Morning!

Here's the SoF for you to confess all

So we move into the second half.

By now, those of you who have been here from the beginning should be hitting your stride, and be more comfortable about what to do, what works/doesn't work etc.

Let's really focus and concentrate on doing it properly.

Good luck!

Hi, STS. No surprise, as discussed at length by me yesterday.
Went to Lidl & found the duck breasts. Took some hunting, in frozen section. Quite a lot of low carb options at Lidl.
Can someone post for me? Many thanks!
Loving my almond milk (but missing the cream, sigh)
B scrambled eggs, unsmoked back bacon
L tuna mayo
Not very hungry today

sos1993 · 22/02/2016 14:59

I had lost a pound most of the week so I am going to record it as a loss this week. Not enough water and too much cream. I have persuaded myself that extra thick cream and mascarpone are one step removed from butter so therefore allowed in the quantities I have been eating! This week I intend to monitor water and cream and go back to salad and protein for lunch and plenty of leafy greens and protein for dinner. I'm still loving scrambled eggs with butter every morning for breakfast. Going to keep it simple.

Tooextra - I'd take Stuntnun's word for it on the Greek yoghurt, I admit I didn't know how it was made!

Have read your link and will say this: 1) that the other factors in milk probably play a protective part, especially the microchylons that surround the milk fat; and 2) rapidly raised insulin response isn't necessarily a problem UNLESS people have insulin resistance or are heading in that direction. One would have to assume that they didn't use people with pre-diabetic conditions in some of the studies at least, because it would create a "confounding factor" and in general most studies like to use fit healthy people to see how the biochemistry "should" work, not how it works when it's already disordered (unless that's what they're actually studying, in which case they obviously need people with certain conditions). Sorry if you know all that already!

And that nothing is ever simple! But if YOU find that dairy stalls you, for whatever reason, then stopping eating it is the best option, so never mind the science, go with what works. :)

NigellasGuest · 22/02/2016 15:37

Hello all- I've been away in a hotel for 3 days so it's been a bit weird.

Ended up barely eating at all on Saturday - a babybel and pepperami when I got to the airport - that's all I could find - and in the evening I picked at some chicken salad with avocado, and had a mocha. Don't know what was in the mocha!!

Sunday I had a bunless burger with cheese and a rasher of bacon on top, steamed broccoli and some spinach gratin. That's all I ate all day! I also had a plain coffee with coconut milk.

Today I didn't eat until I got home, when I had an omlette with butter and feta cheese. Not remotely hungry.

I have been drinking loads of water the whole time though. I will weigh myself tomorrow morning....

I'm hoping the last couple of days can count as sort of fasting days!??!

StuntNun · 22/02/2016 15:37

TooMuch please ignore that blog you linked to. The guy writing it really doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. I could drive holes through any one of those articles on dairy and insulin. It's an opinion dressed up with scientific facts cherry picked to support his own beliefs. He says dairy doesn't make him fat and he eats loads of it therefore dairy can't be a problem for anyone else. He also says that fat can be stored when insulin levels are low therefore high insulin levels cannot cause fat storage. He is extremely ill-informed.

LexLoofah · 22/02/2016 16:30

in awe of thumb and stunt and their scientific lady brains

first ever trip to Lidl today and made out like a bandit

B - courgette & cheddar omelette BUT noticed DH had picked up cheddar with whiskey last week AND it had sugar in it so higher carbs than normal
L - roasted aubergine, shallot, courgette, red pepper, chicken fried in olive oil, greek yog cucumber dressing. sq dark choc
D - will be chicken and leeks in hm creamy mustard sauce, roasted cauli and cabbage in butter

oh and 1lb off, finally a bit of movement in the right direction

DrDiva · 22/02/2016 16:41

Wombatinabathhat · 22/02/2016 16:51

blacktea fee jerm moan I've updated the spreadsheet.
blacktea I just want to check with you. I added 155.25. Last week was 162.5. If I had lost that much this week, I'd be shouting it from the rooftops! Grin
Chester welcome back. I was about to ask where you were Wink
hefzi Good luck with the operation Thanks and wishing you a speedy recovery

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 22/02/2016 17:16

Ok, thanks Thumb and Stunt! I am going to spend this week being super-good but including dairy and then draw my conclusions at the end of it when AF has fecked off again. Although I have a night out on Thursday so I want to drink. I will be good food-wise, and plan a big lc cooked breakfast on Friday morning to get back on the wagon!

knowclue · 22/02/2016 18:33

Evening all, congrats to all losers and Flowers to all the rest of us, which includes me. Have STS at 137 , could a kind person add me to the Spreadsheet please.
Not been a good week, not going to grumble, have had unwell mother in hospital again, cafeteria food is NOT conducive to a LC diet (not when I'm stressed anyway!)
So, onwards and hopefully downwards, have a good week everyone

blackteaplease · 22/02/2016 18:39

Thanks Wombat I thought I was 157 last week? I was away so weighed partway through the week instead of Monday.

GinThief · 22/02/2016 18:42

Lost 1kg since last monday Smile

This week didnt start so well. I can't seem to say no when offered food - ended up snacking on non low carb food grrr!

B - Scrambled eggs and coffee with cream
L - beef mince with leeks, green pepper and spinach sprinke of cheese on top
Afternoon snack - 2 very high carb snacks

Got to KOKO, I can do this, this thread is a great support.

momofgirls · 22/02/2016 19:23

Please add to the spreadsheet 161 lb my lowest weight this week (friday).
Have had some cake and wine over weekend (hubbies 50th).
Back to it since sunday afternoon. Hope I can resume the loss.
Have brought plenty of veg to continue.

Wombatinabathhat · 22/02/2016 19:31

blacktea that's still a great loss. Well done
mom I've added it
Gin Stick with it Thanks

Moanranger · 22/02/2016 20:00

Well, this is interesting.
My appetite has disappeared but also no LC flu.
D chicken breast with bacon & small amt of hard cheese. Tossed the sachet of BBQ sauce (Lidl) Quite nice.
Started a 6 week fitness challenge tonight, which is unlimited exercise classes for 6 weeks, plus weekly weigh ins & motivational emails, etc.
Did not enjoy first class as was too high impact ( crocked knee). I am hoping it will improve my fitness enough & will be an external monitoring of weight loss. We shall see.

AuntieMaggie · 22/02/2016 20:03

How carby are blackcurrants? I have a load in the freezer and thinking of making a lc crumble with them and raspberries seeing as ds has gone off raspberries and didn't like the normal crumble I made him Hmm I think I saw that someone had the lc for breakfast? would make a change from eggs!

blackteaplease · 22/02/2016 20:14

Gee thanks wombat. I am pleased with my overall loss so far. 20 pounds to go to target weight.

I'm not an expert keep but I have often seen BIWI advise that if you do exercise it can take a couple of weeks for your body to become fat adapted. It will then get easier Thanks

shouldiblowthewhistle · 22/02/2016 21:41

No more cheating here.

Still felt very iffy today - won't go into details but all the symptoms point towards gastroenteritis. Nice.

Lunch: lettuce with HM olive oil dressing.
Dinner: BIWI's Spanish Chicken. Yum!

Here's to a week of losses everyone (hefzi I feel for you and hope you soon work out what's holding you back)

StuntNun · 22/02/2016 22:08

That's pretty typical KeepOn, it takes a little while for your exercise performance to get back to normal when you go low carb but after a couple of weeks you might even find it has improved.

Gcalgske · 22/02/2016 22:13

Thanks to all our science minded fellow boot campers for doing all the hard work for me. Flowers

BIWI · 22/02/2016 23:33

Evening all! Long day here, working away/late. I remembered to defrost and roast a piece of belly pork that I had in the freezer yesterday, so I took some of that with me, and then devoured the inside of various sandwiches later on during the day.

All of which meant that it was an odd sort of day, but definitely low carb!

KeepOn you should find that once you're keto-adapted, exercise gets better. Some say performance gets better! But don't be too despondent if you find it tough for the time being.

Hi was posting on old thread but I'm here now.
I still can't write on the spreadsheet and it looks like my line is empty. Can someone add 146 as my start weight and 143 for today please?
It's not very impressive after 7 weeks is it?
