Morning campers

Here's the spreadsheet

So we start our last two weeks. Let's get really focused - think about the food you're eating, pinpoint any carb creep and eliminate that cheating!

If it helps, post what you're eating each day. Or even consider going back to strict Bootcamp for the last fortnight!

Flowers

Good luck to everyone

@ilovecherries - I feel your pain! And I hope very much that the hotel were able to make you a lovely, low carb fry up this morning

I'm thinking about my treat to myself for the time I make the transition from very-fat-person to fat-person, which is half a stone away. I get my hair cut and coloured regularly anyway (need to at my age, so it's more a necessity than a treat, tbh!), I prefer the podiatrist to a pedicure (see previous reason!), I can't bear being fiddled with (so that would be a no to a massage or a facial) and I like short, trimmed nails (manicures probably out as well). So in anticipation of buying lots of new clothes at some point, I was thinking about having my colours done. But I went to CMB about 20 years ago, before I went back to work after my last maternity leave, and I came out with a very dubious wallet of colours (salmon pink anyone?) and green eyeshadow. I hear good things about HoC though. Anyone tried them?

starsky22 · 23/07/2017 15:59

I had my colours done with House of Colour a couple of years ago and loved it, would definitely recommend them. The colour consultant made the process fun and I use my colour wallet for all my clothes shopping now, I find it makes shopping so much easier as I can ignore half the clothes in the shops. Although at times it is frustrating when you can't find things in your colour. I regularly get complimented when I'm wearing by best colours, so I do think it makes a difference to how I look. I wasn't so keen on the make-up part and really struggled with the bright lipsticks, but now I love them, although still don't go for the lavender eyeshadow she recommended!

StuntNun · 23/07/2017 16:41

Ragz I discovered Asda for clothes when I was losing weight. They're really cheap but decent quality. Supermarket clothes generally are good and can be heavily reduced in the sales. I get a terrible shock now when I go to a "proper" clothes shop and have to pay £45 for a pair of jeans.

I got caught out today and ended up having four McDonald chicken nuggets for lunch! Blush I'll be making up for it later with steak and salad for dinner. I love Lidl for meat: two sirloins for a fiver. I was hoping for their orgasmic duck but they didn't have any so I'm making do with sirloin steak for my Sunday dinner!

Bibs2014 · 23/07/2017 17:01

I've got a lamb roasting - what veg can I roast with brocolli and cauliflower (needs using up).

Userwithoutaname · 23/07/2017 18:17

I'm still struggling. Aside from being bored of salad and eggs and meat with veg, I've now got an upset stomach. It started mid week .. not sure if it was linked to eating too much cream or a prawn cocktail I had ... or if it's my IBS returning. I'm feeling really fed up and turned to emotional eating again last night (a couple of plain biscuits and some dark chocolate, then dp came home with chips). I'm trying to get back on track but can't face anything really. I had some live yoghurt for lunch with a few strawberries ... it was all i fancied. I've got chicken casserole in the oven for dinner which should be ok .. I'll not have the potatoes. All i fancy really though is something bland like rice or toast. Not sure what to do.

ilovecherries · 23/07/2017 19:12

I was hungry tonight, and it was an odd feeling because it was just 'I'm hungry, Id better get dinner going' rather than 'I'm so hungry I'm going to pass out and I can hardly hold a knife because my hand is trembling I'm so hungry, so I'd better eat three biscuits and a bag of crisps before I start cooking or I will never last'. Im a bit horrified really by how I have been a hostage to blood sugar swings for years, while doing my utmost to eat 'healthily'.

Anyway, reason I was hungry is I hadn't eaten much today, but dinner smells delicious.

B: fasting
L: hard boiled egg, 100gms of FF yog and 8 raspberries, eaten on the hoof
D: roast chicken, cauliflower 'steak' with chilli, butter and Parmesan, roast cabbage.

secretsignal · 23/07/2017 19:27

Spectacularly nosedived off the wagon today, 1st time since week 1. Feeling emotionally unstable and massive chocolate craving and ended up eating a bag of cooking chocolate chips SadBlush

starsky22 · 23/07/2017 19:50

Another recommendation for supermarket clothes, everything I have bought from Sainsbury's has been really good quality and worn/washed well. In particular the jeggings, which are only £12.50.

Icant not sure what you have planned for the coconut sugar, but I don't think it is BC friendly, from what I've read it has the same carbs as normal sugar.

Today:
B half a protein roll with butter & peanut butter
L salmon & asparagus frittata
D roast beef with broccoli and runner beans and gravy

It's funny the things you can say no to and the ones you can't, was fine not having roast potatoes and parsnips, but needed a little bit of gravy! Also can say no chocolate and cakes, but not alcohol in certain situations, mainly at celebrations, seems a shame not to have a drink when someone is celebrating something!

Scales have been showing a loss this week, so hoping that is still the case for weigh-in tomorrow!

JiminnyCricket · 23/07/2017 20:02

I've just started buying random bits and bobs I can wear over leggings while the weight drops off, I bought this jumper for £12 and it will fit me now all the way down to when I'm at my goal weight because the fit is loose :)

Loathed to buy anything fitted to be honest!

Looking good Jim.

BIWI · 23/07/2017 20:31

Woah @JiminnyCricket looking good there!

I am just back from La France, where I have to confess to having been a grande twat des carbes.

stunt I'd totally forgotten we'd called it orgasmic duck! I love it.

starsky22 · 23/07/2017 21:10

sayrra and stunt tell me more about the orgasmic duck, sounds like something I need to look for next time I am in Lidl!

FinallyHere · 23/07/2017 21:29

a bit horrified really by how I have been a hostage to blood sugar swings for years,

Goodnes, yes, ilovecherries have to keep reminding myself that it's better late than never....

Like starsky I'm a big fan of HouseofColour. Colour analysis made a big difference to my confidence, and hence how much time and money I wasted on clothes, before finding things to wear in which i feel both comfortable and appropriate. I'm sure any experienced consultant would do the same for you, I just find that most of the many consultants I have found, have been through the HofC school. I found. It a fun experience (I've been a couple of times, with friends (and DH!) and then again as a model in training sessions. I would encourage anyone to try it..

ragz134 · 23/07/2017 21:47

Wow jim looking great there! Good plan with the loose fit clothes. I'm going with stretchy fabrics for now rather than anything with buttons or zips, I think. Will check out Saintsbury's as I'm passing one at work Tuesday. Asda can be a bit hit and miss, sometimes they have nothing in that I like. I'm really fussy with clothes, haven't ever found my style which bus me as I know what I DON'T like and that's most of it! Tempted to go for a stylist/colours session myself. Never can work it out on my own. I have tried with online ones etc...

Had meatballs in a tomato and veg sauce on baked kale. With added cheese. Was lovely. A few spoons of cream for pudding!

Bibs2014 · 23/07/2017 22:10

BIWI you are human and succumb to carbs too! That makes me feel better GrinGrinGrin

BIWI · 23/07/2017 22:14

Oh yes, Bibs. Sad to say I am very human Grin

It's 'do what I say' not 'do what I do' Grin Grin

Hi everyone,

I had a family event with the in laws today and managed to stick to low carbs in the face of a massive carb heavy brunch so feeling quite pleased with myself.

goodbad those courgette balls sound amazing.
Is almond flour the same thing as ground almonds or are they different? I roasted some mini courgettes in olive oil as a side for dinner trying to tempt my fussy toddler to eat veg, no such luck- and they were delicious.

Congratulations to all those posting before and after photos - you look amazing!

StuntNun · 23/07/2017 23:03

Starsky behold the orgasmic duckk* it's just duck breast marinated in garlic and pepper but it is oh so yummy and perfect for LCHF.

prettybird · 23/07/2017 23:09

My Lidl appears to have stopped stocking the orgasmic duck Sad Instead they have similar sized plain duck breasts.

However, by scoring them in the same way (diagonal diamonds), rubbing them with sea salt and black pepper (and garlic salt if you have it) and then cooking them in the same way as the orgasmic duck, they come out pretty similar Smile

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 23/07/2017 23:23

Mimosa same thing! You could probably use ground flaxmeal as well

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 24/07/2017 00:06

Thanks for the info about the coconut flour and almond butter, I got kidded into buying it as I though it might be healthier...
Of course almond butter is just but butter. .dur..
Aldi do a peanut butter for about half the price of meridian etc which is just peanuts, I do like a tiny bit of that occasionally.
I've had a boozy few days. It's the holidays. I need to stop and be really strict for a week at least.
It's my 40th in two weeks and I'm not 'dealing' with it as they say. .

ShastaBeast · 24/07/2017 03:29

Urgh. Awake with pain despite hitting the gym yesterday. I'm feeling very fat suddenly and wondering if I'm retaining water. Eating too much fruit so probably need to have a bad weigh in to get back on the straight and narrow. Also having natural cycles for the first time in years - copper coil was safely found in the right place so definitely no babies.

Apart from the berries with cream and three squares of 85% chocolate I had a bit of cheddar and left over bacon followed by roast chicken, lots of skin, gravy and veggies. The kids love eating the skin too. Oh and creamy coffee for breakfast.

I bought magnesium from Tesco - £2.50 each I think, 3 for 2 offer. Potassium seems less available and the doses are low so food sources are best. I'm going to try supplements again for pain - fish oil, glucosamine and turmeric as well as the magnesium. Losing a stone and getting much fitter hasn't helped much sadly, but I'm not surprised.

It's hard to get my head around adding salt and butter, I'm so conditioned again fat and salt even three months in. This is partly why I'm eating fruit as it feels like the healthy option.

Fingers crossed for the weigh in. My first with the kids at home and no gym session beforehand. When is the final weigh in of this bootcamp?

BIWI · 24/07/2017 07:10

But @ShastaBeast you know that fruit isn't really that healthy! Have you read any of the resources on the spreadsheet? A quick read of any of the stuff there should help to reassure you. Sorry that you're in pain Sad
