Week 4 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp: are you KOKO?!

BIWI · 06/06/2016 07:40

Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Doom Fabulousness

Week 3 might not have been kind to you - and here's the warning that week 4 might be the same Sad

But hopefully by now you're starting to adjust to low carbing, and should be feeling some of the other benefits, even if the scales are resolutely ignoring you!

If you're struggling, come here and tell us about it. Don't self-sabotage by thinking 'oh fuck it' and diving into the carbs!

Why can't I post!

SayrraT · 06/06/2016 10:36

Argh, why did that post but my other longer post won't!

AuntieMaggie · 06/06/2016 10:51

Morning. I'm down to 100.2kg so 0.3kg loss... still at least it's a loss right?!

Back at work today so back to my usual food and I may ubercamp for the next three days so...

BFAST 2 scrambled eggs and mushrooms fried in butter
Lunch prawns, avocado, spinach, cucumber and mayo
Dinner 2 pork chops fried with brocolli

WanHeda I may have to pay more attention to what you're eating! Well done!

CiderwithBuda Let me know what you think about the low carb med diet... I had a cancerous tumour removed in October so am interested in what it involves. One of the reasons I love this woe is that I'm putting less crap in my body!

Here's to another week ladies Smile

blackteaplease · 06/06/2016 10:54

Morning all. I shifted last week's gain and am almost 10 stone today. . 7 lbs to target weight! Koko

BursarsFrogs · 06/06/2016 11:04

Excellent losses, even if smaller than previous weeks.

I'm stuck home waiting for a window man. It's a lovely hot day. So I attempted to make some ice cream. The only ingredients in it are double cream, a bit of cocoa powder, and some vanilla. It was yummy, but if I was to make more, I'd probably add a tiny bit of stevia or some other sweetener.

WanHeda · 06/06/2016 11:11

AuntieMaggie - I have a lot of weight to lose, which is probably why I am losing it quickly. Peoples start weights are my goal weight! Grin

SingToMeInFrench · 06/06/2016 12:43

Well done on the losses!

I STS...I know, I know - I need to KOKO and not self sobbotage. I'm going to post my food daily as well, in case I'm making siloy mistakes I am missing. AF is due any day now, so hopefully a better loss next week.

Only 3lbs off in 3 weeks. I have lost 15lbs since Janurary - I was 204 lbs and I've been dabbling with low carb but not seriously until boot camp 3 weeks ago.

PlayNice · 06/06/2016 13:00

Congratulations for all the weight loss acd great efforts everyone is making!

NotdeadyetBOING · 06/06/2016 13:04

Welcome, Sprink! I am fairly new too - only part way through my second week.

So - this morning I made myself a 3 egg cheese omelette cooked in butter and it made me retch. Apologies if TMI. I think it was just too fatty and rich and my body said 'enough already'.

Lunch will be left over chicken from yesterday's BBQ with green salad and gentle olive oil dressing rather than lashings of mayo which I have been being rather liberal with

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced that? My eating has been SO the opposite of this WOE for so many years I wonder if my body is struggling to adapt.

Half a stone down, though, so no complaints there Grin

bettyblueeyes83 · 06/06/2016 13:16

Down 0.9 which I'm trying to be pleased with! It's 8.8 over the three weeks which is not bad. But I was over a pound lower on Friday and thought I handled my weekend away really well, so am a teensy bit disappointed. KOKO everyone! Smile

yongnian · 06/06/2016 13:40

Ah well - here's the salutary 'don't be like me' warning - due to a stressful half term and associated bingeing, I have, of course gained weight.
According to the scales, I have in fact, gained 6lbs in a week!!
I do have some ray of hope though...I have terrible water retention right now and a very unwell stomach...so think some of this will be water weight. So hoping the scales will seem less horrible later on this week.
Anyway, it's good motivation to get a grip.
Could someone add me to the spready please at 180? (Haven't been there for a loong time)
Well done everyone else.

StuntNun · 06/06/2016 13:46

A pound and a half UP here which I was not expecting. I'll just be KOKO then.

I just want to say that nobody should be disappointed with a 9 lb loss in the first three weeks. That is just about the best result that you can get on this WOE. One of my coaching customers is inching down a quarter pound per week and she has been really strict with herself. If you're achieving an average of a pound a week (after the first couple of weeks) then that is just about perfect.

AuntieMaggie · 06/06/2016 13:49

WanHeda I have quite a bit to lose too just feeling a bit meh because I'm losing less than 1lb a week at the moment if anything. I've been doing this since January and have lost 15kg but it's really slowed down. I wanted to be a comfortable size 14 by Christmas but I'll be lucky if it's 16 at this rate!

ClopySow · 06/06/2016 13:53

My scales are clearly not well. Up down up down...

0.6 lbs off though overall so thats nice.

DoingItForMyselfAtLast · 06/06/2016 13:57

Haven't weighed yet, as was in a major rush this morning. Think I have probably stayed the same, but clothes and my face are noticeably different - I now look 6 months pregnant rather than 9 months! I tried on a dress on Sunday that I was very uncomfortable in at a friend's wedding 2 years ago, and it fit me easily without my Spanks! So I'm happy regardless of whether or not I am down when I step on the scales tomorrow morning.
[FLOWERS] TO EVERYONE!!!!

LaserShark · 06/06/2016 14:42

Notdead, I get queasy if I overdo the cream and maybe other dairy. This morning I had Greek yoghurt and a bit later an almond milk with cream and I felt really, really sick.

I am craving something fresh today - we've got no salad veg in and I just don't feel like cooked veg with butter or oil. I'd like a crisp crunchy salad with grilled chicken - I don't feel like eating fat at all today. It's usually not a problem but I definitely get that kind of reaction sometimes.

IndianaJone · 06/06/2016 14:50

Well done everyone on the pounds lost! I've also stalled which is disheartening but trying to remember what BIWI and StuntNun said about week 3. At least we are all still here ready for another week - KOKO!

Would someone kindly add me to s/sheet please?

eleven59 · 06/06/2016 14:51

I've lost 0.8lbs which I am pleased with considering we have had friends here this weekend and I have cheated with a few (too many) glasses of prosecco, and some fruit.

I am definitely carrying on with this.

NotdeadyetBOING · 06/06/2016 14:54

Really encouraging to hear that, Lasershark. Not that you felt queasy, obviously, but that that reaction is normal and I'm not on my own with it.

Funnily enough, we did have loads of fresh salad stuff in so made myself what I imagine you were craving (sorry!) - fresh, crunchy lettuce, watercress, cucumber etc. with grilled chicken and small amount of mayo. Was lovely and I feel ok again.

I guess it's a case of listening to your body and not feeling obliged to do a face plant in butter/cream at every meal… I may have been getting a little carried away

MontserratCaballe · 06/06/2016 15:00

Hello! Forgot to weigh today before I had my first pint of the day so I will check tomorrow. Am definitely losing inches though as certain item of clothing are looser. Wish I could spot reduce from my big chest though. Still, the sun is out, the tesco man has been and I have plenty of LC treats to keep me going.

Some good losses so far. Well done to all who have lost and KOKO to those who have not Flowers

ChopsticksandChilliCrab · 06/06/2016 15:07

I stalled too this week but I'm still down over a stone since Easter. I know I have to drink more water, but I can't go to the loo easily at work (teacher) so I do restrict my fluids in the morning and during the day, which won't be helping.

CathemeralChild · 06/06/2016 15:33

Look! Look! Looooook!
They've got cauliflowers in my local Aldi! I'm so exited!
What shall I do with it? Couscous? Rice? Stir fry? Pizza?
I'm going to grab a bag of prawns....

WanHeda · 06/06/2016 15:40

Has there been a shortage of cauli in your area Cath? Grin

WanHeda · 06/06/2016 15:41

AuntieMaggie (I actually have an auntie Maggie Grin)

15kg is amazing in just 6 months! I imagine I will be frustrated at slow progress when I am 6 months down the line too - I should probably prepare myself for it. Every pound is a loss though, and a loss to be proud of!

Gcalgske · 06/06/2016 16:29

CathemeralChild I love cauliflower! Where are you? Has there been a shortage due to boot camp Wink

I love curry spiced cauliflower pilau rice with prawns and coconut milk, cauliflower tabouleh, simply steamed with lots of butter, roasted until crunchy in olive oil, chilli powder and lemon juice, steamed then mashed with coconut oil and tinned thick coconut milk and topped with crisp (fried in lots of ghee) shallots/chilli/curry leaf/mustard seed/onion seed (like what they use to top a Tarka dhal), cauliflower fried rice with 5 spice, sesame oil, stir fry veg, pork/prawns and an egg mixed in or steamed the coated in a cheese sauce with bacon, shallots, chives. I'm not a big fan of the pizza, fathead crust is far superior (and less faff )
