I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? Wink

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation!

Remember, week 4 is, like week 3, a time when weight loss tends to be pretty slow, if not non-existent. KOKO and persevere, and things will get going again soon.

But not if you cheat! Whilst many of you have been very honest about your transgressions, just remember that this WOE is not a very forgiving one. It's not like a calorie-controlled diet, where you can compensate for one 'bad' day with a 'good' one. As some of you have already found out the hard way!

Mandelinka, I didn't realise it was a thing, but I was moaning to a friend about this itch which was driving me crazy. Her DH who does bodybuilding was there and we'd already been chatting about LCHF so when he heard me complaining he immediately said 'keto itch'. He had a quick look - mainly on the front of my thighs - and said that was def what it was, and it was really common amongst body builders on a keto diet. I was sceptical, but googling suggested he was probably correct.

ilovecherries · 18/06/2017 19:40

C4, that's so tough. I think often people have no idea what to say or do after any life changing event, and they fall away. Not realising that what you need is just them to be normal, really.

Mandelinka · 18/06/2017 19:44

c4 your posts are always so inspirational, you are truly incredible lady Flowers

C4pinkwheels · 18/06/2017 19:45

Stuntnun - thank you, to be fair I've had a tough life, crap childhood, crap parents, pregnant teenager, married the bastard and got beaten to a pulp for years, left yippee, married another cunt who emotionally abused me, more kids and a complete car crash of a relationship, was very happily single yippee, met current DH and he wanted more than I did, I caved took on some skids full time, worked my nuts off to provide the best for all kids, became disabled, skids decided DH should ditch me because I was a burden, nearly lost DH because of this, lost all my mates, depression, suicidal, crap carers. Two years ago my eldest DD got on a plane from the other side of the world to come and arrange my funeral as I wasn't expected to pull through and it was sitting in the garden with my kids and realising that broken as I was they still loved me, needed me and the rest of the world could fuck off. So here I am not depressed, loving life, love my DH, DC's, DGC, rabbits, tortoise, LCHF, my ventilator and not feeling foggy from carbon dioxide.

I can't wait for GNR2019 and meeting you lot

styledilemma · 18/06/2017 19:54

I survived it.

I had a small bowl of strawberries and cream. If you could call it cream, it was a swish of that fresh air, fake cream. It was expensive as well Angry
Later on I had a double cheese burger without a bun. I was expecting it to come 'sandwiched' in lettuce and it was two burgers and cheese plus relish, in a cardboard box.
It was 'interesting' trying to eat it with no utensils.

I'm fine at home, or in a proper restaurant, but it's so difficult if you want something quick and suitable from a takeaway/cafe type place.

Can anyone answer my questions RE dairy? Biwi? Jiminny?
Sorry, the thread was moving so fast today.

"Can someone explain what it is about it that can affect loss? Is it just the carb count being a bit higher?
Now I feel like I've got the hang of meal planning on this WOE, I want to reduce dairy this week and see if it makes a difference. What substitutes do people use? Is coconut milk/cream (in a tin) okay to put in coffee? Have a load of old tins in the back of a cupboard.
Also, this brings me to repeat my question about Alpro yoghurt? Is this a good substitute for when I need a quick breakfast to replace the greek yoghurt?
Is hard cheese just as bad as other forms of dairy? Not sure I will survive without cheddar."

Food, not been very hungry today.
B- creamy coffee, 2 slices ham.
L - salad leaves, Parmesan shavings and chicken mayo.
D - DH chose chinese takeaway as a Father's Day treat. I think I minimised the damage by having garlic mushrooms, prawn chop suey and some cauliflower rice from the freezer. There are a whole bag of prawn crackers (free) on the table and I don't want them! Well maybe a little bit, but I won't.Grin
Quite proud of myself for not snacking today. But it's probably just the heat.

BIWI · 18/06/2017 20:44

Wow!

What a day this has been for you all!

Sorry I wasn't around but travelling from SILs (no wifi) to take MIL out for lunch, then travelling back from there, so have been mostly in the car today.

Thank you all for posting and sharing. @JiminnyCricket thank you for wielding the big stick in my absence. I know it might have pissed some people off, but I agreed with every word of your post. Yes, it was harsh - but support isn't about saying 'never mind, you'll be fine'. It's about delivering the words that people need to see what they're doing (good or bad

@shittymctwatface I hope you're still here, reading if not posting - and I hope you didn't give into the pizza! One thing that nobody said to you that's really important you couldn't have gained 4lbs of fat overnight!

It's far more likely to be water retention in this heat, or dodgy scales, or your scales were on carpet instead of a flat surface, or just one of those irritating daily fluctuations that you'll see. If you can't bear the daily changes, then please don't weigh every day - leave it till once a week.

@c4pinkwheels it's easy to say, but I hope you'll see us all here as your friends. I can't believe that your own friends have abandoned you Sad I'd be honoured to be your friend, and come and support

@OldBooks from what you've written there, I'd say that you have a problem with dairy - you're having a lot. Also, you're snacking on almond milk a lot - which would suggest to me that you're not getting enough fat - or protein - in your main meals, as you shouldn't really need to snack by now.

There's really not much meat or fatty meat in your diet, which I think could be a problem - and I doubt that you're getting enough fat altogether.

I've had a bit of a mixed week - I finally got back into Bootcamp after a horrible few weeks with work, and saw a loss of over 3lbs this week - but the weekend at my SILs hasn't been easy, so I'm not weighing tomorrow. I'm going to leave it until next Friday. What's worked for me has been doing 16:8, which I've found surprisingly easy - as well as dropping had become a very calorific 'yoghurt and peanut butter' habit each day!

We move tomorrow onto week 5, and hopefully the scales will start to be kinder to everyone.

I'd like to scoop you all up and give you all a huge hug, and say 'don't worry, KOKO, and you will see the results that you want! Let's look to tomorrow as a fresh start, and put all the slippage and cheating behind us, and paint on a happy face. Remember the adage - 'fake it to make it'! Grin

stuntnun you have been always very helpful with your advice. Thank you Star
You mentioned you don't like the feeling of being in ketosis, would you mind describing what it feels like?

BIWI · 18/06/2017 20:46

Tomorrow

OP posts:
ilovecherries · 18/06/2017 20:50

Today for the first time since starting BC I felt a bit 'munchy' all afternoon. Then discovered DH had made our breakfast/lunch low fat. He didn't realised that I no longer dry fried or used one cal sprays when making a cooked breakfast. Was really surprised at the difference it made in terms of satiety.

Breakfast: fasting
Lunch: Bacon, posh sausage, egg, tomato with spinach (as above, dry fried and everything blotted on kitchen paper!!!)
Dinner: chicken salad (skin-on chicken thigh with large mixed salad and olive oil), raspberries and creamy coffee
Snacks: salami crisps
Water: lost count, but a lot.

BIWI · 18/06/2017 20:52

Sorry @Naschkatze I missed your post.

Here's some info from the Diet Doctor about dairy and why it can impede weight loss:

Dairy products all contain a varying amount of lactose (the milk sugar), which slows down weight loss. What’s more, part of the protein in milk generates an insulin response, which can have the same effect. Consequently, cutting back on dairy products may accelerate weight loss. This applies especially to dairy products typically lacking in fat, such as regular milk and different yoghurts, but be careful with full-fat dairy such as cream and cheese all the same.

Exempt from all these dairy product warnings is butter, which is almost pure fat. Butter may be consumed liberally as desired.

Fell off the wagon this weekend. BIWI, I need a whack with your big stick.

Tomorrow I start afresh, I will do strict bootcamp and I will do the next 6 weeks. I will finish this bootcamp under 13 stone.

C4, you are awesome. I'd love to do the GNR as one of your bitches.

MaryThorne · 18/06/2017 20:58

Evening everyone!

C4 you truly are inspirational! An incredible woman and your positivity is amazing after all the tough times you've been through.

I'm not expecting anything great on the scales in the morning between AF this week and the water retention that Stunt helpfully pointed out is likely from having ramped up the exercise big style Smile

I've been pretty faultless food wise and getting my water in. However, I may have been overdoing the dairy so it's probably worth me trying taking it easy on this coming week and seeing if it makes a difference.

styledilemma · 18/06/2017 21:15

I'm having my promised two glasses of wine.
Boy do they taste sweet but kinda good as well Confused

Usually wine triggers the munchies, so I will consider it a good day if I can have the 2 glasses and not raid the fridge.

Namasta! Wine

OldBooks · 18/06/2017 21:19

Thank you BIWI, interesting that you think I don't have enough fat. The almond milk habit is more of a comfort thing tbh so I can control that. I don't really like meat - all the talk on the thread of pork belly and bacon and ham etc turns my stomach - which is probably why I am over reliant on dairy. Will shift to a predominantly egg and butter based diet Grin

Tonight have had grilled halloumi with veg (slow cooked in lots of coconut oil) and a little berry compote with what remains of my double cream

JiminnyCricket · 18/06/2017 21:20

Re: coconut cream in coffee. I've fine sone testing and by far the best cream substitute is the coconut cream you get in tins or cartons. Blob a tablespoon in and then pour coffee over it to melt it. It's just like cream Smile

JiminnyCricket · 18/06/2017 21:21

*done some

BIWI · 18/06/2017 21:23

You may find, @OldBooks, that your tastes have changed! But you don't have to go straight to the fattiest of meats. Try cooking with fattier mince than you would usually use, for example.

OP posts:
SayrraT · 18/06/2017 21:25

Jiminny I tried it and liked it but I used quite a lot of coconut cream and decided it was too expensive compared to cream. What do you do with the milk (the clear liquid bit) that's left?

readyforno2 · 18/06/2017 21:36

C4 you really are an inspiration. I second what BIWI said, I would be honoured to have a friend with the strength and determination that you have shown.

Thanks for the comments about the photo, I'm so pleased. I stupidly sent my dh a photo before I had put my bra on, he did not notice the jeans! Blush

JiminnyCricket · 18/06/2017 21:36

sayrra I mix it all together and give it a shake before use, so it's all sort of combined when I add it to the coffee ;) the Tesco ingredients coconut cream is about 50p a can and half a can does one coffee :)

Naschkatze · 18/06/2017 21:38

Thanks Biwi and Jim. Will try the coconut cream for coffee. Unfortunately I've already planned a couple of meals with cream/cheese this week but will stick to it for those meal times rather than snacks too.

I guess it will be a lot of eggs for breakfast to take the place of yoghurt.

Mandelinka · 18/06/2017 21:43

This Grin

I think maybe the Namaste Bitches might have to do the great north run with you C4.

YoLoZammo · 18/06/2017 21:46
