Low-carb bootcamp

Week 2 - 2016 Low Carb Bootcamp - our first official weigh-in!

Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope it was a good week, and I hope that those of you who have been suffering from carb flu are starting to feel better. Remember, keep up the electrolytes - sodium, potassium and magnesium. Which means firstly that you have to make sure you're getting plenty of salt - so salt your food during cooking and add salt to cooked food.

For potassium, you could also consider Lo-Salt. Good foods for all electrolytes include salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat (of course!) natural yoghurt.

A note about weighing in

If you're a daily weigher, you have several different options. You can either just record your weight every Monday (or whatever regular day of the week you choose - I am going to start weighing in on a Saturday, because my trainer records my weight as well, to keep me on track!).

Or you can record the lowest weight you achieved in that week

Or you can average your weights and record the average.

Whatever you decide, I hope it's a positive result!

4.6 lbs down Grin I weighed slightly less yesterday but I'll stick to Monday weigh ins. I've loosely been LCing since the new year and I've now lost nearly 10lbs, putting me back at my early November weight Blush I have a long way to go yet though.

B: egg muffins and a bit of total FF yog if I have time.

I had my first proper BPC yesterday and I'm not a fan, it tasted a little bit too bitter without some sort of milk substitute. I really needed a coffee to pick me up because I'm feeling distinctly carb flu-y.

Least the weather's nice, KOKO everyone!

I'm another daily weigher sticking with the Monday figure for the spreadsheet - even though I was, for some reason, a pound less yesterday morning! Still lost just short of three pounds since last week, so am very pleased. Well done to all of you - some really impressive losses around!

I'm only a pound down but happy with anything off after my disaster last week!

Trying to make parmesan straw things when I can find the recipe!

Could someone add mine please- 129lbs same as the start but I'm fine with this. We went out yesterday to celebrate my sons 10th birthday and my husband finishing (hopefully) his course of chemo. I had steak and salad but did have a couple of cocktails and thoroughly enjoyed myself after the worst 5 months of my life, quite frankly.

Down 1.5 lbs today which is good - in all I would like to lose between another 7 and 10 lbs.

Thanks Wand for recommending fat bombs - I am thinking of making these when I have more coconut oil in. Are they very palatable, though, being just solid coconut oil with some flavour? I don't really like coconut oil unless it's melted into something else. E.g. scrambled eggs (makes them really fluffy and stops them sticking to the pan too)!

I made a BPC by blending coconut oil, butter, coffee and cream.(and coffee obvs). I can safely say it was revolting. Did I do it wrong?

I'm having a weigh in Wednesday, so hopefully I'll have lost some then.

Typical Monday morning usually has me stressed out and racing to the vending machines. Today I snacked on some ready done bacon from M&S and some FF yoghurt.

Still stressed though Sad

Nigella I usually have my BPC with either cream or coconut oil, not both xx

blacktea thank you- I'll give that a go! I ate two packs of it last week, but wasn't "thinking apple" - but you're right, it's very similar in terms of juice and crunch: brilliant idea!

good morning and well done on all the losses

Spreadsheet updated and I've lost 6.4 pounds! really pleased about this although I know it's just an initial whoosh (and also just takes me back to early December weight as I lost some on the last bootcamp then put it on over xmas...) I do weight more often than weekly but will stick to Monday. I've gone up and down by 2-3 pounds over the week - can recommend the 'true weight' app which evens out the fluctuations for you and find this stops me getting too excited or demotivated by the ups and downs!

Thanks everyone for sharing their meals and progress as it is really helpful and motivating, bit of a lurker myself Blush and couldn't keep up with the chat thread last week but will check in when I can.

Have also convinced DH that we don't need haggis tonight as the one in the supermarket was 18g/100g carbs - a lot more oats etc. than meat I suppose. Will settle for something with buttery mashed neeps on the side instead Grin (microwaved of course now I've learned that method!)

have a good week everyone Smile

Nigella for BPC I do a mug of instant coffee, one tbsp butter and one tbsp coconut oil, then I blitz with my aerolatte thing (stick blender works just as well) it gets a nice creamy top to it.

My bpc has one teaspoon each of coconut oil and butter. I added a splash of cream this morning and didn't like it.

No loss today - but I'm ok with that as I'm nearly 3 weeks into Boot Camp and have already lost half a stone Smile and I had a bit of a carb face plant on Wednesday

I've now moved on to Boot Camp Lite - just in time for Burns Night, so I'll enjoy my low carb meal tonight (no tatties with my haggis but plenty of neeps, but a small amount of sugar and oats in the cranachan).

Today breakfast was Greek yoghurt with a few blueberries, lunch will be cabbage soup and our Burns Supper will be scallops on black pudding with crispy streaky bacon and apple jelly, haggis and neeps (and tatties for everyone else) and cranachan for dessert and some wine

This is the last time I'll mention being on Boot Camp Lite until next week as I know the official Boot Camp still has another week to go of the strict version.

I'd reiterate the advice about drinking plenty of water. It really does make a difference. I also find making sure I have early nights (in my case before midnight Blush) helps.

I have been really good over the weekend. I am not finding it hard not to eat the bread, rice etc... today i had a 60 min workout and i feel so energetic. Bdw Salt really helps with the carb flu. My clothes are fitting alot better and im sure im losing weight😊 feel so in control after a very long time. Every time i make the right food choice i feel abit stronger. Good luck to everyone for the 2nd week☺ xx
