I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? Wink

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation!

Remember, week 4 is, like week 3, a time when weight loss tends to be pretty slow, if not non-existent. KOKO and persevere, and things will get going again soon.

But not if you cheat! Whilst many of you have been very honest about your transgressions, just remember that this WOE is not a very forgiving one. It's not like a calorie-controlled diet, where you can compensate for one 'bad' day with a 'good' one. As some of you have already found out the hard way!

Thanks Stuntnun. Was it reasonably easy to switch back to Bootcamp Light?

JiminnyCricket · 12/06/2017 13:19

Thanks Stunt :)

I had an 8lb in a week whoosh the week before this BC started so I'm not due another one for a while, lost 3lbs in the last 3 weeks so i assumed my body had decided to be sensible and let the weight come off nice and slowly this time!

Maybe not though, last whoosh I stalled at 16st 13 - 17st 0lbs for 3 weeks, then went down to 16st 5lbs in 3 days Hmm.. right now I've been 16st 0lbs to 16st 2lbs for 3 weeksish, so there's potential for another whoosh if things go the way they did last time.. eh.

For anyone starting out and pissed off they've stalled at week 4: whooshes are a real thing. I was skeptical, but seriously if you've been on track all week and not lost, it will catch up later on in a week with extra lbs lost. It makes no sense at all, but it will happen Grin

ClearEyesFullHearts · 12/06/2017 13:21

I found this article about minimising loose skin during weight loss.

Of particular interest was the Vitamin C and linoleic acid reference, as well as the cardio/strength training recommendations, which we don't discuss here very often.

I've recently started Pilates and feel (and see) a slight, progressive tightening of my body. As though everything's being sucked in from my core, even seeing it around the lower stomach (which is my bête noire).

I also do 45-60 minutes of walking on my treadmill each day (well, I try for seven and often do five instead).

I wondered if anyone else has a regular exercise plan to help with overall fitness and shaping the body during weight loss?

Oliversmumsarmy · 12/06/2017 13:27

I have a cross trainer. But in the last 8 years it has lain unused.

I have tried to go on it over the years. In the end I give up

Apart from Boxing day 2014 I have not been alone for even 5 minutes someone is around me constantly. And always asking for something. So I get on and off it constantly

Flibbertyjibbit · 12/06/2017 13:36

Adalind I was thinking of going to lidl so looked it up for myfitnesspal, here is the information. From what i've read, the rolls are 115g so the carb content is 9.78g per roll. Are the rolls nice?

The reason why we drink more water is to help metabolise fat, and for the body to expel it:

Why we drink water

... and of course, for all the other benefits it gives us being hydrated!

Has your mojo come back, @JiminnyCricket?!

For all those of you who are experiencing the horror of significant weight gain after cheating, perhaps I can reassure you a bit?

What you do when you cheat is to re-stock your glycogen stores; and the glucose stored in there is bound up with water, so it adds a lot of weight - but this isn't fat!

Drink more water, be extra strict with the low carbing, and considering upping your exercise or doing some (if you don't already) to use up that stored glycogen. It's stored for your body's future energy needs, so use up a bit more energy now!

Above all though, you're beginning to see that you can't just dive into the cakes and biscuits without seeing consequences.

I'm sorry to have to break this news to you Grin

Of course, what this means is that in the future, once you've achieved your target, this will also happen in real life. So it's not to say that you can never have cake or biscuits (or whatever your preferred treats are), but that you will see your weight go up - in the short term - as a consequence.

This is why StuntNun talks about setting a limit that's above your maintenance weight. When you reach that magic number, your body will quite naturally fluctuate - as well show increases if you increase your carbs too much. It means you need to be vigilant; if you know you've over-eaten on the carb front, then cut back for the next few days until things return to 'normal'.

I just had a roll for lunch. Butter and marmite on one half, goats cheese on the other. They are chewy and solid but definitely bread! Yummy. I've cut them in half though and put in the freezer as a whole one at 10g is a bit much.

I donate platelets regularly because I have a ridiculously high count (I'm in the 440's) and with platelets if you match particularly well with a patient, you can end up becoming their exclusive donor. I'm the named donor for a person in tumbridge wells who I apparently started donating to while he was in neonates so he'll now be around 2-3 now. NHS blood and transplant just called to say I need to go in today urgently and donate because my specific platelets are required for tomorrow morning Confused.. there wasn't even a "would you be able to...", just a "You need to go and donate platelets today at 5:40pm, can you get there? do you need transport?" so god knows what's happening there Confused. You can get 12 child portions of platelets out of 1 adult donation so it's not certain it's going to Tumbridge Wells and I won't know until I get a text message through to say my donation has been used, but it's wierd that there's urgency about it specifically for my platelets. I'm a universal plasma donor (AB+ blood type), female and have a stupidly high count so they do milk me like a cow regularly, never urgently though Confused

Nice thing is I get a full blood screening so I'll be able to see if my blood chem has changed at all since this WOE. Particularly interested in cholesterol and iron levels. I went one day after having a takeaway the night before and you could actually see the globs of fat in my plasma .. pretty cool to see so it will be interesting to see if you can see the same thing after 3 months on a high fat diet Grin

Anyway, super duper extra water for me today and I'll begrudgingly avoid the free biscuit afterwards Envy

ClearEyesFullHearts · 12/06/2017 14:02

Oliversmumsarmy, if you don't mind my asking, what's your current set up? Do you have a partner at home who can take over for an hour each day (or evening) so you can commit to your health plan?

A wise woman once told me that men always make time to pursue their fitness goals. You need to make an hour of alone time happen, preferably not by adding an hour to what already sounds like a very full day of responsibilities. Flowers

secretsignal · 12/06/2017 14:04

Adalind wombattoo's been helping me from the start because I have an irrational (but genuine) fear that if I touch the spreadsheet I'll balls it up for everyone. Don't think it's being presumptuous??

JiminnyCricket · 12/06/2017 14:06

@BIWI My mojo seems to be present and correct but shhh, we might scare it away! Grin

AdalindSchade · 12/06/2017 14:11

Secret, there seemed to be loads of people asking. Also new joiners saying 'can I be added' etc. It's not presumptuous at all if you've already arranged for them to help :)

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 12/06/2017 14:24

After having a small breakdown in the confectionary aisle I managed to avoid all but the 85% chocolate.

So because I was desperate for a treat I've had clotted cream, strawberries and a small bar of 85% chocolate. Feeling better

YoLoZammo · 12/06/2017 14:49

Adalind thanks for the stick wielding!!! Wink I am trying, but not always managing to drink more and can't always be near a loo! With the damage done by successive pregnancies "down there", it's a wonder I'm not using Tena! But it takes some planning ahead when out and about. Sorry TMI!

glenthebattleostrich · 12/06/2017 15:01

Jim, you are amazing. Thanks

A NSV to report, my asda delivery arrived today and I ordered some size 12 shorts and a top. They fastened. They didn't look good and there was quite an overhang but I managed to fasten them. Fairly certain half my steps today are from the happy dance around my kitchen!!!

Those who are disheartened, please keep measuring, I've only lost 4lb bit that has translated to a few inches off my belly and hips. Look to the non scale victories because at the end of the day, weight is an inaccurate measure of your size. My friend who is 12 stone wears a size 10 and looks fantastic. I'm 13,7 and wear a 14 and am not dissimilar to a small barrel.

Remember, we are making out bodies healthy and strong, that's the most important thing.

YoLoZammo · 12/06/2017 15:01

clearskies your post made me laugh!

BIWI thanks for the article. I particularly liked "You’ll have a built-in exercise plan going to the bathroom." Grin

AdalindSchade · 12/06/2017 15:06

Haha yolo I do understand! I have found the urgent need to pee has diminished though as I have got accustomed to the amount I'm drinking.

YoLoZammo · 12/06/2017 15:06

Jim you are amazing. I expect the wee one was having surgery. You are literally a lifesaver. Star

StuntNun · 12/06/2017 15:15

YoLo I found Pilates invaluable for strengthening the pelvic floor muscles. During my last pregnancy I didn't have to get up in the night to pee - a big improvement over the previous three pregnancies.

Veryflummoxed · 12/06/2017 15:16

Whoops posted on old thread by mistake so here it is again

Gingerbread green tea fizzy water 👍

CodLiverOil556 · 12/06/2017 15:21

Checking in peeps...lost 2lbs this week to take me to 11.4lbs. Shove that in your pipe and smoke it SW Wink

Treated myself to some strawberries to celebrate but only had 3. Really getting into this WOE now including the water. I drink 6 pints and mark each one on my fridge and am glad when that last mark goes on.

KOKO everyone Brew

I'd hoped to avoid discussing my toilet habits in public, but the situation is becoming rather desperate Blush. Is it normal to be having urgent greasy/oily diarrhoea after meals? I am otherwise perfectly well, I even had a colonoscopy very recently to confirm my IBS was nothing more worrying, so I do think it's diet related (or a different iteration of IBS). How it's different from the IBS-D I had before is that there is no endless gurgling/bloating/morning rush/wind/nausea. It's just a sudden urgent need to rush to the toilet, and it seems to happen after eating, rather than randomly. I'm not sure what to do about it? Yesterday I was travelling, so fell back on the standard IBS treatment of Imodium, and it worked well as always, but today it's back exactly the same. It reminds me of the carry on I had about two years ago when my GP prescribed Aldii to help me stick to a low fat diet, and I stopped it after about 3 weeks the diarrhoea was so bad. Help!

ilovecherries · 12/06/2017 15:30

And I still have my gall bladder, so not that.
