Week 4 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp: are you KOKO?!

BIWI · 06/06/2016 07:40

Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Doom Fabulousness

Week 3 might not have been kind to you - and here's the warning that week 4 might be the same Sad

But hopefully by now you're starting to adjust to low carbing, and should be feeling some of the other benefits, even if the scales are resolutely ignoring you!

If you're struggling, come here and tell us about it. Don't self-sabotage by thinking 'oh fuck it' and diving into the carbs!

Half term is a killer. Too many temptations. I'm back to logging food this week and upping water. Plus the weather is good here at last so I'm hoping for a few hikes with the dogs this week work permitting.
Anyway I was 9st10.6 last week today 9st 10.8.

So not too much damage.

CiderwithBuda · 06/06/2016 09:08

Morning all.

A gain for me. A pound and a half so back up to 15st 5.

I know why. Apple pie, Prosecco, gin, wine and too much dairy. And bunged up.

No alcohol for me again now. Reducing the dairy. Drinking the water. Going to exercise every day too.

I'm also going to try to make my diet more Mediterranean. Having had a breast cancer scare this year and reading an article saying that women who had had breast cancer were less likely to have a recurrence if they follow a Meditarranean diet, I want to eat as healthily as I can whilst still following Bootcamp. I have Michael Mosley's book and he recommends low carb Meditarranean so will have a look for some recipes in there.

I've lost a pound this week. Am quite impressed because I switched to Bootcamp from VLCD on which I had just lost a stone so didn't expect a massive loss on Week 1 and was happy with my 2lb loss. Then at the beginning of Week 2 I had my surgery, became sedentary and I moved to bc lite a week early so to lose a pound in a week like that is great - especially as I still have a great big dressing on and probably some painkiller-related water retention.

poorbuthappy · 06/06/2016 09:15

Stayed the same, which considering the wine I've drunk is not too bad at all.

6 weeks to holiday...

RaisinGirls · 06/06/2016 09:24

Lost 2lbs which is great but really do feel like I am sabotaging my efforts at the moment. I have gone off the rails the last few days, lots of pizza, wine and beer. I had some stressful health things to work through last week, and as always turned to food and drink for comfort. I think the only reason why I have lost weight is I have upped my exercise and done a few long runs.

I really need to get out of the habit of seeing food as an emotional crutch - thats whats going to help me sustain loss for ever. Any ideas how to do this?

Back on track this week though. A food order coming today with lots of veg and meat and cheese and a mind full of LCHF recipes for the week.

I need to spend more time on the thread to keep me focused, but it moves so fast I struggle to follow the discussions, let alone participate!

Sprink · 06/06/2016 09:25

Hi all--this caught my eye, I've been thinking about doing low carb for ages and might finally be ready, but...what on earth is KOKO?

Can't say that I am if I don't know what it means. Grin

CathemeralChild · 06/06/2016 09:28

Morning! 148.6 which is 3.4lb down from last week. I'll call it 149 though and give myself a headstart for next week. Grin
CathemeralChild 149 for the spreadsheet please Thank you!

regularbutpanickingabit · 06/06/2016 09:29

Half a pound of here and a big sigh of relief. Forgot to add the 2 G&Ts I had yesterday to my food list. Selective memory?!

Anyway, at various points this week I have been 2lb down and 3lb up and so I am very glad to have settled at half a pound off. That makes it 9.5lb in 3 weeks. That will do me for now!

Jeans are looser, my face doesn't look as bloated and I can do my belt up an extra notch. Actually, TWO extra notches from day one. That tells me a lot.

The fact I have another 3 stone to reach my target weight is just stupid.

I think I need to break it down:
Target 1 - half a stone DONE
Target 2 - In to next stone bracket DONE
Target 3 - first stone
Target 4 - next stone bracket
Target 5 - second stone
Target 6 - next stone bracket
Target 7 - third stone
Target 8 - next stone bracket

But then I also have:
One dress size
Two dress sizes

Next week will be pre-period week so combined with a stalling week 4, I am not expecting much. To try and counter that, I am going to stay away from the G&T and try and stick to strict boot camp rather than lite boot camp. Will see how it goes. Always good to have the warnings in place that it's normal to slow down/stop for these two weeks.

Wan - inspirational loss there, congrats!

B - creamy scrambled eggs and half an avocado (rest was off)
L - Tuna in olive oil salad with cherry toms and mozzarella
D - Making a big bolognaise so will have that with parmesan and cream and spinach salad

Lost nearly 2lb this week Smile

regularbutpanickingabit · 06/06/2016 09:34

Raisin - emotional eating is part of my DNA and the hardest thing to address so I am currently ignoring it.
BUT... if you have lots of food in that you can eat fine on this WOE then its actually ok. Add tons of fat and you forget about food more than you think you will. I mean, not like naturally thin people do but definitely an improvement on before.
I also find that doubling up the cooking on any lovely recipe I find means I can tuck in to leftovers as soon as I am hungry/emotionally in need. Basically, treat yourself with very tasty food that's allowed. It works each way - you get to do the eating bit, you get to stick to the diet, you feel like you have rewarded/comforted yourself.

Sprink · 06/06/2016 09:34

Thanks all. What's the next step? Do I just announce my weight and start today as my week 1?

Do we update spreadsheet ourselves or does BIWI do it?

HumphreyCobblers · 06/06/2016 09:40

Hello, I am 9 stone 12 this morning. I did hit this weight a week ago, but despite not cheating at all have gained two pounds over the rest of this week so am really glad to be back down this morning.

This is not unusual for me, I have only about ten pounds to go and am resigned to losing v slowly. But the health benefits of this WOE are so noticeable for me - I stay on bootcamp and don't miss the other food at all.

The worst thing is the water, I just don't dare drink that much if I am going out, so it can get towards the end of the day and I realise that I have two litres still to drink! I think I need to be more regimented about it.

CiderwithBuda · 06/06/2016 09:42

Five weeks to holiday for me Poorbuthappy.

Well done Lazer - that's fab given your surgery etc.

Good news (as I know you've all been worried Grin) - I'm not bunged up any more. Feeling lighter already!

Wintersea · 06/06/2016 09:45

Think it's a really good idea to break things down like that regular so it doesn't feel too daunting, with a (non carb!) treat when you reach each goal.
Well done for some brilliant losses btw - even if it's only a Llb or a fraction of a llb, remember BIWI's llb of fat photo!
Like the sound of the Mediterranean low carb cider - may hv a look out for that...

lasttimeround · 06/06/2016 09:46

1 pound down. I'm pleased.

Veryflummoxed · 06/06/2016 09:56

Sprink you can add yourself to the spreadsheet if you are able to. Some of us with apps on phones and iPads can't. If that is the case post asking someone to add you, and put your name and weight highlighted. There are some lovely people who go through the thread and add those who can't do it themselves.

FarelyKnuts · 06/06/2016 09:56

Same same. No loss this week

lasttimeround · 06/06/2016 09:59

Only my 3rd week but now that I've got my head round it's a 'high fat' diet as opposed to a high protein one my food shops considerably cheaper. Although I find I have to measure my fats. I can easily go overboard on cream.

Titsalinabumsquash · 06/06/2016 10:03

142lbs for me, 2lbs off! Can someone update for me? I'm stuck in hospital with DS1.

lisbapalea · 06/06/2016 10:26

Forgot to weigh this morning but pretty sure it would have been a gain, as too many little treats / mistakes began to escalate over half term and a weekend of friends visiting.

No excuses this week and I have GOT to keep up the water drinking as I know that is the first place I fall.

B - berries with Greek yog and Creme fraiche & flaxseed
L - off to London so will get something LC friendly from somewhere like Pret or Leon
D - hm coleslaw with salad, poached egg and oily tuna I think

And GALLONS of water, I promise.

Whistle73 · 06/06/2016 10:28

One pound down for me - I'm pleased because I've seen 10st on the scales for the first time in a year! Have only lost three or four pounds in total but only have a stoneish to lose, have also not had a completely cheat free week since BC began - because of weekends away and work stuff.
I'm definitely KOKO with no let-up - determined to make this a perfect week with no wine!
