Welcome all!

I see that there are almost 130 of us signed up for this one, which is brilliant.

I'm starting the week 1 thread a little early, as I'm away this evening and won't be back home until mid-morning tomorrow, and I know you all want to get cracking Grin

So, without further ado, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

If your name isn't on it, just add yourself at the bottom. Don't worry about the alphabetisation - wombattoo will sort that out later. Add your weight, but don't touch the blue cells!

It's up to you when you weigh; I'll start a new chat thread each Monday, with a link to the spreadsheet, but if you feel happier weighing on a Friday (or any other day) then it's totally up to you.

Marking place as starting next week Smile

Pengweng · 26/10/2016 07:38

Correction

I will be carving pumpkins and not pimps Grin

Poppiesway · 26/10/2016 07:43

Sorry biwi, I didn't think of that

girlrunningoncheese · 26/10/2016 07:48

Day 2 went well:

B - BPC & egg muffins
L - beef mince & veg thing
D - baked cod with celeriac dauphinoise & salad
2.5 litres of water

I tend to eat the same things for brekkie & lunch as I batch cook and take them into the office. Prefer not having to think too hard about what to eat!

girlrunningoncheese · 26/10/2016 07:49

peng - "pimpkins" made me Grin

girlrunningoncheese · 26/10/2016 07:52

On a related note - is anyone following the Tim Noakes 'trial' in South Africa? He got himself in trouble for advising a breastfeeding mum on Twitter to wean her baby onto LCHF (aka "real foods") - pretty bonkers really. But it's basically turning into a defence of low carb eating in general which is really interesting. A journalist called Marita Sboros is live tweeting the whole thing. I have mostly been following her feed rather than doing any work Blush

PopGoesTheFuckingWeasel · 26/10/2016 08:04

Morning ladies!

Talk about old habits being hard to break...

One of DS' leftover smileys was an inch from my mouth yesterday...I just forgot!

Never mind a support thread- I need you lot behind me with a thousand big sticks Grin

Anyhoo...yesterday's food:

B. Creamy mushrooms and feta
L: Shrimp with ff mayo and rocket
D: Pork chop with spinach and green beans

And I struggled to get that down! I've learned that the amount I was eating before is not because I have a big appetite...it's because I'm a greedy pig! 😁 I've started listening to my body now.

I just hope it shows on the scales come Monday

BIWI · 26/10/2016 08:12

That's OK Poppies Smile

by the way, just in case any of you haven't come across these yet, Sainsbury's are now selling Bare Naked Noodles

These are also known as shirataki noodles, if you're buying in a Japanese shop - they're a noodle made from konjac flour, which comes from the Japanese yam (nothing like the vegetable that we might call a yam).

They're brilliant for a low carb meal, as they are only 0.1g carbs per 100g. I also sometimes use them in place of spaghetti.

They do have a funny smell when you take them out of the packet, but as long as you rinse them well and then cook them a bit more in whatever sauce or soup base you're using, you really can't taste anything.

Very sorry to hear about your loss Sestra Flowers

BC is going well for me do far! Meals for the last couple of days include leftover rare roast beef on baby spinach leaves with ff cream cheese, chicken skewers with leek & celery sautéed in lashings of butter, and this morning a luscious omelette made with ff cream and leftover celeriac mash and spinach leaves. Tonight is celeriac dauphinoise with steak.

Who the hell calls this a diet?! Yum!

nekobus · 26/10/2016 08:36

Day 2 wasn't too bad, but I clearly have a snacking habit to break!!

Yesterday:
B - bacon, eggs, mushrooms fried in butter, tea and soya milk
L - avocado, dressing, olives, cucumber slices topped with LC pate
D - steak, mushrooms with garlic butter, cauli, broccoli, salad leaves and dressing
S - chunk of brie, babybel, hb egg & mayo, more brie, more babybel, coffee with cream

Water about 2L

Today's plan:
B - 2 hb eggs and butter, tea and soya, coffee and cream
L - omelette with cheese and ham
D - roast chicken pieces, LC veg,

nekobus · 26/10/2016 08:37

Sestra, so sorry to hear of your loss. Look after yourself Flowers

PaulineFowlersGrowler · 26/10/2016 08:56

Sestra Flowers

Day 2 was much better snack wise.

breakfast Fries holloumi cheese with mushrooms fried in butter.
lunch I wasn't hungry so I just had a bowl of green salad with dressing and some bites of Mexican cheddar (straight from the block Blush)
dinner was LCHF Bolognese with courgetti.
I had 3 or 4 creamy coffees so I still need to cut down, but no other snacks!

I think today is going to be hard, I've woke up with a stinking cold and I'm due on. Positive vibes this way please!

PaulineFowlersGrowler · 26/10/2016 08:58

That should read FRIED holloumi. Not fries. Wishful thinking!

BiskettiBollockNose · 26/10/2016 09:08

Morning.

All I can think of, now, and for the last 2 days is food. Eating. I can smell toast. I've noticed that I eat because I'm bored/emotional/hungry (note the order). I've also noticed that after eating, the hungry feeling passes if I wait and don't keep on filling my face. But all I think of is the next thing I can eat.

I've made the mistake of weighing...

Yesterday was good.

Today is not.

What's the point?

margaritasbythesea · 26/10/2016 09:42

Your body is adjusting Bisketti. Give it a bit of time. My weight, dietng or not, can fluctuate day on day by several pounds, depending articularly on time of the month and time of day.

I am far from an expert but I think general advice is if you are hungry to eat more fat and make sure you are drinking all of your water.

Polkadotties · 26/10/2016 09:53

I weigh myself every day but I know that fluctuations can happen. One day last week I gained a pound and the next day lost 5, I've been half heartedly low carbing for a while.
Don't give up after two days bisketti

PaulineFowlersGrowler · 26/10/2016 10:02

Bisketti I feel your pain. Eating punctuated my day, it was something to look forward to. It was my reward to myself. Now the day seems to drag, I was feeling quite blue yesterday. This too shall pass.

I also made the mistake of weighing myself this morning, I've been LCHF since Saturday so I expected at least a pound loss, even if it was just water. nada. Nothing. I think I've been seduced by the stories of dramatic weight loss in the first week.

zobalina77 · 26/10/2016 10:10

Today is my first day due to being away. My fridge is bursting with meat, butter, cream and veg! I've had scrambled eggs with cream and butter for breakfast. I had a cup of tea with a tiny splash of milk (figured it would be ok as i only have 1 cup a day) but I went without the sweetener I usually have in it.

Lunch will be tuna mayo salad but I have no clue over what to do for dinner yet.

SweetBabyJebus · 26/10/2016 10:16

Don't lose heart Bisketti, the first few days can be hard, but it is totally, totally worth it. I have lost 45lbs since May. I have been overweight my entire adult life, have tried every diet going, have done the weightwatchers and slimming worlds, took slimming pills, you name it. All i did was gain more weight. This way works! And it definitely gets easier. I felt pretty shit my first week in May and almost threw in the towel as yet another fad that wasn't going to get me results. So, so glad I kept going. Once you break the sugar/carb cravings, it'll all fall into place hopefully.

SweetBabyJebus · 26/10/2016 10:25

Oh and stop weighing daily. I fell into that trap too initially, and git very disheartened. Weight will go up and down naturally over the course of a day or two, and I always seem to stall a bit before a massive woosh. I always weigh first thing in the morning after morning, ahem, ablutions so I know I am literally at the lightest I could be! So maybe try weighing only twice a week.

BiskettiBollockNose · 26/10/2016 11:03

Thank you folks. I've been this weight (albeit) a few lbs +/- for 5+ years. My last pg seemed to totally blow my metabolism. It's so hard when DH can eat what he wants- and stay the same. I'd love to lose 2st - 3st I think, is not doable.

I lost loads before getting married- 1/2st a week was falling off. Never been able to stick to anything since. (This was South Beach). I've tried SW, MFP, WW, LC, 5:2. If I don't see good results, I give up. And it's so hard with a family/different dietary requirements/work.

Anyone use Ketostix? When should you start seeing ketones?

Cheers- glad I'm doing this with your help! Grin

Polkadotties · 26/10/2016 11:28

I use Ketostix and I saw results yesterday after a carb heavy weekend. However, I have low carbed on and off for a long time and my body gets back in fat adapted mode quite quickly.
You don't have to use Ketostix, if you are drinking plenty of water the ketones might not register as they are diluted.

I have the headache from hell today. Is this normal in first few days of low carbing?
