Week 4 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp: are you KOKO?!

BIWI · 06/06/2016 07:40

Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Doom Fabulousness

Week 3 might not have been kind to you - and here's the warning that week 4 might be the same Sad

But hopefully by now you're starting to adjust to low carbing, and should be feeling some of the other benefits, even if the scales are resolutely ignoring you!

If you're struggling, come here and tell us about it. Don't self-sabotage by thinking 'oh fuck it' and diving into the carbs!

Yay to slim waists and perky boobs. Grin Well done Clopy and nekobus
So, I weighed a pound more on Tuesday than I did Monday and that pound stayed there all week until yesterday. Then I lost it, plus a bit more yesterday and today I've lost another 1.4lbs! This weight loss is a funny old business. Hopefully it will stay off now and I'll get a loss tomorrow.
I've got to get up at 5am tomorrow to get a 6.30 train to London, so I'll need to remember to weigh, whilst still half asleep.
Today's food will be:
B - two creamy coffees
L - sliver of leftover frittata, probably some prawns in hm rose marie sauce and salad
D - sausages and veg. There 8 strawberries to go around 3 people, so 2-3 strawberries pushing the boat out with cream
S - will probably have a third coffee as it's the weekend, spicy chai latte.
Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow everyone.

Mookbark · 12/06/2016 10:27

Fliss great losses, well done. Flowers

stilllovingmysleep · 12/06/2016 10:32

Good to hear about the newfound waists :)

BIWI · 12/06/2016 10:50

I don't know why you'd lose on your waist, but I'd guess it might be something to do with losing visceral fat - which is the fat that collects around your internal organs.

But who cares, really, what the reason is, as long as we're getting smaller Grin

Interesting piece about it here from live strong which suggests that weight around the middle is to do with carb sensitivity

OP posts:
stilllovingmysleep · 12/06/2016 10:58

BIWI that's very convincing to me (in terms of weight around the middle and carb sensitivity).

trixymalixy · 12/06/2016 11:03

I think I look thinner, but the scales aren't showing any weight loss which is a bit depressing. I'm wondering whether I need to cut out dairy.

Yesterday I ate:
B boiled eggs with butter
L oopsie rolls with chipolata sausages and broccoli
D steak with broccoli, celeriac chips and blue cheese sauce
S half a square of 85% chocolate.

Probably not enough water though. I find it easy to drink enough at work, but much harder on the weekend.

WanHeda · 12/06/2016 11:18

Off plan for 3 days while in London - 8lb gain Shock and I feel absolutely shocking, all sluggish, stomach pains, fuzzy head and generally yucky. It has been a lesson and a half for sure!

ClopySow · 12/06/2016 11:27

The scales are being extremely stubborn for me. The tape measure isn't

BIWI · 12/06/2016 11:29

trixy have you been taking your measurements? You may well find that you have lost inches even if the scales aren't saying pounds!

My boobs are certainly not perky, no diet in the world can save them after feeding 4 children for over a year each!

Veryflummoxed · 12/06/2016 11:47

Wanheda Flowersyour food always looks so delicious I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting back to it. Plus if it went on that quickly I'm sure you can drop it again quickly too, that's what I find usually happens, as long as I get back on track. Hope you've had a good time.

princessconsuelabannahammock · 12/06/2016 11:47

I went out for a meal last night and i was very impressed with my willpower.
It was a mexican place and its all very carb heavy. I had a massive bowl of mexican style mussels in a really rich creamy sauce, there was a massive portion of home made bread, which i didnt even sniff. I did have 2 baccardis and d coke - which actually tasted really sweet.

We then went to the theatre and i drank water and had a few peanuts. It the past i would have said fuck it and eaten all the wrong things but my holiday is in 2 weeks and i couldnt be bothered fighting the good fight to get back on the wagon.

This morning i went to HIIT training and then played (sort of) tennis with DH and the kids. I didnt take any water so i am not downing pints as i have a massive headache.

B- BPC
B2 - home made full fat yoghurt with cream
L- chicken and bacon, spinach salad
D - not sure yet.

I have noticed my waist is coming back and i am a lot more toned thanks to kettlebells. My boobs are still massive as it my tummy but its looser and more jiggly and droopy but def smaller - its at that looking worse before getting better stage - i hope. Off to google spanx!!

RaisinGirls · 12/06/2016 11:54

Arse. I had a beer and a pizza last night. I blame the football and my lack of will power. Went for a long run this morning to try and make it up but really disappointed in myself

WanHeda · 12/06/2016 12:10

Thanks very, I am straight back on it today as I hate this carby feeling! What a revelation - actually looking forward to getting back on your "diet"!

PlayNice - can you share your lasagne recipe please?

SayrraT · 12/06/2016 12:51

If you are concerned about the scales not showing a loss when you look thinner just have a wee think.

Does the number in the scales matter?

Would you rather weigh 9st and look like a size 14 or weigh 10st and look like a size 10?

Other people see you, not the number on the scales.

P.S I have no idea if the numbers/sizes above are realistic, I have never been that small or light!

reader77 · 12/06/2016 16:19

Good point Sayrra.

I like the idea of NSVs: Non-Scale Victories!

wombattoo · 12/06/2016 17:10

Afternoon everyone
Just checking in. I've a had a few off piste moments this weekend, but nothing that has sent me out of control.
Tits you've done amazing considering all you have got on. Likewise for Gcal Thanks
Good luck for the weigh ins.

MaryThorne · 12/06/2016 17:30

Just checking in. Feeling loads better than 24 hours ago as I managed to avoid the carby elements of lunch at friend's house today and started the day with bacon, eggs and mushrooms.

L: chicken, haloumi and veg kebabs (bbqed), salad leaves, feta and olives and tomatoes plus some strawberries (only a couple)

D: just going to make chorizo veg and cheese frittata

Had a bit of carb flu this morning from yesterday's slip up (which I had thought was fairly minor). Hopefully back on track now. We'll see what the weigh in brings tomorrow as it's nearly the end of week 3 for me!

bettyblueeyes83 · 12/06/2016 17:57

Great NSV this afternoon. Accidentally went shopping after yoga class and bought two dresses, one a size 12 and one SMALL. I'm normally 14-16 and was the top of 16 at Christmas so am v.pleased with this. Of course, was just one shop's size, the small dress was 'loose cut', and I tend to be smaller in dresses and huger in trousers but anyway, it's so much nicer to go shopping when I'm a bit slimmer.

B: omelette with feta, cherry tomato, and spring onion, with nice pile of steamed tenderstem broccoli that needed eating on the side. Was so proud omelette actually worked, normally they stick and become a mush that I can't flip/fold (have learnt trick is to get pan properly hot and use plenty of butter). All my supplements (I practically rattle these days).
D: will be pork loin with that mayo/cheese recipe that someone (wanheda?) posted if I can find it - anyway, something with the bit of pork loin I found in the freezer and cauli mash
S: macadamias, olives with pimento/manchego

Might have berries and cream later if I fancy it.

princessconsuelabannahammock · 12/06/2016 18:32

Well done Betty i would love to accidentally get into a size 12, lovely thing to happen and a great loss since xmas, very encouraging.

Can any critique my days food - i fear carbs creeping in...

B- BPC - before training
B2 Full fat homemade greek style yoghurt (strained and cultured with cream)
L- HM tom yum soup with choi sum, chicken and prawns and coconut milk, coriander. Prob 6-9g carbs per serving.
D- pablos chicken (hemsley and hemsley - ground almonds as a coating), with lime coleslaw and mayo. 5 strawberries and a slosh of cream.

is it ok dairy wise? Too many carbs - yoghurt and ground almonds? - estimate i had 25g of ground almonds as a coating. Too little fat?

I have had 3-4litres of water and have done HIIT and played tennis - badly!

2 weeks until my much needed and longed for holiday, so need to be good for this final push.

DoingItForMyselfAtLast · 12/06/2016 18:59

Can't wait to sit down and eat this! Creamy pesto chicken with courgetti, sprinkling of spring onion, on a bed of spinach leaves. Yum!

Week 4 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp: are you KOKO?!
ReggaeShark · 12/06/2016 19:35

Back on the wagon today. Too much wine Friday and Saturday nights. Food good at meals but wine led to scoffing a few after dinner mints on Friday . Chef messed up my order last night and am sure sauce had flour in it. But my meal was already late so didn't send it back.

Don't know if I can bear to get on the scales in the morning. I'd had such a good week too and was really feeling in the zone.

B: Bacon and eggs, creamy decaff
L: haloumi fried in olive oil, wilted Spinach, Tatziki
D: fried plaice, roast celeriac, buttered cabbage and broccoli

Iamdobby63 · 12/06/2016 19:52

Apple shaped = carb sensitivity, absolutely the case with me, more than 25 grams of carbs and I don't seem to lose anything.

Talking about not losing anything, had a tough couple of weeks with a relative in hospital, been sticking to the diet bar one meal but I'm not too hopeful for tomorrow morning.

Anyone have any menopause/weightloss advice? For the last two weeks I have had pre menstrual symptoms (bloated and no weight loss no matter what I do), I have been spotting (tmi sorry) but no period. Whilst I don't mind that this is upon me I don't want to spend the rest of my life in a pre menstrual state!

nekobus · 12/06/2016 20:50

Sorry dobby, no menopause help here. Hope you get some answers.

Well, epic cake fail here BlushCake got all the ingredients together for a low carb choc brownie recipe, and for DHs proper choc cake and for his favourite meal plus rushed around getting last minute gifts et. So completely ran out of time and only made the birthday cake..... I don't need to tell you the rest but suffice to say my body is now complaining loudly and painfully Confused

Never again! Back on the wagon and onwards we go. Fingers crossed it has not impacted on weight by tomorrow but I already feel bloated and yuk
