So our last week! Here's the Spreadsheet for its penultimate outing

One more week could see another couple of pounds off.

Fingers crossed, and good luck! Flowers

This is the Sunday menu, we could go on Sunday, what do you think?

boatgirl81 · 12/04/2017 10:17

Eating out is so tricky isn't it! I would probably go for the Salmon and leave the mash but not sure if that is the best option. Or maybe the black pudding dish and leave the croutons or the chicken and mushroom salad?

We are going away for 4 days on Monday and am terrified about undoing all my good work. Typical cheap and cheerful Haven holiday camp with the kids and it's normally fish and chips, ice cream sundaes, doughnuts, cream teas, basically anything naughty you can think of!

boatgirl81 · 12/04/2017 10:20

Second thoughts, black pudding would probably be too carby?

LazydaysofSummer · 12/04/2017 10:50

Hesdead Personally I'd go for Garlic Mushroom or Ploughmans for starters, ask them to hold or just leave the bread, followed by Chicken and Mushroom salad, avoiding the croutons. Hope you have a lovely time.

Can anyone recommend a good app to use to monitor my carb, fat, protein balance post boot camp, please ?

Hesdeadjim · 12/04/2017 11:08

LazydaysofSummer I use my fitness pal for tracking, you can customise your target macro's so I aim for 70% fat, 20% protein and 10% carb on bootcamp light, then reduce carbs to 25g (about 6%) on full bootcamp :)

Hesdeadjim · 12/04/2017 12:39

Menu for today:

Coffee with double cream

Chicken Caesar salad (half an avocado, salad leaves, 4 cherry tomatoes, Caesar dressing, Parmesan and chicken breast pieces)

Cheddar burgers (ff beef mince with ff cheddar in the middle) with salad

macros attached :)

Joining for inspiration and accountability. Hesdeadjim Im loving your frequent posts and your weight loss dress photo. Well done you.

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 12/04/2017 13:24

Hi FinallyHere would love to buddy up with you, give me a shout via PM if you want.

I had egg mayo salad with 30g grated red Leicester (small handful of grated carrots, half a tomato, mixed green leaves and cucumber). I was full by about half way and left about a quarter of it. Is that the fat from the mayo? I was very liberal! Blush

Honestly I'm really doubting that this will work. The salad was so good. It can't possibly be diet food Confused

Mollii · 12/04/2017 14:19

Happy I get very full very quick from protein and fat combo. Its not like being full on carbs cause with carbs you can push yourself to keep on eating as its tongue pleasure but overeating fats and protein just doesnt have the same appeal somehow.

wombattoo · 12/04/2017 17:15

Welcome to newbies Smile

Happy If you are in the early stages, watch out for the carrot. It is quite a carby veg.

In relation to whether this woe works after multiple attempts - I Ama long term low carber. Some have been more successful than others. I have faffed around on this one and not committed to it so have lost/regained the same few pounds. This has happened before so it doesn't put me off. I will get back into it and will see good losses again.

I think everyone should be pleased with themselves simply for still being here at the end. You only have to see the number of posters who sign up for a bootcamp but are never seen again after the first week Grin
On top of that - there have been some spectacular losses.

Happy you just need to trust the science. You can do a bit of reading to help you understand why it works. There is loads of stuff available on the internet.

Hesdeadjim · 12/04/2017 17:25

Happy if you go back to week 1's thread you'll see my first post when I told this lot that they were all mad and i was going to gain a stone in a week eating the way they were telling me to Blush

I'm typing this 21lbs lighter than I was then and I've enjoyed every single meal Grin

DO what I did: Just say to yourself right, I'll do this for a week just to prove them all wrong. Then come back to us and tell us we're all bonkers Wink

Sunnymorning20 · 12/04/2017 17:32

Wow, delicious meal just now.

Cut up chicken breast into chunks, fry in butter. I blitzed half a cauli in my blender to make a rice like mix. Put that into the microwave for 7 minutes to cook. Once the chicken was cooked I added one red and and one yellow pepper to the pan, chopped. Then I added more butter and tipped the cooked cauli in. Sprinkled chilli powder, curry powder, paprika, turmeric and salt and pepper and mixed it all in. Cooked / fried for a further 20 mins stirring all the time to stop it sticking. It looked a mess but It was delicious. I shared the pan full with DH. He loved it too. I'm not sure what it was but it worked!

Sunnymorning20 · 12/04/2017 17:46

Just thinking it may be on the carby side though 🙈

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 12/04/2017 19:35

Hesdeadjim for your wedgewwod trip think you should read the small print.

"Should you have any dietary requirements or are concerned about food allergies, you are invited to ask one of our team members for assistance when selecting menu items. "

Looks like a quick email regarding your Low Carb High Fat Dietary requirement might be something they could help with.

Perhaps you could start a trend.

FYI saw another new number 210 aka 15 stone a BMI fatty again.

Kids say I'm not fat but a waist of 37inches soon proved that wrong.

Hesdeadjim · 12/04/2017 20:15

Grah0SoontobeaFatty I feel a bit weird about requesting it as a dietary requirement to be honest. It's not really is it? I'm not allergic to carbs and I can work around it :) I'm viewing it as a challenge ;)

Crap day today. Food wise I've been fine but had some shitty comments about my weight from colleagues (see AIBU) and I'm feeling a bit meh now.

I've eaten my dinner and had a couple of squares of dark chocolate after and I feel ok.

Dogs think they are helping me feel better but I'm convinced they think I'm part of the sofa Hmm

Just catching up with the thread, but more good losses, well done everyone.
boat well done, that's my next target, I'm about 5 lbs off. I am very, very tall though 5'2" Grin It is annoying how we more petite people show excess weight more easily.
Jim what about the salmon fillet without the mash? I'm sure they would do extra veg or the chicken and mushroom salad.
Lazy I also use MFP when I want to check my carb count. I don't do it often though as I think if you stick to the rules you don't need to.
Happy agree with wombat, just be careful with the carrots but welcome. If you are sceptical, have a look at the bottom of the spreadsheet of fabulousness and look at some of the books, blogs and articles linked there. The John Briffa book is especially convincing.
Sunny sounds lovely, maybe just a swap the pepper for something else next time.

Had a busy few days back at work, but still on track.
Had pimiento cheesy meatballs and veg on Monday, spinach and mushroom omelette last night and fish pie with cauli mash tonight.
I think the scales may finally be starting to move again...

CaptainBraandPants · 12/04/2017 20:30

Hesdead I posted on your other thread and requested doggy photos and you complied Grin
Flowers for you and you really are doing brilliantly. Be proud of your cream pot.

Sunnymorning20 · 12/04/2017 20:35

Thanks Captain, it may have been too carby, ive been ravenous the past hour. I've had a cup of tea with a dash of milk. Not the best option I know but I won't sleep if I'm hungry.

Today's food is as follows, can someone tell me if its ok please?

Breakfast was 2 eggs scrambled with butter. Lunch was a Chinese tub full of lettuce and cucumber with a tin of tuna and about 2 tablespoons of full fat Mayo. Tea was the chicken, pepper and cauliflower rice / spicy concoction cooked in butter.

Hesdeadjim · 13/04/2017 06:43

Sunnymorning20 that's seems ok to me except the peppers which are pretty carby.

I'd also probably have added more fat to your dinner, that's why you were hungry.

Smile
Hesdeadjim · 13/04/2017 07:18

Just been analysing my weight loss graph to give myself a bit of a boost after a run in with colleagues about my weight and diet yesterday.. I'm rather proud of this :)

The blue circle is where I ditched weight watchers and started LCHF.

Red circle is when I stopped tracking what I ate on MFP and the yellow circle is where I started tracking again.

It's so clear that I need to track my food. I know it's not bootcamp and I shouldn't need to, but I think I have too many deep seated issues with food that I need to tackle and at the moment it's too early to trust myself to just 'know' when I've eaten enough.

My weight loss has sped up again this week and I saw 16st 10lbs for the first time this morning! Hoping that continues :)

Menu:
Coffee with cream
Gravadlax with avocado and salad
Rump steak, roasted broccoli and some form of cheese, probably Stilton Grin

Macros attached. What's everyone else eating?

ASDismynormality · 13/04/2017 08:53

Hesdead. When I've been out to eat I ask to change the carb element to salad.

My diabetes prevention program 12 week course starts on Tuesday next week - great timing to keep the motivation going!

CaptainBraandPants · 13/04/2017 09:27

Sunny apart from the peppers, your menu looks fine. In fact, your lunch is almost identical to mine today - I would also have an oily dressing on your salad. I have one which is 3 parts olive oil to 1 part white wine vinegar and then a smidgen of wholegrain mustard. Keep away from balsamic vinegar as that is too carby.
Great chart Hesdead
ASD it'll be interesting to see what your course advocates, i hope they don't push the low fat, high carb diet at you. I think the more enlightened diabetologists are starting to promote the lchf woe.
After a few hectic days at work, I've got a quieter day today. Sloping off early to get my hair cut. They tend to give customers homemade chocolate brownie, which I shall have to resist.

Food today will e:
B - creamy coffee x2
L - tuna mayonaise salad
D - butter chicken with cauli rice

ASDismynormality · 13/04/2017 09:39

Captain how do you make Butter chicken?
When I had my first assessment they were happy with the LCHF approach as it's working well. I will be given a folder with the recommended diet so yes will be interesting to see what's in it. As long as the data is good (weight loss and lower blood glucose) I'm sure they won't mind how I get there.

CaptainBraandPants · 13/04/2017 12:33

ASD I use the recipe from the Idiot proof diet cookbook. Although, I'm sure there are plenty of other recipes on line. It is lovely and my mouth is watering now just thinking about it. Grin

CaptainBraandPants · 13/04/2017 12:54

ASD I've just checked and the IPD butter chicken is on the BC recipe thread here posted on 20/04/2012.
