So our last week! Here's the Spreadsheet for its penultimate outing

One more week could see another couple of pounds off.

Fingers crossed, and good luck! Flowers

Hi All, just wanted to sign in here for the last time.
I've had a really crap 10 days. My Dad has been in hospital (again). He has been in more than he has been out in the last month. The logistics of travelling over and the stress involved has just sideswiped me. I was really struggling psychologically last week.
However, he is now home and has finally accepted support and I am feeling better about it all, so am ready to jump right back in. The new bootcamp has come at just the right time for me.
I'm going to weigh tomorrow Sad, then try and leave it as long as possible until I weigh again. Let's see if I can last the full 10 weeks without weighing! I doubt it. Grin

BIWI · 21/05/2017 08:16

Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time, Captain

I am beginning to have a lot of time for the 'not weighing often' option! This week as an experiment I have weighed every day. My weight has fluctuated between 16.1 and 15.11 and back up to 16.1 today! Stupid sodding AF still hasn't come, just a week of bad pmt, cramps and spotting. I think that makes me extra bloated so have been trying to drink lots of water. However I have been a carby twat on several occasions so I am lucky to have just stayed the same as last week. I am going to use bootcamp as a good excuse to start from basics again, and this time I think I need to be more careful with dairy. I plan to restrict it to one dairy meal a day at first and see if that helps. That and write out the phrase "are you really hungry or just bored/stressed/tired" on every cupboard and fridge and tattoo it on my hands

Onwards and upwards. See you on the shiny new thread Smile

JiminnyCricket · 21/05/2017 10:39

My last ever post on this bootcamp Sad

I've posted this on the build up thread but I think it's a nice way to finish my time on this one.

This is what 18st 5lbs down to 16st 11lbs looks like Grin

Thank you so so so much to BIWI and the team and thank you to all of you for keeping me going! I still have a long way to go so I hope to see all of you on the next bootcamp Flowers

Unmumsnetty hugs to all of you! GinGrin

CaptainBraandPants · 21/05/2017 10:47

Thanks BIWI and wombat
Jiminny well done, noticeable difference there. Flowers

Bibs2014 · 21/05/2017 11:09

I'm going to weigh tomorrow and try not to weigh for the whole of the bootcamp too. This daily weighing is really stressing me out Sad

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 21/05/2017 11:13

Sorry to hear that captain

I worked so hard to see 137 on the scales on Friday, had a lamb Saag & a glass of prosecco last night & now I'm back up to 140. Please tell me this is just water weight & will go again soon. I'm absolutely gutted.b

CaptainBraandPants · 21/05/2017 11:17

It is just water weight hippa. Maybe join Bibs and I and stop weighing? easier said than done Grin

ragz134 · 21/05/2017 12:28

Jim fantastic progress photo! Well done.

I had one evening of carby twatness Friday night, went to village charity bingo. Drank wine, won chocolates which we ate and then decided we needed ice cream. Could have been worse and it was my only bad day in ages...
Had some good meals recently. Last night I had broccoli, halloumi and olives. This morning I had boiled egg, asparagus and halloumi.
Weight is stuck again but AF appeared this morning so may be that.
Looking forward to new boot camp!

dustmotesinthesun · 21/05/2017 12:30

Sorry to hear its been tough Captain.

Jiminny, huge difference! So proud of you.

Food going well here today. Mackerel for breakfast. Courgette fritatta for lunch. Maybe beef for supper.

BIWI · 23/05/2017 13:54

Just popping back into this thread to ask you all something - someone on the new Bootcamp asked if there was a FAQ thread. I have a vague recollection of doing one years ago, but have no idea where it will be now, given that this is my 6th year of running Bootcamps Grin

But I think it's a good idea.

So I wanted to ask you for your suggestions as to what should go on there.

So far I've got:

  • how many carbs should we have a day?
  • can I really eat all this fat/won't eating fat make me fat?
  • do we need to count calories?
  • can I eat [x]? (Usually things like sweet potato, oats, lentils, porridge!)
  • how long does Bootcamp last?
  • what are the rules/where can I find the rules?
  • why can't we eat fruit?

It's obviously going to take me a bit of time to write all this, but I want to make sure that it starts off being as comprehensive as I can make it.

Many thanks in grateful anticipation!

I shall add to the list from the many questions I've answered since Monday Grin It's been a bit mad!

  • do i really need to drink all this water
  • will i die if i eat saturated fat
  • The importance of eating enough and why this isnt a restrictive diet
  • WHy it's not like atkins (this wasnt on the thread, but I've "come out" at work and my colleague immediately though it was this)
  • Why am I peeing so much?
  • How long does it take to hit ketosis
CaptainBraandPants · 23/05/2017 14:38

Also:
Why ketosis per se isn't important and linked to that, why you don't need ketostix.
Why weight plateaus often at week 3-4. I think it is worth prewarning about that.
Why we can lose inches when our weight stays the same.
Why can't I do low carb and low fat?
What macro's should I aim for? (If using MFP as lots of people seem to).
What can I do about constipation?

Excuse the grammar, was having a bit of a stream of consciousness moment. Grin

ASDismynormality · 23/05/2017 14:39

-how many carbs per 100g is too much?

JiminnyCricket · 23/05/2017 14:52

ooooh yes yes to why ketosis isnt really important and prewarning about weight stalling.

BIWI · 23/05/2017 15:56

Great suggestions - thanks! That will keep me occupied for a while ... Grin

wombattoo · 23/05/2017 19:54

I was being naughty. Sorry Grin

FinallyHere · 25/05/2017 15:24

Hi, I would like to include something about this being a way of eating, so that 'this is how we eat forever'. Not sure whether the question would be 'what do i do when i get to target' or 'what happens when i want to maintain rather than reduce weight'

This was a big reveal for me last bootcamp (thanks Stuntnun ) for helping me see that if I kept doing LCHF til I get to target, and then revert to what we have come to call 'carby twatness' I would inevitably put all the weight back on again.

I have fallen into 'carby twatness' how do i best get myself back on the waggon?

It might be fun to add in some to reflect lots of people 's experience, including is this to be expected 'my spots have cleared up'. 'I seem to get drunk much more quickly'. I sleep better, i have more energy. OK , those might just be me.

Thanks again, BIWI et al

BIWI · 25/05/2017 16:09

Great suggestions. Just need a quiet week to write all that Grin
