Morning!

Here's the SoF for you to confess all

So we move into the second half.

By now, those of you who have been here from the beginning should be hitting your stride, and be more comfortable about what to do, what works/doesn't work etc.

Let's really focus and concentrate on doing it properly.

Good luck!

Maggie I usually cook then in the oven, really high for 10-15 mins to crisp them, then down to about 160 for 30mins-ish. Enjoy!

Am in bed watching Greys Anatomy after a snotty sneezy day. Only eaten cheese and pork scratchings today, but have spag Bol in the slow cooker so at least a decent meal later. Gutted to be feeling so rubbish when I am supposed to be going out, why not the other 51 Fridays in the year?

Mookbark · 26/02/2016 14:39

Well, the dinner last night was actually very low carb friendly. it was a bit crap though and not worth the £40-odd I'd paid. It was supposed to be tapas, but it was unlike any tapas I have ever had. In reality, it meant that dish after dish came round and you could pick and choose what you wanted. I avoided the carby choices, but had chicken, meatballs, chilli prawns, green salad, olives, some veg. I had too much wine and I did have pudding, which was a creme brûlée Blush I figured one pudding as a treat wasn't too bad after all the biscuits, cake, bread, etc, etc I've avoided this week. Just got the train journey home to navigate now. I have cheese from the breakfast buffet this morning which I stole, pork crackling and 90% chocolate. I'll also see what freebie food they offer on the train. May not be the most balanced of meals, but it'll keep me going.
Haven't weighed since Tuesday and worried what tomorrow will be like, but think I have done as well as I could in the circumstances.
Sorry I haven't kept up with the other posts on the thread too much this week, but hope you are all doing well.

LexLoofah · 26/02/2016 17:13

disco I know what you mean about your bum following you, I am blessed with one of those too!

chester sorry to hear you are still poorly, indeed a bummer when you are supposed to be going out, hope you feel better and anyone else who is a bit under the weather

well after all the Pilates chat a few weeks ago I signed up for a taster course, first session was today and I really enjoyed it although I know I will ache tomorrow. so much better than boring yoga or getting all hot and sweaty in aerobics.

B - rest of hot smoked salmon, avocado, scr eggs
L - celery, lovely French soft cheese from lidl, radish, one lc seedy cracker with butter then stewed rhubard and ff greek yog but then a sq dark choc which I didn't really need
D- will be interesting, DH and I decided instead of a takeaway where we won't quite get to order what we want or get something verboten and regrest it later we have ordered a fruits der mer box from one of those online fish delivery places, so currently have lobster, crab, clams, cockles, shrimp, mussels and oysters sittng in the fridge all cooked and ready for me to assemble. made mayo earlier so will serve with that and a spinach salad I think. I also made truffles earlier with 85% choc, coconut milk, coconut oil and walnuts so expect I will have one later

have a good weekend all

shouldiblowthewhistle · 26/02/2016 18:50

Breakfast: 2 small quiche/muffins
Snack: 1 small quiche/muffin (hungry)
Lunch: smoked mackerel and lettuce, dressing
Snack: boiled egg with some sausage meat (a la scotch egg)
Dinner: Total FF yoghurt and raspberries.

Probably ate too much.
Probably won't lose weight.
Craving some slices of honeydew melon.

Still feel sick in the stomach. This is well over a week now. This might be the stomach bug that gave me awful runs earlier this week (2 days off work). Threw up in my own hand last night after the Chinese 5 spice on leftover pork belly hit my throat. May or may not be connected.

I'm not enjoying this any more. So far I have lost 2 pounds in 8 weeks, and am losing the will to continue. If I can't manage 2 weeks without fucking it up, how am I supposed to manage 18 months?

Problem is, I feel like carbs will be poison to my body now.

Moanranger · 26/02/2016 18:50

Hi, all, have not posted in awhile but have been on the straight & narrow. Weight going down 1/4 lb at a time, but it is going. I notice if I have even the slightest carby item, say even a sliver of dark chocolate, I am hungrier the next day.
I found coconut milk with carb content equal to almond milk, eg, 0.1g per 100 ml; looking forward to trying it.
Doing my fitness challenge - only managed 2 classes this week - it is based on 40 min of excercise done fast & hard so it is both weight-training & aerobic. The days I don't take a class, I am on the excercise bike & watch TV ( mainly Come Dine With Me - boy are their meals unimaginative!) Started with 15 min, move to 20 min at weekend & aim for 30 min next week.
Today I skipped breakfast, lunch was a posh business buffet - lots of meat, chicken, great salad with avocado. Dinner is a prawn stir fry.

Gcalgske · 26/02/2016 19:14

I love pork belly with an abnormal intensity. I think I am an addict.

My most favourite way to cook is to roast for 20 mins at 200deg in a (obv. oven proof) fry pan then transfer to the hob and brown on all sides. I season with star anise salt. It is so delicious. I want some now.

Gcalgske · 26/02/2016 19:17

Yay lex, come over to the (strong and flexible) dark side Grin
Stunt sounds amazing.

feekerry · 26/02/2016 19:41

I feel I need to be trying me some pork belly

BIWI · 26/02/2016 21:42

shouldi - I'm sorry you're not feeling well.

Breakfast: 2 small quiche/muffins
Snack: 1 small quiche/muffin (hungry)

You shouldn't be hungry by now. If you are, this suggests that you're not eating enough fat.

Lunch: smoked mackerel and lettuce, dressing

This doesn't sound like much - but I hope your dressing was an oily one?

Snack: boiled egg with some sausage meat (a la scotch egg)

Again, you shouldn't need to snack if you're eating enough/enough fat.

Dinner: Total FF yoghurt and raspberries.

This doesn't sound like enough food!

It looks to me like you're not eating enough. You probably aren't eating enough fat either, and there isn't much veg going on. A dinner of only yoghurt and raspberries isn't 'normal'!

How much booze is involved in your day, and how much water?

Are you honestly following Bootcamp rules?

AuntieMaggie · 26/02/2016 22:22

I cooked the gammon instead (79p for 2 gammon steaks in aldi) as I couldn't decide how to cook the pork belly and was too impatient Grin

I'll cook it tomorrow...thank you for all your suggestions - i'll have to buy more to try them all! I'm sure I saw a recipe somewhere that involved chilli flakes but I can't find it!

Gcalgske · 26/02/2016 22:56

It makes a lovely skewer. I pre cook it (roast for 20 mins) then slice into chunky cubes and marinade in tamari, chilli, 5 spice, garlic and ginger. Then pop onto skewers with whole little shallots, mushrooms (or LC veg of your choice) and roast or BBQ for another 20 mins (baste with marinade occasionally) they are amazing.

Gcalgske · 26/02/2016 23:19

Food today:
Creamy coffee
Chicken & bacon in ff mayo, slice gammon, salad leaves, tomato & cucumber (improvised a dressing by melting the butter supplied for the bread 'on the side' on my lunch companions hot tea and pouring on the veg)
Had my cheesy 'pasta' - sorry forgot to photograph it (too busy eating), it held up well. Made a sauce with a bit of left over chicken, couple mushrooms and a handful spinach fried in butter. Added in a tsp pesto and a couple of tbsp passata and warmed through. Tossed in the 'pasta' and topped with some cheese. Was YUMMY.

shouldiblowthewhistle · 27/02/2016 05:28

Hi BIWI. I had my 3.5 litres of water and not a drop of booze all week. The only cheating was some raspberries. I've done everything else perfectly. I just feel queasy!

I had a lovely oily dressing Smile, but I have been getting hungry since I had that time off work so wonder if I'm nutrient deficient. It's not ravenous hunger like carb hunger though.

I have a feeling dairy is the next to go. But I am tired of feeling off in my stomach, and am back to feeling heavy and tired. I'm going to continue but it's really frustrating. Will go weigh myself in a bit.

shouldiblowthewhistle · 27/02/2016 05:49

Still 15.9. I started at 15.11/12, lowest was 15.7 (3-4 weeks ago, and I think I was dehydrated) and I'm 15.9 now.

I chopped up my veges last night and the water boiled, but I just went straight to bed at 9.30 Blush

I'm hungry now so shall have a nice butter-heavy breakfast of spinach and eggs. Was hoping I'd have lost a stone by Easter (3 months). Sigh.

mustbemad71 · 27/02/2016 07:59

Morning all

Have been lurking as life is getting in the way of regular posting. You all seem to be in the swing of it, in awe of those being super strict!

I'm having a dinner party tonight so doing steak in red wine and choccie "cake" both from Annie Bell's LC Revolution book. Plan to stick to a couple of vodka instead of guzzling wine!

Did a big Costco shop yesterday and bought a mammoth bag of babybels - just need to limit myself or I'll eat the lot in a few days!

Still only 3lbs down overall since start thanks to some carb indiscretions the other week. Will KOKO!

So, I weighed myself this morning. I'm 4 lbs up on Monday. Don't know whether to feel a) relieved that I was pretty good, as how much would I have put I if I hadn't been or b) bloody hell, why did I refuse all those carbs when I've put all this weight on anyway. I'm veering towards b when I know I should be thinking a Hmm
Will try and have a good weekend, but it's my birthday tomorrow! DH and I are out for a meal tonight. I think I'll drive so I won't be tempted to drink. The DC will want cake tomorrow, but I will resist. If I had a choice between cake or being 4 lbs down on Monday, I'd go for the weight loss. However, I suspect I'll end up with neither.

NigellasGuest · 27/02/2016 11:02

sorry not had time to read latest posts but can someone quickly help?
urgent help needed re. chia seed pudding
can some one pretty please tell me the proportions of almond milk to chia seeds? All I can find online is measurements in bloody cups and I don't do cups! all my cups are different sizes. those chia seeds cost a fortune and I don't want to mess it up......

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 27/02/2016 11:07

Weighed self this morning. Was very happy to see I'd hit 11st7. So have promptly cocked it up by having cake, as is MIL's birthday today

Will be back on Monday.

Nigella - can you work it out by weighing out 4 1/2oz plain flour, and seeing what size cup fits that? Or is nearest to it? That will be a standard US/Australian cup. We actually have measures for it here (drives me up the fucking wall, doing things in "cups" - give me oz or g any day!!)

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 27/02/2016 11:08

Don't weigh out 4.5oz of chia though, it's unlikely to weigh the same as flour!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 27/02/2016 11:09

Or use this page mdmetric.com/tech/kitchen.htm - it says that 1 cup = 16 tbsps; and 1 US cup (probably what you're seeing?) = 8fl oz.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 27/02/2016 11:10

MInd you, tbsps aren't a great measure either - do they mean flat, rounded or heaped? I usually assume rounded, as that's what happens with sugar - you can't get a heaped tbsp of ordinary sugar.
