrooms
  • sliced apple with peanut butter
---
  • houmous & crudites
  • cheese, oatcakes & apple
---
  • salmon with lemon & rocket salad with parmesan
  • peppered mackerel & rocket salad with parmesan

Am I wildly off course? Gentle, friendly advice welcome!

Thanks

ASDismynormality · 22/08/2017 21:29

MOIST. Sorry to hear your holiday isn't going well for your DD. I had a bit of a rocky holiday in Center parcs with DS (ASD/ADHD) last week so understand how hard it can be.

lilydaisyrose. Welcome! I'm sore someone will look at your food properly soon but a quick look shows too much milk and fruit. Most people seem to cut out milk altogether.

Grimbles · 22/08/2017 21:33

Lily rose, I'm a noob at this but my instinct is too much fruit and milk.

I'd probably drop the tomatoes and carrots for the moment as well tbh.

Grimbles · 22/08/2017 21:35

I was a bit Hmm at my giant bag of spinach turning into a tiny spoonful once it had wilted!

It was really nice though!

MOIST · 22/08/2017 21:36

God. More cake.

I'll be needing a whole new bloody egg fast after this.

RaininSummer · 22/08/2017 21:39

Lily make your coffee with water and actual cream rather than milk. There is a scientific reason for this apparently. Welcome

ASDismynormality · 22/08/2017 21:46

Grimbles. Spinach is nice raw, feels more satisfying to eat it like that as as you said it wilts to virtually nothing!

ilovecherries · 22/08/2017 21:52

I nearly always eat my spinach raw, with hot melted butter drizzled on it. Yum yum.

starsky22 · 22/08/2017 22:11

Oldbooks sorry to hear you're struggling, I don't know what advice to give, but concerned about the self harming instead of a food binge, although I'm aware that over eating can be a form of self-harm. It's clear the forthcoming trip is causing you a lot of anxiety and I think you did the right thing my telling your DM. I think all you can do is prepare as much as you can, you will be faced with temptation, so decide now how you are going to deal with it, you do have self-control, you've been sticking to this woe and you can keep on sticking with it, please don't undo all your hard work. Just remember you don't eat all that carby crap, you eat healthy filling food and it makes you feel so much better. Maybe also take some low carb snacks for emergencies? {{{Hugs}}}

starsky22 · 22/08/2017 22:21

Grimbles & Lily welcome!

Grimbles Yes barednaked noodles and rice are fine on bootcamp. Be careful with take-aways, they tend to have a lot of hidden carbs, the ones I have had taste so sweet to me, now I am not used to sugar, I think dishes without sauces are probably best. Also looking at your food, try to limit the processed meat, not that I can talk, had quite a bit of bacon today!

Lily If you are breastfeeding, then I think bootcamp lite is fine, which means you can have some fruit, but keep it to low carb e.g raspberries/strawberries, so apples are out. I'd also take out the milk (you could try almond milk instead), houmous and oatcakes and limit the carrots and tomatoes, all a bit too carby. Have a look at the spreadsheet (see link on first post) for more info/recipes etc.

starsky22 · 22/08/2017 22:27

Today:
B fasting
L spinach, bacon & cheddar frittata, salad with avocado, seeds & oily dressing
D cream cheese stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon, creamed leeks & cabbage with butter
S 2 low carb chipolata sausages

Also had a bite of DS leftover parsnip, was ridiculously sweet
