Morning!

Here's the SoF for you to confess all

So we move into the second half.

By now, those of you who have been here from the beginning should be hitting your stride, and be more comfortable about what to do, what works/doesn't work etc.

Let's really focus and concentrate on doing it properly.

Good luck!

Well that makes sense too Wand - if you have a tbsp of liquid, it's always going to be flat, isn't it, so it makes sense that solids should be too. Doh!

NigellasGuest · 27/02/2016 11:48

thanks Wand and Thumb Thanks
I will let you know how it goes! Good to know it's not really ruinable.... I'm using almond milk BTW.

Happy birthday for tomorrow mookbark Thanks

AuntieMaggie · 27/02/2016 15:40

I made brocolli soup last night out of one of the 100s I bought at aldi... while I was leaving it to cool down before blending dp thought it was more veg for dinner so put some on his plate with the other mountain of brocolli he had Hmm

I had intended to make nigellas recipe... in the end it was a leek fried in butter, clove of garlic, whole brocolli, stock, some Stilton, thyme.and black pepper. It was lovely though a bit too much thyme...

Anyone got any other soup recipes? I like spicy thick ones especially

Gcalgske · 27/02/2016 16:19

Swede soup or cauliflower cheese soup. I'll pop the recipes over on the recipe thread.

LexLoofah · 27/02/2016 17:56

hello all, good day here, not too achey after pilates and had a longish walk this afternoon

B - scr eggs, avo, crispy parma ham courtesy of DH
L - dressed crab that we just couldn't manage last night with hm mayo and lettuce
D - going out, menu looks fine if we go for set or a la carte, we shall see

ShebaQueen · 27/02/2016 18:36

Evening all, just checking in to keep myself in check Smile

B= LC pancakes with butter, a poached egg and some spinach
L= chicken legs, hm mayo and a massive green salad
D will be hm burgers with cheese, plus mushrooms, kale and more spinach cooked in butter

Glugging water now as have drunk slightly less than usual today

nekobus · 27/02/2016 18:55

Checking in with my food:

Yesterday:
B - 2 hb eggs with mayo
L - egg white omelette (had lots in fridge having used yolks!) with lots of butter and grated mozzarella
D - roast pork and cracking, LC cauli cheese (cream, cream cheese, cheddar), broccoli and celeriac chips

Today
B - scrambled egg and bacon
L - hm mackerel pate on celery, cucumber and red pepper, olives
D - meatballs and tomato sauce on julienned swede (had run out of courgettes) was actually ok if a bit of a strong taste. Meant to make fathead garlic bread but ran out of time so just had to watch the others tucking into a garlic flatbread thing - I resisted Smile

StuntNun · 27/02/2016 20:01

Major fail last night with an impromptu Chinese takeaway due to unexpected dinner guests. I ordered duck in orange sauce due to it being dairy, egg and soya-free. It was sickly sweet and must have been loaded with sugar. I know eating low carb makes you more sensitive to sweet flavours but I really don't see how it would have been appealing to anyone tbh. I won't bother weighing in for a few days especially with Auntie Flo on her way as well.

Gcalgske · 27/02/2016 20:20

Yuck stunt, it tastes soo sickly doesn't it? From what I know (pals parents ran a Chinese when I was a kiddo) duck in orange sauce usually involves marmalade and a surprising amount of dishes have tomato ketchup. Corn flour in EVERYTHING too. It's rare to find a restaurant doing authentic Chinese, except on a Sunday. On Sunday they did dim sum and all the regulars came and it was amazing. Koko.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 28/02/2016 07:56

Getting a bit dispirited here. 2lbs up after going out for cocktails on Thurs night - v sweet and then I ate more carbs anyway. So my total loss for 6 weeks is 3lbs. I'm getting really pissed off, tbh! Whenever I've low carbed before it's worked like a charm and I've lost 2lbs a week despite the odd cheat. I was always bf previously, though. It's like my metabolism has fallen off a cliff since I stopped bf. This WOE is not going to be sustainable if the occasional night out derails the whole thing. Maybe I need to massively up my exercise - I'm not really doing anything.

BIWI · 28/02/2016 08:02

Sorry to hear that, TooExtra. I know how dispiriting it can be when that happens Sad

But just think what it would be like if you were trying to follow a low calorie diet? Or a low fat one? Every night out would be an impossibility. And, you'd be hungry all the time!

Hi everyone,

Just checking in to say thanks for all the support you've given me. I'm a pound up this morning. Net loss over 8 weeks: 1 pound.

I've tweaked and tweaked. I've eaten more, I've eaten less. I've used digestive enzymes, probiotics, sodium, potassium and magnesium supplements. I've upped my vegetables, I've dropped my carbs. I get plenty of sleep. I don't exercise but I'm fairly active at work. I've not had a drop of sugar or sugar substitute for 8 weeks, I don't eat chcocolate, and I've drunk plenty of water. I've cut my alcohol and I've cut dairy.

My thyroid levels are fine.

There's something up. I'm going to have to work it out. But this thread is not the place to do it.

Good luck to every one in your losses - and KOKO for the health benefits if not the loss. I will, but I might have to combine it with the FODMAP diet for a few months.

LexLoofah · 28/02/2016 08:17

Well dinner out last night was fab and all BC friendly even had cheese for dessert but then fell at the last hurdle with the petit fours that came with my mint tea Blush, ah well lots of water and low carb as possible today, was worth it as don't think I was going to lose this week anyway after sneaky weigh yesterday, i too am struggling to lose but this is the way we eat now so just need to KOKO, perhaps it is time for uber BC or no dairy, will have a think today

Oh and we have booked a holiday at Easter to Switzerland so hoping that should motivate me to be good now so I can have some Swiss dark choc then and other Swiss-y things, mmmm fondue .....

Mookbark · 28/02/2016 09:02

Thanks for the birthday wishes wombat
Last night was, er, interesting.
We decided to just have a quick bite to eat and then go to the cinema.
We went to a fairly newly opened handmade burger company and I had a bun less Mexican beef burger, with coleslaw and salad. It was absolutely FAB. I think it's the first meal out since I gave started this WOE that I didn't feel like I was compromising. Was stuffed afterwards.
Then went to the cinema to see The Revenant. First 1hr20mins was gripping, enjoying the film very much, when suddenly the house lights came on and the manager appeared and said we had to vacate the building! Apparently, the water wasn't working and he said they weren't allowed to be open in that situation Confused At least it wasn't a terrorist attack, which was my second thought. And we got to home early, which is always a good thing.

Today's meals are:
B - creamy coffee x2
L - chicken thighs, salad
D - pork loin, crackling, veg

There will be birthday cake. I intend to eat the strawberries off the top with cream and leave the rest for everyone else. There won't be candles as I don't want to burn the house down. Grin

NigellasGuest · 28/02/2016 09:19

Happy Birthday Mook!

That was an interesting cinema trip!? Will you ever get to see the rest of the film ?!!!

On my phone so I can send you some virtual gifts which are of course very LC -
🍰🍰🍰🍰🎉🎉🎉🎉🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍧🍧🍧🍧🍸🍸🍸🍸🍹🍹🍹🍹🎁🎁🎁🎁🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈

BIWI · 28/02/2016 09:35

shouldi - why don't you just stick to the rules and keep it consistent from day-to-day?!

List out for me what your meals have been like over the last three to four days and let me see if I can help.

OP posts:
BIWI · 28/02/2016 09:37

Also, shouldi, according to the spreadsheet you lost 7lbs in the first week, so something was working for you. What did you do in the first week that you haven't done since?

OP posts:
Gcalgske · 28/02/2016 10:15

should be sorry to see you go if you do but I think you really either need to do BC or not. Half doing it (I seem to remember a naan last week) and expecting results is unfair to yourself - you'll never hit the sweet spot where you get properly fat adapted and it gets EASY and really blooming ENJOYABLE. By cheating you set yourself back to the horrible bits where you feel rubbish and crave. X

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 28/02/2016 11:16

I was wondering about combining 5:2 and low carb. Plus lots of exercise! DH is fixing lights to my bike as I type so I can start cycling to the bus stop (5 miles). I've got a boozy weekend due - friends coming for Fri and Sat.

AuntieMaggie · 28/02/2016 11:21

I had the pork belly last night with a big pile of cauli and brocolli and cheese sauce.

I have rhubarb and raspberries in the freezer so going to make a crumble later... hopefully there will be enough for tomorrow and Tuesday as I have more meetings to travel for so will be nice treat... just have to find the recipe!
