Week 6 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - we're racing on!

Morning campers!

Here's the spreadsheet

Some good losses reported already this morning!

Four weeks left, so we could still see a good half stone disappear if we're vigilant.

The hot weather looks like it's disappearing this week, so hopefully anyone still struggling with water retention should find some relief.

But good luck to us all

Great news Cherries. Have a lovely time.

Books You don't have to use the spreadsheet at all if you prefer not to. For every new bc, when BIWI does the sign up thread, it explains that you don't need to be on it, but loads of posters sign up never to be seen again Grin I am of course aware that we have many lurkers.
I think many people believe that they have to be on the s/s to join in. There are others who don't weigh or use the s/s at all.

wombattoo · 26/06/2017 14:55

Aw that's tough Jim. Remember that the biscuit won't make him or you feel any better. Wishing him a speedy recovery Thanks

FinallyHere · 26/06/2017 15:08

Sorry to hear what your Dad is going through, Jim hope it gets itself sorted soon. Well done meanwhile for avoiding the biscuits.

ninnando · 26/06/2017 15:18

Hi, I'm a lurker! . I'm loving this woe, it's an absolute revelation after many failed diet clubs and lots of money wasted.
I've just completed week 2 of BC and decided to bite the bullet and add myself to the SOL. I'm hoping I've not wrecked it but it's looking a bit odd now!
I'm hoping someone may be able to check it out.

dustmotesinthesun · 26/06/2017 15:32

cabbage lots of proseccos plus your period will have made you put on several pounds of water I'm betting. Give it a strict week, re-weigh and you will see a difference I promise

yolo I'm the same with photos. I don't think I know anyone on this thread (well I know I don't) but my brothers not very nice wife is on mn. It's a chance in a million she'd come on this section of mn and twig it's me but it's a bit unnerving. I want to put some photos up but might colour in the background so there's less of a chance of being spotted. I have to know her forever more. I don't want her seeing my fat bits Grin She'd show him too. The pair of them are pretty unpleasant. He's a physiotherapist and doesn't believe in M.E so I avoid them at all cost. He disapproves of my weight and thinks if I didn't lie around in bed so much I wouldn't have an issue. Hmm

Jim sorry to hear about your dad.

ilove have a lovely time. And good luck. You can do this! Enjoy all the lovely food out there.

dustmotesinthesun · 26/06/2017 15:32

Welcome ninnando Good to have you here

SayrraT · 26/06/2017 15:36

Spreadsheet looks fine.

JiminnyCricket · 26/06/2017 15:39

Well, I called it and Dad owes me a fiver £20

He's just had his ultrasound, gall stones all over his abdomen and an exploded gall bladder just like me and Grandad.

I assume my docterate of medicine is in the post! Hmm

They are whipping out his gall bladder and sucking the crap out of his abdomen early tomorrow morning, he should be home tomorrow night although that will depend how quickly he comes round etc.

We're going to have matching battle scars Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 26/06/2017 15:47

Urgh. I've had to eat some toast Sad. I was up in the early hours this morning being very sick indeed. DP was poorly yesterday so it must be a bug. I feel really wobbly but I have to take DS to his sports activity shortly so I have to go out. Toast was the only thing that was going to settle my tummy Sad.

cabbage67 · 26/06/2017 15:58

Wombat Thanks, I will stick at it and I started on week 1 of BC.

Adalind I didn't really feel like I was cheating as I didn't have any carbs and chose dishes that I thought would have minimum sugar. As for the wine, Diet Doctor says I can the occasional glass of wine.. is he fibbing to me?

AdalindSchade · 26/06/2017 16:01

jiminy that's a relief!

I've felt super hungry today and a bit weak. Going to have lots of butter and salt on my dinner to try to deal with it.

cabbage67 · 26/06/2017 16:02

Thanks Dust I will hold you to that promise Wink

Naschkatze · 26/06/2017 16:04

I just wrote a long post, with replies to everyone and the app lost it! Angry

B - Avocado
S - Boiled egg and salami. Roasted peanuts.
S - Cucumber slices with pate.
D - will be baked aubergine (half) with pesto. Garlic mushrooms and maybe some of the aforementioned parmesan courgette fries!

Wasn't really hungry this morning and was out over lunch. Declined the repeated offers of biscuits and brownies at baby group. Very easy to see why I wasn't losing the baby weight before BC!

AdalindSchade · 26/06/2017 16:07

It's not just obvious carbs like rice and nan though, loads of ingredients can add carb content really quickly. In a curry you will have sugar, tomato, creamed coconut, maybe nuts, add them all together and they could easily be 20+ grams of carbs or a lot more. Too many carbs and your body produces and stores glycogen which shows as weight on the scales.

You can drink a little bit, but all alcohol causes water retention so it will affect the scales whenever you drink.

AdalindSchade · 26/06/2017 16:09

I have walnuts and ground almonds. How can I turn them into muffins please? All recipes online seem to have sugar or bananas in.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 26/06/2017 16:20

I make these for DH www.ditchthecarbs.com/2017/01/25/1-minute-keto-muffins/. They're very nice, a little bit eggy, but not too bad & I'm sure you could add the walnuts to it, or whatever you wanted. He loves the "pretend bread"!

I was added to a fb group called "Zero Carb" or something, had a read of it and they eat "exclusively from the animal kingdom" so no veg, barely any dairy. They literally just eat meat & eggs & drink water. How have they not got scurvy? I had a gawp & left quick sharpish!

wombattoo · 26/06/2017 16:21

Welcome ninnando
How have you been finding it? Did you have a loss in your firs 2 weeks?

ClearEyesFullHearts · 26/06/2017 16:23

I haven't weighed today (I've basically been weighing on Tuesdays) but if my body is any indicator I've lost a pound or two.

Will update spreadsheet tomorrow but since the start of Bootcamp I've basically been losing and gaining the same five pounds. That's not a huge problem for me--I've been doing this for quite a while now and the results are worth it, especially as it's so easy to eat the food (yum).

I do feel I need a kick-start and am contemplating NO ALCOHOL for the remaining weeks of Bootcamp. I only ever drink zero carb spirits with soda but feel this change might be the tonic I need (pun intended).

What I'd like to know is if there is anyone else who currently has a bit of alcohol here and there who might want to join me in totally remainder DRY BOOTCAMP?

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 26/06/2017 16:23

Oh yes, food.

B - microwave scrambled eggs & leftover roast chicken
L - tuna & avocado salad & mayo
D - picnic box type thing - continental meat, cheese, cucumber, olives, a couple of slices of pepper, fried courgette

ClearEyesFullHearts · 26/06/2017 16:25

I had a gawp

Hippa for some reason this made me laugh.

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 26/06/2017 16:41

Hi BIWI sorry, crazy day.

I haven't been tracking my food for the past few days after you discouraged it
So typical day here:
B: Creamy coffee, yoghurt and double cream
L: salad and tuna or chicken with mayo
D: bolognaise and broccoli with cheese
S: cheese (20g x1 or 2) sometimes another creamy coffee. There's lots of fat in all of it.
I cant help but compare it to diets (low calorie) where the weight has fallen off but haven't been sustainable.
Really unsure about whether to continue.

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 26/06/2017 16:42

ASD did you have a good empty this morning?

I am the same 1lb up over yesterday but not emptied Lunch or Supper yet. Putting it down to Water/Fiber Retention.

random are you getting enough Salt, Grin ( learnt BIWI)

213.2 this morning 212.4 yesterday so going for a 4lb lost this week.

Almost back to pre-holiday weight of 207 looking for 199 to get my next beer.

Cherrypi · 26/06/2017 16:47

Glad your Dad's ok Jimminy. Anyone got a porridge substitute? I really fancied some this morning. Sautéed rhubarb was delicious. Burnt the pan a bit though oops.

StuntNun · 26/06/2017 16:49

HeMan sometimes when you're ill only toast will stay down do. You have to look after your health first before you worry about the carbs.

Hippa you don't need as much vitamin C on a low carb diet says she who got scurvy so you can probably get enough from meat on a zero carb diet. I think I would get bored on that WOE though, some of the ZCers only eat raw minced beef. Confused

ClearEyesFullHearts · 26/06/2017 17:04

some of the ZCers only eat raw minced beef

Erm...yum. Hmm
