I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

Shasta you have illustrated the reason why I am trying not to weigh too often - weight will go up and down on a daily basis, so don't be despondent. Also, at 144 lbs, unless you are only 4'2", you can't have too much to lose, so it will be slower for you.Flowers

Food today:
B: creamy coffee x2
L: salad, chicken thighs, maybe egg mayonnaise
D: pork, with lovely crackling and veg. Will skip the roasties.
S: don't know yet, will see how it goes.

Veryflummoxed · 29/05/2017 09:53

Shasta it never works the same for everyone. I have very slow losses and that one of the reasons I'm not weighing this time, however there are enough non scale victories to keep me going (most of the time) and I love the food if raspberries is all you're missing they'll be back soon
💐for everyone who was less than happy with their weigh in. The whoosh fairy will come.
Congratulations everyone else.
I've attached this weeks picture.

mummymacphee · 29/05/2017 10:12

Thanks Chester and others for your encouragement. I'm so glad I posted and it's good to hear from others in the same boat. I have enjoyed my food this week and haven't found it much of a struggle - haven't really craved anything sweet at all. Just going to get my head down and get on with it for another week and hope for better results next week!

ShastaBeast · 29/05/2017 10:20

I guess I'm proving the whole calories in calories out being a simple calculation is a load of bollocks. Although I lost much faster in the past using weight watchers/pure calorie counting from a similar weight. I'm working out more which could impact the scales, I took measurements last week so can monitor against that. I will carry on Sunday weigh ins but I can see not weighing could be good once I've properly settled into this type of diet. I'm aiming to lose 18lb which could take to the end of the year at this rate. Reducing meds is possible but may impact sleep and cause other problems. I'm not taking much so don't have a lot of leeway.

Craftypuss · 29/05/2017 10:20

Stunned with this week's weightloss! I've been low carbing for nearly a year, so not expecting any dramatic losses during bootcamp - was really just hoping it would get me past a long stall. Looks like I'd let things slip more than I thought!
Thank you SO much to all those involved in organising this! Flowers
Now , must go and organise roast pork with LOADS of crackling, our bank holiday treat. Then a quiet afternoon for me while husband watches the football somewhere not quiet!

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 10:21

I completely agree that these threads are really supportive with Time. I did BC in 2015 and it was all a bit odd for me. Posters demanding that others didn't mention their slip ups as the weeks went on because it 'triggered' them. Also demanding that posters didn't mention certain foods because they couldn't eat them due to intolerances etc. Flouncing, dramatic announcements of having to 'leave the thread'. Very weird Confused.

I know this WOE throws up stuff around eating and food. God knows I have struggles of my own. But really, people should be able to post what they like and get support. I see it as an opportunity to read about other posters experiences and learn something.

ShastaBeast · 29/05/2017 10:22

Oh and I seem to be weeing loads again!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 29/05/2017 10:23

3.2lb off here to take me down to 146lb. I'm very happy with that. To be honest, as long as I can keep knocking it off at 1-2lb week for the rest of boot camp I will be completely ecstatic!

B: something with eggs
L: courgette and feta fritters
D: TBC but will be within the rules Smile

bellalurgy · 29/05/2017 10:27

Yes, thanks to the organisers Grin It's lovely to find a supportive group to low carb with.

My loss was 1lb BUT this is week 15 or 16 for me. I didn't weigh for the first 100 days and I think I'm going to go back to just weighing monthly. I desperately need to lose weight but it's the NSV's that keep me on this. I don't like weighing weekly as I find it discouraging, especially with this way of eating.

Congratulations to everyone else Star I read all the posts and some of the names are beginning to 'stick'. BC is great motivation and I love reading how you're all doing - and how everyone's different!

Brunch will be leftover egg/veg muffin type things
Dinner, pork belly and veg
Snacks, not sure
2 creamy coffees and an almond milk hot chocolate

Keep going everyone, it's worth it x

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 10:27

And me Shasta! DP just asked me if I am OK as I am wearing a path to the bathroom.

C4pinkwheels · 29/05/2017 10:41

Sayrra Thank you for the lovely new thread.

Well done to everyone who has lost lbs and inches, hurrah for those who are entering week two with new resolve and no excuses. Flowers for everyone having a tough time and despite following the rules are disappointed KOKO, I remember from my Atkins days that it said "don't be disappointed if you don't lose lbs, you will have lost inches" it also advocated frequent weighing because of daily fluctuations so please don't give up.

Huzzah I've managed to shed 3.7lbs, I'm now tantalisingly close to being 10st something for the first time in many years, roll on week 2.

I'm finding the support of this thread invaluable, it's so nice being among others who are on the same journey.

ASDismynormality · 29/05/2017 10:41

Heman. I'm glad the last bootcamp wasn't like that and hope it doesn't happen to this one! I'm really enjoying this WOE and the support from here makes it even easier.

thenightsky · 29/05/2017 10:43

4lb gone. Excellent for me.

YoLoZammo · 29/05/2017 10:44

I've joined!!
Can't wait to look slimmer, feel fitter and healthier. I'm new to LC and have been schooled in low fat all my life so have lots to learn. Love veg so not missing carbs too much though I am sugar addicted Blush

Couple of questions:
With all the eggs and saturated fat from butter and meat, how will this affect my cholesterol?
I have hypertension so will keep an eye on my BP. The electrolytes (if I take them) and extra salt from ham, bacon, chorizo etc goes against the low salt advice from my gp -not that I follow this too religiously-- so how do I deal with this?

L238 · 29/05/2017 10:47

3.2lb off for me. More pleased about the 1.5 inches off my waist and 0.5in off my ginormous and disproportionate hips.

Some amazing losses here, well done everyone
Had a lie in & only had black coffee here today so far but will go and make some brunch just now. Pork belly later - seems a lot of us are making that today Grin

C4pinkwheels · 29/05/2017 10:47

Shastabeast it's always going to be different for those of us with health challenges, 18lbs off by the end of the year could so easily be 18lbs on by the end of the summer. I know meds can make a huge difference to metabolism and digestion so be kind to yourself, the challenge is different for us Flowers

C4pinkwheels · 29/05/2017 10:51

Yolo you can choose meat and fish that isn't salt heavy, salmon, mackerel, lamb and high fat choices such as avocado. Good luck

SayrraT · 29/05/2017 10:54

Heman every BC is different. I commented to BIWI that the last BC was really nice. I think that the 2015 one was maybe the one that made poor BIWI think about giving up on it.

I am so glad she didn't Flowers

3lbs off and very pleased with that. Seeing it as a marathon, not a sprint. Had friends over last night and did a cold buffet so I could choose what worked for me. Avoided the delicious bread, hummus and falafels. Had one glass of prosseco and a few strawberries and blueberries with yogurt (avoided the more carby pud), which are obviously off-plan, but feeling fine about it, and will get back on to bootcamp rules today.
Finding the forum motivating and supportive, don't think I'd find this so doable on my own. Well done everyone for making it through the first week!

BIWI · 29/05/2017 11:05

Every Bootcamp is different!

However, it's important to point out that it can be seriously difficult for some posters when others are (seemingly gleefully) detailing all their cheats.

When it has become so, and people are telling me they're upset about it, I do have to do something about it, because these threads have to work for everyone.

Smile

This Bootcamp seems to be going well (apart from all the cheating!). We've made it to week 2 without a falling out.

There was one where I nearly pulled it before we'd even finished the first week Grin

wombattoo · 29/05/2017 11:10

Yes. I remember that bc. There was a separate thread so 'regulars' could discuss going off piste.

BIWI puts a lot of effort into running the camps, and I think sometimes people don't realise that this is not her job. She doesn't get paid and has a very busy working/family life of her own.
The spreadsheet is a nightmare to set up - I know as I have tried, yet Sayrra makes time to set it up for us, even when she doesn't have time to join the bc.
StuntNun provides excellent advice and gives us all the 'sciency' advice.

I am very grateful Thanks

I have been on the bc threads for a number of years and they can vary a lot. You get out what you put in. There were quite a few posters who really embraced this on the last bc. You know who you are. That kept the threads alive and provided lots of support.

I know that there are many who lurk on these threads but never post and I'm sure it is very useful for them.

So let's do this. koko (Not Nigerian pussy) Grin

wombattoo · 29/05/2017 11:11

it took me so long to post that epic, I x posted Blush

AdalindSchade · 29/05/2017 11:19

Thank you to BIWI, sayra and everyone else who makes bootcamp happen!
People need to be able to post mistakes on the support thread otherwise there is no accountability and the 'recovery journey' (recovery from carb and sugar addiction) will flounder. We do have to be wary though of getting into being too permissive about carb creep because that loses the point of the endeavour. It's a balance. Maybe I'm taking it too seriously

Veryflummoxed · 29/05/2017 11:23

I've been bootcamping since last May. All threads different. All supportive. I'm so grateful for them and for the effort put in. BIWI I think you do a fantastic job of wielding the stick when necessary.

wombattoo · 29/05/2017 11:24

I think problems come about when a poster has stuck to the rules and not seen a loss, yet someone else can post that they have 'cheated' eating and drinking all sorts but still have a good loss.
It demoralises many people.

I can see both sides
