I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

I've done a few BCs now and the threads have been so helpful and supportive! Really appreciate all the effort made by BIWI and Sayrra and Stuntnun, wombat is always there to help with the spreadsheet amongst other helpful advice and many long-term LCers who answer questions etc.

I couldn't do it half as well without the threads, I do sometimes have to lurk as don't have time to post with work and family and I'm terrible at remembering everyone's names but I do read all the posts and am grateful for everyone's contributions. Lots of tips and recipes I'd never have found otherwise.

The tricky bit with people posting their cheats is when someone has cheated a lot and then loses weight and I have to say that can lead me to think well if x can eat came and lose maybe I can too. Probably says more about my willpower!!Smile

nekobus · 29/05/2017 11:40

'came' = 'cake' and x-post with wombat re cheating

OldBooks · 29/05/2017 11:49

nekobus, I love my Bullet journal, I use it to list all sorts of lchf recipe ideas and write myself notes about how it is going, what to change next week etc.

Thanks Heman, I do focus on the negative, fact is I am 5 lbs lighter than when I started 3 weeks ago and feel so much better in myself so I should focus on that!

Nigellas that is a really good tip, I always feel shitty after stress eating so trying hard to remember that would be a good technique. I have been saying to myself 'how will eating that Chocolate actually help me to deal with the DC?' I will have sabotaged myself and they will still be mardy! I am very scared of being a horrible shouty mum like mine was so I would rather cram down the negativity with biscuits.

Oh, and I forgot to give the East Mids wave to C4 and Captain B 👋

Big thumbs up for those of you celebrating losses! Onwards and downwards!

(Does anyone else want that on a tshirt?)

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 11:52

Of course it's disrespectful if people list the junk and takeways that they have eaten and happily tell us all that they lost weight. Very demoralising for those trying their hardest.

AvaCrowder2 · 29/05/2017 11:56

Thanks for the new thread Sayrra Flowers

It's so encouraging to see how well everybody has done and the positivity going into week two.

L238 · 29/05/2017 12:00

Very many thanks to all who put in such hard work to run these boot camps. I'm finding the support and solidarity really helpful Flowers

Mandelinka · 29/05/2017 12:01

SayrraT
Thank you for the new thread and reminding us of all the rules, very helpful 👍

BIWI · 29/05/2017 12:01

I'm also very aware that people don't always appreciate the big stick, or my tone, etc GrinWink

But I can't help that. I see my role as someone who should call people out when they're saying/doing something that's inappropriate for Bootcamp.

And I'm very grateful to StuntNun, wombattoo and SayrraT for all the support they provide

Ultimately, though, the success of each Bootcamp is down to those who take part - even if they don't manage to make it all the way through all 10 weeks.

I'm no expert, but I think that the more you weigh the more (and quicker) you lose?
If you aren't very overweight then you are going to lose it more slowly, so don't be despondent if you are only dropping a pound or a couple of pounds at a time.
The rate of weight loss It's right for you

styledilemma · 29/05/2017 12:08

4lbs down.
If I can lose 1 - 2lbs a week I'll be more than happy.

Well done everybody!

PlymouthMaid1 · 29/05/2017 12:09

I am going to be a martyr to the lchf cause today as j am going out now armed with a huge choc brownie cake and strawberries for my daughter's birthday and not planniing on having any. It makes me a bit nervous serving cake I haven't tested myself though.

Had a coffee with cream and coconut oil this morning instead of breakfast which was surprisingly satisfying as I am only just getting peckish now and out lo lunch to Asian street food places which seems to have a lot of veggie dishes without bad carbs.

styledilemma · 29/05/2017 12:10

BIWI we need your big stick. It's working, so don't not throw away that stick. Smile

Fortunatepiggy · 29/05/2017 12:14

Weighed yesterday and posted and joined so will wait until next weeks weigh in but pleased with weight loss of 11 lbs since I started on 20 April

Blueberries and yoghurt so far for me today

Tuna bake for lunch I think or tuna salad

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 12:28

Blimey Fortunate 11 lbs since 20th April Shock. That is amazing.

I'm watching the Good Food channel - it's Tom Kerridge Day! Has anyone got his Dopamine Diet recipe book? I wondered if it was good for LCing?

BIWI · 29/05/2017 12:31

Yes, I have that book - it's based on low carbing and there are some lovely recipes in it. Some of them are a bit high in carbs, so you need to be careful in the first couple of weeks of Bootcamp. He also uses a lot of artificial sweeteners, which I was surprised by - however, it's a book for 'life' not just a diet, IYSWIM

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 12:38

ThankSue BIWI. I've had a look on line but can only find the same 3 or 4 recipes in the publicity articles. There is a Shepherd's pie recipe with cauliflower mash topping that has 22g of carbs per portion Confused. I may order it and have a look.

Tom is making pork scratchings and pickled quails eggs on TV now Grin.

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 12:39

I have nothing to thank Sue for right now Confused. My phone obviously does.

styledilemma · 29/05/2017 12:41

B Fried egg, mushrooms and a medium sized tomato.
L Celery with gouda cheese. Bowl of Total ff yoghurt.
Dinner, need to have a think Hmm

MyShinyThing · 29/05/2017 12:55

I have the Tom Kerridge book Heman. I also have 2 other low carb recipe books & I'm yet to cook anything from any of them! This has more to do with my laziness & CBA attitude to cooking though than the quality of the books!

I've just had a flick through it & it looks like most of his main meal recipes come out at about 20g or higher of carbs per portion. So probably okay for maintenance or BCL rather than proper bootcamp. I may have to try his tiramisu recipe at some point in the future!

Just wanted to second how fantastic all those involved in organising BC are & all those who keep the thread alive & give such good advice & support. I tend to lurk more than post but am trying to get a bit more involved this time as I feel a lot more accountable when I do.

I've just made mushroom pizzas for lunch to have with salad, very much looking forward to it!

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 13:02

Thanks Shiny. I wonder why they are so high in carbs? The 3 or 4 recipes I found on line were all around the 20g mark. I do like a nice shiny new cook book to browse. I may drag out my Niger Slater books. He's always good for recipes with lashings of oil, cream and butter Smile.

Fortunatepiggy · 29/05/2017 13:06

Thanks Herman. I've found it easy which has helped although I did go to a dinner out in the w/e where there was v little lo carb option so had a beef curry with salad and the teeniest tiniest bit of rice as it was so spicy so I think that might show up on the scales soon😩

I have the dopamine book which is good but some of the recipes are a bit posh and faffy with obscure ingredients!

Fortunatepiggy · 29/05/2017 13:08

Sorry Heman not Herman!

MyShinyThing · 29/05/2017 13:11

I might be being unfair actually, there are also quite a few around the 15g mark as well.

Looking at the carbier ones he's using onions, so I guess you could substitute for shallots. He also cooks with honey, wine, carrot etc so while there are no "white carbs" there are higher carb ingredients.

I also have the Real Meal Revolution recipe book which has some really interesting science & facts in it. So I have read it even if I haven't cooked from it yet Blush. & I have the kids cookbook to go with it! I'm a bit of a fiend for recipe books even if I don't use them that often!

GetReady · 29/05/2017 13:19

Omelette for lunch (with double cream!) nom nom

Week 2 - Pre-summer low carb bootcamp
HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 13:22

I've got stacks of cookbooks. I inherited my Mum and Dad's collection so I have some Keith Floyd, 2 Fat Ladies, Ken Hom's first book, Queen Delia to name but a few. Some of them have still got my Dad's little pieces of paper tucked in them with shopping lists, timings and tips Smile.
